Graphics: 10/10 Okay, so I admit it, these graphics are the best. They beat plenty of other Gamecube games. Controls: 10/10 Here, I can find problems with Madden 2002 for many systems. XBOX: White button? Why not the left trigger. Speed: 8/10 The only Gamecube game I have played with loading times. (They are short.) Oh well. Sound: 9/10 The music is awesome, but those announcers (esspecially the lady) can get annoying. Gameplay 10/10 This is what it comes down to. Is it fun? Yes. It has tons of amazing modes plus great football you won't find in Blitz or QB Club. Get it... NOW!
Best sports game ever? Maybe. The graphics are amazing, and some of the best on GCN. There are over 100 faces for the players, so rarely will you see the same face twice. And the players faces aren't just paintings, their mouths move as if talking, eyes move, they blink, and everything. The game is so detailed that it throws on grass stains and helmet marks when a player gets slammed to the ground or takes a hard hit. The framerate is also very good, it only lags rarely when you down on your own 1 or something like that. The controls are easy to pick up, too, of course. Each player has his own button for you to throw with him, and it is easy to scramble as a QB and juke people out as a RB/HB. Catching is automatic, so no worries about that. Madden 2002 has near flawless controls. Of course, there is always one downfall of the game, and it is the difficulty. The game gets very easy up to All-Pro, and when you advance up to All-Madden, the game is just too hard (opposing players are extremely hard to tackle and break 70 yard runs every other play). With all the factors and everything combined this game gets a... A- (9.2/10) (yes my scale is kinda odd)
The reason why I didn't start playing 2002 off the bat was I kept losing! Once I got the hang of it, I couldn't put the controller down. I love the Create a Team feature which allows me to move teams to different cities. What I would like to see in the future is when naming teams, I should be able to have the state as the city not just the city. Example: If I wanted to name a team the Alabama Rattlers, I should be able to put Alabama down as the name of the team and have the team play in Birmingham,AL like the Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals. Next, the ability to create players after each season and also edit the players in the draft by changing their name, school and looks. The option of drafting players from NCAA Football 2002 is absolute genius! I wish NBA Live would take a page out of Madden's book. The option of changing teams Head Coach and creating your own coach is absolute genius as well. I just wish that I could delete that DAL Coach for good because every time I fire him, He pops up with another team. I'm sure that 2003 will have Dave Campo as the Cowboys Coach. The Super Bowl aspect is impressive as well. I assumed that after the 2001 season all the other Super Bowls would be at something generic like EA Sports Stadium. Somehow, EA Sports found out what cities would host the Super Bowl each year. I would like the see a better championship presentation. Just having the coach wave his hand is not a Super Bowl celebration. NBA Live 2003 improved their's tremendously, I assume that Madden 2003 will do the same. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description Reviews (38)
The graphics, while not really comparable to the groundbreaking acheivements of 'NFL Fever' or many of the NBA games coming out now, are the 2nd best to be featured in a hockey game, right next to 'NHL Hitz' (If you don't believe me, switch the camera view on Hitz to "Side" and you'll see what I mean.) The game runs as smooth as ever, but it gives up a bit of the trademark un-Godly fast, score-at-will pace the other installments in the series featured, and substitutes it with a dash of realism. Ever watch a hockey game and see all the players get into position, passing from player to player, biding their time until a shot presents itself? You can do it in this game. Ever seen a player skate down-ice as fast as humanly possible as make an insanly in-humanly sharp turn at the last instant, and keep control of the puck in the process? Neither have I, and you probably won't see it in this game. Ever seen Mario Lemieux light someone up with a body check, then throw down the gloves and get into a fight? I haven't, and haven't in this game either. The addition of the NHL cards, a feature that's been in the Madden games for the past 2 years I believe, is present for this game, and adds replay value to the game. The season mode is also very good, and also adds a bit more replay. I must also now add the fact that in the first year on season mode (I've only done 1 year so far) they add in the break for the Olympics, like they have in real life, adding a bit more to the realism. There's even a seperate mode to have a bit of an Olympics sytle tournament. You can even have 4-on-4 OT's that have been implimented in real-life play. But even if it's a 5 star game and the best hockey game on the market, that doesn't mean there's not any flaws. The only major flaw in the game: The AI. Not that's it's bad, but rather that sometimes, it's a little too good. The computer almost ALWAYS scores on a breakaway or on a scoring opportunity. That 1 second opening in the defence? The computer ALWAYS sees it and ALWAYS shoots it when it's open and almost always scores. And on defence, the computer stops WAY too many shots. In real life, a goalie faces 40 shots, that's a lot, and it's expected that he'll give up 4-6 goals if it happens. In this game, you can open up the largest can of shot bombardment on the goalie, and he'll stop more than 90% of them. You'll score maybe 4-5 goals on over 100 shots. The computer is not forgiving, and unless you're on beginner or playing a bad team on easy, the computer NEVER gives up soft goals. And it takes a real good player (Player meaning in-game player, like Mario Lemiuex or Joe Sakic) to score on a breakaway on the computer. Other than that, there's no real faults worth mentioning, or that you'll really even notice. Even with the more than challenging AI, NHL 2002 is the hands-down hockey game to buy, not rent, this year, just as it's been every year since the first installment. This is just one more gem of a game in one of the top 3 best sports franchises of all-time.
1. The graphics: The players are sharper, the ice is thicker. The fans actually move in 3D! But overall, not to great. The puck is way too big, and the overall graphics just aren't to improved. This game had great graphics, but so did previous versions. 2. The options: HORRIBLE. No create a team, no new features. And the biggest thing, no FRANCHISE mode! That was about as dumb as having no franchise mode in NBA Live 2001. I am seriously disapointed by the options in this game. Nothing new whatsoever! 3. The overall depth: After your first season, this game will probably get pretty boring. More new features and better graphics is what this game needs. I hope EA changed things in 2003 edition. Oops, too bad! They did the same thing. Until they finally add some sort of franchise and stuff like that, EA's NHL series will continue, for me, to be a renter, not a buyer. Rent before u buy, then make your decision. Just a warning. Hope this helped, and I expect a lot more from the great company that is EA. Thx! ... Read more

So where were we? Oh, yes, Tiger Woods 2000. It is a good golf game, improved upon in many categories from last year, and continues to uphold EA Sports' good reputation within the gaming community. The graphics are nicer than '99, the cheesy blaring horrendously out-of-place screeching guitar tunes of '99 are thankfully gone in favor of the sounds of a real golf-course (imagine that!) The game overall just looks better & more refined, though the game plays very similarly to last year's title, though 2000 has more game modes to occupy your time with. And it's really a good golf simulator, with 2 types of swings to satisfy gamers who like it the old fashioned way (3-click digital) or a slightly new way (pushy analog). But, not to seem too glowing, there are some pitfalls. I remember the PGA Tour series (EA's golf series for Sega Genesis) having many more golfers than Tiger's anemic "five." And why is it that no matter who I use in the game, it's always Tiger's voice commenting as though he has mysteriously occupied the mind of Janzen/Faxon/O'Meara/Leonard. And finally, I will touch upon what, for me, almost terminally crippled my enjoyment of this game: the putting. I have NEVER, in my many years of video game golf, encountered the sheer TORTURE involved in the putting of this game. The breaks are shown by this bizarre "earthquake cam" that accentuates the peaks and valleys but distorts them so poorly that it becomes like putting in a fun house mirror. And as if the impossible greens were difficult to read, Tiger Woods 2000 makes it possible to hook/slice a PUTT! Normally golf games will let the breaks determine left right, as long as you get the distance down. But here, you not only have to fight the hills/valleys, but make sure you don't HOOK/SLICE at the same time you make sure you don't OVER/UNDER. It is frustrating to the point of ridiculousness. So TW2000, apart from the putting nightmares, is a stellar golf title. Graphically improved from the previous effort, as well as fleshed out with more gameplay modes and a general more toned-down sense of refinement (use the covers of each game as a metaphor, 99's fist-pumping theatrics VS 2000's smooth sand pitch.) Personally I think EA is capable of doing better, but what they're doing now works admirably.
You do not get a feel for the course in this game. Some of the more striking flaws of the game are: The ball is bigger than the hole while on the green. Tiger's canned comments wear thin very quickly! Quick inset of hole during putting is very poorly done and again course graphics are very poor Unless you get a very good deal, don't waste your money like I did. I enjoy E A Sports' PGA Tour for Sega Genises more than this game. If you

Editorial Review One key to the series' longevity is that it has never deviated from the original formula of perfectly balancing entertaining gameplay with realistic feel. So naturally, Madden NFL 2000 brings that same addictive feel, while being spruced up with tons of peripheral options. The most noticeable changes from last year's version are the faster gameplay and smoother frame rates. Madden NFL 2000 features all 31 NFL teams, all-time Super Bowl teams, the Madden Millennium team, and 200 more that can be "unlocked." The game uses the patented TV-style presentation with play-by-play commentary by John Madden and Pat Summerall. Improved player and play editors, comprehensive player movement, trading for draft picks, and the awesome franchise mode, all combined in one package, produce a title that is unparalleled in console gaming. It's time to tackle Madden NFL 2000 and make it one to own. --Sajed Ahmed Pros: Features Reviews (51)

Amazon.com Review EA Sports has added some new playability features, such as collectable MaddenCards for fulfilling certain tasks in the game. The Madden Cards can be tradedwith friends, using the Nintendo 64 memory card, and can be used to unlocksecret game codes, players, stadiums, and legendary NFL teams. The new two-minutedrill feature allows up to 10 players to compete for the highest score. But Madden NFL 2001does have some trouble in a couple of areas. The CPUhas a problem with clock management when it is behind with time running out;sometimes it will fail to call a time-out and let the clock expire at the halfor at the end of the game. Madden himself sounds a little run down in this gameas he only has a few phrases and he says them over and over and over. The crowdnoise and the cheers are not very well done and can get annoying. Despite its few flaws, pound for pound this is the best NFL football title evermade for the Nintendo 64. --Todd Mowatt Pros: Reviews (26)
The Madden commentary is still terrible(why doesn't EA take a hint?). Also, you can modify the computer AI, making them run/pass more, and set the kind of playcalling(aggressive, conservative, normal). However, even if you set the game to mostly run, the CPU still seems very pass-happy, no matter what team they are. Oh yeah, and you will get burned if you don't put major pressure on the QB, even if you have an all-star secondary. Despite the horrible commentary and the strange AI, this is still a very, very solid game, and I would tell any football fan to buy it since QB Club stinks, and Blitz is just for casual fans. So go out and buy this!
The game does have more depth than many sports games, including a franchise mode and "Madden Cards." Once you tire of 'head to head' games with your friends, you can play an entire season or manage a franchise. Again, this is not a simulation for purists. The salary cap is not realistic and the computer AI has the usual flaws including poor clock management and play calling. (The computer loves to pass the ball. You'll spend most of your time on defense in a nickel or dime.) The Madden Cards add a nice element to the game with temporary player enhancements, cheats and historical players and teams. For older football fans, it's fun to see long-retired hall of famers in cleats playing against modern competition. The franchise mode is relatively easy to manage and adds to the replay value of the game. The game has depth when you watch a rookie you drafted slowly become an NFL star. Of course, with stardom comes increased salary demands. This forces players to trade high-priced veterans to replenish the ranks with quality rookies. For football fans, Madden 2001 is a fun game and will extend the enjoyment of your aging N64... at least until PS2s become readily availalbe (and more affordable).

Amazon.com Review With March Madness 2002, EA Sports brings its college basketballfranchise to the PlayStation2 for another year. But despite fidelity to thecollege game, the result is more of a thud than a bounce. The problem isn'treally the game itself. The Play Now exhibition and full-scale tournament modesare fine, and the game includes 150 teams all detailed down to players, uniforms, fight songs, cheerleaders, players, stats, and play styles. You evenhave the option of creating your own team with everything from uniforms toplayers. The problem is what's missing compared to the competition and toprevious incarnations of March Madness on the PlayStation. About 150teams, the dynasty mode, and even the season mode are MIA! Why are these keyfeatures missing? Disappointing, to say the least. At least the game plays a decent game of basketball and is true to NCAA rulesand quirks. It shares some problems--the computer crowds the lane too much--anda graphics engine with NBA Live 2002, but at least the previousrebounding problems are fixed. And the game looks great, too, even though mostof the players don't have their real faces like in the NBA version. The audio isalso excellent; the game features roughly 60 distinctive fight songs, and thecrowd roars and quiets down with the action. --Bob Andrews Pros: Reviews (63)

The worst thing about previous incarnations of the game was the "magnet ball," the innate ability for every pass to connect with the target player EVERY time. It limited the ability to be creative in play selection and didn't mirror the real game closely enough. In addition, the camera was formerly too tight, not permitting the player to see the field around him, and FIFA's colored arrow system was too inaccurate too much of the time to plan careful passing. So now we have a "total control" type system where your passes are now handled like shots: every pass is accompanied by a power meter and passes can end up anywhere. Sounds good, right? If you want to lead a receiver, or pass into space, you can. Well, not so fast, junior. The camera has thankfully been pulled back, but at the expense of graphical detail, giving the game an overall washed-out pixellated, less-than-impressive look. Not to mention passing opportunites are still too far out of frame to mean anything except pass and hope it makes it to your guy. And the passing is so maddeningly touchy that you will be lucky to complete a majority of passes without looking like an utter amateur, passing out of touch or even right at an opponent. Now, the unforgiving new pass system might get away with it, if it weren't for the completely disparate difficulty levels. The amateur level is too easy, and will have you scoring literally at will. But then try to step up to the mid-level, and the game gets very cheap very fast. The passes that take finesse and luck for you to pull off the CPU pulls off immediately and seemingly without thought. Every one of THEIR passes is pinpoint and perfectly timed, while you are lucky to keep possession (I guarantee you will lose the possession % battle every time, 70/30 or 60/40.) This means when you get the ball, it's a mad dash resulting from you the player jamming on the triangle (speed) button in a cheap attempt to get to the goal before the cheap AI slide tackles you from behind. And have fun laughing in pain as the defensive AI seemingly is aware of your moves before you execute them. I can't count the number of times a defender has managed to successfully trap a long ball, turn, and complete a pinpoint pass to his mate, all within microseconds of a sliding challenge from me. It's almost not worth playing defense when the opponents are this bionic and psychic, with consistently split-second reflexes. This gameplay is absolutely ZERO fun. Gameplay goes a little like this: So the bottom line is, in changing the flow, the developers merely erred to the side of anarchy rather to the side of conservative staleness. It still results in precious little fun, especially in the 1-player games.

Amazon.com Product Description Reviews (11)
The computer version had great graphics, gameplay, and moderate sound. The game boy color version has poor gameplay, moderate sound, and moderate if not poor graphics. The players are a bunch of little square like images with little bumps for helmets. The controls are ok, but still this game could have had so much more depth. EA Sports spent too much time on plays and not enough time on everything else. The phisics in this game are strange, and you cant always tell where the ball is going. The player and teams don't matter much, as you can score and do pretty much everything with any player. The sound is moderate, but it is not played during the game. The opening screen and other places where the sound is played are also designed well, unlike the actual game. The tune can be a little catchy, and the sound effects arent bad. Still, the sound doesnt add up to much. The game is not very well built at all. It is very boring to play a whole season, because you cant really save in the middle of a game. The games, even when set to 5 minute quarters, last over an hour. The gameplay is exactly the same each time, with you being either blown out or winning by over 50. It can be really boring to play a 16 game season plus playoffs when each game is the same. The game play is so boring, i couldnt get past the first game. The password part is also horrible. Why should you have to type up a 15 letter password to enter your game when other games yet you go in for free? It takes forever to write it down, remeber where you put it, and enter it in. I dont see why they cant let you save in the middle in the game. If they did that i would love the game.
game play is very nice... How ever... menu & minute select is very worst... "5" "10" "15"...-_- I want free select minute and... season save is password...-_- no good I want auto Save... and Please Gaming play save... oh my love~ MADDEN NFL2001
