Do your kids have a hankering for a McFlurry soft serve treat? Forget about having to head to the McDonald’s drive-through window. This battery-free McFlurry Maker lets you make these tasty desserts right from home. Once assembled, kids pour half-and-half cream and a packet of McFlurry dessert mix into the metal canister, add the mixing fin and lid, and then pack ice cubes, salt, and warm water around the canister. Kids then attach the lid and handle and mix the contents for about 5 minutes until the ingredients reach a soft consistency. The plunger attachment goes on next and dispenses the McFlurry into a waiting cup, where all there is left to do is add sprinkles and stir. The kit comes with a McFlurry cup with lid, a spoon for stirring, two packets of dessert mix, and two packets of rainbow sprinkles. Refill ingredient packs are sold separately. The dessert maker must be completely disassembled after each use for cleaning and has many small parts that are not dishwasher-safe, which is a bit of an inconvenience. Don't waste your money
This is the most horrible waste of money ever spent. Please don't purchase this toy unless you want a very disappointed child and family. It truly saddened me to see the disappoint on my daughter's face.<br /> <br />

The WORST toy. Save yourself the money time and energy and just go to McDonalds and buy the McFlurry. Very frustrating to use and makes such a small amount of ice cream for all the effort. My daughter was disappointed too

Really dismaying waste of time
What else is there to say that all the other reviewers haven't already said? This toy is a huge disappointment on every level. It's expensive to get, and expensive to continue playing with. The packages produce such a small quantity of the treat that you need three packets of mix to make a whole McFlurry. That's $7.50 PER MCFLURRY, folks!!!! The one at my local McDonald's costs 89 cents!! Plus the cost of the toy itself, not to mention that you'll need to be cranking away for at least 15 minutes straight.

As if this weren't bad enough, the "instructions" it comes with are laughable. I put instructions in quotations because it doesn't actually have assemly instructions, just vague pictures mostly just featuring hands obscuring the parts we were supposed to be seeing. No written instructions. No troubleshooting. Not even a list of parts. It took us nearly an hour to put it together.

My son thought it was fun to produce any quantity of McFlurriness, but in the end, this was a cheap plastic toy with no purpose, no real end result and no small amount of frustration and annoyance in the interim. I agree with whoever said that in the long run an adult ice cream maker would be much more fun and productive.

Do not buy - Go to Mc Donald's Instead
My boys aged 6 and 7 received this toy as a Christmas present. It has been nothing but a nightmare.

The crank handle that is a major component of making the Mc Flurry doesn't stay on. It rises up and then you need to reset it. The lid also tends to come off so while you're trying to hold the crank down, you need to use your other hand to hold the lid itself on. It is quite a pain.

There is no way my kids can do it without an adult churning it for them. The strength it takes to hold the handle on is bad enough nevermind trying to hold the top on at the same time.

Then to add insult to injury, the amount of Mc Flurry that gets dispensed is approx. 1/2 a cup. My kids were very upset that such a small amount of Mc Flurry was obtained while requiring such a large amount of work.

I highly recommend that if your child wants a Mc Flurry, go to a nearby Mc Donald's and get one from the dollar menu.

If it is the fun of making ice cream at home that you want to share with your child, do what I did and buy a non-expensive adult model. Mine is eletric and produces a delicious product. They are sturdier, easier, and in my opinion, safer than this toy. ... Read more

A special set for a little girl
My 4 year old daughter loves everything we have bought in the Calico Critters sets. This is no exception. She adores the little furniture, with the great details and has spent alot of time playing with these. I do not recommend them for children that will lose small pieces- we pack it back into a box with a tight fitting lid after playing. All of the 3 & 4 year old girls in her playgroup are jealous of this set of toys.

Still worth buying, AFTER you get the other Critter sets!
This is a nice little set, though not too interesting by itself. Recommended only when purchased with critters & house. This set has been in Sylvanian Families (aka Calico Critters in usa), since the begining. The books are really cute, and removable from the book shelf. THere are also pictures & picture frames, chairs, couch, and a lamp. As mentioned before, you would want to have calico critter families & a house before picking this up as it has little play interest when bought as a stand alone.
