Fire Truck
My kids love anything with fire trucks or firefighters, so when my 2-year old got this Pop & Go Fire Truck for his birthday, he wouldn't let go of it for anyone else to play with! The firefighters come out so there's lots of play value besides the fire truck itself. I signed on to buy the School Bus as a gift, and recommend these to anyone. ... Read more

Returning this one
Even if it worked...The engine loses the signal from the remote sporadically, no matter how close you are to it. Plus, for a three year old, it is very difficult to tell which way the remote should be held; up is down, down is up. In order to back the engine up to connect to the cars, the connectors (magnets)must be perfectly aligned. I was never able to do it without manually pushing the connector into place; I can't imagine a three year old being able to do it. Any time you go in reverse, the train goes into a sequence of catching & releasing the cars; my nephew couldn't understand why every time he backed up, the cars fell off! Boo! ... Read more

My Boys both Love this Toy!!
My oldest son got this toy for his first birthday a year and a half ago, and it's been a favorite at our house ever since. Now both he and my 11 month old love to play with this together. My older son will push the train and then the baby will go and chase after it. Its very sturdy and still looks brand new. I would recommend this toy very highly. Well worth the price.

Great and safe toy for baby!!!
My son received this toy as a gift when he was 7 months old and he loves it. He plops his face into it and makes raspberries - he smacks the wheels with his hands and watches them turn. He is now 8 1/2 months and can pull himself up to stand but is still wobbly and he can fall onto this toy without hurting himself. He isn't old enough to use it as a truck but he loves it just the same - I'm sure he will be playing with it for a few years!!

An Excellent Toy
My son received his Push & Go Thomas as a gift when he was about 15 months old. He, and the several children I watch, have played with it nearly everyday for the last year or so. All the kids love it, and from a parents standpoint it doesn't make much noise, doesn't need batteries, and is very durable. Also, it is easy for small children to operate. I would recommend this toy to anyone with a child between 1 and 4 years old.

This toy has been dearly loved, and still going...
My oldest son (now 6years old) got this for Christmas of 98. He played with it until he was about 5yrs old. Now he has handed it down to his little brother (15months old) and he loves it too. This toy is very durable. It's lasted all these years, and only has a few minor scratches. You push the little conductor down, and Thomas zooms along any flat surface. It's basic, toddler fun. It's not noisy, and doesn't require batteries, so that's a plus! ... Read more

Son Loves It - but it Falls Apart
This is such a cute little toy... My son has loved pushing it around the house and will spend ten minutes taking the people in and out of the bus. Great for fine motor and depth perception, and concentration!!
The only problem is that the darned thing has fallen apart three times. He is the average child, but not too hard on his toys. Elmer's glue has done the trick. Just thought I'd let you know. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I need to add stars for durability!!!
Wow , this is one strong, fun toy. Both my kids have spent hours playing with it. We have had it a for more than a year now and it has been held to the ground, so it makes that horable clicking noce that battery power vechicles make when you stop them going, it has been thrown around by an adventurous one year old. AND it has spent the night in the swimming pool!!!! and 16months after buying it we are still using the same batteries, even after the pool incident :-)

Both my kids 4 1/2 and 18 months just can't get enough of this toy!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST Thomas ever!
My daughter has loved Thomas and his friends since she was just a year old. Now three, she loves to add another train to Thomas each time he goes around the track. This has taught her that Thomas has limits, just like everyone else. She has learned about batteries and turns him off to save his energy. She also pushes trains around the track and races Thomas. This was by far, the BEST "Thomas" purchase we have ever made! All of these trains are very well made, sturdy and best of all - guaranteed.

5-0 out of 5 stars This train is GREAT
I bought the medium set for my son about 10 months ago. It's become his favorite toy. Unfortunately, the THOMAS car has done a disappearing act and my 2.5 year old has not accepted the Learning Curve Thomas as a substitute. I've had to purchase the Thomas cars to replace the missing one. DEFINATELY recommended.

2-0 out of 5 stars It's not Thomas as we know it!
Well its not bad and certainly simple to set up and play with. However, its got the wrong number of wheels! As any thomas fan knows the engine is an 0-6-0. The Hornby product is far better, and comes in both clockwork and electric version.... ... Read more

Percy The Small Engine
This is a great toy!! I would never recommend to anyone to buy wooden Thomas toys. These plastic, battery-operated versions are loads better and will grow with your child better than the wooden ones. We have a lot of this kind of stuff for our railroad. Now, if only they would only make the track look like real railroad tracks. Can't have everything, I guess.

Tomica's Thomas series: One of the best train toys ever.
The Thomas series from Tomy is one of the best series of train toys I've ever seen. The combination of duribility, price and play versitility makes this toy a must for any Thomas fan. Unfortunately, Tomy has only released the majority of the Thomas series in Japan, so American consumers cannot get full value out of the series. There are dozons of rail sets and even more trains, including talking trains! Someone needs to patition Tomy to release more of this excellent toy series in the U.S.! ... Read more

Good overall
My kid (2 1/2) loves this toy. Like another reviewer mentioned it's hard to get other track through the arches (solved by adding a short piece of track between them) and the trains sometimes seem to catch on the track going up hill (particularly Toby). Great overall, well made, well used, well loved by my Thomas fan.

4-0 out of 5 stars Think twice before you pay $$ for this addition!
My son received this to go along with his other track accessories. When we are building tracks, the track that runs underneath this MUST be straight on, or the trains will hit the underside of the bridge. The wooden pull tabs that come out at the top to support the "climbing" track are neat. However, the next time I buy a bridge, I'll double check the clearance. ... Read more

James the Red Engine is one of Thomas the Tank's friends featured in thefamed stories by Rev. W. Awdry from England. James comes with three cars to ride therail on the Tomica Road & Rail System: a coal car, cattle car, and passenger car. Onebattery runs this plastic steam engine replica. mom to alex
I bought this for my two year old to go with his Big Set. The battery is in the coal car and its' lid/cover keeps coming off! I have taped it on to keep my son from playing with a battery and that works for about one day. All the other trains that we have of this set have battery compartments in the bottom and you need a screwdriver to get to them. I do not like this James set. There are others that are better.

Buy Percy Instead
My 3 year old loves playing with his Tomy Thomas Train Set so we bought him this to expand his original set. The Thomas engine in the original set took a lot of abuse from my toddler and it continues to run fine. However, the battery for James is pulled behind it in the tender car. There is a wire that connects the car to the engine. This wire broke after about two weeks of play so the engine doesn't run any more. The only good news is that my son is able to hook up the cars that came with this to his Thomas train to make a longer train.

My recommendation for younger children would be to buy Percy. The battery for Percy goes inside the engine, just like Thomas.
I think James would be fine for older children who can handle it more carefully.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great but the pamphlet that came with it was misleading!
James the Red Engine,

The small pamphlet that comes with it to show how to insert batteries is misleading and incorrect.

Using only diagrams (with no words) it shows how to lift the cover of the caboose to insert one battery. The diagram also shows how to lift the cover of the locomotive to insert a second battery. Squeeze from both sides and lift up. Tried it, it wouldn't lift up. Used a knife to force the 2 parts of the locomotive to separate but luckily stopped short of breaking it. Finally used a screw driver to unscrew 4 screws on the bottom of the locomotive ... 7 parts came out ... what a mess, but wait ... there was no place to insert a battery either! Took me half an hour to put it together again while my 3-4 kid hovering around. What a relief when I finally flicked the switch on and the train wheels started to move. My son loves it. ... Spanish Alphabet in Children's Toys
Actually, many of the special letters in the Spanish alphabet have been removed.

Specifically, CH, and LL have been dropped. RR was never universally used. (All this despite the fact that many American Spanish classes continue to teach this expanded alphabet.)

(...)

NOT the spanish alphabet
This seems like a cool learning toy to learn the alphabet BUT it is NOT the entire spanish alphabet. There are many letters, very important in the spanish language that are missing, like: Ch, Ll, rr and ñ!Therefore, Patitas in incomplete...

Could be better...
I found this toy not to be as good as its English language counterpart. For starters, it doesn't teach the complete spanish language alphabet--that's 30 letters folks. Here it's the 27 letter alphabet which just means that "Ñ" is added to the English alphabet. CH, LL, RR are letters because they have their own unique pronunciation. When are educational toymakers going to realize this?

Another thing I found disappointing is that it doesn't play any of the numerous tunes found in the English version. All this toy does is sing the "alphabet", say a few spanish phrases, and teaches four basic colors. My toddler has no interest in this toy. I should have spent my money on the English version. I would have gotten my money's worth.

The only good thing going for it is that the caterpillar is cute.

AWSOME!
I don't know how sturdy this is, considering my nephew --like any 2 yr. old-- seems to manage to destroy the "unbreakable"... and this seemed a bit --not very -- but somewhat on the fragile side. It will hopefully be all in my head... and last more than expected. Anyhow, my nephew adores it, it has a volume control... and it is fun!!! AND... educational... Much better than action figures, plastic guns, and all those toys that messed us up. Hopefully, we are building ourselves a better tomorrow... ... Read more

Pretending to do the work of adults is a favorite pastime oftoddlers everywhere. My son LOVES this garbage truck- however, it is not worth [$$$]. Garbage trucks are hard to find- but still not worth the money. I found one at [a local store] on clearance for [$$$] (just as good as this one)

Excellent toy
My 2 year old just loves it. The soft tires are good on hardwood floors as well. Looks well made too.

A great garbage truck for little "garbage collectors"
My almost-2-year-old daughter LOVES to watch the garbage trucks every week, so Grandma ordered this truck for her. It is so much fun. She can put a "driver" (we use our Little People ZooKeeper, since it does not come with a driver) in the front and can load and unload "garbage" (we use blocks and plastic food) to her hearts content. It rolls very nicely and has held up to her sitting on it like a riding toy.

I would highly recommend this for any toddlers who like trucks. It is cute, sturdy and fun. ... Read more
