How many times have you said, "Your face will stick that way"?If you've tried to discourage your kids from sticking out their tongues or pulling on their cheeks, try redirecting their face-making energies to the Colorforms Silly Faces Game. The object of the game is to assemble an indescribably silly Colorforms face on the blank character card. Give the spinner a whirl for the type of feature--eyes, nose, mouth, hat and hair, and ears. Pick the piece that's just right and then place the item on your character--it sticks like magic. The first person to complete a face wins the game. No reading is required, so once kids understand the rules they can play independently. --Lisa Whipple ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A nice change.
For a parent who remembers Colorforms from her own childhood, I enjoy watching my four year old experiment with the silly faces in this game. The game itself is fun and he can "play" it by himself just by making up the silliest faces he can. The big problem I've had with the game is the small cards they supply to store the colorforms on. There are specific places to put each of the pieces and my child doesn't have the coordination to put them away himself. The game comes with a warning to store the colorforms carefully or they may stick to each other and lose their coloring. A simple large card would have worked much better.

5-0 out of 5 stars My pre-schooler loves this game!
My 3 year-old received this for Christmas and it was a huge hit! The rules were immediately understood by him and he loves to make silly faces. It has also helped him to understand taking turns and sharing as well as how to lose, and win, gracefully. He loves for me to get this game down for him to play alone -- he just likes to make a silly face on each of the four cards to show me. I like the fact that he will play with by himself since that allows me the time to do housework or feed his younger sister! The only problem that we have had with the game is a really minor one and that is the plastic piece underneath the spinner that holds the arrow on will come off from time to time, but it just has to be snapped back into place and we're off and running again. All in all, I think this is a really fun game for the little ones and I would recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun, but...
The paint comes off the Colorforms pieces when the back and front are stuck together. My child complains that they do not look "pretty" anymore.

5-0 out of 5 stars My kids love to make Silly Faces!
My kids love to play this game! The rules are simple, the concept is great, and they can make hundreds of silly faces so the game is different every time they play. I also found that they pick this game up and play with it by themselves as a play set-I've never found another game that has this feature (it also makes me feel like this is a great value!). Finally, I've loved Colorforms since I was a kid, so I'm delighted that my kids love them too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game for preschoolers
This was the perfect first game for my mature toddler. I loved to watch him surprise himself as he mixed and matched the components of a face into outrageous combinations! ... Read more

I bought this for my one year old granddaughter for Christmas. It is a little too old for her.She did press the buttons but could not play the games. Now that she is 18 months she does press the buttons more and knows the names for the animals. This is a great toy to sit with the child and interact. It is durable and so far has not needed new batteries after 4 months.I would consider this a toy for a 2 year old. ... This pink electronic lap-book looks worth the sacrifice of foregoing afternoon cartoons--and it is. The two included storybooks ("Ernie's Neighborhood" and "School Skills") fit inside the book and, thanks to microchip technology, kids can read, count, talk, and sing along with characters using a handy stylus as a pointer. They can stop the story whenever they like to figure out words, phrases and puzzles along the way. Buttons for letters, words, music, and "surprises" are within finger-distance, and so is a full reference of capital and lower-case letters. There are also 60 or more learning activities stored in the book, designed for kids between 3 and 8 years (or up to the 2nd grade). Activities range from simple (spelling, telling time, music) to more complex (problem-solving, comprehension, vocabulary). Required: four AA batteries. Diane Beall ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!
I got the PowerTouch Learning System for my 3 years old son. He loved that until the day that he got tired of Elm's book. I went to look for the Dora's book and other books to buy for him. The Dora's is not for sale at any store and there are just few different books avaliable in the market. I got really frustated. I wish I had gotten the Leap frog, they have a way more books which keeps the toy very interesting for the kids. Another problem is that while playing with it, my son eventually touch other parts of the book with another areas of his hand when he points a figure, which make the PowerTouch Learning System starting spelling or reading another word instead of the one that he intended, making him confused at first. Even without touching the book, a closer approach to it, is more than enough to activate. Now I like the idea of the pen in the leap frog. I would never buy this toy again!

An attention getter!
We bought this for my 2 1/2 year old son for Christmas. He loved it and still does. He really does not care about the story too much. He mostly likes the music, counting, and pointing to pictures and it tells what the picture is. Its very durable. The only problem is the cartriages are small, but we try to keep the books and cartriages in a back pack. We bought all the books but he loves Ernie's Neighborhood and Blue's Clues the most. It was definately worth it!

Fisher Price does it again
My daughters got this gift for their second birthday even though the age on it is 3-8. At 2 1/2 they are still too young for it, so I really would go with the age limit on this toy. My 2 complaints with this electronic book is the books that go in the toy come in and out ever easily with is very annoying to my toddlers. I can't imagine at 3 they would be any better with the books though. To me, it seems like the system would work better if the books clipped in a bit better. Also some of the books seem "cheap" in their text. Example: Ernie's Neighborhood plays a song, "who are the people in our neighborhood" based on what the child is pointing at. Ernie sings most of the song and then some other voice chimes in with "police man" or "mail carrier", then Ernie continues to sings. Seems to me they could of spent more $$$ on the books development as well.

What I do like about this system is the fact the girls can use their fingers and not a pen to use the books. Plus the girls really seem to like this toy. I hope FP gets some better books soon.

One of my children's favorites!
We'd considered the Leap Pad for my daughter when she was 2 1/2, but decided to go with this one. For one thing, there's no wand or pen with it; it's all done by touch, which is helpful for little ones who haven't perfected their fine motor skills yet. It's also nice, because a wand or pen can be used as a weapon against siblings or parents! I also checked the durability of the books that come with it, because in addition to my daughter we also have an 18 month old, and he would be pulling on the pages. We've never had a page rip yet; they're very strong. My favorite thing about this product, though, is the fact that it even works without a book inserted! The plastic casing itself has the alphabet on it, so you can push the letters and play even when the insert books have been temporarily misplaced.

My daughter is 3 now, and has played with this nonstop for the last 6 months, and her younger brother (18 months) adores it as well. My children aren't "gifted" or anything; I'd say they're prefectly average, and they're able to work the Power Touch very easily, yet not so easily that they get bored. I highly recommend this product!

Do not recommend
I do not recommend purchasing the Power Touch Learning System because there have been no new books developed that I can see. And, at the back of some of the books it shows a Dora Explorer Book, and an additional Clifford book that are not offered anywhere, my son and I look in every store, I have searched the web and search engines. Basically Fisher-Price is not supporting this system, so I wish I had purchased the Leap Frog system. Although the Leap Pad we had when my son was younger had some problems with the stylus not touching correctly and giving incorrect answers, at least it has plenty of books and support. My son is 4 years old, has done all the Power Touch books and doesn't use it anymore, he's become bored with all the same books, he rather play with his old Leap Pad. And in the stores, you quickly see how much more there is available for the Leap Frog, and I think the stylus is also a great learning tool for practicing holding pencils/pens. Hopefully Fisher-Price will introduce new books soon, and this problem won't be such an issue. ... Read more

Blues Clues and music are a great combination
My 2 year old has been getting very good at identifying her colors, so when I saw this book I thought it would be great for her. She does like this book, not as much as the Sesame Street or the Dora. She does sing along with each frame.
The only problem with this book is that with the lights in the unit they distort the colors a bit when you are looking at the screen, so identifying the colors is not always as easy as it should be. But all in all my daughter is very happy to play with this book.

Not What it Appears
The description of this "book" is very misleading. You need
to have the rest of the toy for it to work. My son received
this as a birthday gift and was very disappointed that it
didn't work. You have buy the unit that it goes in and
then it's some sort of electronic game/book. I have yet

At last, your collection of hand puppets can get the home--or rather the workplace--it deserves. Sturdily constructed from wood, this traditional Punch and Judy puppet theatre requires no tools for assembly. You can write the time, or other relevant information, on the chalkboard panel just below the stage. The facade is held in a vertical position with simple red wooden feet. The theatre measures 58 inches high, 29 inches wide, and 15 inches deep. --Richard Farr ... Read more

Not as Advertised
I am sort of shocked that this toy is still being described as a theatre with a clock and two puppets. Amazon had assured me that they would change the item's description.

I ordered this item and was surprised that the picture on the box was a different theatre than the one I had ordered, I opened it and found that it is a theatre with no clock and no puppets. I contacted amazon and they said that the description was wrong and that it would be changed immediateley. They sent me a returned merchandise authorization. But it was a day before my Daughter's 5th Birthday and she had been staring at the box for days and decided she wanted it. So we kept it. We found puppets elsewhere.

As for durabillity and fun, it has stayed together with 2 rough and rowdy kids. They rarely use it for puppets though, it's a fort and a lemonade stand and a store and the DMV (LOL)!

My daughter uses the little chalkboard to practice writing a lot and the tear away curtains delight my son. One word of caution, the little star toggles used to keep the curtains pulled back come off with minimal effort and do pose a choking hazard. My son is 2, so I pulled them off and hid them till he's older.

All in all it's a good theatre, and well made as all the Alex toys are, it gets used every day.

My daughter still says that she wishes it had come with a clock though. ... Read more

Don't underestimate the amount of creative, educational, quiet play packed into this compact travel kit by Lauri. Kids can use the 25-piece "locktagon" construction set to build imaginative shapes and structures. Three lacing and tracing cards come with long, grippable threads to keep hands and eyes busy. A 27-piece puzzle teaches kids letters and their sequence in the alphabet. The pieces to four round, "fit-a-space puzzles" help children learn their shapes while doubling as fun pieces to string together. The tracing cards are made of durable chipboard while the rest of the kit is created from a nearly indestructible bumpy crepe rubber that's fun to touch and manipulate. With its handy rubber handle and Velcro-fastened lid, the kit is fun to tote along to Grandma's house, restaurants, or on long vacation trips. Don't worry about losing pieces; Lauri will mail replacement pieces to you for 50 cents each. --Joan DeClaire ... Read more

Why all the great reviews?
Having never seen this set in person, I bought this product for my daughter based on the picture and the rave reviews it had received. There is nothing in this package that you can use while traveling except the lacing cards. Some of the pieces are so small it's almost a guarantee that half of them would never make it out of the car. I suppose the box itself makes it easier to bring it with you while traveling but it is a very cheap box and will probably fall apart by the end of our first trip. The other problem we have is with the pieces that "lock together". They are made of the same thin foam as the puzzles and it is impossible to make a "structure" because they are so flimsy. This activity set is more appropriate for putting the pieces on the kitchen table and letting your child play with it there. Overall, if I had found this for [price] I probably would be okay with it, but it is not worth [price].

great fine motor activities
For those of you out there looking for a "fine motor" and hand strengthening toy, this one is great. Very durable, and will keep little ones busy.

Quiet Play
I got this for my daughter when she was 20 months, just before a cross-country car trip and major move. It (along with its companion, the "Toddler Tote") entertained her for the two-week period from the time her toys were packed in our old home till the time they were unpacked in our new home. She still pulls them out and plays with them from time to time. The carry case is *not* meant to withstand toddler handling, but the pieces themselves have proven quite durable, and have a way of reappearing again despite my daughter's best attempts to scatter them to the winds.

Great travel toy for kids
The Lauri Primer Pack is a great travel toy for kids. The items come in an easy to carry tote, and there is an amazing range of activities that can be done with this toy. With the soft foam shapes, you can play games in identifying the colors, shapes, lacing the shapes on the string, etc.The alphabet is useful for teaching letters and sounds. The lace up animals are good for practicing animal sounds, and hand/eye coordination. There are also pieces that can be joined to make interesting formations. This toy stimulates young minds with education and imagination. My wife pulled it out for our flight home from a vacation and our son was instantly engaged with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good QUIET Fun!
I purchased this for my daughter (then 2 years old) before a trip to visit family. It has since successfully entertained her through 14 flights and numerous other "sit still" times. The durable pieces are just the right size and nothing makes any noise! We have lost a few things, but you can order missing pieces from the manufacturer if you are so inclined. I keep this toy out of sight and reach so that it is a special treat to my daughter when taken down. This is a great compact and portable toy for hours of quiet entertainment. ... Read more

Great combination of a train and a puzzle.
My almost 2 year old daughter received this for Christmas this year (1 month ago).

She loves to play with it as a train - she lets her stuffed animals ride it and even tries to ride it herself.

As a puzzle, she has mastered the 'take it apart' aspect, and is learning to put it back together. It is a well designed puzzle that will be challenging for younger toddlers - some of the reasons that you'd choose block X over block Y are subtle - but it is still a serviceable train most ways you can put it together, although it might look odd.

It is very durable and safe. My daughter has sat upon it, stood on it, and dropped it on a wooden floor. So far it is still completely intact. Nothing has chipped or come loose.

This is another great Melissa and Doug product that will be enjoyed for many years, provided we can avoid losing the pieces. Toddlers can play with it on a simple level - it is a train - or a more complex level as a puzzle.

The Stacking Train is HEAPS of fun!
At first, I wondered if the Stacking Train was ever going to entertain my son. You see the cars slide off the linking dowels, if pushed down too hard. Well, at least when traveling on carpet, which is the main playing surface in our home. What's more, the order in which the blocks stack onto the cars is essential for movement. The blocks don't have to stack in perfect order, but certain blocks must be stacked in the appropriate places, otherwise the wheels cannot rotate. My husband and I noticed how aggravated Will became when he first started playing with the Stacking Train; thus, we intervened as the toy frustrated him so. Once he became familiar with the puzzle, (2 weeks later) he began to enjoy playing with it. The Stacking Train soon became a favorite, and now, 7-months later, it still amuses him for 30 minutes or more a day.

I have found that sometimes the age recommendation on toys is not always accurate. This plaything is appropriately labeled for 2 and up, and will probably continue to entertain my son for another 6 months or more. As a side note, the stacking order is quite complex for little minds. Although this does not take away from the fun-factor, it can add to the level of frustration. This mommy had to go on-line to see the stacking sequence so she could teach her son.

The Stacking Train is a well-built puzzle! It has been tossed around, stepped on, and even chewed upon, yet keeps on rolling. There are NO sharp edges on this toy, but we have had a few minor mishaps when my son, who plays rough, has pulled the dowels off the cars. We glued them back with wood glue, and the following day this choo choo is back to rolling around on the floor. Recently, my son lost one of the blue dowels, which links the cars together. I called the customer service number, found on the bottom of the toy, and the company replaced the entire train for nothing. Now that's excellent customer service! Overall, I recommend the Stacking Train as it's engaged my son for hours on end, plus the educational values are significant.

Other Points of Interest:
· No batteries required
· There are NO safety concerns with this plaything, i.e. strangling, smothering, cutting, or swallowing
· Gender neutral plaything
· No assembly
· Lifetime guarantee

Happy Playing,
Mary

reaches for train again and again
My child loves this wooden train set.
She started playing with this at 21 months
and still loves it at 24 months.
Great job guys!!!

Great durable toy
My son ended up getting 2 sets of these trains. I can't tell you how much he loves them. The first set he got as a gift last year when he was 10 months old. He got a second set as a gift a month ago (at 20 mos) and we were going to return it, but he became so excited when he saw them, we let him keep it. I am so glad we did, he has combined the trains, can now sort the blocks by color, "parks" the trains and takes them everywhere. Our Parent Teacher Educator commented that he plays really well by himself, ESPECIALLY with the trains. They look simple, but they are great for children to develop imaginitive play.

Brandon loved this toy
I first saw in the store I didn't buy it because the 2 age was older than my 16 month old, but then he played with it at his cousin's house. I couldn't get him to let go!

He loves this train at 17 months, he plays with it everyday, he takes the blocks off and puts them back on. He also is learning his colors.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great concept, but we'll probably stick with crayons!
We bought this for my 2 year old daughter because she had a real interest in coloring. We have lots of coloring books and WASHABLE crayons, and we tried washable markers--they do clean up pretty well. I was attracted to the concept of color only where you want it, but really, anything my 2 year old creates, whether inside the lines or not, is art! I can see how this could be a confidence booster as she gets a little older, though. I also liked the portability and organizational side of the tote--I'm a tote bag and organization fiend! The book inside can be replaced with a new one, and there are "blank" notepads available, too which would be a bit more creative.

Despite all its attributes, we'll probably stick with washable crayons for awhile for the following reasons--
easier to get off of wood, or anything!
lots more coloring books and paper available--and a LOT CHEAPER!
while not as potent as permanent markers, these DO have a strong chemical smell--at least to us--and shouldn't be used in a small, confined space (judge for yourself)

I'm sure we'll use this item enough to justify buying it--trips to Grandma's or whatever. We just probably won't run out and buy a refill right away when the enclosed book is used up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Carry Crayola with ervywhere you go.
In the Mess Free Color Wonder Activity and Tote package you have a great product for allowing children to blend imagination with mystery. Since the coloring book is blank until the child runs the color marker over the picture.

Everything comes in a sturdy mesh bag, which can be used as a lap desk if you are traveling. Although the lap desk is nice it is tailored more for the advanced children. Also the mesh bag has no enclosed sides so make sure the books fit into the pouch before putting the items away.

The variety of pictures include in the book is great, but the ink markers only show color when they move within the lines. This is great but for those learning to color for the first time this may not be the best way to learn.

One of the best things about this package is the fact that it is small and easy to put away which should make parent very happy. Also unlike other color markers there is virtually no odor from the makers, a very nice plus. Overall with minor improvements this product becomes a 4 star winner.

Country Rose Table and Chair Ruined
I purchased this product in the local Toys R Us for my 2 year old to use, because I was becoming tired of cleaning up crayon messes. My mistake. The Color Wonder markers colored all over my daughter's table and chair set that Grandma got for her first birthday. These markers can't be removed with conventional methods that I use to clean up crayon! Crayola's customer service was very nice and sent a package with a cleaner to remove the stains. Unfortunately, the cleaner (an orangey citrus type cleaner) left a worse stain than the Color Wonder markers. So now the chairs have orange cleaner stains on them, and the table has Color Wonder marker stains on it. I haven't yet had a problem dealing with (...) customer service, but have made it clear to them that the product and its cleaning solution need to be further researched. (...) Until this product has been further researched and reintroduced, I have advised friends and family to shy away from it.

Great for a restaurant
We have a very active 2 yr old girl. We bought this for a vacation. We brought it to dinner every night. She sat for at least an hour each time and colored on the special paper. There was absolutely no mess and it was great for those nights where we were all very dressed up.

I highly recommend this product for its travel capability and its "no mess"! Thank you Crayola!

Crayola Wonder Desk
I actually have the Crayola Wonder Desk but it is basically the same product. It is very neat. The coloring book will not allow you to color outside the lines (not good for learning purposes but makes a real pretty picture and a proud child). The markers really will not color on anything but the special paper and coloring books which is always a plus for a mother of an artist! The markers have held up well too. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Make a little monkey business with this gorgeous puppet, whosethick, lush coat and tail are made of contrasting browns. The puppet'shands, feet, ears, and face are made of a dark beige fabric, and hisnose is perched atop his oversize mouth, the inside of which is a darkerbrown. Large plastic button eyes finish off his expressive face. Thepuppeteer's hand is inserted through the bottom of the body, and fingersfit in the upper arms and mouth. Wonderfully detailed, this monkeypuppet is 23 inches long and 8 inches wide. Surface washable with coldwater. --Peggy Etra ... Read more

Cute monkey
My music teacher Had a puppet (a monkey)and the whole class loved it. The name was EGABDF (notes of the staff). Onen day my friend called me and told me were to find EGABDF (here on computer) so I bought it. We both named them after the real EGABDF (she got it for her birthday before I orded it). Since they have the same name we decided mine would be girl hers would be boy. So for short mine is Ega and hers is Egg. I love this puppet and I am 11 years old.

Best Puppet Maker I've found
We have several Folkmanis puppets including this monkey. My kids (both preschoolers) have been playing with this toy off and on for over a year and a half. It shows very little wear. Their favorite game is "pull the monkey's tail" which should tell you how durable it is. The fur is wonderfully soft, it's easy to make it come off as expressive. It is a little large for small hands to work. ...I have been so pleased with the quality of this company's product that I don't mind spending a little bit more or searching for them.

Micah the Monkey
Micah the Monkey first came to my wife from her cousin. He was bought from a toy store store, but he clames that's only because the FBI caught him sneaking in from Mexico (on his trip from Jamaica).

He has since traveled all over the country and we have the pictures to prove it. He's gotton a bit ratty along the way, but that suits his personality. He says he was only looking cute when so you'd buy him ;).

He likes to get into trouble any time he can. He claims he is an attack monkey but i haven't seem him attack for quite some time.

He's best friends with our Gund Dog "mutsy".

Micah the monkey actually started his own web company, and let me work for him. :)

Over all he's a great monkey and will provide you hours and hours of fun. He'l even crash your computer while you are gone for the weekend :)

Soooo Cute!
I bought this puppet in a bookstore after I made the mistake of putting it on my hand. It's so expressive, I couldn't put it down -- I felt like I would be making the poor monkey sad.

This is a very well-made puppet. If you think it's cute in the picture, wait until you see it on someone's hand. I rated it only three stars for durability because it's not the kind of toy you want to give to a toddler to abuse. (At least, no toddler's grimy hands are getting on *my* monkey!)

This would be a great toy for an older kid who likes puppets, or for an adult (like me) who loves monkeys.

A Great Friend
I bought this monkey puppet for my wife's birthday more than five years ago. My wife likes stuffed animals, but the real reason I bought it was because this little monkey is so cool looking that I found him irresistible. He has a happy yet mischievous look on his face that is very alluring. I basically enjoyed my wife's present so much that I made the stuffed animal into a kind of family pet; I even gave him a name - Ruffigan. Ruffigan traveled with us on airplanes around the country - the flight attendants thought he was riot.

Over time, the monkey faded in color a little bit, probably because we sometimes left him out in the sun in the car. I actually came to prefer the light brown coloration to his original dark brown; I treated the lightening like my own natural aging! Overall, the puppet held up extremely well. His fur remained completely intact, and his shape became like a glove that fit perfectly on my hand.

When our first child was born, Ruffigan became an instant favorite. The oval shape of his face was perfect for our baby to chew on. She also adored his expression, kicking strongly when she saw little Ruffigan. Our friends commented how much "she loves that monkey." I think she also liked the imaginary personality that I had developed for Ruffigan (a kind of rowdy and slightly "bad" little monkey . . . but that is another story).

I lost Ruffigan at the mall last Christmas (we brought him with us for a photo with our daughter). I really felt like an old and dear friend had died. Since then, we've bought another monkey puppet, which our daughter also loves. I don't think she noticed any change. But I did, and I still miss Ruffigan, even though in quality the new puppet is identical.

Clearly, I very strongly recommend this product. I don't imagine that many others will end up treating the monkey like a pet in the way that I did, but I am sure that this little puppet can brighten the days for a lot of children. ... Read more

A keeper!
I bought 2 of this for 2 3-yr-olds at my son's daycare. They happened to be Bob the Builder fans and really loved this toolset!

Build Fine-Motor Skills with a favorite toy!
Besides being one of my son's favorite toys, I feel great about him playing with it all the time because he is building on his fine motor skills. Also, it is adorable to watch him follow his father around the house when his father fixes things. Cleap up is made easy by the tool box that comes with it - and this toy is holding up unbelivablly well considering how quickly my son's toys normally break! ... Read more
