poor construction
I just got this bed for my 22month old son & wish that I hadn't!! The construction on this bed is horrible, it feels like my son could pull it apart by himself, or that it will come apart if he jumps on it too much( what toddler do you know that doesn't love to jump on beds?). My 4 year old's bed was cheaper & feels a hundred times sturdier, I lay with my boys for bed time eveynight & I'm afraid to sit on this bed( I am not a big person either!). Also the bed did not come with anything to support the mattress, considering that we paid $220 for this, it should have atleast had something!!! I recommend the fire engine bed by stage 2, it was cheaper & 10 x's sturdier!!!! ... Read more

Durable enough for "hand-me-downs", also comes in 2 sizes!
We just bought a 2nd-hand Roadster Toddler Bed from a family who owned it for 5 years and it STILL looks brand new! Little Tikes makes very durable toys and furniture that allow "hand-me-downs" to last. I also like the fact that LT makes this Roadster bed in two sizes: toddler bed size and standard twin size. If your little guy is so attached to his toddler bed now, there can be less fuss when he outgrows it...just move up to the next size! The only negative thing about the toddler bed is that there is no mattress support included with the bed (new or used beds). Springs or coils are usually built into the crib mattress so there is no separate box spring to use. You have to buy separate slats or plywood to hold the mattress up.

My son and I loooooove this bed.
We purchased this bed for my son a few months ago, we have another baby on the way and this bed looked fun and durable. We had no trouble putting it together, then we bought plywood for the bottom support, works great. My son loves it and it seems really comfy to him (17 months old now). We are expecting another boy so I think when he gets old enough for the toddler bed, we will get our first son the twin size one. I love little tykes products and will continue to purchase them, they always are great quality.

Found a snug mattress
I am currently living in Australia and it was time for our boy to have a new bed. We were about to purchase a new bed from the USA and have it shipped, but where my husband works someone was selling one as their child had grown out of it. We bought it, it was in GREAT condition and brought it home. It had a mattress in it that was purchased with the bed from the USA and it didn't fit very snug, so we pulled out his Australian crib bed mattress and it fits perfect, absolutely no room on the sides, and a cm or two down the bottom. You have to pull the mattress up to put the fitted sheet on, like you do with most small beds, but it fits so much better than the toddler mattresses back home in the USA.

happy with car bed
We purchased this bed for our 16 month old. He loves it! I want to thank the reviewer who recommended the "bunkie board." I was nervous about purchasing this item when I read the other reviews about the problems with the space around the matress and using cardboard as support. The description of this bed should bodly state thst it doesn't come with a support and recommend the "bunkie board" (it was $14.95- I bought it through kidrus.com. I want to thank other reviewrs for pointing out this problem, and I want to thank the reviewer who wrote about the "bunkie board." Mom of 4
I bought this for my then 9 month old son. We have four children, the last which came 8 years after we thought we were "finished". With that in mind, we didn't want to invest a lot of money in "kid" furniture because it wasn't going to get handed down to anyone, but we did want some thing that was going to be sturdy and safe for a little one. This storage center is perfect. It has the durability of Little Tikes that we have trusted for 14 years now and it has a nice furniture look to it so that our sons room isn't made entirely of plastic. He can pull himself up on it safely and easily access the drawers where his books and toys are kept. Keep in mind he is still only a week shy of 11 months. I think it is a great product. I think the prior negative review must have been a fluke. It obviously is suppose to come with the assembly hardware and hopefully their problem got resolved. Little Tikes has always been a great company for our family and my only complaint is the discontinuation of items that we thought were fantastic!!!

Very Sturdy
I have a 15 month old son and a baby on the way (due in a couple of months). We needed to get a peice of toy storage for my son, but I wanted it to be very sturdy, meaning the furniture tipping factor. This peice is very very sturdy, I can sit ontop of it and it won't break! First let me caution everyone that the screws they do easily strip as one reveiwer previously said, and if you have a large electric screwdriver, either get a smaller one or get a smaller manual one as some of the screws will be hard to put in otherwise. This is the only reason why I gave this peice 4 stars. Putting that all aside, it is easy for him to reach everything, and it looks very nice in his bedroom which I love. It took me probably about 1 hour to put together and remove all the left over garbage from the area. Once the baby moves from our bedroom to her own room down the road, I plan on buying another one of these for our soon to be make shift play area in our extended living room!

Solid construction and great design
I really like this piece of furniture. It is a great size for kids and the design is complementary with most. I had some problems putting it together, but the instructions seemed clear. The screws were easily stripped, so don't give it too much torque. The wood was in good condition and very solid. I did need a second pair of hands on occasion to get the screws in solidly as some of the locations of the screws were a bit awkward. I definitely recommend, but for those of us less "crafty", make sure you have some help available

Excellent piece of furniture....
I order this for my one year old and it is perfect. It took a very little time to put together and was a very sturdy storage shelf. I don't have to worry about it tipping over. The storage bins are very sturdy not flimsy like some. Overall it is pricey but I feel well worth the money.

GREAT PRODUCT FROM LITTLE TYKES!!!
We have been faithful buyers of everything Little Tykes since our first child was born, over 8 years ago. I was SO excited to see that they had come out with wood furniture and thought we would give it a try! We are THRILLED with the quality of this product! It went together easily and it looks great!! I love this set!
After searching for a long time for the perfect table and chairs for my daughter, I decided this one is it!! As soon as I assembled it, she was sitting at the table eating her dinner! Now she only wants to eat at the table, like a big girl. This set has been colored on, stood on, sat on and is still in great shape. The chairs have been knocked over, stood on, dragged around the house and arent even dented! My daughter eats at this table, plays here, and colors at the table. She loves it, and I love it too. The colors are fantastic for a boy or a girl, and its so pretty! The details in the chairs and table legs make it a lovely set. My parents have a little tikes set from my "baby" (20 year old) brother that is still in the backyard for the grandchildren to play with, so I know this set will last and last. My only issue with this set is that I had a really hard time getting crayon off of the table surface, and that the chair seat is pretty small. I know Im not exactly supposed to fit, but I can on the other little tikes sets. (big primary etc) Otherwise, its easy to assemble, inexpensive, good looking, a great deal!

Great set for the price!
After looking at several table and chair sets for our 18 month old daughter, we chose this set for it's price and appearance. We wanted something that our child would have fun with while not having to worry about her ruining a good piece of furniture. We made the right choice! This set is so adorable and very durable. Our daughter loves to have tea parties and color at this table. Crayon just wipes right off. Although she is still a little short to sit on the chairs by herself, she is able to sit comfortably and we know she will get much use out of this table for years! I would definitely recommend this table to parents who are looking for a cute and sturdy table for a reasonable price!

Great table for your little one!
We bought this toy for Emma for xmas and she loves it. It's very sturdy and durable. She gets hours of enjoyment out of out. She even eats her own meals at it. Highly recommended~

Great furniture for great kids
Last Christmas Santa brought our very special grand daughter this table, chairs and matching pink toy box.

This is an excellent set of furnishings for a toddler. They love having meals, color and art time, anytime on a table their own size table. The colors are pretty and the pieces are very durable. (Plastic doesn't get termites, worm wood or chipped!!!)

Another thing to consider, as I was first big on getting our little princess "painted heirloom wooden furniture". A toddler doesn't usually appreciate expensive stuff. These pieces are durable, cheap and if your little prince or princess "marks it up a bit" you're not going to have a stroke because it's affordable. Save the big buck furniture for when their older and will appreciate the finer things in life. For a toddler it doesn't get much better then Little Tikes!!!!!!!!!

Sturdy chairs, Easy to assemble, Additional chairs available
I bought this table and chair set today at my local TRU. Before I opened the box, I called Little Tikes to make sure I could buy more chairs. I have three daughters and watch a little boy, so two chairs just won't do. However, TRU didn't have anything with more than two, and Little Tikes has rarely failed me in the past so I chose this set. ...

When I assembled the table, it was a snap...or should I say screw? Literally all I had to do was screw the pink legs into the table top. I think it took me longer to open the box than it did to set up the table. The chairs are all one piece plastic.

The table is a tad wobbly, which is why I gave it a 4 on durability. I have no doubt that one of my kids will attempt to stand on it the instant my back is turned. I don't feel that it will collapse, but it will wobble enough, in my opinion, to set them off balance. My youngest daughter is 18 months old and a little on the short side, but she has no problems sitting in the chairs.

This purchase was a long time coming for me. I considered for a time a nice wooden set, but in the end decided that the durability and fun appeal of a Little Tikes product outweighed the cutsie-sophisticated idea of a wooden set. Plus there will inevitably be crayon and marker scribbles, jelly and yogurt spills, and toy hammer misses...I would rather my kids learn and enjoy themselves on a plastic set that can take it than worry and protect a wooden set and hinder them.

NOTE: The extra chairs arrived today, one week after I called and ordered them from LT. My experience with their Customer Service department was excellent and highly efficient. Most importantly, there's no more fights over who's turn it is to sit in the chairs! ... Read more

Not as nice as you'd think
From the picture this looks like it's a solid wood toy chest. Not so, the top is completely hollow and cannot support any significant weight. The only solid wood pieces are the edges and cross beams. Overall it's an OK piece of furniture for the price but don't be fooled by the picture, we were.

Mission Design Toy Box
This toy box as well of the rest of the mission set from Little Tike is excellant!! The quality is superperb. All pieces are solid wood not cheap veneers...the only exception is the hollow core toy box top WHICH MAKES SENSE!!! I would not want a solid oak toy box top of that size slamming on my 6 year old, 3 year old, or 1 year old's head. There is also a divot in the top edge of all sides so than fingers don't get pinched. The top still holds all three of my children with no problem, a combined weight of 120lbs. I am very happy as well with the table and chair set and and the storage cabinet. I plan to pass these on to my grandchildren, they are commercial quality. Erin

Great toy chest
Was looking for a nice sturdy, wooden toy chest to replace an overflowing toy basket and this was perfect. The quality of the wood is great, the design nice and simple, and the assembly wasn't bad at all. It took about an hour to do by myself while hubby was doing other things. The size is perfect for our house and the safety latch is a nice security measure. My 3 year old loves to rummage thru it for her toys and mommy loves the fact that the toys aren't cluttered everywhere. I highly recommend it.

You get what you pay for
For what you pay for this product, it's decent. What I like: (1) Great size. (2) Safety hinges really do work well. (3) For the cost, it looks good (and works in my dining room). (4) Previous reviewer is correct: the top is not solid wood (and neither are the side, front or rear panels). I think this is designed this way so that the top is lighter and the safety hinges work, but it does give you a sense that it's of lower quality. To look at it, though, you would never know this. You only realize it as you put it together. (5) Goes together pretty fast with a phillips and a flathead. (6) My nanny liked it and she's the biggest critic in our household, especially when it comes to safety. What I don't like: (1) The safety hinges attach to the rear panel, and it's flimsy. It wobbles with every opening. However, there are two hinges that hold the top to the rear corners that ease my mind on safety. I'm not worried about the top falling off or coming down hard. My 2-and-a-half-year-old had the most fun this weekend opening and closing this box and I rarely worried about his fingers. Now that he's opened it so many times successfully, I won't worry at all. (2) The die cut on the bottom was not correct, so we had to cut the bottom piece to make it fit (or send it back--what a pain). (3) The white plastic pieces that are designed to cover the tightening mechanisms don't fit. If I'm going to use them, I'm going to have to glue them.

Fits great in my living room
I was looking for a way to organize my son's toys because he has to play in our living room as our home is rather small. This definitely fits the bill. great bed
we bought this bed for our 21 month old, when he started climbing out of his crib. He was so happy when he seen it and was excited to go to sleep, its only been two nights that hes had it and i only had to stay with him for 15 min the 1st night then he went all by his self, and has slept GREAT, he calls it his car-bed. the only thing is that it is hard to put the screws in, we had a hard time with it and the wheel came off, we called little tikes and they fed exd us with a new one. i would suggest anyone moving out of the crib to a big bed is to put up the new bed next to the crib, so it gets the toddler use to sleeping in there be fore they go into their big boy/girl room, it helped amazingly with us, our son is so comfortable with it! love the bed

Very happy 2 year old
We bought this bed for my son when he was 20 months old and I was pregnant with child #2. He loves it! He loves anything with wheels so we had no trouble moving him from the crib in the nursery to his big boy room complete with car bed (and truck wallpaper border of course!). What I like most about the bed is that the sides are higher than the mattress so that he can't roll out and we don't need a railing. If you feel that you need more of a side I have even seen people take out the box springs so that the mattress is enclosed on all sides. And of course, just like the rest of Little Tikes products, it is very durable. Well worth the money!

My son loves it -- but can be a danger
My 3 year old loves this bed and finally sleeps though the night! However, it uses a standard size twin mattress (38"wide x 75"long which creates a 4-inch gap along one side or 2-inch gap on both sides. My son gets his arms and legs stuck along the sides and if you put it on one side, his whole body would fit through the gap! I am very disappointed that this product does not fit the mattress as stated.

Our son LOVES it!
After our 2 year old son learned to climb out of his crib, he wouldn't sleep in his room at all...until we bought him this bed! The side are high enough that he can't roll out and he just thought it was so great he had to tell everyone about his new carbed. There are a few things to keep in mind when buying it though. One is the size. It is a large bed so make sure you have room for it. The second is that there is about 1 1/2" space between the mattress and the bed (for the comforter to fit) and I have found quite a few toys (and other items) down there. We did have a little problem with one wheel staying on and I contacted Little Tykes. They were great and shipped a replacement part to us that came a lot quicker than I thought. But the wheels are only held on by a screw so you have to make sure kids don't pull or climb on the wheels or they will probably come off. ... Read more

I am not suprised that a 22 year old (carhe5) got stuck in this bed.Maybe try the fire truck it looks bigger.

Custom Sports Car
I love that the tires mount to the bed and the fact that they say "Made In The USA" on them. These beds are just too cool, and a quality product. My Grandkids love them and I know that they will out last anything else we might have bought them. We bought 1/2 inch particle board sheets and had the hardware store cut them to the same size as a twin bed mattress, they didn't charge anything to cut it to size. We laid the particle board over the slats in the bed so we didn't have to buy a box spring. I think we saved about $100 doing it that way. It allowed the mattress to recess down into the bed just a little to protect them some if, (and when), they jump on the bed. These are keepsake beds and I doubt that they will ever sell them, or give them away. They just love them too much.

King of the house!
We bought this bed for my 27 month old son.The first time he saw it his eyes were like saucers.First he tried to turn the wheels, then it took him 4 tries to hop over the side, but once he got into the bed we couldn't get him out.He was like the king of the mountain! He loves sliding down the hood in the morning to get out of it and now climbs into it the same way.His smile was worth every penny spent.

I went to buy this for my 22 yr old son. However, the twin matress does not fit securely in the car. They are 6-12 inch gaps between the mattress and the side of the car on all sides, plenty or room for my son's arm, leg or face to get stuck in! Sure I could probably rig something up, but for this amt of money I shouldn't have to, nor am I going to!

It allowed the mattress to recess down into the bed just a little to protect them some if, (and when), they jump on the bed. These are keepsake beds and I doubt that they will ever sell them, or give them away. They just love them too much.

King of the house!
We bought this bed for my 27 month old son. The first time he saw it his eyes were like saucers. First he tried to turn the wheels, then it took him 4 tries to hop over the side, but once he got into the bed we couldn't get him out. He was like the king of the mountain! He loves sliding down the hood in the morning to get out of it and now climbs into it the same way. His smile was worth every penny spent.

Little Tikes Twin Race Car Bed
We got this bed for my son when he was 22 months old. We were moving and bought this for his new room. The excitement of his new bed made the move a happy time for him too. He is now turning 8 and refuses to turn the bed over to his little brother so I guess we need to look into another one! We started out with the mattress and bunkie board on the lowest level so he couldn't roll out, then moved it up to the next level when he was older. The toy box in the front holds alot and the headboard gave him a place to go with stuffed animals and other stuff. Security concerns
I went to buy this for my 22 yr old son. However, the twin matress does not fit securely in the car. They are 6-12 inch gaps between the mattress and the side of the car on all sides, plenty or room for my son's arm, leg or face to get stuck in! Sure I could probably rig something up, but for this amt of money I shouldn't have to, nor am I going to!

Custom Sports Car
I love that the tires mount to the bed and the fact that they say "Made In The USA" on them. These beds are just too cool, and a quality product. My Grandkids love them and I know that they will out last anything else we might have bought them. We bought 1/2 inch particle board sheets and had the hardware store cut them to the same size as a twin bed mattress, they didn't charge anything to cut it to size. We laid the particle board over the slats in the bed so we didn't have to buy a box spring. I think we saved about $100 doing it that way. Wow!
After looking in stores, catalogs and online we decided to order this table for our two year old son. Even though the price was a bit more than I felt we needed to spend it was worth it. The quality is great the legs are thick and sturdy Our son loves it! Of course he loved helping me attach the legs which was simple and after we comvinced him to turn it over he was delighted to belly up with his colors and books.
