Editorial Review

Ah, even in inclement weather, it can be summertime in the playroom. And what's more summery than the age-old tradition of charring goodies over a flame? This toy barbecue grill for tots makes sizzling and grilling sounds, and has a bed of red "coals" that light up. A toy burger, drumstick, sesame seed buns, and veggies can be flipped with a spatula (all included) on the toy range, which has a lift-up lid, pushcart handle, storage space, and wheels. The grill is hollow, lightweight, and attracts the eye with primary colors. It's perfect for kids 2 to 4 years old, but please remind them that the grill does not work with real food--or fire, for that matter. Three AAA batteries, and adult assembly, required. --Diane Beall ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves this grill!
This past Christmas I looked all over for a barbeque grill for my son, so he could be like grandpa. Every place seemed to have the same one with a green top and eyes on it, but I was looking for something a little different. This one looked better than the other styles I had been seeing. This barbeque sounds like it is actually lighting up when he presses the green button. He plays with it so much we need to replace the batteries again. Awesome product!

My son, now almost three, and the children I babysit love this toy. We have had it for a year now, and it is played with every day. I haven't had any problems with the lid coming off, maybe once or twice in a year. It is such a great toy for pretending, and he loves to cook on the grill just like his Daddy. GREAT!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lid falls off
My two boy's, age's 3 and 16 months received this as a christmas gift. They really love playing with it, especially the youngest. The only problem is the lid is constantly falling off. I was a little surprised by this since Little Tikes toys are usually made better. Other than that the kids enjoy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite Gift !
We gave this to our 18 month old grandson for Christmas. He received lots of other toys but this by far has been his FAVORITE! He loves to light the coals and pretend to cook. It's very durable and easy to push around. Little Tikes have the best and most sturdy toys! We love them!

We have not a good experience with the shipping of the Little Tikes Grill and Glow elctric BBQ. The site says it will ship between 3 and 5 days. We received an e-mail saying it wasn't going to be delivered until Jan. 14. When my husband contacted the customer servie department. They were rude and said there was nothing that could be done. The site currently says it will ship before Christmas. So Beware of ordering! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
I bought this for my son when he was 15 months old, and he loved it right away. It holds his attention for hours...amazing! The three doors on the bottom open and close w/o worry for pinched fingers, which satisfies his need to open and close things all day long. All of his friends love it too! A suggestion though, this exact item is $79.98 at Toys R Us.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best kitchen there is !!!!!
We bought this for our daughter (then 15 months) at christmas time. It has been the first thing she goes to every morning since. It is so realistic and fun, she loves pretending to cook and do dishes. We have bought some more play food since christmas and the cupboards have plenty of room to store it all! I think this is one of the best big ticket items you could buy....and will grow with your child for years to come! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Like Mommy's Kitchen
My 2-year-old daughter got this kitchen for Christmas and loved it! I loved the fact it didn't have many little pieces like the other play kitchens had. The kitchen comes with pretend food, however there are no pots, pans, or utensils. Littles Tikes makes a set for this kitchen with pots and pans-I would recommend buying it. And Little Tikes = DURABLE. The stove, faucet, microwave all make true to life noises. And my daughter loves to poke her head through the window. My husband and I put it together ourselves. It took us about an hour, not that difficult. My daughter loved it because it was so much like Mommy's kitchen. I have no complaints whatsoever. This toy was well worth the money we spent ($100 at Toys R Us around Christmas). My daughter had peeled off some of the stickers (she does that to all her toys) and Little Tikes sent me replacement ones for FREE! This is a MUST BUY!

5-0 out of 5 stars Our L'il Tyke loves this!
My granddaughter is turning two this week and we bought her this kitchen after doing a lot of research on price, durability and fun. At this age, it's hard to find toys that will keep their attention for longer than 5 minutes. She LOVES this! From looking thru the window, washing her hands in the pretend sink, opening and closing the doors, and her favorite is the microwave. She LOVES buttons! She doesn't care much for some of the sounds, for example, she puts her hands over her ears and walks away when the "water" noise comes on. She can't identify the food yet so the "interaction" about cooking the chicken or the macaroni and cheese and the instruction about not forgetting to clean up, goes right over her head. Perhaps as she gets older she'll appreciate it. When I'm trying to focus her attention AWAY from something, like the TV, I just say: Do you want to go wash your hands? Or Do you want to press the buttons? and she goes running for her kitchen. Needless to say, I highly recommend this toy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very pleased!!!
We bought this for our 2 year old daughter who loves kitchens. We didn't want to buy the most expensive one because she loves any kitchen set. This one has great sounds and features. She was already playing with it when I pulled it out of the box, and it wasn't even put all the way together. She has played with it so much since we got it yesterday. It doesn't come with a lot of dishes, but she is happy with what came with it. At 2, she doesn't need so many dishes, she'll just lose them right now anyway. She has some from a picnic set. I recommend this product highly. And I got it on sale, so that was a bonus!!!!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Aesome Product
I purchased this item for my daughter for her 1st Birthday and she LOVES it.I wanted to buy her a kitchen set because she is always playing with my cabinets so I thought we'd buy her,her own.I was a little hesitant after seeing others in the stores because my daughter is short for her age(only 28 inches),but this is the perfect height for her!It is recommended for ages 2+ but I think a 2 year old might be a litle too big to fully enjoy this toy.If you are looking for a kitchen set for a younger chil this is perfect. It comes already assembled(even stickers placed)right out of the box.I ordered it online on a Sunday it arrived on Friday!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars durable
This particular item is very safe and durable for kids.
It last long and can be recycled down the line. The beauty of this toy it keeps kids very active in the kitchen and out the parents hair for a while. My niece she will be 2yrs old soon and she loves to cook, she is always in the kitchen trying to help her mom cook with her plastic containers so this is perfect for her, and i know she will enjoy this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Kitchen for toddlers!
We just purchased this for our daughter's Christmas and it was a hit! The best feature, IMO, is the full-size fridge. This is my daughter's fav part to play with. The phone would come in a very close second. Although, she will outgrow it within a year or two I think it is sized just right and the picture is a good indicator of it's size. Her head comes to the top which is perfect! It is built very sturdy and the only thing I would change is the shelves inside the fridge which are not exactly flat so her small play milk bottles that are light will fall over easily but for bigger sturdier play food it is perfect! I highly recomend this little kitchen for you 1-2.5 year old!

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice and Sturdy, but Small
This item is made out of sturdy, thick plastic. No assembly required (the stickers are even already on). It has all the appliances you could want in a kitchen--fridge, dishwasher, oven, microwave, and even a phone--with plenty of storage space for dishes and play food. However, it does not come with any accessories. Also, the sink handle does not move (so baby can't pretend to turn it off or on), and sink does not have a removable basin. The electronic phone (with sounds) is a nice feature, and was a major selling point in my decision to purchase this item. Please be aware that this item is for SMALL children. My daughter is not even 2 (and average height) and it is just right for her now, so she will probably outgrow it in a year or two. The height is actually just over 30 inches (this site shows it as over 36 inches, but I think the height and width must be reversed). Overall, a solid product, but I was disappointed in the size.

Cute but hard to play and Annoying
My daughter really liked her new grill, she was very excited to see her new toy as she really likes cooking and kitchen toys. The idea of getting this kind of toy was good but this toy was disappointing....the eyes and the mounth moves as the grill talks but when it moves it creates NOISE from moving aside from the annoying talking which never ends. I really like the idea of talking grill, keeps the kid from getting bored but it should only talk when a button is pressed or something, this thing scared me in the middle of the night when it started to talk, I almost called cops. plastic food is had to flip...I agree with the rest of the reviews on this page and would not recomend spending $$$$ on this

Ashley's not so happy
My daughter is 2 1/2 an tomboy at heart. This grill scared her. I thought that it was a lot of fun to play with but the constant talking and shaking made her not want to come near the thing. What a shame. This is a toy that should be tested out in the store first.

An good toy, but for younger babies.
The talking grill was given to our ten month old boy. He loves it. He gets excited when it talks, and he likes to kneel at the grill, grabbing onto the "food", which ends up in his mouth. We wish it had a shut-off button and it does tend to go off when no one is around, but since he loves it, we live with it. I could see how older children would get tired of it, but it's great for my ten month old.

Never Again
The thing doesn't SHUT UP!! It starts talking when a dust particle floats in front of it. She even got so annoyed with it that we finally had to take the batteries out! The lid is so hard to get back on. The accessories are cute but now worth the $35 I paid for it!

Don't buy it!
I wish I had read the reviews on this before I bought it. The lid comes off too easily and is difficult to get back on. The food is too hard for little ones to scoop up, and it starts talking when the wind blows or someone walks by it. Very annoying! ... Read more

Watch out Emeril! Future Gourmet Chef at work!
We got this for our daughter's 2nd birthday after reading ALL the reviews, and even wrote to Step 2 FIRST to inquire about some common problems. The dishrack HAS been fixed and the dishes don't fall out. The instructions don't seem to be in a logical order: we put the decals on FIRST while the pieces are easier to get to(which are very forgiving: you can remove if not lined up right!); make SURE you have batteries (12 AA for the Dream kitchen); put spindles and door/drawer knobs on before assembling big pieces together. Just seems to make more sense that way. Took about an hour for the 2 of us to assemble. Some holes are NOT drilled, so have a drill on hand. The fridge door is fine on ours, but the keypad next to the microwave is not quite centered, so the microwave door catches on it and is hard to open and close. Maybe can remedy by redrilling the top hole for keypad. Also like the idea of taping a string behind keypad for ease of removing to change batteries.

Lots of FUN sounds and "boiling/sizzling" sounds also stop on their own after about a minute. Daughter LOVES it so far! Well Worth the money, but shop around: found $15 difference in shipping cost from here to Target.com. VERY durable: 20lb cat jumped up on it - didn't tip or move at all! After the assembly, you'll love it! Hope/expect to have many years of fun play out of it!

The Best Kitchen Out There
My daughter received this kitchen for Christmas when she was
1 1\2. I was worried she wouldn't be interested in it, i thought maybe she was a little young, but she started to play with it right away, and hasn't stopped since. Everyday she is cooking Mommy something. It wasn't as hard to put together as i thought, and it is very durable. My daughter plays rough, and not one thing is broken or cracked. My only regret for this kitchen is it doesn't have a lot of counterspace. Ever since she got it, everyone wants to buy her blenders, and coffepots, and toasters, but there is no room to put it in her kitchen. Also my daughter wishes the faucet made noise. it is a great value for the money as well. It's is the only kitchen I could find that wasn't pink & purple, and I plan to have a boy eventually, and I try to buy larger toy items that can be used by either a girl ot a boy. This is a GREAT value, and anyone in the market for a kid's kitchen should definitely purchase this one.

Well worth the money!
I bought this for my daughter's 2nd birthday and she loves it. It keeps her occupied like no other toy she has. She loves to help me in the kitchen and now she has her own, her size. I read other reviews about this product and I didn't have any of the problems other people say they did. It was easy to put together, I do, however, recommend using an electric screwdriver, it'll go much faster that way. My daughter thinks the overhead light is the coolest thing ever and no worries, it shuts itself off within minutes if they forget to. So no wasting batteries. This kitchen is well worth the money I paid for it and has all the storage space they could need for thier dishes and food. My only complaint, actually it's more my daughters, is that she wishes the faucet made noise like everything else does.
Anyway, all the doors fit right and it is sturdy. My advice is just take your time assembling it. I'd say it took me about an hour to put it all together, decals and all.

And I LOVE that it is the only kitchen out there that is not pink and purple. It suits either a boy or a girl. It was very easy to put together and you dont have to worry about it tipping over onto anyone. The bottm is heavy enough to support the wieght on the top. Great for a horse or animal enthusiast
My 4-year old daughter got this 8 months ago and it is a winner. The two compartments, many doors, storage areas and folding fence give her all she needs to make her space for her many horses and other animals. It gets used every day and nothing has broken.

Worth the money
This play barn is exactly what I was looking for for my 4 year old son who is a Horse enthusiast. It is much bigger than I expected, beautiful, and has lots of opening doors and gates. It also comes with a fence that folds up and stores neatly in the barn. This barn is big enough for Breyer horses, and has an a swing out side. It was a great purchase and highly recommended.

Nice barn for toy horses
Just got this item today and I am impressed with it's compatibility for various sizes of toy horses. I especially love the fact that it can be folded up to a smaller size to be tucked into a closet when needed.

This barn has multiple doors that open-some slide and other's are dutch doors. We do have another barn of this type that has the dutch doors and the hinge's fell apart right away. I am hoping this one will be better since the doors do seem to open and close more smoothly on this particular barn...but need to stress that the kids need to be somewhat 'gentle' with these dutch doors so they don't break the hinges. The manufacturer really should attach them with metal hinges and they would last alot longer.

Overall...I feel my kids are going to get alot of enjoyment out of this barn. ... Read more

Dinner's on! A cute toy for budding chefs, this make-believe kitchen lets preschoolers pretend they're cooking along with mom and dad, and features a couple of chatty appliances: Bake the Oven, Zap the Microwave, and Mixy the Blender. Pressing the red buttons on the stovetop makes them talk ("Hey, Mixy--what's shakin'?" "I am!"), while Bake the Oven's eyes and mouth move. There's also a whole spread of plastic food and utensils, including a freshly baked pie, a slice of pizza, a sauté pan, and a pair of sunny-side-up eggs. This pretend kitchen is a wonderful toy to keep toddlers occupied while you're trying to cook dinner. And, for those who are short on kitchen space, this kitchen playset sets up into a full-size kid's kitchen and then folds flat to store in a closet when playtime is done. The play kitchen features an oven and refrigerator that really open and a two-burner stove with dials that make cooking sound effects, such as sizzling or bubbling, when turned. The set comes with 18 different accessories, including a phone, a covered pot, a pan, two plates, two glasses, two forks, two spoons, a spatula, a serving spoon, a salt shaker, and several fake food items--a fried egg, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. At first glance, assembly looks daunting, but well-diagramed instructions make setup fairly easy. This playset requires three AA batteries to power the sound effects. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Great Imagination for toddlers
My 2 year old toddler love this kitchen. It really does keep her busy when I'm busy in the kitchen. It gives her recognition of things around the kitchen. It is very cute and fun!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT .....
I LOVE IT AND SO DOES MY DAUGHTER WHO JUST TURNED TWO YESTERDAY (SHE RECIEVED IT FOR HER BIRTHDAY. THE ONLY THING WRONG IS THE OVEN DOOR HAS A PROBLEM STAYING CLOSED. I DID NOTICE THE SAMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE FLOOR MODEL AT TOYSRUS, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE FLOOR MODEL. I WAS WRONG. HOWEVER I WAS ABLE TO REINFORCE OVEN DOOR LATCH WITH SCOTCH TAPE. OVERALL ITS A REALLY GREAT TOY FOR ANY LITTLE GIRL AGES 1 1/2 UP TO 3 YEARS OF AGE. HOUR AND HOURS OF FUN!!!

Happy Happy Mom
I wasn't sure if this kitchen was the right one to get for my 18 mo. old daughter, after reading the reviews, but I am so glad that we did! When we got it home, the screws were missing and so was the phone. I called ToysRUS and they simply gave me the missing parts, no problems! Like other families, our oven door falls open sometimes but not to the point where it is bother some. My daughter plays with it so much that it is usually open anyway. It was great that we didn't need to purchase any other dishes or food since it came with all that we need for right now. I even find myself enjoying the time that I spend playing with the kitchen! This really is a must have for any little girl who loves to pretend and have tons of fun!

it costs less because it doesn't work!
I bought this kitchen on impulse the day before my 2 yr old's b-day party. Big mistake. If I had only read the reviews first. Everyone is correct, the OVEN DOOR DOES NOT STAY CLOSED! My daughter was frustrated because she kept stepping on it each time she tried to get close enough to play. We finally taped it closed. The sounds worked for a minute and then we never heard them again...needless to say, this really irritated her too. WE RETURNED IT AND TRADED IT UP FOR A BETTER KITCHEN! This set may cost less than the others, but you are getting what you pay for--a cheap item that falls apart and doesn't work properly! Did anyone at Fisher Price test this thing?

Great except for oven door
Like several other reviewers, I cannot get the oven door to stay shut. But the kids don't mind. They haven't stopped playing with it, and now I have some quiet time to sit online and shop for staples for their new kitchen. ... Read more

Simple pleasure!
We got this for our 2 yr old but her 4 yr old sister enjoys it also. We have several other food type toys with plastic food but none of them are as well liked or stimulates so much interactive play. The other plastic toys are handed to you if you ask but with this set, the kids insist on telling you what they are going to give you and enjoy separating each piece for service. Also can use to attach pieces that don't belong to get the kids to work on sorting and motor skills. I thought the velcro might wear out too quickly but it is still going strong after 6 months of heavy play. Also nice that the food items are really health choices, no meat or cookies. Very simple and well made and surprisingly loved!

Fun for EVERYONE!
We got this for my 2 1/2 year old son for Christmas, since he always wants to help cook. Everyone played with it for hours, from adults to tweens to teenagers to toddlers. It really sparks pretend cooking and imaginary play. My son has created "sandwiches" and "stew" as well as many non-food "things" with the peices. I'd highly recommend it to anyone and plan to give it as a gift to many kids (and their parents!)

A must for parents who want gross motor skills sharpened
This product is a high quality product. This toy stimulates gross motor skills and the love for kitchen stuff. My daughter will play with it for hours and she loves the real cutting action and then velcroing them back together. This product is used by alot of Occupational Therapist with small children.

What a great toy
My 3-year-old son likes being able to cut his own vegetables, fruits and breads as I prepare dinner. I don't have to worry about his reaching for my sharp knife - he prepares his "stew" beside me. He can play with this toy for hours, and engages lots of adults.

So Fun!
What a great toy - our 11 month old daughter just got this for her birthday and she loves it. Her two friends - 3 years old - also love it and so i know our daughter will play with this one for years -- and it looks like it will last as long. ... Read more

Really great play food
This is a really great set of play food. All made from wood and seems like it will last forever. We've had ours for about a year now and the paint hasn't even chipped. My son does play with this food almost every day. One minor down side is that my son would like the "boxes" to open. Since the picture isn't too clear the crate come with salt, mustard, ketchup, pasta, rice, soup, ice cream, orange juice, sugar, cereal, pretzels, and waffles.

We love it

5-0 out of 5 stars WELL WORTH IT
I bought this kitchen set for my daughter Brianna for her 3rd birthday. The counter top was a major pain. It took along time to get it hooked in right. We actually had to cut a little bit underneath to get it to fit right. Once we cut a little bit out of the one side it went right into place. The phone holder does not stay in. But this is not a negative review. Once you get past the counter top, assembly is a snap. The faucet makes running water sounds the phone works, the stove lights up and the grill makes sizzling sounds it is too cute. I also have a 7 year old and both my daughters absolutely love it. There is also a place to feed there baby dolls. They make burgers and hot dogs and it keeps them busy for hours which is nice for me.

Nice kitchen, but not for boys
This is such a great kitchen - it has all the bells and whistles and the stove and sink both have sounds and light up. However, it was VERY difficult to assemble (don't do it Christmas Eve) and many of the parts just do not fit properly. We never did get the phone to install correctly. In addition, the piece that goes inside the dishwasher and the stove is very flimsy, so much so that it is now bowed. This stove does come with quite a few cooking pieces so that's an added plus. It's a lot of fun for my little "Emeril" but find something more durable if you have a boy.

keeps attention for hours
I bought this for my twin grandchildren (almost3). They play with it nonstop for up to 4 hours. Its durable and they learn so much from it. They are boy and girl so it is good for any gender! And anything that can keep their attention for any length of time is worth the $$$$'s :)

hard to put together
This one is difficult to put together. Screws positioned where you cannot use a standard sized screwdriver. Snap in knobs do not snap in. impossible to attach phone holder. does not stand level on flat surface.

Great kitchen!
We bought this for our 18 month old daughter for Christmas so that she could play while I was cooking. She LOVES it! She immediately learned to say "hot dog", though she has never had one. She cooks pretend food and feeds us with the forks and spoons. She also enjoys putting all of her dishes away (in the oven, but who cares) and enjoys the fact that the buttons on the phone actually push and sound like a touch tone. The only drawback is that the phone holder doesn't stay on, but I think with a little modification, we can fix that. ... Read more

we have all!
all of us have seen a little child with fake fruit and one of those child sized shopping carts!. this is not the original fruit that came out in the early 1980's that was much nicer or the 80's repro fruit from the 90's but is a great runner up! trust me we all have also toched one of these fruits! usually the bannana or strawberrie!

High quality, realistic, fun food set!
My two-year-old received several food sets as a gift, and the Summit baskets were the best by far! The foods look realistic, (though perhaps are proportionally a bit smaller), and are durable, surviving tosses, being stepped on, bites, etc. The sets also promote healthier eating unlike some other sets. Very pleased with this attractive and sturdy food set! ... Read more

Let your child be King (or Queen) of the kitchen!!!
After watching our son play with the little tools that came with the Play-Doh set he received for his birthday, we decided to get him toys for a pretend kitchen. There are lots of "kitchen"-based toys on the market, but most of them are pink or focus on tea cups. We wanted one that wasn't boy or girl specific, and that would give our son tons of individual kitchen items to play with.

Imaginarium's 70-piece kitchen set is what we decided to get, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. For one thing, the sheer variety of kitchen utensils included is incredible. Besides the basic plates, forks, knives, spoons, etc, this set also includes a measuring cup, some tongs, and even a spatula! Almost every item my son used to take out of our kitchen cabinet is here.

To make room for all this, we cleared out a cabinet in our kitchen and put everything in it. Now our son can behave just like we do. This was important to us, because he's really starting to enjoy imitating us and we wanted to make this as close a replication as possible. He loves the idea of having his own kitchen utensils to fix his own meals for us.

Another nice thing about this set is that, for the most part, it's safe. There are some pointed items included (like the forks), but they aren't that sharp. And as long as your child doesn't run around with them, I don't think you'll have any trouble.

I should also mention this: We've REALLY enjoyed the amount of time these kitchen items occupy his time. In the morning, my wife and I are able to sit and eat our breakfast in relative peace while our son organizes his cabinet, feeds his stuffed animals, etc.

All in all, we feel we've definitely gotten our money's worth. If your child loves playing in the kitchen, you should definitely consider this set! ... Read more

Budding young pastry chefs can get some early training in the culinary arts with this pretend kitchen. Kids can make, bake, and decorate toy goodies in this workstation, which includes a refrigerator, overhead pantry, and side storage for ingredients; a stovetop with burners and knobs and an oven for cooking treats; and a sink for cleaning up. The magic oven appears to actually "bake" the seven different sweets that come with the kitchen by changing their color when "cooked." Kids can refer to the built-in cookbook to see what treats should look like before and after baking. An icing bag with a soft tip lets kids decorate their masterpieces after they come out of the oven. Other vital kitchen accessories in the set include a mixing bowl, a baking dish, two serving plates, a potholder, a pitcher, two water goblets, a spatula, a fork, a spoon, a whisk, a cake stand, four cake toppers, cake mix, a milk carton, an egg, and a phone. The oven operates on three D batteries (not included). --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

boring
We had bought this kitchen for my 20 month old daughter after we saw how much fun she had with a garage sale 1950's kitchen that a freind had. We chose the higher price tag kitchen hoping it would grow with her and for the snazzy picture on the box.

This kitchen is BORING!!
Only the stove makes noise or lights up and it cooks too long.
It does not have a sprayer for the sink and the pantry is too high. Also none of the accesories fit in the pantry. Also small children are not intrested in specially preparing to cook and have colors change they just want to walk up and play with it.
And the kitchen comes with lady bug stickers which once applied I could not remove and my daughter is afraid of them.
Even when she does attempt to play with this toy " she ends up yelling bug the whole time. I am very upset that I made a rash decision and paid (...) for this kitchen that is not up to parr when this will probably be the only kitchen she has. It would not make sense to buy yet another.

{Parents this is just one more reason to always check the online reveiw of toys)

Not worth the money!
We bought this for our daughters 3rd birthday. The kitchen we wanted to get her was not in stock at the time. She picked this one out, I think because of the colors and cookies in the picture.

I was not happy with it but I figured she liked it so that is all that mattered.

After it was put together I realized I really didn't like it and wanted to return it.

The refrigerator was cheesy, the plastic that it was made of was the kind that if she or her soon to be climbing brother climbed on it it would break into sharp pieces.

Every time she opened the oven door, it would hit her toes. I had to remember to freeze the part that goes in the oven so it would bake the dessert which I always forgot to do. Plus it was in our basement which is a bit on the cool side so the food never went back to the uncooked state.

The knob to turn on the oven was hard for me to move let alone my 3 year old.

I was not happy with this toy and I love Fisher Price toys too. (...)P>The only good thing about this kitchen was the play cups, they were cute.

Great Kitchen for Two
I got this for my two and four year old for christmas 2003. They play all the time with it. Remembering to keep the color changing device frozen can be hard but they play just as much without it. The oven door was a little hard to open at first but it has been broken in and works great now. I did not put this toy together so I do not know about the hardships of it. All I know is my girls love it and use it almost everyday. It came with two sets of color accessories so that worked out great. Even though one does not work as well as the other it pacifies the urge to not share.

FRUSTRATING!!
I bought this on sale AFTER Christmas in 2003 knowing it would be a good purchase for my 3 year old daughter. She LOVES to cook and was thrilled when I FINALLY got it put together.

I agree that the oven door NEVER shuts and the refrigerator door comes OFF all the time. We never could get the sounds to work.
BUT since I got it 50% off, it was worth that amount of money.

If you're paying full price, think again- spend a little extra and get a deluxe play kitchen.

Not to happy!
If I had it to do over again, I would not suggest this kitchen. The oven door does not stay closed and my daughter gets so mad trying to shut it over and over again. Even though all the items that come with this kitchen are cute, its not worth the hassle of making the food change colors. Think twice before you purchase this one!! ... Read more

EDITORIAL REVIEW

Have you ever seen such a pretty, pink kitchen? Maybe that's because this dainty little cluster of appliances don't really work. Still, this set is close enough to the real thing for kid-play, without making a mess for Mom or Dad. The Disney Princess kitchen features knobs and fixtures that make realistic sounds--the faucet, for example, makes rushing water sounds, and stove burners make cooking sounds. There's even a talking cookbook that recites "recipes" as kids turn its pages. The kitchen also has a roomy cupboard for storage, a stove clock with manual hands for time-telling games, a light-up oven, kitchen utensil rack, full tea service, and mobile phone for busy cooks. There are 18 accessories in all, for a fun foray into any kid's domestic fantasies. Parental help with assembly required.--Diane Beall ... Read more
