Editorial Review

Fully equipped for the uber rescue mission, this souped-up spacecraft doubles as a jet and a Rescue Heroes command center. The top of the jet flips open to reveal an electronic screen and an operations deck, where Keytron, a robot, plugs into the control board to relay missions to the team. Included are two tethered backpacks which, as Rescue Heroes fans know, allow the action figures to communicate. What's more, the jet itself transforms into a giant robot, with a deployable space pod as the head and a tank-like tough-terrain vehicle down below. This is a sturdy, sizable toy that those who enjoy Rescue Heroes ought to love, and it contains plenty of moving parts. Also included is a C.D. Moon action figure in a red space suit. --Andy Boynton ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wanna keep your kids entertained??
My Goodness! We started with such a small little Geotrax set and look at what we wound up with!!My 3 year old got a small set right before his birthday and played with it quite a bit. Then he got MORE for his birthday...and NOW, it is the first thing he plays with when he wakes up and the last thing he play with when he goes to bed!The airport set is probably his favorite by far!But he and his big sister LOVE to take it apart and make new creations with all the tracks and play with the battery operated train, fly the airplane, load cargo, you name it!They really use their imagination and work together with all this stuff!

The only downside is I had to buy a REALLY big tub to put it all in when we don't want to look at it all!The control center, construction set, airplane set and all take up quite a bit of room and there are times when we want it just "put away" for a while. But that's the only bad thing I can say about it...this stuff is just COOL!

I recommend this for ANY kid, probably ages 2 and up.I bought a set for my 2 year old nephew in March and my sister says he LOVES it.If your kids like planes, trains, and automobiles, this is the toy for him!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great addition to our geotrax set-up
This is a fun addition to the system.Set up time is less than 2 minutes. My girls love it.The only problem is the fight that sometimes happens over who gets to fly the plane.

5-0 out of 5 stars To infinite and beyooooond !!!!
To wait for new Geo Trax series... some months.

To deliver it at home... less than a week.

To assemble it ... half hour.

To see the happiest face from my child, when he saw the plane flying... Priceless...... 10 Stars !!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great as an addition to your train or as a stand alone toy.
This is a very fun toy.I would consider it a stretch, however, to say that this is a necessary addition for your train set.I would say that this is a great toy on its' own merit. The airplane is a big hit.It flies in circles with the control of a hand-held lever. As it flies the propellers spin. There are three different sounds (a jet, helicopter, or propeller plain.)There is a luggage carousel that spins around for cargo. As I said, my son plays with this independently from his train set.It can be incorporated.I would not hesitate to purchase this even if I did not own any other pieces from geotrax.

5-0 out of 5 stars Like it but prefer some of the other addons better!
My son recevied this for Christmas as an addition to his Geotrax system. He loves to play with it and loves the sound effects it has but, I found it to be more of a play alone part of the geotrax system than an integrated piece.Other add ons like tower clock, rescue squad, etc. are combined into the train system while this is not. It connects to it but the train portions pass by it rather than be part of it. Still a great piece but I think that if you have other toys like my son does his little people airport would have worked just as well by setting it up nearby. ... Read more

Don't Waste Your Time Or Your Money
The battery position makes this plane "nose heavy " and ours never did get off the ground. In addition, the small nuts which hold the rear landing gear loosen up due to the vibration which could lead to losing the wheel. As "first time" R/C enthusiasts, we were very disappointed by the performance of this plane.

2 channels are not enough!
Easy enough to fly and do so in a VERY large field on a very calm day.

Turns done at low altitude readily lead to spins and crashes

Controls let you climb with motor power and make left and right turns that readily turn into spins.

I have crashed plenty as a part of my learning and now I want at least a 3 channel and preferably a 4 channel plane

Lack of proportional controls means turns are done with small corrective left rights otherwise it is spin and crash city.

Thick clear packing tape repairs most of the damage done on the foam wings and tail

Funb Plane
My brother got the Outlaw, but it doesnt fly! Mine did and it was windy also. His flew away mine didnt

Good for beginners
This is my first radio controll ariplane and it was really easy. It took me a few times to get the hang of it but it actually flies for a long time unlike other ones I've had that don't even fly at all! After you use the battery a few times it actually lasts longer. It takes off from the ground which is cool but hand launching is alot easier.

So Easy!
This was my first time ever trying to fly a radio control airplane. I have seen other people doing it and I thought it would be very hard but I tossed it into the air and it flew right up! It is very easy to control. I crash landed a few times but it still flies great! This plane is so much fun! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves it
My son loves anything to do with the space program. We got this shuttle for him and he loves it. He "launches" it while watching the Big Space shuttle movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lauch time!!
We have been searching for a shuttle for a year now and are glad to have found this one. The shuttle itself is durable, yet safe enough for my one year old to play with as well as my older two. They love to fly around, dropping off the rocket boosters and the re-landing on the launch pad. The space vehicle and astonauts are an added bonus, even though they do not fit together. As a first shuttle toy, you can't beat it! ... Read more

This toy is junk.
In theory, this is a great toy. It is very realistic, and you are supposed to be able to put the astronauts in the command module and the LEM for great imaginative play.

In reality, this toy falls apart the minute you remove it from the packaging. You can't put the astronauts anywhere because they splinter and you can't pull the components apart as shown because pieces break off at the lightest touch.

It is NOT worth the price and NOT worth the disappointment on a child's face.

Museum piece!
Purchased this item, and as the other reviewers have mentioned, it fell apart in our hands. NOT for Kids!!!!!!!!!! I am attempting to find another like item, but I have my doubts!

Durability is -1 star.

If anyone finds a talking apollo unit that will stand up to 30 seconds of play, PLEASE let me know.

A flimsy toy that frustrates children and adults alike
My five year old son received this as a gift for Christmas, and by that evening, little pieces were falling off with no prodding. A footing from the lunar module fell off the next morning, and when I tried looking it over to see if it could be fixed, two more came off in my hands! My son is so frustrated, as he knows he is being careful as he attempts to play with it while more pieces simply break off. The metallic look of the set is very misleading - think aluminum foil as opposed to a heavier metal. My son has received similar sets, and they have fared well even after months of use. I am ready to toss this out (and would if I could take it away without him being upset as he really likes the astronaut voice recording). I would never recommend this set, as it has frustrated my five year old and my husband and I alike. My husband thought it could only have cost $5.00 or so, and nearly fell off his chair when I told him it was almost $40.00!! Too bad, as the educational value of an imaginary play toy like this is why people do pay so much for such a small toy. Hopefully the maker will get smart and start producing a better quality set to match the example they are trying to promote for our children.

Cool but breaks easily
My son just loved this toy but pieces started breaking off of it as we took it out of the box. Every time he played with it he called out that another piece broke off. I would only recommend this as a display item, so don't buy it for a child, it is too intriguing. I am very disappointed in this toy and for the cost, it is outrageous!

Awesome
When I was at a science camp we made these and they were so much fun. We played with them on the floor for the rest of the day. The only downside is that it is very delicate and the propeller brakes easily. Mine broke and we superglued it back together. It broke again later. Even after we hot gluegunned it. I was 10 and i'm sure any 10-12 year old would love this!

Frustrating to build, Frustrating to use!
I built this with my 7 year old son as an educational 'see how it works' project. The components are poor quality, the instructions are very difficult to read. We had a hard time getting it finished and working. One it was finished it hardly hovers at all, more like vibrates its way across the floor. We though we had done something wrong but no, we checked and we built it just as the online instructions say as well. My son enjoyed the building part but it was very dissapointing in performance. The first reviewer was 100% right. Don't paint it or the weight will stop it moving across the floor at all! Luckly we found a similar product at a slightly lower same price elsewhere that not only hovers but went speeding off across the floor so the project was rescued and Dad's building skills status recovered in the eyes of my 7 year old!

hovercraft weak
this is a fragile toy which just barely works. We used lighter weight heavy duty batteries to give it a little umph. Don't dare paint it--the paint is too heavy.
It does have some educational value, but very little entertainment value. ... Read more

sucky toys
I hated this toy. it barely ever got going over 15 mph. the toy SUCKS....

Waste of money
Guess what. This plane doesn't fly. It's weak motor can barely hold the plane up. It sucks at turning, crashes often, and you can't land it saftly. Basically it sucks overall, isn't any fun because u can barely control it, and it's a great waste of $100. DO NOT BUY THIS PLANE!!!

Review for sky vector rc airplain
the sky vector rc airplain look's good when you see the body but when you fly it you wouldn't have that much fun with it. When I got it I tought it would be better than by other rc airplane. When I first flew it it flew good but it doesn't make good turns as other airplains for first time flyers. When I landed it the tail broke because it doesn't have a landing gear, that's the worst part, but I taped the tail. And when I flew it the other day it flew good and it landed slowly. The next day when I was flying it it went strait for this trees I was trying to change diractions but, just like I said it doesn't make good turns, it didn't turn. So it got stuck on the tree. I had no choise but to wait antil some wind get it dowen. I kept checking everyday, one day it got lower and got stuck on another branch. Two weeks had passed and most of those days were lot's of rain. On the next day when I checked it got even lower and I brought three broom sticks and taped them each other and got my plain dowen the wing was damaged. when I got home and tryed it the electronics inside it were dameged by the rain so I just took it apart and took out the motor and servo. So if you are a starter I wouldn't recomand this rc plane.

the best
it is the best toy ever so get it dont buy cheap ones or they dont fly good!!!!!

Fragile beyond belief
So, my 11 year-old son and I had our first flight today, after waiting over one month for a calm day. I have several years experience with gas-powered R/C aircraft, so I thought I'd take the first flight, get the plane up to a decent altitude (100 feet or so) then hand it over to my boy. A light gust of wind (5-10 knots) ended the flight after about 30 seconds with a fairly soft upright impact in a snow-covered field before I could give him the controls. Upon reaching the plan, imagine my surprise to find the propeller broken in half, and the rubber-band peg in the back snapped in half. So much for a durable trainer plane!

I just e-mailed Megatech to see how/if I might get a replacement propeller and rubber-band peg, but I'm not hopeful, as these things don't look like they're user-replaceable.

I summary, a real POS. Save your money and spend another $100 or so and get something heavier-weight. If you buy the Sky Vector 2, more than likely you'll be disappointed, like my 11 year-old is right now. ... Read more

15. Air Hogs RC Skywinder Airplane: Black

Asin: B0002Y0NH4
Catlog: Toy
Manufacturer: SpinMaster
Sales Rank: 5881
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France | Japan

Editorial Review

Put on your own air show with this radio-controlled stunt flyer from Air Hogs. Jet black, and rather stealthy-looking, the plane can reach heights of up to 100 feet and perform stunts such as 360-degree loops and sidewinders. It's built from a single piece of high-density EPP foam, which is stronger than either EPS or polystyrene, and outfitted with twin propellers made of durable plastic. The six-way radio control enables you to move the plane up, down, left, or right; thrust it forward; or land it. No assembly is required, and two spare propellers are included just in case. Required, and sold separately, are eight D batteries for the docking station and six AA batteries for the controller. The airplane charger doubles as a display stand. --Andy Boynton ... Read more

Its pretty great
I have ordered this online and when I received it,I thought it was excellent,it seems to stand up to a beating somewhat as I have accidently dropped it on the floor a few times and it stayed together, however the smack to the tail with the remote took the tail off. The detail on it is pretty good compared to some I have seen, its pretty cheap as well compared to what you can get these days, this and the franklin mint have the most detailed helicopters that I have seen but its a price difference from 200 to 32 all in all I think its great for AH-64 fans.

AH-64A model review
1) I do not know where the customer saw his real Apache at, but he seems to be incorrect on several points. I work on AH-64A and D models here at Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, GA.
A) The main rotor blades are in the correct location in the picture and also are the tail rotor blades. You have a set of inboard and a set of outboard tail blades.
B) The blades are a different color from the airframe,
they are black.
C) As for the Main Landing Gear, they appear to be in the correct scale and location.
D) As for the weathering effect, well he needs to see our birds that have just came back from the Desert. They look like the one in your picture.
E) The angle of the Gunners/Co-Pilot and Pilot's stations dose look correct.
Well this all that I have to say. We are looking at a toy not a true to scale model and it sure dose look real close to scale and worth the price. Thank you for your time.

GOOD BUT NOT GREAT
Considering its price and the rarity of finding ANY 1:48 scale diecast military helicopter, this Apache is somewhat of a small miracle. However, it DOES have several flaws that no serious collector will be able to overlook: (1)COLOR-it's too light. It should be a dark olive or drab instead of the medium green that it currently is.The rotors on the bird should also be the same color as the fuselage. (2)WEATHERING/WASH-completely wrong. The color of an actual Apache is simply too dark for such an intense degree of weathering to show. (3) CHIN GUNMOUNT-incorrectly angled. It should angle back and close to the ships hull instead of projecting straight down from the its underside. (4) LANDING STRUTS- too thick as are the wheel mounts-they bring the wheels waaaay to close to the weapons pods on the winglets when you configure the ship with the missle racks on the inboard pylons. (5) FORWARD COCKPIT FRAME-incorrectly angled inferior leading edge. It should angle forward, not backward. In addition, the cockpit opens on the wrong side!! CRAZY.(6)MAIN ROTORS-ARE NOT ON THE SAME PLANE!!! Two above and two below the rotor hub!!! This is the worst of all its faux pas's and is not even seen in far more inferior Apache replicas. (7) FLIMSY MAIN ROTOR ASSEMBLY-ALSO A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I actually snapped the two small and wholly inadequate connecting rods when rotating the blades and had to slightly separate and epoxy them back together. (8)POORLY EXECUTED TAIL ROTOR-lacks detail and the one on my bird doesn't even freely rotate. One might think that I hate this copter-but here is the irony- I LIKE IT-inspite of its flaws and for the two reasons I mentioned in the opening of this review. Taken on its own, its good, but when comparing it against the MODEL POWER and FRANKLIN MINT offerings, it comes up short-unless you again consider price. In summary: great for the price, but a letdown for the detail concious collector. It's somewhere between a well done 'toy' and a so-so collectible. ... Read more

It’s quite a thrill to see a genuine helium airship take to the skies and obey your remote commands. This bright Mylar blimp inflates to about 3 feet in length, and is powered by two small propellers underneath. Best used in a large indoor space such as a gym, it can also explore the great outdoors on a calm day. Competitive airship racers can get ships with different frequencies to avoid control interference. Inflating the ship requires a trip to a helium tank, such as you might find at a florist or drugstore, and 2 AAA batteries are required to power the ship, plus one 9-volt battery for the two-joystick remote unit.--Richard Farr ... Kids can transport up to six Hot Wheels cars in this 21-inch-longmilitary-style camouflage cargo plane. Made of sturdy plastic, the plane hasrear cargo doors that snap open, allowing kids to plunk in a few of their littlemetal cars. Then they can zoom the plane down the runway on its little plasticwheels and head for imaginary destinations. To unload cars, simply pop open thefront hatch, pull out the ramp, and let the cars slide out. The ramp tends tostick and the front cargo doors are difficult to shut, which could be apotential source of frustration for younger kids whose fine motor skills arestill developing. The plane has detachable engines, tail fin, and wings. Thewings, in fact, tend to pop off spontaneously during vigorous play, but they areeasy to reattach. Requires no batteries--just a good imagination. Hot Wheelscars are sold separately. --Elisabeth Fredrickson ... Read more

Not for boys under 5
We found this toy to break very easy. The doors, the ramp, the simulated engines, the tail - - all of it. In addition, the cars get stuck in the back of the plane when the ramp is open. Though categorized for ages 3 and above, I would not reccomend this toy to anyone who's child is under 5. It's enjoyment would be short lived as it was with my son.

A Zero for Durability!!
This toy looks fun, and for the one minute it was in one piece, my son really enjoyed it. As many other reviewers commented, it falls apart almost instantly. My dear 3 year old son really wants to play with it, so he incessantly brings it to me to put it back together. The front doors fall off, the wings come off, and even the engines on the wings come off easily.

I have finally stored it away. I will bring it back out when my son is old enough to put it back together by himself. Maybe at that time we will feel like we got our money's worth, since he really does enjoy the concept of the toy.

Also, only the flatter Hotwheels and Matchbox cars fit into it. All the fire trucks and similar size vehichles, if you can get them into it will get stuck. This toy requires a lot of parental repair, and/or extraction, i.e., about every 20 seconds. Plenty of frustration for us!

I do have to say, that so far, none of the pieces have actually broken off, they just pop off easily, so it is technically reparable, so far....

great toy for 5 and older
bought this toy for my son last year for x-mas. over the course of the year his mom misplaced it and its all he talks about that he wants from santa. Yes the wings come off with vigorous play (glue them on like i did) and the doors are a small problem (tape them with scotch tape so wouldnt open) he took the cars out the back and he loves this toy. Worth every dime i spent on it last year.

Do Not Buy This Toy!
I would gladly have paid a lot more for this plane if it were better made. My son loved the idea of the plane carrying his little cars, but the wings won't stay on, the nose won't stay shut and its doors fell off. It isn't even worth ten bucks and it's a shame.

Lots of fun at a very reasonable price!
This Mega Bloks set features a very large helicopter, a tower with a trap door, seven action figures, an atv and numerous accessories. The Mega Bloks are very similar to lego bricks. Several reviews of other Mega Bloks products have mentioned that the pieces don't fit well together, or that they don't stay connected. With the many Mega Bloks sets that I have purchased, I have found this to be untrue. The models go together very well, using the highly-detailed instructions. After many hours of normal play, the helicopter, which is made up of many interconnected pieces, is still tight, and in one piece. My only specific complaint with the set is the winch, which looks like it is supposed to turn the rotor blades when pulled and then allowed to retract. This doesn't work, as there seems to be too much weight on the mechanism. It doesn't detract from playability, but it would have been great fun to have the chopper automatically winch up an action figure while the rotors spin. Overall, a steal at under $20! ... Read more
