Editorial Review

Whether help is needed by land or by air, this radio-controlled military vehicle and aircraft can get to the action. The plane mounts to the all-terrain vehicle on land to provide some additional aerodynamic lift during racing and stunts. The ATV travels at maximum speeds of 300 scale miles per hour and has a racing range of 150 feet. With a flip of the switch on the handset, kids can launch the twin turbo-prop plane right from the vehicle or by hand and control it to climb, dive, or glide at speeds just over 12 miles per hour. The plane travels as far away as 300 feet and full suspension wheels assist in the aircraft's safe landing. A single remote control lets you switch between the two motorized machines and two additional levers move them forward, backward, left, or right. This land/air stunt machine operates on a frequency of 49 megahertz. For a successful race against another vehicle, kids will want to purchase the companion land/air machine on the 27 megahertz frequency; sold separately. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

Don't Waste Your Money
This was a huge disappointment. Not only is the plane very flimsy, but it doesn't fly well at all. The so-called radio control doesn't control a thing on the plane, and the range for the truck is marginal at best. The real kicker is the [$$$] battery pack you have to buy to run the truck and charge the battery on the plane. They tell you that you need a battery, but not that it's an extra [$$$] added onto an already way too expensive toy.

Get the land-sea 2 rc instead.....please
The remote control plane, which one would assume is the most important feature of this product, is worthless. It is constructed of styrofoam. I almost mistook the plane for the styrofoam packaging that it was secured in. The other problem is simply that the plane did no fly. The only controls on the plane are the speeds of the two propellors. It flies no better than a balsa wood hobby shop plane.

The car unit has no tolarance for moisture. We accidently steered it into a puddle and it is now useless. This is an awful amount of money to waste.

The Land/Sea2 RC is well built and (of course) tolerates water. It also has four wheel drive and is a lot of fun.

Costly and deceptive disappointment
Imagine spending $100 (plus shipping) on a Christmas toy your kid really, really wanted, and discovering that in order to run this toy, an additional $20 part is required. The company which offers this toy does not inform internet customers that this 9.6v rechargeable nicd battery charger thing must be purchased separately. We did not make this discovery until Christmas morning. Therefore the toy, which had to be completely separated from its packaging in order to find the directions, is absolutely useless. I gave this toy a high rating for educational value because it taught my family a painful lesson about trusting this manufacturer: They don't care whether your child is delighted on Christmas morning or brokenhearted. The manufacturer's customer service person informed my son that any 9.6v rechargeable battery thing will work, so I guess we'll be ordering the Tyco one offered here. I'm sure it's not the first time Customer Service at MGA Entertainment has been asked about this today.

Please note, we do not blame Amazon.com for this in any way. They can't be responsible for reading all the small print buried deep inside every box their partners sell. Their service was, as always, excellent, and I am sure they would graciously let me return the darned thing--if I could only get it back in the box.

Note also that the plane is made of very thin styrofoam. This in itself may not be a problem if you can fly on grassy terrain, but if you plan on taking it on the kind of "maneuvers" shown in the TV commercial, it's unlikely to survive its maiden voyage. Survivors of numerous Air Hogs crashes, our family steers clear of styrofoam planes, but you will note this toy comes in an enclosed package which does not permit the buyer to see that the plane is indeed styrofoam.

Considering the excessively high cost of this item, PLUS the extra $20+ for the charger, for another $50 or so, you might want to consider investing in a nice RC plane the whole family could enjoy. I sure wish that's what I had done. Rats.

I love this toy! 2 for 1
I saw this product featured in the Popular Science magazine last month and thought I would get it for my 9 years old brother. We thought it as a little difficult launching the plane at first, but once we undertood the set up, we have no trouble launching it. This is not your normal RC product and it's good. You get to do both - driving fast and fly high. I was amazed the first time I saw the plane takes off from the truck. I plan to buying another one for myself. I highly recommend this toy to anyone consider buying a RC toy this Christmas.

Lots of fun!!!!!!
I got the land air R/C for my birthday and its a great R/C!! The jeep goes super fast and then you launch the plane and the remote changes from jeep to plane. I would definitely recommend for anyone who likes r/c planes. ... Read more

Overpriced piece of junk
The good: The truck matches the horse trailer (has a hitch for it). The 8" breyer figures fit inside.

The bad: This truck is made of thin, flimsy plastic. The doors don't stay closed. Mine arrived with misaligned parts that caused the tailgate to keep falling off. I had to take the thing apart and readjust all the screws. My wife told the kids not to use the steering wheel, tailgate, or hood because it looks like it'll fall apart if they do. What's the point?

My advice: buy a remote control truck the same size, which will be half the price, and make a hitch for the trailer. It'll me much more fun, and you'll only have to worry about the trailer breaking (but that's a different review :). ... Read more

sucky toys
I hated this toy. it barely ever got going over 15 mph. the toy SUCKS....

Waste of money
Guess what. This plane doesn't fly. It's weak motor can barely hold the plane up. It sucks at turning, crashes often, and you can't land it saftly. Basically it sucks overall, isn't any fun because u can barely control it, and it's a great waste of $100. DO NOT BUY THIS PLANE!!!

Review for sky vector rc airplain
the sky vector rc airplain look's good when you see the body but when you fly it you wouldn't have that much fun with it. When I got it I tought it would be better than by other rc airplane. When I first flew it it flew good but it doesn't make good turns as other airplains for first time flyers. When I landed it the tail broke because it doesn't have a landing gear, that's the worst part, but I taped the tail. And when I flew it the other day it flew good and it landed slowly. The next day when I was flying it it went strait for this trees I was trying to change diractions but, just like I said it doesn't make good turns, it didn't turn. So it got stuck on the tree. I had no choise but to wait antil some wind get it dowen. I kept checking everyday, one day it got lower and got stuck on another branch. Two weeks had passed and most of those days were lot's of rain. On the next day when I checked it got even lower and I brought three broom sticks and taped them each other and got my plain dowen the wing was damaged. when I got home and tryed it the electronics inside it were dameged by the rain so I just took it apart and took out the motor and servo. So if you are a starter I wouldn't recomand this rc plane.

the best
it is the best toy ever so get it dont buy cheap ones or they dont fly good!!!!!

Fragile beyond belief
So, my 11 year-old son and I had our first flight today, after waiting over one month for a calm day. I have several years experience with gas-powered R/C aircraft, so I thought I'd take the first flight, get the plane up to a decent altitude (100 feet or so) then hand it over to my boy. A light gust of wind (5-10 knots) ended the flight after about 30 seconds with a fairly soft upright impact in a snow-covered field before I could give him the controls. Upon reaching the plan, imagine my surprise to find the propeller broken in half, and the rubber-band peg in the back snapped in half. So much for a durable trainer plane!

I just e-mailed Megatech to see how/if I might get a replacement propeller and rubber-band peg, but I'm not hopeful, as these things don't look like they're user-replaceable.

I summary, a real POS. Save your money and spend another $100 or so and get something heavier-weight. If you buy the Sky Vector 2, more than likely you'll be disappointed, like my 11 year-old is right now. ... Read more

Editorial Review

While most of us grown-ups spend our time on the road trying our best to avoid getting in accidents, the world of kids, and specifically the world of toys, operates on a very different set of principles. And as is evidenced by this highly energetic and inherently destructive radio controlled car, sometimes smashing into things with cars, provided no injuries are incurred, can really be a whole lot of fun. When the vehicle, operating on 27 MHz frequency, is slammed into a wall, dents appear at the points of impact on the hood, the roof, the door, and the rear. And fixing the damage is considerably easier than in the real world: it all snaps back into place at the touch of a button. We were impressed by the relative speed of the car, which can be controlled up to 60 feet away and were further impressed by how well the rebuild function worked. --Charlie Williams ... Read more

2 Sons Love It! NO CHARGER, One Compalint!!!!!!!
My boys are 4 and 2.5 and they think it is so much fun cracking it up and then fixing it. The 4 year old is who got it for his birthday. There is a button on the remote that you push to "fix it" The 2.5 doesn't understand how to get it to go where he wants with the remote but gets it going in some direction and it crashes so he has no complaint. The 4 year old can get it going in either direction as it is an easy to use remote. The purpose is to crash it so it is the perfect learn to drive a remote car if you ask me!
ONE COMPLAINT, they don't come with a charger (even though it says it does in the write up here). The box says that you can use a 9 volt for the remote and BUY a 6V rechargeable Battery and charger for the vehicle OR use 5 AA batteries for the vehicle. I figured 5 AA batteries no big deal we'll keep it. WELL, Run time is only 30 minutes before you need to replace the battery. I didn't see that part on the box when we got it and didn't know why it was dying 30 minutes after playing with it and then saw that part. So buying the charger and chargeable battery is a must and worth it so you don't go broke buying batteries. Which is an added cost to purchasing the item... If he didn't love it so it would've gone back to the store so we are off to get a rechargeable remote control car battery... I did call the company and they said as long as the voltage matches up another car charger and battery will work. I was told we should be able to get one for $15 which will save money in the long run.

Battery? What Battery?
I ordered the Regenerator and received it to find that the batterypack is not included and cannot even find it on AMAZON.com or even which one is needed. There was no indication that the battery was not included.

regenerator
It would be nice to know that you have to order the battery pack and charger for the Regenerator when you are placing an order, JC Penny has the charger and battery included with it. Now I have to go look for the charger & battery. Not Happy. The reason I ordered them on line was to stay away from all the long lines.

save your money!!!!
i purchased this toy for my son's birthday and at first it was really cool, he absolutely loved it. the batteries, it takes 5AA and 1 9 volt, drained in about 20 minutes. if you let the toy sit for about an hour then it will work again, but that doesn't go over real well with kids. the 6 volt battery with charger is NOT included with it, as stated in the description. and after reading another review on this (for the red one) the rechargeable battery isn't much better. at $60, this will be going back to the store. ...
