Amazon.com Review The EyeToy games, while fun, are too simple to keep solo gamers interested for long periods of time. EyeToy is best as a party game played with groups of friends, or as a way to show off your PS2. And as a peripheral for future games EyeToy holds a lot of promise. Let's hope that Tony Hawk and John Madden find a use for this little camera. --Porter B. Hall Pros: Features Reviews (125)
***fine print: even this almost-perfect sounding game has its drawbacks---you have to get used to pressing buttons by waving your hands in the air which might take a while and on some of the games you can't see yourself very clearly on the screen. Also, in the dancing game (i think its called Disco stars) you have to position the camera in a very good position or sometimes the buttons don't get pressed and you don't get points.*** BUT STILL, THIS GAME IS THE BEST!!!
eye toy ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazon.com Product Description You can complete specific levels of the game to play as Crash's fiery sister. Coco will have a wide variety of moves and animations tailored to fit her personality. New free-roam sections will be implemented within certain levels of the game. These sections feature puzzles and hidden areas never before seen in a Crash game. New bosses and minibosses offer up a Noah's Ark-sized list of new creatures. The game also has an all-new graphics engine that brings vivid life to environments and characters like never before. I had read the previews last year and as a previous CB fan was slightly put off due to the change of developers and its noted similarity to CB3. Okay, so I liked it because it was familiar and thats a comfort but ITS NOT EXCITING! CB3 was familiar but still had new stuff that kept an interest - new level scenes, equipment interaction, extra powers and the time trial mode gave additional play and value to the game. Also it was still FUN. Apart from the load times, that I was unaware of, the worst thing is the lack of fun and surprise. With the enhanced capabilities of the PS2 the graphics are smooth and visually good when moving through a level with changing camera angles, but somehow Crash lacks character. The likeable 'stupid dog' from previous does not make me laugh like before - the victory dance or the baby polar bear ride for example. No surprises in format, same 5 levels, beat the boss, move on, secret levels to find etc make it tedious as you know what to expect. What I liked - The new level scenes were imaginative and well presented but thats about it. What I also disliked - Levels were too easy - too easy to get past enemys - but for some reason some bonus levels were harder. You can die too easily and it is frustrating to make the hard things in the game just jumps when you have to die many times in an atempt rather than the mental side of working out how to do something. For a previous CB fan it is a labour of love to complete and if I had read other reviewers comments I may of given it a miss. But I am still glad I didn't as you can't keep a good dog down despite his faults. For someone new to CB I would rate the game ahead of the others basically because of the extras inherited from CB3 and being on the PS2 platform with its enhanced graphics. For all CB fans lets hope the next one is more of a challenge.
I thought that a crash game wouldn't crash so low

Its a foney, and i'm tryen to save yall's money from waste.
I wish she had asked me of ways to repair discs before attempting to use one of these devices. There is a much better alternative for repairing CD/DVD's -- have them professionally resurfaced. Professionally resurfaced discs are exactly that. The protective coating on the data side is resurfaced, not simply just shaved away. The discs after a resurface not only work again, but even appear to be virtually brand new in appearance on the data side. Note that a disc can ONLY be recovered if the damage doesn't extend past the protective layer. If a scratch, or nick, goes beyond the protective layer and into the foil actually containing data, nothing can be done. In most instances, this type of damage actually extends from the label side of the disc, as under the label the protection is very thin above the foil. To see if a disc is recoverable, hold it up against a light. If any light can make it's way through the disc, then it's a goner. Most of the time, this damage will be very small -- and will appear no larger than a pin hole. Professional resurfacing is the way to go. The equipment necessary for this type of recovery runs in the tens of thousands of dollars, but they are *slowly* beginning to appear (as a service) in video and game retail stores. I don't expect it to become the rule over exception though, as the retailers want you to buy replacement discs -- not fix old ones. Look for professional resurfacers online. One service I have no problem plugging is called "Skippydisc". I have sent discs in to them and received them back within ten days. They all worked, and even appeared, like new afterwards. Cost per disc resurfacing was $3.50 Another alternative is to check to see if the CD/DVD/Game publisher offers a replacement disc for low cost. Look in the booklet that came with the disc. Electronic Arts will send game replacement discs for $20. You have to, of course, send them the old disc for a replacement as it is the "proof of purchase". If one of this disc shavers were used on it, however, they will NOT replace it -- even for $20. If scratching is very light on the disc, making it not work, you may also be able to get it working again by using toothpaste as a mild abrasive. Cover the data side with a thin coating of toothpaste, allow it to dry, and then rub outwards from the center with your thumb -- only going in one direction (outwards). (This is so you push the debris off, not rubbing it back and forth.) Do not rub in circles or in a circular pattern around the disc. Afterwards, wash it completetly with warm water and regular hand soap -- and then rise it with HOT water (to get all remaining soap film off) and dry it by hand waving a lightly dabbing it with a soft cloth. (Don't rub a towel over it, as that will scratch it further.) This will "smooth out" some of the minor scratches and also remove any grime that got into the scratch grooves. Many times, this is all that is needed to get discs working again. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review Electronic Arts thankfully bestowed a lot of production value on this releaserather than trying to cash in on a quick buck. Aside from the occasional pop-upproblem that makes walls vanish quite unmagically, the graphics are beautifuland fun. Chocolate frogs (an appropriate health power-up) and other elements andcharacters from the book and film are wonderfully animated. The sound effectsand, particularly, the voice acting are top-drawer, which helps suck the playerinto the Potter experience. Also, the gameplay is nicely varied throughout.Players go from learning a new spell in class to retrieving fire seeds forHagrid to participating in magic fights against the Slytherin bully Draco Malfoyto riding the broom--which is especially fun. There's even a Quidditch levelearly on, but there's little to do and it's over very quickly. On the downside, the game suffers from some really odd controls. Like manyadventure games, jumping is really important, as many levels require you toclear obstacles or reach out-of-the-way items. But, unlike in nearly every othergame in the genre, there's no jump button. Instead, players automatically jumpfrom the edge of a platform from either a full stop or while running. It takes alot of getting used to; if you're not at full run or full stop, it's easy tojust walk right off the edge and fall. And, like too many other games, you canonly save your progress at predetermined locations. Another fault of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is its lack ofchallenge for experienced gamers. It's nice that the developers are trying tomake it accessible to the entire cross-section of PlayStation-owning HarryPotter fans, but without varying levels of difficulty, it's less of a game thana tour through Potter's magical world. Still, it is an interesting world, andeven though it's easy, the action is still varied enough to be fun. --PorterB. Hall Pros: Reviews (120)
The adventures were fun, But Gringots bank gets to be a pain in the arse after trying 4 and five times to do each section of it. And then also I think that there was a little bit of information left out, like when the kids are talking to one another, they don't say things that might help the player. For example, when you fight the Devil's Snare Hermionie says use "Incindio" but you use Flippendo until the last second and then you use incendio. Tis very strange. Over all this game is very enjoyable to me, the Quiddich matches are fun and my only complaint about the quidditch is that the broom handling can get bloody insane. But all in all i had fun playing it. :) I think that if someone wants something fun and laid back to play this is the game for them.

Editorial Review This title has bright graphics in six well-developed worlds, each with several subworlds, including bogs, deserts, and ice worlds. Unlike some action games, in Spyro the Dragon the enemies are more fun than frightening. In the Peace Keepers world, for example, Spyro must burn down the monster soldiers' tent, sending one of the minions running out, quaking with fear or, if you're lucky, dropping his drawers and shooting a moon. Spyro's movements (fire breathing, gliding, jumping, and climbing) require entry-level gaming skills. For this reason, Spyro the Dragon is an excellent title for youngsters or less experienced players, who want to play without having to master complex movement combinations. --Kasty Thomas Pros: Reviews (116)
What attracts me most to this game is that it appeals to both kids and adults. It's easy enough for the younger crowd, yet it does provide enough stimulation for grown-ups. The graphics are good, the gameplay is exciting, and the various worlds (there are plenty) will keep you immersed. I don't recommend this for those that like weapons, blood, and/or violence. The only drawback that I experienced was a nauseating effect the 3D game had on me. The first few times I played it, I ended up dizzy and sick to the stomach. The constant spinning when Spyro is chasing the creature with the egg can be utterly displacing. Overall, it's an enchanting game that offers tons of enjoyment.
This is a very easy game to get into, and surprisingly addictive. Even my idiot little brother, who is 7 and only plays bad wrestling games managed to go through the first world with no problem. What happened is all the dragons except Spyro have been crystalized by Gnasty Gnorc, and it's up to our star to save them and take out Gnorc's muppet-ass. Using fire breath, head-butts, and your trusty dragonfly: Sparx, this won't be a problem. Saving dragons, collecting gems and eggs, taking out the bosses, none of that gets boring. For once, I enjoyed going from each area instead of getting bored and going "when is this going to end?". The game doesn't keep track of how long you've been playing, but I think it took maybe 4-5 hours to beat, and depending on how you play, it could take another hour or two to get 100% (collecting everything). A nice thing is that loading times are very short. When going from level to level, it only takes seconds, and we see Spyro flying through the sky to his destination. It makes transition a lot smoother than most games from the same generation. You really can't go wrong with Spyro. It has some of that early/mid-90's magic that we got from games like Donkey Kong Country, Rocket Knight Adventure, and a few others. It's an instant classic, and the sequels only get better. Well, except Enter of the Dragonfly. Ignore that.

DON'T BOTHER TO BUY!!!
Possibly THE single most boring 'game' - EVER! My daughter is 2 and a half, and purely out of her love of Elmo she requests these games every so often. Within about 3 to 5 minutes she is bored silly, and we're packing them away again. The gameplay is just soooo painfully slow, and there is no way to speed through the 'game interludes' (read 'excruciating delays'). Movement is restricted to forward, back, and sidestep - basically, you just push the controller forward the whole time and Elmo automatically follows the path - in his own sweet time. I admit that the controls are nice and easy for a youngster, but the speed of response (or lack of it) is the killer here. Beyond recognizing letters/numbers, there is no real challenge or 'point' to the game. My daughter can count in both English and Spanish, and already knows her alphabet. She can even spell her name! She needs more of a challenge than this! And the reward for completing each level (if you can stay awake long enough to get that far) is a 'bonus game' that puts the final nail in the coffin! And there's more variety in a small box of chocolates! It is sooo repetitive... It is sooo repetitive... It is sooo repetitive... It is sooo repetitive... Enough already! ... Read more

Editorial Review Don't be fooled by Spyro's cuteness--this isn't a kid's-only game. With multiple goalsand side quests, a fantastic soundtrack by ex-Police band member Stewart Copeland, anda veneer of understated humor, Spyro: Ripto's Rage is highly addictive. Theplayfulness of the main character comes through in the exploration of the otherworldlylevels using the new moves, including super high jumps, rapid underwater swimming, and extended flight and hovering maneuvers. Determined explorers are always rewarded--sometimes with an ice hockey match or othersub-game, sometimes with riches enough to learn a new move or uncover a new area.Simply put, Spyro: Ripto's Rageis one of the best action/adventure games for thesystem. Despite the fact that this game is a sequel, it manages to bring a fresh new lookand feel to PlayStation gaming. --Jeff Young Pros: Reviews (123)
I was engrossed in the game for months. It's not a difficult game at all, but it took me a while to beat as I'm not quite a game expert. Each of the game's levels (in three different worlds) is challenging in its own way. There are many tasks to perform and puzzles to solve. You can speed through the game quickly, or you can take your time and try to collect all the orbs in the game (I think there are 64 total). Getting to the end isn't very difficult at all, but completing the game 100% is a bit more challenging. This adds a substansial replay factor to the game. You can go back and play the levels over and over attempting to collect everyting. It took me a long time to get all the gems and orbs in the game. The game isn't particularly long, but it sure is fun. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage is definitely worth buying for anyone who likes platform games or just really, really fun games. Since it's now available as a Greatest Hits title, it's more affordable than ever. If you have a Playstation, or a Playstation 2, get this game!
Best game ever!
The game starts out with Spyro getting ready for vacation after the big adventure of the first game, but of course, vacation is not what's on the other side of the portal Spyro's jumping into. Spyro meets some folk who tell him about evil Ripto, who is wanting to take over the entire dragonworld. Spyro must go and collect the orbs Ripto stole so he can get to him to flame his behind. Although most of the gameplay is quite the same as in the original game, improvements have definitely been made. And I mean DEFINITELY. Spyro's size has been adjusted slightly, which makes him more visible, gives you the feeling he's a bit more present, and which makes the controls way better. The dash can now be used very easily for running very fast and jumping over large distances. Spyro also learns to use some new abilities, which enables him to swim, climb and headbash, to name some. This makes for a much greater diversity in the levels, and that surely adds. Spyro 2 is probably somewhat easier than it's predecessor, although the level bosses sure pack a punch. They're quite difficult at first, but with proper practise they'll be fairly easy to beat in the end. The speedways on the other hand are tremendously easier than in the first game. Whereas in the first game, they could cause some great frustration, the speedways in Ripto's Rage are just enjoyable. Bonus games are also added, in which you often have to compete against or do something insignificant for companion Hunter. The bonus games are overall quite fun, although some can become somewhat frustrating at times. The levels in general have not only become more diverse, they're also bigger now. The graphics have improved as well, and look fairly good. The colors are bright as ever, which makes the atmosphere even more enjoyable. The sound is brilliant as well. Neat voice-acting, and a stunning soundtrack by former The Police-drummer Stewart Copeland (sadly not available on CD... yet?) in combination with all the other positive points I mentioned before, make for one of the finest games on PlayStation ever, enjoyable for everyone. ... Editorial Review Crash Team Racing has all the marks of the kart-racing genre, includingbig-headed characters driving diminutive go-karts, power-ups to increase speed and slowdown opponents, and thematic tracks with multiple paths for exploration. WhatCTR adds to the mix is fairness: tighter-turning cars are rewarded for precisiondriving, skillful jumping, and strategic placement of booby traps. Sure, the playing fieldis level, but the better the driver, the better chance he or she has of winning consistentlywithout any annoying "catch-up code." The one-player game is wonderfully presented as an exploratory adventure, while themultiplayer mode is a split-screen must-play for anyone with a PlayStation (and, ofcourse, friends). Twenty-five tracks, 12 characters, and responsive control makeCTR the gotta-have racing game. --Jeff Young Pros: Reviews (126)
A great game for people of any age!!
This game is suitable for just about everyone, regardless of skill level or age. The easy controls, wide range of fun characters and cartoony graphics will appeal to younger gamers, but it is sufficiently challenging for the older gamer. Completing the game is a little too easy (I finished Arcade mode and Adventure mode within a month, and I'm not exactly a great gamer) but the time trials, relic races and multiplayer modes will keep even advanced gamers coming back for more. I have played many racing games on the Playstation, Dreamcast and N64 including Wipeout 3, Micro Machines V3, Mario Kart, Wave Race 64, SnowBoard Kids and Diddy Kong racing, but this game beats them all. Naughty dog did a great job on this game, just like they did on the previous Crash games. I would recommend this game to anyone who owns a Playstation.

It's not a BAD game; it has it's moments. But it shows that even the irrepressible Harry Potter can't escape the Curse of the Movie-Spinoff Video Game.
To be frank, I cannot see for the life of me why, if you have a better gaming platform, you get a better game. I played my friend's version for Playstation 2 and there is SO much more to do. Hogwarts seems to be based off the movie version, as it is huge and has things you would actually see. In the PSX version, you are in corridors that do not follow Hogwarts standard (maze-like) The worst part, in my opinion, is the Gryffindor Common Room. One would just love to have a look around, right? Hah. In this game you have very little to do. I guess I'm more or less a stickler for roleplaying, and was hoping the game had a more realistic tone to it. Repeating what An Amazon.com Customer said, 'Prof. Lockhart looks like someone hit him with a can opener. Dobby looks like a rat. Colin Creevey is tiny, and Ginny Weasley looks like a pig.' It's all too true. I would love to have moving staircases, secret passages only avaliable with certain spells and more prefects roaming the hallways at dark...it adds a sense of adventure to the entire thing. Oh, by the way, even though Harry FINALLY TALKS, his mouth never moves (or if it does, the inside of his mouth is the same color as his face)
My favorite parts: Fighting Aragog My advice to the makers: Make the next game a little longer, a tad bit more challenging, but not overly so, and make the Duelling a side game for two players so that you can challenge one another. That would be wicked!
Highly recommended for hopeless HP fanatics (like myself) and lovers of RPGing (ditto). ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description Hot Pursuit gets its name from one mode of gameplay in which players try to exceed the reach of the long arm of the law by greatly exceeding the speed limit. The ultimate goal is to beat your opponent to the finish line, but usually it's hard enough just dodging oncoming traffic, swerving around police roadblocks (complete with spike strips), and trying to keep pursuit vehicles from slamming you off the road. Sled Storm is a snowmobile racing title that lets players control their riders' turns by leaning them right or left to take sharp corners without flipping over the mechanized beasts. The game does a fantastic job of depicting the weight of these vehicles as they careen off jumps and plummet like boulders. NASCAR Rumble lets you race 18 different courses in six locations from Daytona Beach to the Gold Country as you tear your way to the finish line. Even if you manage to find yourself in first place during the race, there is no guarantee that you're going to maintain your lead when you hit the finish line. Drivers can pick up crazy power-ups such as twisters and sonic booms, which send cars in front of them flipping off the track at the most inopportune times.

Amazon.com Review The games are almost as simple as the minigames that are found in Combatfor the old Atari. There's Crash Ball, a four-way game of pong, and Desert Fox,in which the game characters go after each other in tanks. Adventure mode evenincludes boss battles in minigame form. The beauty of Crash Bash is that anyone--and I mean anyone--can pick itup and play it, with virtually no instruction. On the other hand, playingagainst computer opponents is pointless. Without friends to liven things up, thepremise gets old in no time. The graphics and sounds share the same cartoonish quality of the previousCrash games, with playable bad guys. There's some graphical choppiness inmultiplayer mode, but looks aren't the point of this one, anyway. --RobbGuido Pros: Reviews (64)
You can play as one of eight characters: Crash, Coco (Crash's sister), Dr. Neo Cortex (Crash's enemy), Dr. N. Brio (Cortex's rival), Tiny, Dingodile, and Koala Kong (Cortex's henchmen), and Kangorilla (a new character). There are also some secret characters, including Ripper Roo (a psychotic kangaroo in a straitjacket) and Penta Penguin. There's a total of 28 different games to play. One example is a game where you ride on polar bears and joust each other while trying to avoid falling off of the slippery, swaying iceberg on which you're battling. In another, you bounce on pogo sticks and try to make the bricks of the platform you're bouncing on a solid color. There's even a game where you drive through a maze in a tank and blast each other with missiles and mines. Some games, though, are variants of classic games, such as air hockey, racing (although in this, you race in bumper cars rather than go-karts), and standard fighting, e.g. throwing TNT at each other and using your special 'power', etc. The game allows for 1-4 players, and offers so much fun, you'll get addicted instantly. You'll definitely enjoy it!

One very bad quality is that all the levels are now designed in some kind of 70's/80's era where there are no bold lines. This have never looked this way on Tony Hawk games. The first level, College, is designed to look more real and like the PS2 version, well, the fact of the matter is, it can never look anything like the PS2 version because it is PS1. The makers of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater have stupidly tried to expand PS1 graphics furthur than they can go. On the Alkatraz level, when you are going into a different area, you have to skate through a black pit that mysteriously takes you to the other side of where you are going, this does not look real. Another awful problem Tony Hawk 4 is having is one that all of the Tony Hawks have had, when you go to 2-player mode the levels get smaller. Even though this has always been a problem, it has never been this bad. I must admit that when i went to 2-player mode i thought my PS1 had defaulted, there is nowhere to skate. The sky disappears mysteriously and all the secret skate spots are gone. Another question i have been wondering is why does it say on this products description that you can 'Skich on the back of a car', let me ask this website one question: HOW DO YOU 'SKICH ON THE BACK OF A CAR' WHEN THERE ARE NO CARS! HOW DO YOU SKATE THROUGH TRAFFIC WHEN THERE IS NO TRAFFIC! These are bad marketing problems, if you didn't know better, you'd buy this game thinking you could do those things when you can't. And what the heck happened to the PRE-MADE SKATEPARKS. They are the same ones that were in Tony Hawk 2. I think that the Tony Hawk games have gone in a tragic decline since THPS2. Sony needs to understand that they should not keep bringing these games out for PS1. The majority of gamers have a PS2, X Box, or GameCube already so what is the point? I have listed how i think the Tony Hawk games for PS1 rank in order of how GOOD they are: 1. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - The original and my favorite of the PS1 Tony Hawk games. 2. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 - Designed wonderfully, great level layout, tons of new features, awesome! 3. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 - New features, new design, not that many new options. 4. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 - Poor design, no new options or features, no new design, awful gameplay, not a good Tony Hawk.
