Darn good toy, my 20m old girl LOVES it!
This basketball set is great. As long as you attach the rim according to instructions and fill the base w/sand (use a wide mouth funnel), it will not come apart or tip over easily. My 20m old girl uses it almost every day, many times twice a day. Her 8 yr., 5 yr. and 2 yr. old cousins also love it. People who have had problems with the rim coming off did not attach it properly and those that tip over did not put sand in the base. It would be a good idea to buy a couple of extra same size balls and a small hand pump for them, especially if more than one child uses it at a time.

Great toy.
We bought this for our 22 mo old son for christmas. He loves to play ball...any kind. An even younger child, like 18 month would be a good intro for this toy also. He really likes this. I think it will endure his roughness. It was easy to put together. Santa appreciated that. Enjoy.

We Keep this in the Family Room!
I highly recommend this toy! I purchased this when my son was about 15 months old, and it still looks brand new even though we use it just about every day. We keep it in the house in the family room, and on rainy days when we can't get outside, it makes a wonderful physical activity. Every child who comes in this house can't resist playing with it! My nieces have enjoyed this as much as my two boys. My husband certainly has enjoyed it too. . .

Excellent Toy
My toddler loves this. Very durable, but must make sure the rim snaps into place.

Super fun for my son!
This toy requires no tools for set up. I was able to set it up in less than 5 minutes. My 2 year old son loves it. I like the fact that you can adjust the height. It a family toy for everyone
AS soon as the boxes got to my house my wanted me to open right away. They played for hours. His family got together at our house and my sister-in law was playing her son who is 10 year old was out the girl next door. It was a crowd pleaser. Everyone had so much fun even my husband who is big on basketball. You also can bring it in the house in the winter as long as you keep under 5 feet. If you have anyone in the house who love sport this the perfect toys . the biggest thing I like about it is that is mobile. I have a three years old and four old and just love it.

THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE RECALLED!!!
I have had this product for some time now and have called Fisher Price three times to have the rim replaced. They won't replace the rim anymore and have asked for me to ship the unit back to them to examine. IF any weight ie. tugging on the rim (or trying to emulate their NBA role models by hanging from it) or using a heavier ball, the rim will drop down because at the back of the rim the plastic is thin and crushes like an aluminum can. When the rim drops more than 45 degrees, the rim falls on the child and the heavy backboard then falls down like a guillotine on any child near it. Very unsafe in my opinion. I am going to see what other brands look like and I'm retiring this one.

What's NOT to like?!?!
I can't believe anyone would complain about this product!!! It is absolutely WONDERFUL!!! The wheels let us move it all around, it easily adjusts to whatever height my son decides he wants it at (depending on whether he wants to shoot or dunk) and it has already lasted for 2 1/2 years and looks brand new. We're debating about buying a second one for outdoors so that we can keep the current one in his room! It is his favorite toy...

Its pretty good...
I found this toy very hard to adjust to varying heights. We ended up leaving it at just one height, which kind of defeated the "grow to pro" aspect. It certainly did hold up well and it had a place to set two basketballs, which we also liked. Adjustment was odd and awkward.

Built So Well I needed a HAMMER
My wife and I just purchased this for our son for Easter. He loves it. "BASKETBALL FUN!" That's his exact words and he's only 2.

I'm sure as my son gets older the educational value will increase to build teamwork and basic skills.

It's so well built I needed a Hammer. On their scale it should have a scale to rate how hard it was to put together. My wife and I put most of it together with in a couple minutes. The problem started when we put the first section of plastic in the front section. Well after we reviewed the situation I thought it would be better to put it in the rear position. My wife and I wrestled with that thing for 15 minutes until I said, "GET THE HAMMER!" I pounded on that thing until it came undone. I was heated. Anyway it's all worth our sons enjoyment. excellent hoop set for older little ones
We received this item as a gift. It took about 20 minutes to assemble, with no tools required. (I did use a shoe to pound the wheel axle in though :-) There were a lot of stickers included, so I had the kids decorate the apparatus as I assembled it, and everyone was happy.

There are five height adjustments but even the lowest is 5 feet, so this set is a little too tall for the recommended three-year old; however, it does fold up nicely to reduce its impact on your space, it does move around easily using the wheels, and you can fill the bottom with sand or water to stabilize it. With the exception of the axle for the wheels, all parts are plastic and colorful. This is a very nice basketball hoop (though as I said, a bit tall for the lower recommended age), and one small basketball is included. Easy to put together, easy to enjoy and easy to store.

I love this hoop with all of its amazing features. stickers with all shapes and sizes make this the best present i have ever gotten. the wheel, awww, the wheels make this amazing. it is just so easy to transport to all my friends houses. the hoop raises. one yime time i made a hundred dunks in a row, and my mom gave me 2 dollars because she so happy. this is the best hoop in the world. the ball is orange just like my favorite player chris dudley. he make my eyes light up. it feel like i'm him when i'm playing down in the basement. over all this toy proved to be very efficient in my basketball education.

this is a great toy
i bought this toy for my little 3 year old brothers birthday, he loves it. he likes how i can play him one on one and not have to keep score in our head or on paper. this is great and he learned a lot about basketball.

The Hoop of Many Featrures
I found that this product was very well built and manufactured. It was everythign i wanted it to be. The adjustable rim for different kind of play, the score keeper, and the wheels. The stickers were cool too. Since I have gotten it there hasn't been one day I haven't had fun with it. The only problem that I had encountered it that the "break-away" rim folded a couple times besides that it has been great for me and all who plays it.

Unique and Creative, This ball will be one of a KIND!
My 5 year old son received the 'Design Your Own Basketball' kit as a birthday present from a friend.

We opened the package and used the provided air pump to inflate the translucent ball. The pump was easy enough for my 5 year old to operate and he had a fun time inflating the ball himself - it made him feel 'strong' :) After inflating the ball, he chose the paint color he would use first. He chose red... I filled up the provided paint injector with the red paint, inserted the tip into the ball and he squoze the paint in the ball. We bounced the ball back and forth to each other... distributing the paint in a splatter like pattern around the inside of the ball. It looked really neat! We then used all the other colors and bounced each one to make a neat pattern and complete the ball.

My son is very proud of his creation, he did most of it himself...AND he has a unique ball that no one else in the neighborhood has :) We would recommend this kit to others and will buy some in the future to give as gifts too!

I bought this for my 6 year old & she opened it as an early present.The ball is ok,it bounces much farther than a real basketball,being made of a different sort of rubber.Ok for bouncing but not to good for real basketball. The paint was fun to inject into the ball,but you can't really control where it goes though.As it turns out,that doesn't matter because all the paint mixed and puddled in the bottom of the ball.It doesn't seem to be drying in there.So don't get your hopes up artisticlly,but its fun for 4 to 6 year olds.don't pay full price for this,wait until its at least 50% off. ... Again?
Here we go again..the electronic "sound" device is mute. Everytime I try and get a basketball hoop with a device that actually works, all I get is a soundless piece of junk. The toy is all right, but when you expect to get something that works and it is returned several times and one gets the same problem over and over..one is wondering if it's the manufacuturer or the toy store??

SON'S FAVORITE TODDLER TOY
My son, now 4 1/2 recieved this toy on his 1st birthday and it immediately became his favorite toy. This STURDY DURABLE toy got a DAILY workout from my son for about two and a half years. At which time we retired it for no other reason than he had graduated to a taller hoop (this one goes to 4 foot). I should also mention that our son preferred a full size ball (yes, it fits!)to the one that is included. I mention that only to support the DUABILITY rating. DURABLE it is!!!!! After four children Little Tikes has never failed us, when we have had a problem they have ALWAYS helped us rectify it. GUYS, if you can't put something together CORRECTLY, ask for help!!!!

It's a hit!
We have two kids, ages 3 and 1. They both love this toy! The only "problem" we have had is them fighting over who gets the ball ... so pick up an extra ball if you have more than one kid playing with this. As for the toy itself, it is very durable construction, has withstood being toppled over more than once, and the hoop does not fall out because we have pushed it firmly into place (you will hear a snap when it locks). The children hang on the hoop and it is just fine. I love the adjustable height of the stand, and the net has held up despite many things besides just a ball being forced through it. Now I just need to fill the base with sand and we will be in great shape! This is one of the best toys we have purchased for the kids, it keeps them active while having fun.

Worst Hoop
this is the worst hoop ever. No not spend your money on this piece of junk. the rim keeps on falling down even when it is in place. Plus the pieces are very easy to break.

About the Rim
I have three young children. They loved playing with this toy and did so nearly every day. We too had trouble getting the rim to snap into place when we first assembled the set. Although the rim was securely in place, I always felt it was not perfectly level as the front seemed to dip down about an inch--just enough to bother the eye. Well, one day my 3 year old, in his excitement to get the ball, went behind the hoop and knocked it over. As a result the rim cracked and broke. Needless to say my sons were very sad that Daddy couldn't fix it--even with super glue. I've held on to the base figuring I may be able to buy a replacement part or find the part I need at a yard sale or something. No luck yet though. ... Read more

Very good basketball.
Let me just start this review out by making it clear that i am a huge basketball/NBA/WNBA/CBA fan. I picked up this basketball and started dribbling it. I was amazed at two things.

First of all, it bounces really high and you very rarely have to keep pumping it up like you do with some other basketballs. You can use it both outside/indoors although it is geared for more indoors then outdoors.

Second of all, the grip of the basketball is very good, so it won't slip out of your hands. This has been the only basketball that i have actually owned that doesn't slip out of my hands.

batteries
hi, when i first saw the basketball game on the net i was overwhelmed. when i gave it to my son for his christmas oh my god he was at a lost for words. to my dismay, no amount of batteries that i put it would work. i purchased at least 4 sets of 'c' batteries (16 in all) and for the life of me the thing would not work. because of this the fun that is intended for my son to have just shattered and i feel like i failed him terribly. i don't regret buying it but i'm disappointed because it does not have the full effect. i wonder if it's because of the christmas rush i got a defaulted game. to return it it's gonna cost me because i live in jamaica.

This toy is just for Toddlers
We just purchased this and what a big disappointment for us all. The ball that comes with it is truly sized for a toddler at best. There is a lever you have to install (that goes across and into the net) to activate the score keeping function, and this lever will not allow any bigger sized balls than the included one to pass through the net. My son is 7 yrs old and wants to play with his REAL basketball (a bit smaller than adult sized basketballs) and he cannot with this set. If I disconnect the lever, he could use this, but that defeats the purpose of having an electronic score keeping hoop. For [$] I want a hoop that we can all use. Also the volume is very loud with no on/off switch or volume control. I would not recommend this for any child over 3 yrs. old, although the volume is so loud it might frighten a young child. ...

Best Choice, even for the price!
I bought this basketball hoop after taking back the Little Tikes Easy Shot. We would probably been happy with the Easy Shot one, if the hoop did not constantly fall off. BUT, I am really glad it did, because when we were looking for alternatives, we came across this one. It is so much more fun! My kids range in age from 2-10, and everyone loves it, even us parents. Here are the things I love about it:

1. It plays games with the kids, so if you have an "only child" it interacts versus just sitting there.

2. It is MUCH MORE sturdy than the other Easy Shot one. I am not afraid that this one will topple over. It has a wider base.

3. It is assembled much better than the Easy Shot, in that the hoop does not need to be pushed in the headboard. The Easy Shot kept sliding out of the hole it was made to go into.

4. It is larger than most, but still small enough to keep in our basement.

5. This basketball hoop will grow better with your child.

The ONLY thing that might get on your nerves would be that there is no volume control, but I would not list that a negative, I hardly notice it.

Was glad when the batteries wore out!
First off all the cons of this toy: It is VERY loud. Even outdoors, the noise from it was unbearable even for the kids. We solved that by putting some electrical tape over the speaker. Also, outdoors the wind seems to activate the sensor and it falsely activates the scoring/shooting mechanism. So if you had this toy indoors, this problem would be alleviated. One more thing, there is no way to TURN IT OFF besides removing the back of the battery cover, which involving getting out a screwdriver.
That's why I was relieved when the batteries wore out after only a month.

The PROS: My children (ages 3 and 5 1/2) did seem to enjoy keeping score. After a certain amount of time the scoreboard would time out and shut off. (But then again the wind would sometimes falsely reactivate it!) The maximum height is perfect for "bigger kids" without having to get a full sized basketball goal.

My final recommendation would be to look at other manufacturers of basketballs with scoreboards, or just go with the non electronic ones. Sometimes, less is more!

EDITED: My additional thoughts after using this product for almost a year. The whole thing seems to be not well constructed. The weight of the electronic scoreboard makes the board dangerously lean forwards. Also the height adjustment latch does not work. This product was kept in a garage when not in use so it should not be falling apart this easily. Little Tikes is sending a new post in hopes this will help. But, due to general disappointment and constantly explaining to the kids why they can't play basketball, I would steer clear of this goal. ... Read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Pump not durable
This is a good ball, and the pump is nice.Our pump broke within 6 months, but you can still inflate the ball using a regular pump and needle.I took it to a sporting goods store to report the problem and possibly exchange it.They told me that the pounding the ball takes causes the pumps to break.Also, the surface on our ball wore a little more than I would have expected, given that it was supposed to be an indoor/outdoor ball.Nevertheless, it is one my kids' favorites (and we have a lot!).
