Editorial Review

With its fully retro design, faithfully reproduced down to thesmallest detail, this cherry-red, rubber-wheeled tricycle is anundisputed classic. Apparently they do still make them like theyused to. The rugged trike features a chrome front fender; a double-deck,step-in back (so kids can climb onto the smooth metal seat in a snap);red-and-white tassels on the rubber-coated handlebars; a 12-inch-high,steel-spoked wheel; and even an old-fashioned bell. --Paul Hughes ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Old-fashioned look, good old-fashioned training
This is not only a nostalgic cute "toy" for my generation but it is also a well-disguised tool to learn balance and control before moving onto a real bicycle for my three year-old son. It may not be the preschool plastic low-riding bike that never tips over or doesn't hurt as much when he takes a spill but it certainly reminds him that everything needs to be approached with a certain amount of knowledge, understanding and respect. Personally, I feel no toy should be played with without any parental supervision at first...it's my job as a parent and a guide to show my child the "correct" way to tackle things and then to have him challenge that and then settle on his own way. I have shown him what to do and what not to do in order to manipulate the tricycle. It's a learning experience for him to remember that he shouldn't turn the wheel fast or too extreme in order to avoid falling off. It's a firm tricycle and it feels more like a grown-up "thing" than a kid's "thing"--he likes that.

And the bell--he really likes that...you should see the proud smile on his face.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only trike I've found to fit my XL son
I had problems finding a trike/bike to fit my son who is 42 inches tall and 38 lbs at exactly 3 years old. Too heavy and too tall for the recommended age level trike/bikes out there. He lacked the developmental coordination (comfort level?)to pedal the appropriately sized bike with training wheels that we purchased. This trike is a perfect fit and he gets excited to ride it. We found ours as a display model at a local garden shop. He sat on it independently the first time and rode all around the show room (something he had never done with his bike). I also like that I don't have to worry about him outgrowing the upper weight limit before he loses interest in riding it. He is all boy so we have had to retighten a few screws every few months, but so what. We have to replace batteries and inspect his other toys on a regular basis too. Hope this review helps other parents with larger than average children.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cute for the Photo
My son received this as a gift a few years ago. It was breath-taking when we first saw it and took pictures of him on it, but he never really learned to ride it. Probably because it's sooooooooo heavy. I would not recommend this tricycle to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars a classic
i bought this trike for my son and he loves it. he is 20months old and can't really reach the pedals, but he has to work at playing with it. everything these days is too easy for kids. it is nice to see him use his physical and thinking skills to try to work this trike. i agree with other people on this page that falls will come with any riding toy especially trikes, but i remember that being part of the fun. if you want to bring back memories of your childhood (riding on the back while some else pedals), buy this trike.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tips over and bolts loosen
I bought two of these for my twin daughters who are 4-1/2 now and they still have trouble riding them.

The trike will topple over if the wheels are turned too sharply. The center of gravity is too high for small children. One of my daughters said she's rather just walk in the parade and wave a flag than learn how to ride it for the 4th of July parade. That's when I decided I need to get her a different trike if her experience has been that bad.

Also, the bolts come loose and the wheel can turn without turning the steering wheel no matter how tightly the bolts are tightened. Same with the seat - it wiggles.

The other daughter fell off the trike and the lever for the bell dug into her skin causing a bad scrape.

It's pretty and the bell has a lot of nostalgia but it hasn't been practical at all. Trike riding should feel like a joy but with these, the kids think I'm giving them a chore when I say "Let's go ride tricycles." ... Read more

Very well done
This book has pages with emotions, good-night items, body parts, musical instruments. Leapfrog did a good job with it--for example on the "emotions" page, you can hear the IF YOU'RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT song with each of the emotions. It is a sweet little book.

One warning: If you buying the book for the Spanish, I have to say that it is not really bilingual. It gives only the names of the objects in Spanish, but then it switches over to English. There are no activities or songs in Spanish.

Good, but no all that I expected
My son loves this title, the only problem is that the Spanish words do not have any activities to go with them, like the English words do, so this is not a truly bilingual book.

EXCELLENT GIFT FOR TODDLER
I PURCHASED THE LITTLE TOUCH SYSTEM AND BOOKS FOR MY 20 MONTH OLD SON FOR CHRISTMAS. WE SIT FOR HOURS AND READ THEM TOGETHER. OUT OF ALL THE BOOKS HE FINDS THIS ONE MOST INTERESTED SINCE THE BABIES IN THE BOOK APPEAL TO HIM A BIT MORE THAN THE REST.

THE ONLY FAULT IS THAT THE ON/OFF BUTTON IS TOO EASY FOR HIM TO ACCESS AND HE KEEPS TURNING IT ON AND OFF JUST TO HEAR IT SAY "BYE BYE".

I WOULD ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO PURCHASE THIS SYSTEM FOR THEIR LITTLE ONES!

She love this book
I purchased the Little Touch system along with the other books for my 11 mos. old daughter. While she is not yet interested in the other books, she LOVES this one. I think the pictures of real life babies and real objects are more appealing to her than the animation art in the other books. She claps, dances, etc. along with the babies in the book. Though she is too young to "push" on the pages to activate them, I push on the objects she reaches toward. I would encourage anyone who purchased the Little Touch for an infant or young toddler to try this book before giving up and putting the toy aside. This is the Little Touch book for little ones! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Swing!
We bought this swing for a 20-month old toddler. We connected it to a Little Tikes swing set. It is the perfect height from the ground so that in the months ahead, her feet won't drag. The leg holes are wide enough for shoes to get in and out easily.
She loves it! I bought an extra one to send to her daycare provider. A must have for toddlers!

Great swing!
My son received this swing for his first birthday and he loves it! I love it because it is easy to get him in and out of it. He also sits up straighter than other swings we have had and he likes that. Good buy!

My son's too big
He received this as a gift for his 1st birthday. He is a big boy, at the time, he was 30 lbs and 36 inches and was almost too big for it when he received it. Six months later, we can get him in ok, but he gets stuck getting him out. He loves to swing, but it takes 2 people to maneuver this thing (one to hold him and the other to disengage his legs and pull the swing). Our only other option would be to sit his bottom in it and leave his legs dangling over the top. I'm not very comfortable with him swinging that way because I worry he could fall out. I'm currently shopping for a larger swing with a back that will last until he can balance himself on a big kids swing.

Fun to swing
We bought this swing when my daughter was only 9 months old. We love it. It swings well, is sturdy and comfy! She is now 2 1/2 and she STILL loves it.

4-0 out of 5 stars lots of fun
i purchased this swing after checking them all out at the store. this one seemed to be the best one and easiest to get the baby in and out of. the only problem i have had with it is that it is a little high but its not that big a deal. the seat belt is secure, which is very important. my son loves it ... Fun scooter but....
I bought this scooter for my twins 5th birthday. There is NO way a 12 month old can ride it. I think it would be difficult for a 3 year old as well. My girls do like it. Though it would be nice if it had training wheels. It is a great tool to teach balance. I would recommend this scooter and so would my girls. ... Read more

Anyone home? With the Magic Doorbell Playhouse, new friends canannounce their arrival by leaning on the electric doorbell. (Requiresthree AAA batteries, not included.) Once through the red half-door,they'll find a cozy play space that has all the comforts of home, including a kitchen corner with stove, microwave, and cordless phone.Forty-four inches high internally, the house has a pleasing blue "tile"roof and tan exterior walls that are half "masonry," half "board," aswell as a lot of nice touches, like a pointed blue lintel over thefront door. The all-plastic exterior measures 48 by 32 inches; adultassembly is required, but it snaps together quickly and easily.--Richard Farr ... Read more

Great Playhouse
We got this for our daughter when she was 16 months. I purchased it on sale at the store and saved $50. It stayed in our living room for two weeks as she loved it so much! My husband put it together and really the only difficulty he had with putting the screws in was that you need to get inside the house to do it and it's a wierd angle. Even with that it still took less than a half hour to put together. If you are putting it together inside make sure you have a door wide enough for it to fit through. We assumed it would fit through our slider and when we moved it out it was just a hair to wide with the roof on. So we had to take the screws back out. Still not really a problem and more our fault than anything. My nephews (3 and 6) have come over to play and also had a ball with the house. I'm glad we purchased it when she was small so that she'll get several years of use from it. It is very sturdy so I have no worries that it won't last for her and any other children we may have. It has a cute little kitchen inside and the doorbell makes quite a few different sounds. I see no reason to spend $300 or more on a house when this one is just as fun and durable and as I said you can get it for $99 on sale at the store. I only gave it four stars for educational because for older kids it probably isn't but the little ones can practice opening and closing the door and shutters and pushing the doorbell. It really isn't the type of toy you'd purchase for educational purposes. Overall it's a great product. One of the few toys we have that I don't feel was a waste of money.

A helpful note.
My original review for this house was on Dec. 23, 2002. It's still in our living room and our almost 4 1/2 and 3 1/2 boys still love playing with it. Probably this Summer we'll finally put it outside! Anyway, I'm writting to let folks know that there ISN'T susposed to be any pre-drilled holes for the screws. The idea is for the insertion of the screws to bore their own "hole" into the plastic. This makes the installation more tight and secure. Yes, of course you're going to need an electric screwdriver! It really isn't that difficult to get the screws in with the electric screwdriver. Drilling holes first to enable "easier" screw insertion may very well leave you with a loose and wobbly house once together if you make the holes even a bit too large. Hope this is helpful for you.

great toy
My 20 month old loves it. Only one thing you should know before you start putting it together, you really need a cordless screw driver. You can do it without one, but it won't be any fun.

WONDERFUL!!!
My Parents bought this for my 15 mth old twins. I can't say enough how much they love this little house! I would recommend this to any and everyone with a toddler.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not going to last until age 5
I got this toy for my child when she was one and she liked the door bell and door a lot. My child is two and she has to duck when she goes in or out of the house. I would get this for your child when your child is able to walk. If you have a short child, it might last until 5. She turns three in May 04 and I guess I will find out if it make it to three or not next year. I would look and see what you want to get your child. A swing set might be a better bargin. In short, I thought I got a toy for at least four years. It made it two. ... Read more

If you're 3 years old, and your main mission in life is toarrest all the Bad Guys, it's a shame not to have the transportation tocatch up with them. Hours (or at least half-hours) of Fun
This is a very cute toy. My nephew loved the old car, and so I'm buying the police car for my daughter, age two.

Unsafe at any speed
I strongly reccomend the sedan. The coupe is downright dangerous.

A twist to a classic...
My son received this car for his 2nd birthday and was an instant hit! He enjoyed playing with the walkie talkie and running around all over the yard and house with it. His sister would pile in next to him just for the ride. This is the same great quality as the yellow/orange car but with a couple of extra features. My son is into trucks, fire trucks, police cars so this was a perfect gift for him. He loves to tell people that the real police have a car LIKE HIS! In a yrs time we have had no problems with this toy and is still in great condition - the only problem we have ever had is my son wants it in the house so he can play with it when it's raining or snowing out! Another great product from Little Tikes.

My son loves it!
We bought this for Christmas when my son was 18 months old. He loves it. Everytime I try and put it away he pulls it back out. It was a bit difficult to put together without some real muscle power. We have had a few tip overs that others have mentioned, particularly when the door is open. My biggest problem is the steering wheel will not stay in. At 21 months my son can pull it out with ease- now I can't even push it back in.

Great Buy!
We bought this for our son when he turned 1. He LOVED it and still loves it (he's 2 now). It's well put together and great for hours of fun. I know he'll be enjoying this car for may years. I'd highly recommend it to anyone! ... Read more

One of the best purchases ever!
My daughter has had the links since birth and now at almost 9 months she still loves them. I used them initially as entertainment for her car seat. She used to cry when we put her in her car seat until we attached these to the handle. At about three months she reached out and touched them and has never let go. They wash up in the washer and look like new time and time again. A great purchase that every child should have!

Keeping my little one busy
I ...saw one of these toys on an infant car seat and the baby loved it! I looked for the toy ... found and bought it. It was one of the best toys I've invested in! I have four children and wish I had one of these toys for the others when they were infants! My Anthony is now 8 months and is grabbing and pulling the toy himself. I recommend this toy for all babies!

Wonderful take-along toys!
I thought these toys were a bit pricey, but once I attached them to my 3 month old son's carseat and saw his face light up...I knew I made the right choice by buying it! You can attach them to the carseat, swing, gymini, etc. They can go wherever baby goes! When you pull on the bug, he "buzzes" and vibrates. The octopus squeaks and has a eyecatching hologram on the bottom. The turtle will be great once my son starts to teethe. For now, my baby just loves looking at them, and they keep him happy in his carseat. ... Read more

Simply put the Move ‘n Groove Dance Mat on the floor and let your child dance the day away. The keyboard makes six different notes, the instrument icons play various tunes, and when the picture of Barney is stepped on, he will issue instructions to step on the blue footprint, step on the red footprint, etc., and even congratulate the child when she steps on the correct spot. The furry, inflatable Barney figure spins around when music plays, an effect that would be better if he didn't tilt weirdly to one side. Nonetheless, Barney is still a nice bonus with this mat since, being removable, he is a fun toy in his own right. True, the combinations of things you can do may be limited, but the physical and interactive qualities of this toy are a big plus. --David Stoesz ... Read more

wow im 25 and i still like this
this thing is so much fun it teaches people to dance move n groove barney is off the fisle fashisle dawg. so buy this thing for yourself and experiance the fun and joy of barney. barneys fun fun fun

Barney Dance Mat, not so Super Duper
The Barney doll is a blow-up doll and does not stand up properly on the stand even when it is at filled at capacity with air. It just turned out to be a big noise-making mat that our toddler dances on.

Fun, but Barney Deflates
We may have purchased a defective one then because Barney will either deflate while trying to spin or he will come out the base (I even tried to double-tape the bottom of his feet to the base, but that didn't work either). My 2 year old loved this toy, but since Barney doesn't stay put (or deflated), it made her upset, so we ended up throwing it out. I didn't realize that not everyone had this problem (from the other reviews I have read). Maybe, we just purchased a "bad" one or something.

Great toy for a two year old who likes to dance!
My 18 mnth old loves this toy. She loves to dance with him even though she can't understand the steps yet. She especially loves to pick Barney up and run off with him! It's one of her favorite toys and my 6 mos old laughs when he hears Barney talk. He thinks it's really cool that Barney is in our house. (:

Don't understand all the bad reviews!
My 2 year old just received this toy yesterday and she and my 3 year old can't stop fighting over it!! They both just love it. The people who complained about blowing it up must have never blown up a beach ball before!!! It took me maybe 5 or 6 breaths to inflate it. And after hours of play.........Barney's still standing. This is the first toy review I've written and the only reason I wrote it is because I strongly disagree with all the poor reviews. It may not be the most educational toy but it's great exercise for the kids!!! ... Read more

This sturdy plastic car gives toddlers and young preschoolers the basic thrills of a real car, while parents can relax, knowing that this cherry-red sports car can go only as fast as their kids' little feet can carry them. Children sit on a bench-style driver's seat and poke their legs through to the ground. When they start walking, the car begins to scoot. The front wheels swirl like stroller wheels, making them especially responsive to the steering wheel. The front dash features a pretend key with a Little Tikes key chain and a horn button that beeps when pushed. A small storage bin in back can carry traveling gear or simply a stash of road snacks. Great Purchase
I bought this for my daughter two years ago and now I am passing it down to my son. It is still in great shape and he loves it.

Cute!
My two year old nephew is the proud new owner of a red and yellow Cozy Coupe. Oh boy, did he go nuts when the box walked in the house. Silly us, we should have put the car together first, as he was climbing in to drive before the wheels were even attached!

The Cozy Coupe has been with us for a few weeks now and it hasn't lost it's luster. It is still the hippest hottest toy around. In fact, our little guy would be satisfied if he could play drive thru and eat while in his car and go to the drive-in and watch his movies while in his car! We have to coax him out of his car.

If you are looking for a durable car for your little one, Little Tikes is the way to go.

There GREAT
My boys absoultely LOVE these!!! Keeps them busy for at least an hour. Which is hard to do w/ 2 1/2 yr olds!! They "pretend" they are going to see grandma, grandpa, and other family and freinds. Yes they were not easy to put together and on one of ours the door does not completly shut, its ok though, they still have fun.

Boy, you just can't wear these cars out!
You HAVE to buy this car! Either this one or the police car - they're just so very durable that nothing gets in their way. Ours has gone through 8 children already, and it's still going strong. My nephews used to roll down the driveway with one hanging on the roof and just had a ball with it. And, it goes way past the recommended age limit on the fun factor. I've seen 8-year-olds in them and just having a great time. A great toy by Little Tikes and if you have a Wiggles fan in your house, it doubles as a "Big Red Car." We had this before they came out with a Big Red Car so that's how we've used ours. Very nice toy and WELL worth every penny we paid!

Great but hard to put together
My daughter is 13 months and loves this toy!!! However, it's a real pain to put together as the instructions are pictograms and there aren't any words. I would highly recommend it, but be warned it is a pain to put together. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes a great gift
I think this is a great product. It supports my son when he is sitting up and he loves to play with it. I have noticed older children like to curl up with it while watching television. I think this would make a nice gift because it is unique. Unlike most baby toys and products, we will get years of use out of the Activity Dino.

5-0 out of 5 stars Expensive rubbish - waste of money !
We recently ordered Dino for our 6 month old son, thinking we could use it initially to help him sit up and then later as a fun rough-and-tumble toy. What arrived was a small overstuffed sock with a few "crinkly" spines. The quality of the material was cheap and nasty and the construction is appauling. As for the "roar" of the nose - we could barely hear a squeak. Needless to say, we returned this "toy" immediately. Don't waste your money - a pillow with a decorative face would be just as good and at least the cover would be washable ! AWFUL !!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves this!!!
My mother-in-law bought this for my son when he was a few months old. I never imagined he would love it as much as he does. When he was 3 or 4 months old it helped prop him up and he would look at it and pat it. Now, at 7 months he wrestles with it and plays with the spines on the back to hear the different noises. He loves the crinkly and shiny fabric. He tries to squeeze the nose which makes a great roaring sound. His eyes light up every time he sees dino!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars my little one has had a grate time with it
My daughter Nicole got this from her godmother, she was about six months, so anyway... she liked it because of the color and stuff and we mostly used it for support -since she kept falling backwards- then when she was a couple of months older she would used it as a pillow (a rather tall one) to rest her head on while watching t.v, and when it was time to take a nap she loved to curl into a fetal position and place her back against it (she still does this, while sucking her thumb)she liked it so much we tried to put it in her crib, but found it too big. Now we've had it for some time and kept it in a corner of the living room, so she could get it when she wanted to watched t.v. One of these days I heard her giggle through the baby monitor and went to check on her, I found her rolling around the floor with it hugged tightly against her, then she placed herself on top of it and sit back and rode it as a horsie... a few days after I found her asleep on top of it, with her thumb in her mouth and her legs streched back and crossed together. She likes this thing so much she won't use anything else to watch t.v or take a nap with, almost everytime we get home the first thing she does is run to it, pull it to the middle of the room and just have fun. It's really amazing -to me anyway- how she hasn't ger tired of it.
The only thing is that sometimes when it's time to go to bed at night she wants to sleep either on top or with it, and she's always saying "no, mama, no!" when I trie to take her upstairs for bedtime OR she says "no, daddy, no" in the most sweetest of voices, with her big blue eyes puppy-stile and a pout and my husband gives right up and lets her have it her way.
But I don't think that's such a bad thing cause she's a heavy sleeper and she doesn't wake up when we take her to her room. Nothing more to say except... I ADORE THIS FREAKING TOY, and more important, SHE ADORES IT EVEN MORE. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it
My son loves this toy and we both dance to the music part. He now uses the block as a chew or bite toy I can't really tell the difference

5-0 out of 5 stars Educational and entertaining
My daughter is 18 mos and has had this toy for over 3 mos and plays with it every single day she has managed to learn how to put the cube in the storybook and loves flipping through the pages and as she continues to grow I think this toy will continue to be one of her favorites. It is easy to carry and it all fits together nicely it is also durable as my daughter has put it to the test many times by throwing it off her high chair. It also does NOT go through batteries as quickly as other toys do. It has been one of the best toys I have bought her! Well worth the money especially since it can keep her entertained for hours!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Pre-Reading Fun
My 17 month old received this for christmas last year and he hasn't stopped playing with it. He was 5 months old when he got it and laughed at the "chick chick chick" songs. Now he knows the animals and can match the right animal to the correct page. It is a good learning toy because it looks like a little book and the voice reads the words on each page. He still enjoys this toy - much more than many others he has received since then.

5-0 out of 5 stars my son loves this
My son got this for his first birthday and at 18 months it's still one of his favorite toys. He presses Tad to hear the song over and over again. And he can put the block in to hear the animal sounds though he can't match the animal on the block with the one on the page yet. I forsee at least another year of delight with this toy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not all it is cracked up to be...
This had the potential to be my son's favorite toy. It had all of his favorite things, pages to turn, sound, and a block to fit places. However he became VERY Frustrated at the fact that you move the page even a little bit and it would start reading all over again. He liked to hear the song, but as soon as he would touch the page to get leverage or whatever, it would start to read. This book ended up getting thrown all over the place because it made him so mad. After a few months, I ended up giving it to my nephew. The concept is great, it can just be frustrating to a little one when they want it to do one thing and it keeps doing something else... ... Editorial Review

Kids will be educated and entertained playing this jack-in-the-box game with Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar and Ernie. The popular Sesame Street characters hide away in their vessels (a trash can, bathtub, cookie jar, and alphabet block) until they are freed by a tiny finger on a lever or button. They pop out with songs that match their popular personalities--Oscar lovely trash, Elmo's alphabet, Ernie's ducky and bubbles, and Cookie Monster's cookies, of course. The button and levers make interesting sounds as well. It's a good, repetitive lesson in cause-and-effect that's lots of fun for toddlers. Still, it's not much more than a jack-in-the box if grownups are looking for a toddler toy with more learning channels. Required: 3 AA batteries. --Diane Beall ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My son is 6mths old, and he loves this!!! He loves banging on them to push them down, then I will pop them up and sing to him.. I know one day he will learn how to pop them up and know the words to the song. This is such a cute toy.

Great Toy
My 1 year old daughter received this toy for her birthday and loved it. She is 2 years old now and she still likes to press the buttons and pop up the characters. It is a great toy because there are no little pieces to have to pick up and it is great for the car too!

Too hard for little hands!!
My daughter received this as a gift when she was a year old. At first there was very little interest in it, but I think by 18months she was definitely interested. The only problem is that she didn't have the strength in her little hands to press and navigate the buttons on this to make the pop-ups sing. So she would mostly just pull up their little heads herself. If an adult played this with her though, she found it very amusing and would laugh. Now she sings along with it, which is very cute but she's almost 2 and isn't really interested in it any longer.

Great Birthday Present
My son got this as a birthday present, he loved it from the moment he opened the gift bag. Great product!

Big success
My son couldn't stop playing with this toy at a friend's house so I bought one for him. He still plays with it for a longer amount of time than his other toys. It was great for traveling too. And yes parents, you will not be able to get these songs out of your head! ... Read more

Adorable
Got this for my 20 month old son; I thought maybe its a lil' too late introducing this toy - Boy was I wrong - He loves to play with it and when I arrange the soft toy pins - he goes around saying 1, 2 :-)
Recommend for kids under 24 months

Best "little ones" toy, and no batteries.
Love this toy! Animal "pins" are easy for little guys('n'gals) to set up, AND knock down. And furniture (and people) is (are) safe from overactive or poorly aimed throws. Great for building motor skills, and the "pins" are really cute. I also liked that they are numbered, as this gives game possibilities room to grow. Great for him (or her) to play alone or with you. We need more toys like this!!!
HIGHLY RECOMENDED for little ones.
(good price too)

So cute!
The pictures of this toy don't begin to do it justice in terms of how darn cute this toy is! It is just so adorable. The suggested age is 18 months and up but I think it's also great for babies 8 months and up. The bowling "pins" are soft, cuddly farm animals that your child will love to hug and snuggle with. The bowling "ball" is a soft, fuzzy stuffed ball that can be squeezed and batted around without doing any damage whatsoever. I can't imagine any child not being absolutely entranced by this lovely toy. ... Read more
