Can't go wrong with Lego
My kids have been playing with their Lego's as long as I can remember. This is a good set to start off with, for the basics, and you can always add on from there.

Good Toy
This game has allowed me to inspire my imagination. i am 10 years old. when i am bored this is a great entertainment. i can tell that this product is really worth it. (...). My mom alredy got 2 of these boxes. This is a extrodinary lego set for all lego collectors.

Tub 4107 versus Tub 4103
I wondered whether, in recommending buying several smaller tubs rather than this larger one, other reviewers were just splitting hairs. Here's some data. Based on the Peeron.com inventories, this tub contains the following BRICKS (we're disregarding plates and sloped pieces):

The figure in parentheses is what you would get if you bought three 4103 tubs (currently [price] each on Amazon) instead of one 4107 ([price]). Bricks greater than 2 dots in area: 242 in the 3-tub scenario, with 48 2x4 bricks, versus 239 for Tub 4107 with 29 2x4's. So the trade off is about 70 assorted plates and sloped pieces plus all the 1x1's and 1x2's in 4107 for about 20 2x4's and 24 2x3's.

Now, here's what the other reviewers neglect to mention: each 200-piece tub ALSO contains two, count 'em, TWO black hose pieces. Any 4 year old will readily demonstrate the tremendous value of those pieces in building spaceships, "chocolate coating machines", submarines, etc.. Best to go with the three 4103's.

Too many small Legos
I agree with everyone who says there are too many small pieces! We have 2 of these sets-just to get enough bricks to build a house, fort, castle or whatever! I'm now on the hunt for a set with larger bricks-like I had as a kid. I'm very disappointed with the sets that are out for this very reason! ... Read more

Its a considerable accomplishment to be considered wise when youre entirely built out of small bits of molded plastic. But yet thats the distinction of Danju, one of the gallant heroes presented in LEGOs line of Knights Kingdom figures. Danju is done up in purple and yellow colors and has his face wisely protected in advance of battle. He carries a big gold sword as well as a purple and yellow shield emblazoned with the image of a wolf. There are 43 pieces here in all and since its all LEGO, the pieces can be used to construct nearly anything else one can imagine within or outside of the age of chivalry. 5 Star Review!
As a teacher and a grandmother, I am always looking for that particular toy that will be educational as well as entertaining. In my teacher/grandma role,there is a fine line between buying something that "looks" educational and something that is a "toy." LEGO products have always met the goals I am looking for. This particular product is something that will grow with the child and give them many hours of building enjoyment. Believe it or not, parents,there is plenty of logic and math concepts in this product. I use LEGOS in my math lab to teach all math concepts from basic addition and subtraction to fractions. The kids think they are having a free day when we use the LEGOs. (In their eyes, if we don't use a book, we are not doing math.) Gotta have more wheels
Every adult and child who has ever built with Lego and those who will ever build with Lego need wheels. When children, or those acting like children, gather around a huge pile of Lego the first thing that the start reaching for are wheels.

This model of an AT-AT (All-Terrain Armored Transport) walker from 1980's The Empire Strikes Back is probably going to appeal more to Dad than to kids who don't remember this chapter of the Star Wars saga. TOTALY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is by far the best Lego set ever!I'm a little disapionted that the real thing in the movie can carry up to 40 men!And that the cockpit is held together by hanging on to one little piece.The neck can be fixed from breaking off by removing one or two peices from the neck.Hope this helped!!

The best lego ever!
I freaked out when I got the Star Wars AT-AT. It takes a lot of time though. But any way all of my friends are comeplaning when you touch the cocpit and it falls off. I think the lego company is just making it realistic because in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Luke Throws a thermal detanater in side the AT-AT. But put it some where safe when little kids come over to play trust me I know what happens and I think you do to it BREAKS!! So try this one and if you like it good job you have chose bum bum bum bum The Best Lego Ever!

Fantastic but Fragile
TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is by far the best set the LEGO Company ever made!!!!! It looks so cool on display, too! But when 4 year olds come to play, move this set out of the way, for it is very fragile. The head comes off so easily because it is only attached by one lame piece. LEGO probably made it realistic because in episode 5 Luke throws a bomb at the at-at's head and it falls off. This is also a very detailed set. I would reccomend this set to any LEGO Star Wars fan ages 9 and up! Hope this helped!!

AT-AT
Ever since I saw Empire Strikes Back, I wanted a Lego All Terrain -Armored Transport.It takes 2-4 hours to build.The head is poorly put together.It just flails open and doesn't lock closed.The neck joint is just too weak.One tap on the head and it WILL fall off!Theres a solution.Shorten the amount of circular Lego pieces on the neck joint.This exposes more of it causing a good tight connection between the neck and body.If you don't have patience this isn't the lego for you.Besides this its just what I expected.The body and legs are really durable.It's a good buy.

AWESOME
I got this lego toy for my birthday I like it very much.I think it`s cool because the AT-AT has a compartment where the men of the empire could rest and wait when they will attack. It is also cool that it is hard to destroy the AT-AT. The men inside of the AT -AT are safe. I was very happy when I heard the AT-AT had come out from STAR WARS lego.I am also happy that the AT-AT looks a lot realistic from STAR WARS. Some people are confused why the head is very fragile and falls off. Well in episode V Luke throws a bomb in the AT-AT and the head blows up I think the lego company tried to make this realistic. I have no disa greemence with the AT-AT. I recomend this lego toy to people who like the empires technical machines. It took me two hours to build the AT-AT. We've played with many LEGO sets in our time. Ones with motors, pulleys, and even flower pots; but this is the most ingenious one yet. There are instructions for at least 6 models here: a bug, a dog, a blender, and a fish (that really swims in water!) were just some of the things you can make. We chose to build the monkey, mostly because it has really cute hair, but also because we wanted to see it maneuver across the room on a piece of red string. The monkey is level two of three levels of building (quick, experienced, or advanced) and didn't take that long to put together. We attached the string that was included to a doorknob and a piece of furniture and set the monkey's little claw-like hands upon it. With the motor running, this extremely cute monkey pulls itself hand-over-hand from one end of the string to the other – backwards and forwards.The monkey, with curled tail, goofy face, and dangling feet, looks from side to side occasionally as if to check you out. We didn't have time to build any other models, but we sure wanted to keep this toy a LOT longer.This set features 253 pieces, some new funky colors, specialty elements, and the usual illustrated 'Inspiration Book.' Favorite Christmas Gift!
This is my son's (age 5+) favorite Christmas gift this year. He plays with it for hours each day. The instructions are easy to follow for a child with patience and good fine motor skills. When he's not creating something from the instruction book, he's making his own "thing-a-mi-jig" and loves hooking the battery pack up to it to see what it will do. As the other reviewer noted, only six step-by-step designs are included in the instruction book. The other designs are suggested by various photos and angles to give the adventurous (me) a real challenge. I would buy it for a gift and I plan to buy other "Inventor" series LEGO products for my son.

What a disappointment...
Unlike the supposed success of the original review of this toy, we did not have such luck. Two parents attempted to put it together and after hours of trying to get it to work (crawl hand over hand across a string), it would not work. It is not designed well at all. The weight of the monkey pulls it to the side and the "hand" does not connect with the string. The hands seem to be at an incorrect angle for them to be in the right position to catch the string. It would not work going forward or backward. We double checked all of the steps and are sure we had it built right. Maybe we will have more luck with some of the other designs.

As for durability, if it missed the string and fell to the ground, it fell all to pieces.

The cover is also misleading - saying you can make 17 different things with it. I'm sure you can, but they only give you 6 plans, not 17. These lego things are so complicated that unless you have the detailed designs, I don't see how they expect you to be able to make those other 11 items, especially if you are only an 8 yr old.

Our son was so disappointed that it would not climb the string. That was a shame since it took a couple of hours to put it together and then nothing. ... Read more

Fun to Build and Play
I got this set for Christmas last year and I had a great time building it and playing with it. This set is rather large so be prepared to have a place to store it (I built it on a piece of plywood). I would also suggest building it on a hard surface.
