Editorial Review

This is a big (42-piece) set of plastic tools, enough to equipa comprehensive play workshop. Three battery-powered tools with soundeffects are included: a drill, saw, and sander. Then there's a plane,T-square, working plastic tape measure, pipe wrench, pliers, hardhat, tool belt, nuts, bolts, screwdrivers, and much more. The power toolsrequire two AA batteries each (not included). --Richard Farr ... Read more

Non-stop fun!
I bought this for my nephew who is 2-1/2 and he just loves it! It's his favorite toy and has kept him engaged non-stop for the past 3 months and running. He takes the toys with him everywhere and even to bed each night and they're also the first thing he asks for in the morning. Because there are so many different tools, he never gets bored and because they look and sound real (some even work), he tries to figure out how things work and to fix things with them.

A Must Have For Every 'Bob The Builder' Fan!
This set is great! My 2-1/2 year old nephew has not stopped playing with it since Christmas morning. The only time he pays attention to the other toys he received is when he's 'fixing' them. You could not possibly ask for more out of a $20.00 tool set. I would make two recommendations if you buy this: 1)Go to your local K-Mart, Target, Walmart, whatever and pick up an inexpensive (but real) plastic tool box to store all the stuff in (I got one for $5.00) and 2) you absolutly want to take everything out of the packaging and get the batteries installed before presenting as a gift. The package is sealed like Fort Knox and the power tools all require a screwdriver to install the batteries.

needs a tool box
My son received this for his 4th birthday and loves it, especially the mechanical tools. One thing missing with this 42-set is the tool box. We have other home depot tool but now will need a tool box big enough for everything.

I've Seen Better... I've also seen worse!
This set is quite the complete workshop for little ones. I was quite disappointed when we received it though, as it looks about as sturdy as the $1.99 Grocery Store toy tools, but it seems to be holding up a bit better. Our 2 year old absolutely loves all the moving parts, and has tried to sand down nearly every surface in the house (good thing it's only a toy). It is also nice that in one fell swoop, he has most of the toys that he usually sees dad use! Unfortunately the drill bits are a bit difficult to put in, but I was impressed that the drill direction is reversible.

The labels on these toys are the cheasiest part of the set. Once we started to take the labels off (half were falling off, or not on well), the tools began to look much better.

It's a cute set, but not the highest quality. I would not pay more than the price it's marked at here on amazon! It's also huge! Amazon will ship it in a very large box to accomodate the length of the original packaging, so be prepared!

Happy Fixing!

Beware of the Home Depot Grey Sander Handle
I purchased The Home Depot 42-piece Power Tool Set for
Christmas, along with The Workbench & 4 other Home Depot
Sets. Today I found the grey handle on the Sander was
off which left a very sharp screw on the sander exposed
to my 3 1/2 & 1 1/2 Year Old Grandsons. We can't attach
the handle back on, so the sander is garbage.
Also the snake-light never works more than 5 minutes,
then you have to replace the batteries & bulb.
The rest of the Tools & Sets are Great
& the boys love them. ... Read more

Home Depot tool box
My son loves this toy. That is why I'm buying him a new one even though his first one started breaking the second day he had it. I wish someone made a toy just like this but a durable, well-made version. I'd be happy to spend alot of money on one that would last rather than re-buying this disposable version every couple of months when my son is left with nothing but broken plastic bits.

Nice set except the Box latch
I got this set for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She likes the tools ok but the box latch broke on the second day. We got another set that included a measuring tape which she really likes to use.

great fun but not at all durable
My 3 yr-old twin sons love working like daddy with their new tool box. They love the saw (which makes a little sawing noise), they love to pound in the "nails" with the hammer, and they are learning to screw in the nails with the screw driver. The only problem is that the latches on both toolboxes broke within a day, no exaggeration. Now my kids can't carry around the tools in the box, which was one of the reasons we purchsed this particular toolbox set. I am going to have to go out and buy them new boxes, so we probably should have bought a more expensive set of tools with box in the first place.

looks like great fun.
I bought this for my son for Christmas. I looked like it was for real wood. I am going to give this as a gift to my someday nephew as he is a bit younger than my son and he will just love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Home Depot Tool Box Set
My 5 year old son got this toy for Christmas and has not put it away like the rest of the Christmas toys. He has great fun going into his father's workshop and helping dad with his own tools.

The only problem I have with it is that the plastic closure broke off of the tool box less than a week after he got it and it is now difficult for him to carry it around the house to fix and create his projects. Other than that the toy is great fun for boys and girls. My 4 year old daughter also assists her brother with various projects when he needs her assistance. This toy is great fun for all. ...
