Baby and potty
This toy, although at times messy, appeals greatly to my 31/2 year old. I suggest you give it a try.

My daughter loves this doll!
My daughter loves this doll. She loves to carry her around and play with her. She loves to "feed" the doll as well, but it is a little difficult for her to push the bottle far enough into her mouth.

Some of the pieces that come with the doll can be easily lost, and the top of the potty sometimes wants to come out, but those are the main drawbacks. Also, in order to keep her pottying, I have to keep filling her bottle, and in order to avoid a mess, I have to continue emptying the potty.

She is a very pretty doll, however, and my daughter loves to play with her... whether she's making the doll go potty (which she only does on her potty chair) or whether she's just carrying her around the house.

Great potty teaching tool
I purchased one of these dolls a few weeks ago for my twins. I'd read and bought into the "Potty Training for Dummies" method, and one of their ideas is to have a doll that wets, figuring that, if a kid can show a doll how to use the potty, then they can do it, too. I did a little research, and found that this doll was the best for the money.

My twins (who are boys, by the way), love this doll. She only wets in the potty, which I definitely appreciate, both as a teaching element and as a mom who has to clean up. She comes with a LOT of gear, specifically related to toilet training.

The bottle and sippy cup are both a little bit hard to fully insert into her mouth, which does make for a bit of a mess sometimes, but my boys seem to have figured out that they have to get the nipples pretty far in, and we're doing much better with that after a short time.

In fact, they loved it so much that I ended up buying a second one, because they both wanted to feed her all the time. They certainly don't seem to mind that she isn't soft - both dolls are getting lots of hugs and love from my kids.

My only gripe - why not a boy? Our dolls do tend to stay naked most of the time (easier for the potty, anyway) and without clothes, you can't really tell. However, especially as a potty training tool, it might be nice to have a little bit of anatomical correctness, (especially for boys) as well.

However, that's only my OWN gripe - from the point of view of two 2-year-olds in my house, this doll is fantastic.

Be prepared to get wet!
It's great that this doll can use a potty, I love that, but to give the doll water requires more pressure and accuracy than a 2 1/2 year old can provide. So when she gets a bottle, water winds up everywhere but in the doll's guts. And try telling a 2 1/2-year-old who wants to do it herself that you have to be the one to give the doll her bottle! And even I have a hard time feeding the doll without water leaking all over. It's also annoying that the bottles and sippy cup have rounded bottoms, so you can't put them down. But my daughter does love using the potty at the same time the doll does, it' s a great teaching tool.

My kids love this doll
My daughter just turned one year old, and I wanted to get a doll for her birthday. They don't have many choices for that age, but felt that this one looked pretty safe. I also got her the matching stroller. She immediately started pushing her doll around and plays with it often. My 2 year old son also loves the doll, and at first they fought over it. The stroller reviews mention that the stroller is not well made, but I really like it, and think it's sturdy enough. I would highly recommend this doll, mainly because you get alot for the price. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Baby Annabell for My Granddaughter
Well, I bought Baby Annabell for my 3 year old Granddaughter and she absoultly loves her as do I!
I think she is just darling. My granddaughter found her early, as in before Christmas!
Yes she was her Christmas present and she found it in Grandma's spare room a couple of weeks ago and just knew that it was for her. Any way, we both just love her.

3-0 out of 5 stars Baby Annabell Doll
I received the baby Annabell for my daughter in the mail today. The doll is in good condition, however the way it was packaged was terrible. The box was mangled and I am surprised it was okay. I think my daughter will love this doll, but she will have to wait until Christmas :-)

4-0 out of 5 stars New Mommy
I just got this baby today i loved it i guess its kinda silly for a 13 year old to play with dolls but i think its fun(dont tell my friends)anyways this doll isnt what i expected i thought it would do more stuff i couldnt chooose between rock a bye chou chou or annabell but when i found out annabells mouth moved i was set i think its fun to act like you have your own baby if you have old brothers or sisters who like to annoy then its not good like me my sister likes to yell and hit it right when it falls asleep but i think this is a great baby, overall.

4-0 out of 5 stars BABY Annabell
I got Baby Annabell in the hopes that I would get a very modern doll. When I opened the pakage I wwas somewhat disppionted. Yes she was modern like she giggled and cryed. She really makes realistic mouth movements.BUT sometimes when you try to read a story to her she justs keeps on giggling.I can't really take out of my rooom or my family will go insane. Even when she sucks it's super noisy. I wish you could feed her or have to change her diaper because it's wet. It's perfect for the LITTLE mother HINT BETWEEN 3-7 but, maybe we older mother 7+up need something more than bottle feeding or rattling a rattle . Over all I think she is perfect for younger mothers. Also, I thinnk she is over priced. I do have a recomendation for older mothers though, Baby Born.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great doll!
This doll is great--she cries and laughs like a real baby. I have a 5 yr old and a 2 year old and they both love to play with her. The crying is a little annoying after awhile, but you can turn her off with a switch on her back. She also comes with a bottle, pacifier, and toy bear. Well worth the money! ... Read more

Rock-a-bye baby--when this doll is patted, the crying will stop. Rock A ByeChou Chou makes lots of cooing and burbling sounds, and just like a real baby, she criesfor attention, too. She can be comforted by patting her firmly on the back or by giving hera bottle or her own pink pacifier. When Chou Chou is placed on her back to sleep, herblue eyes close, and she "falls asleep" with gentle, regular breathing sounds. When she'spicked up, her eyes pop open and she "wakes up" with giggling or crying. The 19-inchdoll has the same high-quality materials and construction of all Zapf dolls, with a pretty,hard-vinyl face, molded vinyl hands and feet, and bean-filled arms and legs for a cuddlyfeel. 5-0 out of 5 stars What a WONDERFUL doll!!!
Santa brought this doll for my 18 month old daughter last Christmas. I know that the appropriate age starts at 3 years old, but we have had no problems. In examining the doll, I found nothing that could be hazardous to my daughter. I think the manufacturer put that age on the box, because they thought an older child might get more out of the doll. However, my daughter has learned quite a bit herself, and I am sure it is a doll that will grow with her.

This doll is a big bone of contention when her five year old cousin comes over to play. They both want the doll at the same time. My daughter gets really protective, and tells her older cousin: "MY BABY". It is really neat to see her mothering instincts come alive with this doll. She carries it around everywhere with her, and gives it lots of hugs. She loves to hear the sounds it makes when she gives the doll a bottle or pacifier. I am extremely happy she received this doll.

Since my niece loves the doll so much, I am purchasing one for her today. Now, maybe I can have some peace when she comes for a visit.... HIGHLY recommended from me. No problems at all...

5-0 out of 5 stars MIKELLA BEST EVER
I GOT BABY CHOU CHOU FOR MY GRANDAUGHTER'S 3RD BIRTHDAY
SHE HAS OWNED HER FOR 1 YEAR. NO PROBLEMS SHE IS GREAT

1-0 out of 5 stars Seems great but NOT
She seems like an amazing doll but my two little girls (ages 2 and 4, who love dolls and take good care of their toys) just don't like her. And she's already broken about a year after purchase. Her eyes just open and close continually when turned on. I tried new batteries so that wasn't the problem. The clothes were really awful. They looked old and worn out quickly, so I purchased her some new ones (not cheap) that weren't terry and that solved the problem with that. I paid full price for her so I am terribly disappointed. Also, beware that the bottle is very sharp for those who still put things in their mouth, especially toy bottles. But there is a pacifier to use if you must hide the bottle. I wish I hadn't wasted my money. Now my daughter wants a baby you just push her tummy to make her talk. Get one of those instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for little mommy's/daddy's
My daughter begged Santa to bring this baby to her - and when he did she has been the best little mommy ever since! The doll is weighted just right and makes all the cute baby noises that baby's do - but she's not too loud. We don't care for the bald head/sculpted hair look so we jumped online and bought a baby doll wig for less than $10 and she's even more adorable and unique. This baby is well worth the money!! Zapf always makes such good quality toys we have never been disappointed. We highly recommend this baby for any aspiring mommy or new big sister or brother, our three year old son likes to take of the baby too. PS - she's very sweet with her bald little head, the wig was just something we did.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lasting item
I was searching for additional outfits for my daughter's chou chou doll when I decided to add my comments. Two years ago I searched for a realistic first doll for my daughter's 2nd birthday. Chou Chou is what I found and she has lived up to every expectation. My daughter seems to have gravitated toward the smaller dolls such as the madeline 8 inch collection and now even smaller the polly dolls and accessories. But she continues to have Baby Chou Chou on hand sleeping in her own bed nearby. She loves to change doll clothes, so I try to always have accessories for all her favorites. One thing I must say is that for a doll who is approaching the end of a 2nd year with us, she has remained in excellent condition. No signs of wear. She doesn't go through tons of batteries either. We've replaced them once a year or so. I would highly recommend this doll. I agree with one of the other comments about the velcrow on the terry. Snaps might have been a better idea. I think the accessories for this doll are nice but a little pricey. My daughter loves to feed chou chou her bottle and give her pacifier to her. Sometimes she's had to bring her to me to stop her crying. Takes a firm pat on the back. She loves it and that's all that matters to me. ... Read more

This battery-operated Caucasian doll has unpredictable behaviors to give little girls a taste of what it's like to care for a real baby. Chou Chou makes realistic movements, such as kicking her legs when happy or when her diaper is being changed and opening and closing her eyes randomly. Her sounds and behaviors are also very convincing and include babbling baby talk when Chou Chou is happy, yawning when Chou Chou is sleepy, a sucking sound when Chou Chou's bottle is placed in her mouth, laughing when her blanket is thrown over the upper part of Chou Chou's body, and crying when Chou Chou is not attended to after one minute. Chou Chou also has molded plastic hands, feet, and head that look realistic and a soft, fabric body so she is still cuddly enough to sleep with. Chou Chou comes with several helpful care-taking accessories, including a pacifier, bottle, security blanket, and a birth certificate authenticating her arrival. She comes dressed in a romper suit, hat, and diaper—all of which may be hand washed. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Valium please!
While this doll is clever with its movements, it feels heavy and clunky -- more like a padded robot than a baby doll. My daughter received one from my sister-in-law, on whom I will seek revenge when she has kids someday (I'm thinking a drum set and an ant farm -- yuk yuk yuk). The baby's sounds are
l-o-u-d and very, very, very repetitous. It's enough to make you want to drive a knitting needle through your eye (or at the very least, take it to my sister-in-law's house and "accidentally" leave it there). Even my daughter begs me to "turn it off" after a few moments of play. All parents be warned! This one will drive you bonkers.

3-0 out of 5 stars So so
Ilove this doll and all of it's functions. So does my daughter. The problem is we have purchased and returned two. The doll would keep moving it's mouth and blinking. No matter what we did it kept going, even after turning it off! I would have to take out the batteries at least 3 -4 times a day to reset it and to make it stop.
My daughter wants Santa to bring her another cause she loves it so much. She will probably get her wish, but with lots of reservation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really Really Realistic
I bought Baby Annabel and this doll because after reading reviews I could NOT make up my mind. There are pros and cons to each, but this one is hands down my choice. Cons: 1. Plastic body is only on hands and feet. No dresses for Love Me Chou Chou! 2. Heavier than Annabel, but WAY more realistic feeling. She is chubby like a real baby. Pros: 1. Real skin like face, you can't tell through the box, but when you touch her face it is the coolest thing ever! 2. Much better sounding voice, realistic sounds. Annabel is kind of whiny, much louder and more computerized sounding. 3. Mouth moves when she cries and laughs as well as when she eats or suck on her pacifier. 4. The leg kicking is the cutest thing ever. She stretches her legs out like a real baby. For $5 more, it is an obvious choice!

Perfect as a first baby doll for a little girl, this version of the Annabell doll is greatly simplified from the others. She doesn't suck on a bottle; make gurgling, burping, or snoring sounds; or detect motion. What she does do is rely on toddlers to imagine what her current needs are and fulfill them. Annabell has molded plastic hands, feet, and head with realistic features and a soft, fabric body so she is still cuddly enough to sleep with. She comes wearing cozy white terrycloth pajamas and a hat, which children can remove to practice dressing and undressing, and holding a matching terry rattle. For toddlers who are expecting a new sibling, Annabell is a great "trial run" baby. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

Wonderful Baby Annabel doll
This is the first doll I have bought probably in 15 years and I bought it for my 3 year old granddaughter and she loves it. It is the right size for her to carry around and take care of. We have to tell her the baby needs a nap so she will put it down so she can eat or when she goes home. She likes to take everything home and grandma has to refurnish toys, so this strategy has worked wonderful. Now we are working on the accessories.

NOT like Baby Annabell!
If your child is familiar with the Baby Annabell doll, DO NOT buy this doll instead! This doll is cute, but does NOTHING. It doesn't take batteries. It's just a cuddly doll, which is fine if that's what you want, but if your daughter wants a Baby Annabell (who laughs and cries and sucks on her bottle) than this doll will be a HUGE dissapointment. Her eyes don't even close and she doesn't even come with a bottle. She's a nice size for a smaller child and has a cute face, but that's about it!

Perfect Doll for a Toddler
I saw the review for this doll in Parents magazine and wanted her right away for my daughter's first birthday....but couldn't find her in the stores yet. Finally she is released and my daughter loves her...she hugs and cuddles her, and likes her pretty shiny eyes. My First Annabell is the perfect size and weight for toddlers. ... Read more

Disappointing
I purchased this doll for my daughter last year for a Christmas gift. I was very excited when I read what the doll could do. That is the only reason why I purchased the doll. However, she does not do everything she is supposed to do. I took her back to the store thinking we had a defective doll. Not true. The doll does not cry or laugh. The only thing she seems to do is make a cooing sound. Very disappointing. However, my daughter still plays with her.

she is great
me and my husband are expecting our first child in july of 2004 and my god mother suggested that we get baby chou chou for practice she is very cute and realistic i cant wait until i have my baby she cries and laughs and sometimes she cries just for attention you know just to be held she is a big responsiblity and we are sure our baby to be will

Love baby cho cho
I purchased this doll for my 5 year old soon to be 6 year old and she absolutely adores the doll. I purchased the doll because I am excpecting my second child in a couple of weeks and wanted her to have a toy that would keep her occupied and understand babies a little more. The doll really feels baby-like and the sounds are great, although I wish she made a little more noises, which I understand the baby ananable does. I also purchased the outfit and diaper bag set, she loves the diaper bag which gives her a sense of being a real mom. My husband and myself enjoyed pretending with my daughter with the doll baby we were nominated to be her baby sitter as she went to pretend work. ... Read more

Like Real
Last Christmas I got a baby CHOU CHOU for my 5 year-old granddaughter, who already owns a plethora of dolls. She plays with each one: Baby Annabell, Baby Expressions, Jolly Dolly, and even a collectible Ellie "Breath of Life" baby, but special attention is reserved to darling baby CHOU CHOU. CHOU CHOU doesn't behave like other dolls. She is more introspective and disinclined to respond well around new faces. She loves her Mommy very much and loves to be cuddled, which her soft, easily cleanable cloth and vinyl body is perfectly suited for. When forced into social situations, however, baby CHOU CHOU can be extremely stubborn: throwing fits, crying, and biting - a particular habit that just can't seem to be weaned out of her.

For any young girl interested in a challenge, baby CHOU CHOU seems to be right on the spot.

Chou Chou Extravaganza
I am 10 year old girl with a chou chou. Many kids might think you shouldn't be playng with dolls at my age but, I think it is educational. This Christmas when I'm going to Florida Alexandrea is coming with me. I have her a carrier which is really for baby Borns. I love Zapf Creations products. I also have a Baby Born. All of there dolls are very durable and fun to play with.

Very durable and cute!
My daughter, Aimalie, owns a Little Chou Chou Gift Set doll. The only different from the picture shown above is her pacifier clip. Ours is a satin pink ribbon and this one is sort of a chain. Aimalie carries this doll everywhere! And her clothes wash like magic. They get washed once a week, because you know how kids are with markers and juice, etc. We've lost the pajama hat, but we didn't yet loose her little teddy bear, which I find amazing. Too bad the Chou Chou clothes don't fit on this 14" one, she's too small. I'm planning on getting Aimalie an 18" inch Chou Chou, but none of that interactive mumbo jumbo, I like to encourage imagination.. and my daughter is doing perfectly fine with that!

Better For Young Children
I'm twelve years old, and ever since I can remember, I've loved babies. I loved to practice playing Mother with some of my dolls from when I was little.. but none of them were very realistic, and they all had marks on their heads, missing arms here and there, and their clothes were lost and mismatched. I saved up for weeks, and bought a Little Chou Chou Gift set. It was the perfect size baby, with an adorable outfit that also came with a pair of pajamas, complete with a pacifier, and a teddy, which I've lost, because it's way too small. I gave my Chou Chou, whom I've named Ariana, a new stuffed animal of mine.

Anytime I'm in the mood to be a Mommy, I just take out my Chou Chou, Ariana, and a big wooden doll crib and highchair I've had for ages. My little sister likes playing with Ariana, too. Usually I pretend I'm the mom and my sister plays as Auntie Laura. Even though I haven't really played with my Chou Chou for a few months, I still reccomend her, because anytime I need to take a St. John's Ambulance Baby-Sitting course, or I need a doll for some reason or another, I don't feel embarassed taking a ragged doll with the hair pulled out of her and one of her eyes missing, I take my beautiful Chou Chou!

my favorite doll

1-0 out of 5 stars No More Baby Born!!!
I purchased this doll for my 2-1/2 yr old and it was such a disappointment. First of all, the African American doll was very difficult to find. Upon giving it to my daughter, I was not pleased. The doll has a very hard body, so, it was not cudely at all. It was a pain to feed with both the bottle and the spoon. The bottle leaked and the baby food thing was difficlult. Great concept but, it could have been made to work more effectively.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, bathable doll...
We bought this doll for our 2 yr. old daughter for Christmas. She is now 2 1/2 and loves baby dolls. Baby Born is one of her favorites, since there are so many great ways to pretend with her. She loves to give the baby a pacifier and pretend to feed it. It is tricky to feed her from the supplied bottle, I must say, as you must push it and hold it in her mouth. That's what I get, though, for buying the doll for a toddler. I help her make the doll use her potty, which my daughter loves. I am hoping this will inspire her to want to potty-train, too!(...)

1-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Doll So Life Like
I purchased Annabelle last year for my 4 year old daughter. She was truly amazed at how life like this beautiful doll was. It teaches her true responsibilty at an early age, with hours of interactive fun. Annabelle has become a very special part of my family. ZAPF CREATIONS should really be commended for such terrific work.
Keep up the good work. This year we are adding Chou Chou to our collection. I can't wait to see what's next.
