Great book for Bob fans...
This is a great book if you have Bob fans in the house. The only concern that we had with it is that it does teach insecurity through Lofty. Saying things like, "I'm not any good for anything," really doesn't do much for the self esteem in a child. As a teacher, my husband was quite concerned about comments such as those stressed by Lofty throughout the book. We also didn't like hearing Spud saying, "nay, nay nay nay nay" -not something you want to hear repeated by a three-year-old. Anyway, my son loves this book and plays with it throughout the day, almost daily. I just wish I could edit out those things that are insecurities and it would be a great book. Whenever Lofty says that he can't do something, my son says, "yes you can!" So, keep that in mind before buying the book. You're going to have to explain a few things as the story goes along. They really need to make more of these books with characters such as Bob. They're a bunch of fun and the music/voices are the same as the show.

Favorite Characters and Lots of FUN
This is a great leap pad book. My 4 yr old son loved it instantly. The familiar characters from the Bob the Builder show make this book lots more fun than the ones featuring the Frog. I especially liked the fact that this book helps to teach that teasing is not a nice thing to do. There are at least 2 games on every page and it has the music from the show also. It is definitely worth the price and I hope they make more Bob the Builder books for the Leap Pad.

Wonderful way to teach reading skills!!
My son is 4 and he loves this Bob book. He prefers it to his Bob videos since he is playing with the characters as he reads the book. It's wonderful that Leap Frog makes books that go beyond teaching ABC's for kids because there are so many important things they need to learn, and this book has loads of them (bigger vocabulary, comprehension, numbers, shapes to name a few). As a former teacher, I highly recommend this book for the entertainment AND education.

Worth the money!!!!!!!
My son received his leap pad last Christmas. He discovered Bob the Builder this summer. Put the two together and you have the happiest 2 1/2 year old around. He loves the games, especially the musical ones, and has really learned his shapes and sharpened his thinking skills because of this book. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Don't think that your child is too young for these products. Even if you have to hold the pen for them, they are fascinated by the bright books and music. My son has defintely benefited from these products.

can we fix it yes we can
My son is 4 years old and if your child likes Bob the Builder, he will definately enjoy this leap pad book. It teaches a little bit of everything and he enjoys the book from front to back. It is definately one of the better leap pad books. ... Read more

Five Year Old Son With Autism Loves It
We had bought the entry-level Leap Frog Pad for our son (five years old) who has autism, but he ignored the thing for months until the release of Dr. Seuss' "Wocket." His fine motor skills are not good, so it was INCREDIBLE to see him using the pen properly to touch the "Go" button when first turning a page (I showed him how but the book itself also offers an automatic prompt upon turning on the pad). This is a BIG deal (parents of children with autism will understand this), and I have never seen him using a pointing device or pen like this.He likes Thomas the Tank Engine but did not take to the book for the pad (this is probably because we read Seuss so much and he is fanatical about Seuss while Thomas is more of a video-watching activity).I only gave this product 4 stars since one needs to flip over the book to finish the story, and that is problematic for my son. I know they save money by utilizing both sides of a book page, but the makers should rethink this since beginner-age users (normally developing or not) may have trouble doing this.Once again, my recommendation is aimed at parents of children with autism and/or difficulty with fine motor skills, and of course, it will depend on whether he or she is so "motivated" by Seuss, but there are other pad books (Bob the Builder, Thomas, Dora). Seuss just happened to work for my son. ... Read more

Mommy's little helper......
My three year old got this for Christmas and she loves it. It helps with colors and shapes. It even has a little addition. One part has your child count all the books on a page, another has different types of vehicles, and yet another teaches open and closed. Also there is actually a story about Clifford. I thought my daughter would get bored but she hasn't even asked to open one of the other books she got yet. There isn't a spot on a page that doesn't do something. My daughter has had to learn how to be gentle though. The pages are tough but not three year old proof. ... Read more

Bright pink and purple, this lightweight butwell-stitched backpack is made just for carrying a LeapPad around in. There'sa special pouch with extra padding for the LeapPad, another that willhold up to four LeapPad books, and little net pouches for four LeapPadcartridges. Velcro fasteners make it easy for a child to secure theflap, which is emblazoned with the leapy frog himself. There areadjustable shoulder straps padded for comfort and a handle forbriefcase-style carrying. The shiny material is surface washable andresistant to stains. --M. Sullivan ... Read more

Very nice, but there are way better options out there!
My four year old has this backpack (...)My kiddo barely uses this backpack. On her small frame (fits size 5 now), it's very akward for her to walk with it on, because the book ends up being wider than her body. This causes her to get stuck in doors and tight spaces. I usually just end up holding the thing for her, don't know about your kid but mine hates wearing backpacks for long anyway!

The design is hard on their bodies because the book is so flat, and with extra books in the backpack it's very hard against the back.

The backpack doesn't hold many of the books, I can fit maybe 2 in there. (...) Don't buy this, it'll just sit on the shelf!

a must for the leappad
This is a big help in storing the leappad, books and cartridges. It keeps everything organized and is great for travel. You can get the pink one to match the pink leappad or the blue/green one for the blue system. I only wish there were more mesh slots for the cartridges but you can fit 2 in each slot (store 8 cartridges). Well worth it.

Leap Pad Carrier
I like the idea of having a back pack that matches the Leap Pad. The only thing I think is missing is more slots for the small game cartridges. Very durable & easy to carry.

nice carrying case
i bought these for my daughter and niece - it is very nice to use when traveling and just keeping rooms clutter free - it only holds a few books and cassetts, which is good in a sense since my daughter can hold it herself - a good buy.

Great storage item
My daughter loves her Leap Pad and this keeps all her books and cartridges organized and together in one place. I love not having to dig in the toy box for Leap Pad accesories. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Little People friend Doll - Sonya Lee with Bonus DVD
We adopted our daughter, Sarah, from China just 8 months ago.Sarah turned two Feb 6th!She got a package in the mail from Uncle Tracy, Aunt Cindy, and cousins Crystal and Ashley. It was a Sonya Lee doll with CD!Sarah really loves Sonya Lee!It is the cutest doll with Asian features! It has a soft body and soft plastic head with black hair and a pink ribbon!Sonya Lee comes with a DVD and a backpack with her cat.Too adorable!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Little People Doll that's soft to hold, hug and love!
My daughter just received Sonya Lee doll for her 2nd birthday, and she could hardly wait for us to get her out of the box! Sonya Lee even joined her for her nap!

Sonya Lee's body is soft and her clothes, socks and shoes are not removable which I think is nice. Sonya's head is made of a soft plastic and her black hair makes this doll feel like a "big girl doll"! Sonya Lee also comes with a blue backpack,a nice pink plastic comb, her kitty and DVD with 4 short claymation stories about the animal loving Sonya Lee & her friends.

The Claymation DVD is a bit disappointing in that it's not even close to Playhouse Disney's Clay, Jo - Jo, or the Koala Brothers quaility. But, I have to remember is that my daughter enjoyed it and that's what counts the most!

Another terrific idea from Fisher Price, and it's so neat that they made both a big version and a smaller version of each of the main Little People Characters. The prices are both very reasonable. Now every child can snuggle with their favorite Little Person! ... Read more

Great fun for learning!
My 3 year old and 4 year old love the puzzles - even my 6 year old has fun putting them together and playing the games. This is wonderful for motor development as well as helping the kids to learn their ABC's and numbers. Each puzzle has 3 games to play to make learning fun. What a wonderful idea - I hope Leap Frog comes out with more puzzles like these.

great toy for pre-schoolers
My daughter who is almost three likes this book. She's especially pleased with how it plays the whole song from the show. It has great counting, matching, and color exercises. Also the characters voices sound just like the shows - very clear. Her leap pad book is one of her favorite toys.

My kids like this
My 3 year old loves Bear in the Big Blue House so this was a welcome book for her. My 7 year old read it (without the LeapPad) and liked it as well.

My only problem with it is that LeapStart books are a little flimsy. The spiral part doesn't hold well with frequent use.

Very Fun Book!
My 4 year old got this along with a few other leap pad books. This has become one of his favorites. He loves the games and he especially loves the reading comprehension game at the end. It is fun and cute. A good buy for hours of fun.

A Hit In Our Big Blue House
Bear in The Big Blue House has always been a favorite in our house. This was the first Leappad book we bought for my son's Leap Frog and he has spent many happy play hours with it. He already knows the story by memory and enjoys playing the very simple games with Tutter the Mouse over and over again. Recommended for any Bear fan! ... Read more

Editorial Review

This is an activity toy that will get used, thanks to its multitude of entertaining, developmentally challenging functions; and it has a clean, happy design that'll please parents, too. The plastic tray has four shapes that can be removed from their respective holes and replaced. Each shape has an adorable, simple picture of a farm animal. When the shape is placed correctly, the animal can be pushed to sound a realistic "moo" or "oink." There's a musical function, too, where a song is played instead of an animal noise. The shapes themselves make cute rattles when they're removed. And if that weren't enough, when you flip the thing over, there's a selection of the old reliable baby-amusers: a rotary dial, a mirror, and a line of beads. The whole affair is topped off with a nice carrying handle. Highly recommended. --Claire Dederer ... Read more

Not as great as the reviews would have you believe
I was surprised that this toy got such good reviews, because I am not at all impressed with it. I thought that both of my sons (12 mos. and almost 3 years) would enjoy it, but neither has spent much time with it, despite enjoying other shape sorters - plus, one loves music, the other loves animals/making animal sounds. The shapes are hard to get out, and this frustrates my 1-year-old son. And I was disappointed that the music doesn't play when the shape is inserted; you have to press the shape after putting it in to get the music to play (or bypass that, and push the little button to get the music without even doing the shapes).

My toddler approves!
My son is 15 months now and has played with this toy for several months. It has helped teach him animal names and sounds, and he enjoys the music it plays. He also likes the shape sorting, as well as the activities on the other side (a clicking wheel, etc.). We take this toy with us on trips because it provides good entertainment value for its size.

music morphed out
i purchased this when my child was a few months old. she loved it because of the sounds of the animals. as she got older she enjoyed putting the pieces in their places. i have returned it twice because it doesn't work. each time i change the batteries but it still doesn't work. i will return the second and call it quits. the concept is great and when it works it's good but now my child is 18 months and it frustrates her.

Fun Sounds Motivate Interest in Learning Shapes
We bought this toy because we thought it would be a fun way for our daughter to learn shapes because she loves music. With conventional shape sorters, kids tend to just dump the shapes out or open the hatch and dump them in. Our daughter tended to get very frustrated as well! With this toy, once you put a shape in its cavity, you can press the animal to hear a lovely song or an animal noise. She adores it. The shapes are little mini rattles too that make a nice sound when you shake them. Our daughter learned how to turn the toy on and off and would say "off" when she turned it off. We bought this around the time our daughter started walking, and she loved toting it around with the convenient handle as well. The only negative is that your child may learn to press the small buttons behind each shape to get the music or noises without putting the shapes in.

Finally, a toy that captures my 12 month olds attention!
It is always a challenge to find a toy that will interest my 12 month old for more than a couple of minutes. With this musical shape sorter I believe we have finally found something that is more interesting to him that the electrical socket or the phone cord. It is just the right size for him to hold and carry and durable enough to survive being thrown down the stairs. The shapes stay in their places well and the realistic animal sounds are a nice change from the ordinary toys. I love the activity center on the back because it's like having two toys in one. I would definitely recommend this toy! ... Read more
