puzzles
I bought this puzzle for my nephews and they simply love it each time they visit me they play with this one puzzle all the time . It is not the pet puzzle it is the one with dinosaurs by Melissa & Doug. It is fantastic the way it holds there interest.

great quality
My daughter loves this puzzle, and she is picky about toys and puzzles. The wooden frame is very helpful and the pieces are sturdy and fit together nicely. I bought it for her when she was nearly three.

Not one of Melissa & Doug's best ideas
First of all I am a huge fan of Melissa & Doug BUT this wooden interlocking puzzle has a definite design flaw. The pieces fit very tightly and as the child tries to take them apart the little knobby pieces break off. Within a couple days several pieces had broken which really takes away from the completed picture and makes the puzzle even more difficult. Since most people would buy this puzzle thinking it would be MORE durable being made out of wood I think they would be disappointed for the price.

A Great Intermediate Puzzle
My 3-year-old daughter loves this puzzle. It's brightly-colored and visually interesting, and the pieces are easy for her to put in place since they're made from sturdy wood instead of flimsy cardboard.

It's a great choice for kids who've outgrown the traditional peg-piece wooden puzzle, but as yet lack the motor skills to move onto cardboard jigsaw puzzles.

This puzzle helped my daughter learn to think about the picture as a whole in order to put the puzzle together, to match colors, and to put the corners and edges in. What a great way to develop problem-solving skills! ... Read more

Latches are either too easy or too tough!
I bought this puzzle for my 2 year old daughter who LOVES puzzles. Especially the puzzles by Melissa and Doug that open and inside are hidden images or magnets.

The latch puzzle that we purchased was terrible. The sliding latch door lock simply fell out of the latch when you moved the puzzle - thus was to easy and way to loose. The most disapointing is the window latch and trunck latch. Both these two required adult hand strength to open! I had to hold the puzzle flat with one hand and grip the window latch with the other in order to manipulate it open. And I have very strong hands and it was hard for me (an adult) to open!! Perhaps it was JUST our puzzle. So I returned it. The other puzzles are sold in tight plastic wrap and so we weren't able to TRY another latch to see if it is not so HARD. So that is 3 defunct out of 6 latches that my daughter wasn't able to play with. That's half the toy that wasn't workable or child friendly - and NOT worth the money.

Fabulous--but be careful!
I bought this for my son was he was 14 months old, he is now a very inquistive 3 year old. Within a few weeks, he had mastered it (except for the one lock that is hard to turn). It is wonderful for practicing dexterity, and great for travel. The only thing is, once they master this puzzle, they can then open all the locks and latches in your home--which can definitely be a safety hazard!

Happy Toddlers!!!
Any toy that can attract the attention of a 1,2, AND 5 year old is a gem. All three of my kids saw this toy at the store and went BANANAS! There was only one available and they could not keep their little hands off of it.

It seems a little pricey for what it is, but scarcely have I encountered a toy that has this much of a draw. Especially, if you have spirited, very curious little children who like to mess with these sort of latches at home, anyway! I'm buying it for Christmas. A++++++++

Add this to your toy collection!
This is a great toy for so many reasons. I bought this for my day care and it is a definite favorite for children from toddlers to school age. It is especially fantastic for any child in need of OT.I have also found it to be indestructable.

An Excellent Toy for Hand Dexterity
I bought this toy for my son at age 18 montsh! He is a very mechanical child, and loves to find how things work. He's now almost 3, and still plays with this board. Great Gift!
I bought the Farm Friends puzzle for my nephew's birthday, and it was such a hit that it was hard to get him to open any of his other gifts. He wanted to start on it right away.

My sister was pumped, too, because it has some kind of coating that makes it easy to clean when something gets spilled.

We love this toy!!!
I read the other reviews and cannot believe we all own the same toy. My 2 year old loves this toy sooo much that it is never out during playgroup. He loves sliding the different puzzles in and out and dropping the shapes through.

I love this toy because it challenges him--I only wish it had more shapes instead of the basics.

Too many problems
The box lacks a "floor" so blocks fall through after the package is opened. The paint chips off quite easily. My daughter enjoys it, but she gets frustrated because it does not perform well.

A dud
Sadly, this toy was a dud. It wasn't challenging for my then-2 year old, as it only had 5 shapes. Furthermore, it wasn't much fun either! The sliding scenes were tedious and frustrating for her, as she couldn't change them herself. This toy now lives in the "old toy" closet in our guest room. She regularly raids the closet on impulse, but never pulls this toy off the shelf.

Disappointing
My son loves shape sorters, but this one was too difficult for him to manage. He can pull the puzzles out easily, but gets very frustrated, because he cannot push them back in, and it is not something he will learn to do anytime soon. There is one piece that is cardboard. I am not sure if it is meant to be discarded, but without it, the shapes just slip through and get stuck between the puzzle pieces. He played with it for a while when he first got it and it has been pushed aside since.

Awful Toy.
This toy is one of the worst I've seen. It is made from cheap wood and cardboard (yes, cardboard!) The edges are all sharp, the wood splinters, and my daughter has managed to peel the cheap printed paper off most of the surfaces of the box. The artwork is unimaginative. Piece of junk
My son received this as a first birthday gift and it lasted about a day.I wouldn't consider him an aggressive baby or even iron man but this toy only took about two whacks from the hammer and it cracked in about 5 places and started coming apart in pieces.I returned it and found the plastic Fisher Price version which is hard to find, it's not made anymore, but you can find it on Ebay or in resale shops.It's well worth the search because this toy does not hold up. ... Fun and Durable
These are just great. Four 12-piece puzzles made out of very durable materials (see Pros below). The sturdy wooden box has four compartments under a sliding lid. Each of the four puzzles are theme related. These four are Forklift, Cement Truck, Dump Truck, and Digger.

Pros:
Easy but not too-easy puzzles.
Pieces fit well together.
Nice pictures.
Sturdy container.
Each puzzle has a different shape printed on the back to make sorting the puzzles easier.
Super durable. I did not realize just how durable they were until I found a piece in my dishwasher. Even after being washed the picture was fine and the wood in perfect condition.

Cons:
It may take a few moments to figure out how to fit an entire puzzle's pieces in a single compartment.
Lid does not lock closed.

My kids love these and you will too.

Pieces break easily.
My 3 year old received this toy for Christmas. She enjoys putting the puzzles together very much. However, she has trouble getting them apart - the wooden pieces do not come apart very easily. We already have 4 or 5 pieces that have broken - a layer of the wood has come off, either off the picture part or the back of the piece. I was disappointed when a piece broke after we only had the puzzles a few days! The wood is very thin. The shapes on the back are great for sorting the pieces, but the compartments that hold the pieces aren't big enough. If the pieces don't go in "just so" - the lid won't close. The puzzles are nice, but I would not purchase this toy again due to the quality.

Hours of fun
Our son (2-3/4) plays with this over and over. And, putting the pieces back into the box is as much a part of the game as putting the pieces together, so clean up is not an issue. Who would have thought that with 6 months of playing with 4 puzzles on an almost daily basis you would have no missing pieces! Sturdy and colorful and well built (as have been other "Melissa & Doug" products we've found...)

We love trucks
This puzzel was smaller than expected, but the challenge for a 2 1/2 yr old is very good. The pieces are durable and he is always proud of himself when he completes all of them.

My son's favorite toy!
This is my 3 year old son's favorite toy. He needed help with it at first, but now he is able to do all four puzzles on his own. He puts the puzzles together over and over again each day. The size makes it a great toy to travel with. It is the perfect puzzle for a child who is ready to move on from the bigger wooden puzzles with the knobs. My only complaint is that the box should be slightly bigger. My son sometimes has trouble shutting the lid of the box when he puts all the pieces away. A bigger box would solve that problem. ...
