HE'S LEARNING TO SPELL!
I recently purchased this puzzle for my toddler son. When I received it, I was disappointed with the small pieces and was going to send it back. I did, however, keep it because I thought the educational value may prove more important than the size of the puzzle.

Boy, was I right on that! My son truly enjoys putting together these mini-puzzles and on his own. He's only two, but loves his letters and shows interest in words. He's actually learning to spell! And I love the fact that the puzzle is self-correcting; he knows a word is spelt correctly if the puzzle is complete.

Toddlers who like puzzles will love this
My son started this puzzle at age 2 and really enjoyed putting every set of words together and would not stop until every one was complete. He has always enjoyed puzzles. I would put the letters in groups so that each pile would complete a word.
Now that he is a little over 2 1/2 I can just let him search the whole box for the letters and match them up himself. I highly recommend it because after each individual puzzle is complete you can have your child spell it to you to continue the learning!

Too many pieces
There are too many pieces to this puzzle..My son knows all his letters and can spell some words (he is 3) so I guess this was too advanced for him because the pieces were everywhere..I think this would be more beneficial if the letters were grouped in at least two to three per piece versus one puzzle piece per letter.

5-0 out of 5 stars Visual & Tactile Learning
This set of 21 small puzzles (average size of each is about 4"x4") offer learning to spell in a unique and fun way. Made out of material similar to an adult jigsaw puzzle, each interlocking puzzle piece (size about 3x1.5) features a letter and a part of the object that the word spells. For instance, in the pig puzzle, the letter "P" also has the pig's head on it, the letter "I" has the pig's body, and the "G" has the pig's back end. The puzzle cannot be put together incorrectly, assuring that your child is learning the correct spelling and associating the word with the object. The 21 puzzles include 3 three letter words, 4 four letter words, 11 five letter words, and 3 six letter words. My two year old who knows his alphabet is enjoying playing with these puzzles (3 & 4 letter words) and beginning to learn the concept that letters make up words and how those letters are arranged determines what word is conveyed. The age recommendations on the box are 4-7, with a choking warning for those under three. Obviously each child is different but if you are beginning phonics and spelling lessons, and your child enjoys puzzles (and does not put them in the mouth!), this is a great tool. ... Read more

This has been a great learning tool for my 4-year old!!
We recently purchased this responsibility chart and it has been a great resource!! My 4-year old has been spending a lot of time whining and being unwilling to pick up her toys. We decided to give this a try and it has been wonderful. She runs into our room each morning and exclaims, "I made my bed- can a put a magnet on my chart?" The chart provids positive reinforcement for all types of behaviors. I especially like the magnets that focus on problem behaviors such as hitting and whining. The chart is durable, simple to use and understand, and very child focused. I have been recommending this chart to friends and family!! Another great piece by "Melissa and Doug"!!

A Responsibility chart
These are shaped round, square and oblong. Some have seven magnets with others being fourteen. The hearts and flowers are only seven, but the balloons and stars are fourteen, to offer an idea of which ones have less available, for whatever reason. There are nine rows in the Lights Camera Interaction Magnetic Responsibility Chart. There are twenty-five options for these nine rows. I initially placed what I wanted my son to succeed at on a weekly basis, and after one week he changed some of them and added a few that he preferred.

This has made a world of difference in the disposition of my son. He now goes out of his way to say please and thank you, plus is folding his clothing that goes in drawers. We chose to hang our Lights Camera Interaction Magnetic Responsibility Chart on a wall in the kitchen.

The magnetic pieces move about easily on the board and when you move the whole board and carry it with the green rope that is used to hang, they don't move from their space. There are times that when we remove one that it drops to the floor.

Great for my three year old
I purchased this board to help us get my daughter to brush her teeth every day and go to bed without fuss. It's been working great and she loves getting her magnets each evening.

I've always been impressed with the quality of items from Lights, Camera, Interaction, and this item isn't any different.

great chart
This responsibility chart works great with my ten year old daughter. We used a wooden chore wheel for the longest time, but were not able to find another one when it finally broke. This chart is even better because we can use it to figure out her allowance. she has five goals a day, six on Saturday, and each goal is worth 25 cents, so she can make up to $9.00/week. We plan to buy another chart for our four year old since he's going to start doing chores this summer. This chart would be great for children under 13. There are tons of goals to choose from and you can make your own.

Much easier than the sticker system!
This is so much easier thank making a sticker chart and no MESS! I was able to get the kids organized easily and they enjoy doing there chores and getting a smiley face etc. Thanks ... Read more

Not a good choice.
The Hot Wheels Quick Start Laptop has 10 games. Car tunes allows you to compose a melody. Street Sounds lets you play back 10 different children's songs. With route finder you must remember and repeat a string of 4 letters. Body shop gives you a group of 5 letters or numbers and you pick which one does not belong. Dashboard digits lets you count objects. Pole position teachs the numbers 1 - 10. Vowel velocity teachs you the 5 vowels then asks you to find the vowels in a word. Super sonic phonics teaches you a letter's name and then phonetically pronounces a word that starts with that letter. Word find asks you to find a word on the keyboard (there is an accompanying pictures to help). Speed spell has you press a letter and then the laptop spells a word that starts with that letter.

This game is marketed to children 3 and above. I bought this laptop over similar educational toys because I thought its packaging would appeal to my 4 year old son - and it did! But only a few of the games are suited for a child of his age. Most were too complicated for him and some were too simple. The laptop misses the mark by offering games that don't appeal to the same age group. A child that is interested in hearing simple melodies and learning their numbers and letters can't spell words or understand phonics. I suppose the creators of this product thought that spreading the games across different skill levels would allow the child to play with it for years to come but in reality it didn't work. My son quickly grew bored with the few games that he could do and even though I took it "out of circulation" and reintroduced it almost a year later, my son remembered that it wasn't much fun and never gave it a second look.

This is a game that is destined to make the yard sale circuit. ... Read more

this is really not a toy...it is a learning tool
This item is a learning tool, if used properly. Most definetly this item is not a toy.
Playing with toys do several things for the person/s who are utilizing the toy reguardless of age. Relieve stress, bring families closer together create and promote great imaginations and sometimes are just mindless fun.
So, in the right hands(with some parental supervision)this is a great learning tool. ... Read more

This is great
I bought this for my grandson for his 1st birthday which isn't for a few more months. Why so early? It seemed like such a great deal that I was afraid they would be gone if I waited. Having purchased several other Neurosmith toys I knew that this would be a good one and it is. I know he's going to enjoy it and meanwhile I've played with it several times. What a fun toy! The music has a good quality to it, you can invent any kind of music on it and the toy itself appears to be very sturdy. It comes with a cartridge but it will play without it to. THis is something that I think he'll enjoy for a few years.

My twin boys LOVED it!
I bought 1 other cartridge for this and my 2 1/2year old twin boys played with this quite often. Their 4 year old sister would help them with some of the activities and it was easy for them to catch on to what she was doing. My boys are very hard on toys, and this one passed with flying colors so far. No dents, chips, cracks or dings. The boys love to take this into a dimly lit room and watch the blocks light up with the musical patterns. I woul receommend this toy again and again.

Buy with caution
I love this toy. So much so, that I bought one for my baby to play with once she gets older. I have only used it a few times and one of the block things is not working well. I like the toy too much to return, so we will try to have it fixed instead of returning it. In contacting the company, I have discovered they are no longer in business. So, if you do buy this, buy all the accessories while you can.

Musical toy for a musical boy
My 22-month-old got this for Christmas and absolutely loves it. He loves music anyway and this toy fits right in. It is versatile when you get the different cartridges. He even likes to sit and examine the shapes on each side of the blocks. My 4-year-old can really get into the composing part of it and enjoys mixing up the songs. It is durable too: it's been dropped and stepped on and is still going strong. This is a great toy to use to introduce or incorporate music into playtime in a hands-on way.

Great for your little maestro!
What a great toy! My 18 month old is a little too young to understand the concept of "composing" different songs, but this toy will definitely grow as he does. He loves to play with the blocks and push each of them to hear the different measures of music. The cartridge also works with his Jumbo Music Ball (what a plus!). ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this product!
I brought these blocks for my 15 month old niece. The picture on the website was deceptive. When the blocks arrived the paint was coming off on alot of the blocks and the toy looked really old. I guess you get what you pay for in this case I didn't really get much for my [money]

Horrible Quality!!!
I ordered 12 of these toys and the quality was just horrible! Some people complained about the paint fading fast. . . how about - some of my blocks didn't even come painted!!! Yeah, terrible quality control. Also, I did experience some problems with splintering as I carefully examined each piece. Out of all of the blocks in one wagon, I can honestly say that on average only 2 to 4 were in perfect condition. . . that's pretty bad considering that I have ordered 12! You're almost better off going to Home Depot and buying some wood and paint to make them yourself; I'm sure those will last longer. Unfortunately, I can't even rate this product for fun - since my god son and his friends never even got a chance to play with the toy. . .

Totally unsatisfied with the quality
I never wrote a review of a product that I bought via Amazon before, but I just had to write in about this one.

I remember these wooden blocks from when I was a young girl, and loved them. When I saw them at Amazon I bought them for my 15 month old grandson.

When we opened the package and took the blocks out, there were two major problems.

1. I got a splinter from a block.
2. One of the blocks BROKE!

These blocks are not of the same quality of the alphabet blocks of old. The toy went right into the garbage.

Entertaining, but poor quality
My son got this wagon on his first birthday. As he's teething, he bites the blocks and the paint peels away and I'm always finding pieces around his lips, I really hope it's not toxic!! Also, the quality of the wood is poor and some pieces were chipped. The cord came out and it's way too short for the kid to pull it anyway. It's easy for us or for him to stamp on the wagon and fall, but it hasn't happened so far, fortunately. Apart from biting the blocks, my son still doesn't do much with them, being so young, but he loves to put other toys on the wagon and "take them for a walk", it really amuses him. It's a shame it's so poorly made.

Love them!
We got these for my daughter when she was about 9 months old. She absolutely loves them. She is now a year old and already knows some of her letters and can stack things 4 and 5 high because of these blocks. It was the best ten bucks we ever spent! ... Read more

Uh, boooring.
I have 3 kids under 5. We've had this toy for 4 years, and they don't even bat an eye at it. We've tried everything to draw attention to this item, but it is either too advanced for even an alphabet-loving 5-year old, or it is boring. I thought it was fun, but my kids don't agree.

GREAT IDEA!
I loved this puzzle the minute I went on to this site and found it. It is high in teaching kids dexterity, hand-eye coordination, working with phonics, matching pictures to their background, and learning the alphabet. I love it because there are no pieces to get lost. It will be enough to challenge my 3 year old and as she grows with it; it will be enjoyable to do it. She loves puzzles but I was never able to bring them into the car because the pieces are never attached. This one is different and will definitely be going on vacations, grandma's, and to the doctor's office. I also like the fact that it is 2 different puzzles. They can flip to the other side and they still have to figure the puzzle out. This puzzle is a class act all the way. Makes a great gift!

A to Z--Puzzling Every Pleasure
Design genius. The puzzle is a sensory delight: scooting the litttle wooden pieces (can be more fun than cars) teaches decision making (the child must move the violin to get the whale in the right place, etc.). It is more amusing and challenging than the memorization that occurs after the second time through conventional jigsaw puzzles. It will be passed down through generations of kids, with no irritating cartoon character, no marketing cat plastered on it. Who wouldn't love a complex puzzle you can pick up in one stroke? Irresistable to adults and kids.

3-0 out of 5 stars great puzzle for trips
I stumbled upon this puzzle while looking for activities for both my children for a rather long car trip. (I like to give them new and exciting items to explore throughout the trip.) I loved the fact that all the pieces are actually attached to the puzzle. You don't have to worry about a piece getting lost or one falling out of the car. It's like you get two puzzles for the price of one...if you get tired of one side you can flip it over and work on the other part of the alphabet. It is also nice because the item has a "hint" (a bit of the background) to help know where it belongs. Another feature I like is that when one side is completed and you flip it over, the items are not automatically where they should be on the other side. I originally purchased this puzzle for my 20 month old, because of the manipulation of the pieces through the mazes...not because I expect him to learn his alphabet at such a tender age! I have found my daughter (5 years) also enjoying matching the items with their appropriate letter. ... Read more
