Fun to Build and Play
I got this set for Christmas last year and I had a great time building it and playing with it. This set is rather large so be prepared to have a place to store it (I built it on a piece of plywood). I would also suggest building it on a hard surface.

Wild West adventurer Buck N. Bronco and his pal Dusty Trail areroundin' up some wild horses and building the finest ranch this side ofthe Mississippi. Children can spend hours--on their own or withfriends--helping them construct their western compound. There areenough real-wood Lincoln Logs (114 to be exact) and brightly coloredplastic awnings, doors, and windows to make at least three structureson the ranch. There are barrels, four horses, and even a water trough.Instructions for a corral, a blacksmith's shop, and a small fort(complete with lookout roof and flag) are included, and, of course, there are many other building possibilities, some of which are picturedon the giant tub the set is packed in. --M. Great Toy!
I bought this for my 4 year old son Marshall at Christmas. He loves it. He plays with it almost every day! His twin sister Jamey likes it too but not as much as my son. I found this toy to be worth the money.

Safe but not challengin
Lincoln logs are one of the best building toys available. unfortunatly these logs are almost fully prebuilt. This removes quite a bit of the learning experience for the child. Children do not need the toys prebuilt. they should still need to do more than place the pre-built roof on a pre-built home. Lincoln logs needs to go back to allowing us to assemble the home the way we want it.

Child Play
This is a great consturtive toy! The ranch really allows my six year old daughter to know what it is like on a farm and to know how I grew up. She took them to school for show and tell and her whole class liked it. The Lincoln Logs Wild West Ranch Building Set is also priced right and is worth every penny! I bought it for my daughter two years agoand not one piece has broken! I am very satisfied with this prouduct and I hope you will be too! This is a wonderfull buy!

Wild West Fun
A great value for a great toy... no batterys, no determined set up or sounds, Just imagination and fun!!! A classic!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Reliving childhood
I am 45 years old and I played with Lincoln Logs with my brothers. My sons are 5 and 2 and they have only recently discovered the joys of imagining the 'old west' with their Lincoln Logs. We have just one problem. We have three different sets that all ended up together in the same toy box. ... We are very happy that Lincoln Logs have remained real wood -- it adds so much more realism to our already creative young minds. Thank you for remaining real!! ... Read more

Fantastic Pirate Ship!! The Best Toy Pirate Ship Ever!
This is a tremendous pirate ship. Playmobil is by far the best maker of toy ships. What is so great is that it looks so good and realistic while still being a toy. Disregard other reviews that say "my kids destroyed it". I taught my son, 6 at the time, to take care of his things, and after years of use it still endures. My daughters love it also. The winch, the cabin, the hold and all the other details are awesome. Clearly a classic. I have BestLock, Disney Treasure Planet, Fisher Price and other brands of Pirate ships and this is clearly the best. We even attached the Playmobil motor and sailed it around the pool. It goes so well with the other Playmobil themed toys. I wish they would come out with an even bigger ship, but this is clearly the best available and it looks so good on the bonus room shelf when not in use! As for assembly, you wouldn't expect something this great to assemble in 5 minutes, but it is soooo cool with the rigging and sails. It's the kind of toy you can display. It works great with Playmobil or Papo figures. Clearly one of the best toys in "our" collection.

Perfect Pirate Ship For Older Kids
I debated buying this ship for my son's 8th birthday (thought maybe it would be too 'young') and decided to get it after my 10.5-year-old daughter insisted that her brother would love it.

Always trust a child's instinct. My son received it today for his birthday and it kept both of the kids busy for HOURS. They didn't want to go to bed because they were still playing with the ship. Also, my 10.5-year-old daughter did most of the set up. She was able to follow the instructions without a hitch; I know younger children would not have the attention span and fine motor skills to do all of the constructing.

This is my son's first Playmobil set and it is a winner. He's already perusing the catalog to see what other pirate sets he wants!

PIRATE SHIP
THIS TOY IS CLASSIC! I FIRST GOT THIS SHIP WHEN I WAS 9. I'M 28 NOW, AND WOULD HAVE JUST AS MUCH FUN WITH IT NOW AS I DID THEN!! I PLAN ON BUILDING AND ENTIRE PIRATE KINGDOM VERY SOON. PLAYMOBILE IS TOPS IN MY BOOK. I WOULDNT REALLY RECOMMEND IT FOR KIDS, THOUGH, THEY MIGHT GET A CANNON BALL JAMMED UP THEIR NOSE OR SUMPTHIN'!!

Fragile Fun
Playmobil toys are wonderful, no question, but the more elaborate they are, the more problematic. This ship is gorgeous and has great detail, including real string rigging. This toy took forever to assemble, especially that pesky rigging, with the usually excellent insrtuctions falling short. After about a day of playing, my two boys had dismantled the ship enough that it wasn't fun anymore, and after three days I could no longer get all the parts back together. It is now a somewhat expensive box filler. The other Playmobil Pirate sets are still much loved, and have been conscripted on the nearly invincible Good Ship Fisher-Price.

A fun, imaginative toy.
My son has played with this toy constantly since he received it a month ago. This is a quality toy with amazing detail! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lego is outdoing themselves...
So...I dont have $1M for the real thing, and since I love Legos, this is the next best thing!I built the 'Model Team' sets as a kid, which are the sets geared toward realism more than functionality; but Lego doesn't really make the line anymore. However, this would be a Model Team set if there were such a thing. For a Lego set, this Enzo looks as much like the real thing as it can and it holds together really well.I actually bought 2 so I could build both models. This is an excellent addition to the Lego Ferrari collection.

Total piece of crap
What a piece of crap this "toy" is. My son is soooo not into this. He's 20 months and hasn't been interested for the last 10 months. Do NOT waste your money.

Great toy!!
My daughter is 11 months & she absolutely loves playing with this toy. I showed her how to put the block in the giraffe & she's got the hang of it. Sometimes she gets frustrated when the giraffe falls over, but once you set it back up, she's happy again.

Tippy Giraffe
This toy is too narrow and tips over all the time. My daughter lost interest with it (even when she was 9 months old) when it fell over. I have tried bringing it out again now that she is older, but she still doesn't like the giraffe. I would suggest a different block toy like the elephant that has a "chute" in the head that blocks can drop through.

Get the wagon instead
We have the peek-a-blocks wagon which my son just adores. I was on the look-out for another hit toy and was seduced by the cuteness of the giraffe. My 8 month old son obviously thinks it is very lame--he doesn't even give it a passing glance. It is very unstable and uninteresting. Get the wagon instead and save your cash!

Excellent toy!
Our 11 month old son still loves this toy. He has figured out how to put the blocks in as well as how to poke his finger in and push the button that starts the music :) Thats gotta be educational! ... Read more

Editorial Review

This is one of those toys that proves they really do make them like they used to. The level of detail in this airport terminal is astonishing; from the "touristy" clothes of the passengers and the telescope on the observation deck to the luggage carousel that really works and the authentically institutional-looking chairs, this terminal has the unmistakable feeling of reality. More importantly, it offers almost infinite scenarios for imaginative play. One drawback, and it may be an important one for some parents, is that the required assembly is complex and time-consuming. If assembly were a fun child/parent activity, that would be one thing, but the level of assembly required seems more like it should have been completed in the factory, but has been transferred to the consumer as a cost-saving measure.--David Stoesz ... Finaley an Airport
I have been playing with Playmobil since before I can remember. I can not remember not having playmobil around the house. Now that I am older I have small displays around the house. I feel that in the past few years Playmobil has come around. They are making sets that I wished I had when I was a child. I now own every piece of airport that they make. I even own the new RC Tour Bus that just came out. I love the air port. I feel that it is one of the best sets sence the Circus. People say that it takes a long time to assemble. I know for fact that it does not. My 5 year old can have it entirley built in 15 min. This is including the Gate Extensions. It is sturdy and well built. It provides hours of play. I even catch my self playing with it when my son is not around. The set is realistic and has plenty of room for imagination. The only regreat I have about this set is that they took the World Trade center out of the city sky line. Towere made this toy much more of a memorial to 9-11 than with out. I reconmend this toy to any way in the age limit, even to those of you who think that playing with toys is childish. It will bring out qualiteys that you did not know you had.

jakesmom
My 31/2 year old son loves this toy. He also got the playmobile plane and ground crew and plays with all three. My biggest complaints are 1) it took about 5 hours to put together and 2) when my son plays with the elevator and doors, etc. they tend to pop off and I am forever putting it back together. Other than that, he loves to incorporate his new cars into the "game" and pretends that people are driving to the airport. Great game for the imagination!

Lots of Fun!
My parents bought this, along with the jet liner, for my 5 1/2 year old son for Christmas this year because he had saw it on TV and that was all he repeatedly asked for. He loves it. It is a well built quality toy. I read all the reviews before letting them purchase it and was prepared for a lengthly assembly process. I was surprised at how many pieces were to be assembled for the air terminal, but my husband had it together in about 1 1/2 hours. My recommendation for assembly is to lay out all the pieces so they are easy to locate and that will save some time. The detailed pieces are extraordinary. My son loves pretending people are coming and going to different places and having to send their luggage through the baggage area. He plays with it on a daily basis. He loves so much he has taken it to different grandparents' houses over the holidays, but it is not a piece that travels well. Relocating as often as he would like has proven not to be a good idea. Some of the pieces like the ramps into the terminal and the tower pieces come off easily when trying to transport to Grandma's house, so we have decided to leave this toy at home (much to his regret). I would not recommend this toy to kids under 5 or to kids that who tend to be destructive players. For kids who have an active imagination and love to pretend I think it's a winner. I plan to buy more Playmobil toys for my son.

Great for the RIGHT kid
I agree that if I was a kid again, I would love this toy. For my 5-year-old son, however, who is an aircraft fanatic, we thought this would be ideal. But I think this toy's high concept is perhaps overwrought, frankly, maybe too concrete. A more abstract version would probably be more fun. It also falls apart a lot. The seats come off, the railings fall down, the computer won't stay on the desk, the "safety shields" come off, etc. My hubby and I sat down late Christmas eve to "set out the new toys," and needless to say, had a late night of it assembling this (we had NO IDEA what was ahead of us,) but that part was fun (though I agree about the silly little flowers!) I do think over time, this will be a lot more fun. We have put it away for use later. Great for a child who loves intricate little details - not for a big mover.

Excellent toy, incredible detail, not for the very young
My just 7 year old son recently purchased the larger airport (#3615) after saving for a VERY long time. It took about three and a half hours to assemble it with my helping him for about one of those hours and at a few points in between. He finds the assembly as enjoyable as playing with the set and as long as I help him when he gets stuck, it's just a puzzle. For those who complained about how long it took, it's not THAT hard, and consider what it would cost if it came fully assembled! I'm just completely amazed and in appreciation of the kind of detail thats put into Playmobil toys. They are very realistic and up-to-date, right down to the electronic check in, the flower pots, and the security guard with the wand.

I would definitely not recommend this (or Playmobil in general) for most children under 5. It usually takes a child at least that old to appreciate and take care of the wonderful detail of the whole setup. I wouldn't let an 18 month or 3 year old (as mentioned in other reviews) near something like this anymore than I'd give a child that age my digital camera to play with. However, my 7 year old can handle both quite responsibly. ... Read more

It's a great toy!
My son Logan (7) says:
Its a great toy. It has a place for the pirates to sleep, shelter, etc. I use it with my other Imaignext sets for battles. It stays set up in my room for days! I recommend this toy!

We had to buy TWO!!!!
The kids went CRAZY over this one! First the hole in the sand! HOW cool!! All the animals fit, the guys, treasure, or even just the swords and stuff! A great idea! We also like the Tiki hut roof and the log walls, sand floors are really cool and the palm tree rocks!

Our creative kids created two sand islands with the sets (Pirate ship added for more walls and floors, and the Nautical 'shipwreck' feel) and then made a big tree with the Lost Fortress... Know what they played? SURVIVOR!!! The tree is Tribal Council, "the tribe has spoken." LOL! Tooo fun!

Worthy of the price and lots of things to change this one into! Great idea!!!

Lots of fuel for the imagination
My 3 year old loves his pirate island. There is a place for buried treasure, working canons (which are made not to cause injuries), fallen trees and lots of little accessories. Although he is not old enough, the island has the capability to be arranged and built in many different ways. Plenty of potential to grow into it for many years.

kids love these, especially the "fantasy" types
My son has played with these toys since he was 4 --- he has acquired about seven different sets from the Imaginext line -(pirates, lost fortress, castles) -- yea relatives! as well as various extra guys (available at Wal-mart) and he shows absolutely no sign of slowing down on play with them (he's 6) -- he has other toys, natch, but plays with these daily. The other kids love them as well, especially as they tie into the child's love of knights, pirates, lord of the tings, and robin hood. EXCELLENT for creative play, as the sets can mix and match and be configured in unique constructions. Durable (NOTHING broken yet), loaded with little extras, great value -- buy them all for a truly thrilled and absorbed child.

Imaginext building system is great!!
I don't know why the previous reviewer submitted a review---he doesn't own the toy, has never seen it, yet he submits a review?!! Amazon...you should remove that review since it doesn't accurately reflect the toy's value.
We, on the other hand, DO own this toy and my 4 year old son absolutely loves it!!! He often combines it with the other Imaginext products and creates a different toy each time. The wonderful thing about Imaginext is the freedom it provides to create an endless possibility of ideas. One day he might construct each system according to the "plan" provided. Another day he might combine the construction pieces with the castle and forest pieces, creating large fortresses and towers. His imagination soars when he plays with these toys and he seems to never tire of them. I would highly recommend Imaginext toys for any child. I only wish they would produce a line that was geared toward girls---maybe a fairytale castle or enchanted forest? ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars discouraging
I bought my 4 1/2 year old this set for Christmas. I noticed that time after time he was getting very frustrated trying to build from the diagrams that came with the tinker toys (Junior set). He always came up a few parts short to build the Space Alien and just about all the rest of the examples. At first I thought he had managed to lose a part or two during the Christmas unwrapping, playing on Christmas day. I then took the canister and took an inventory of the parts shown on it and to my amazement all the parts were there. I then started counting the parts necessary to build each of the items on the example sheet and it became apparent that no one could build these examples (or at least most of them) as the examples were showing more parts than was provided by the Junior set. It has been a totally bad experience with this toy and I don't even try to get him to play with it anymore.

Oddz On and Hasbro should be ashamed of themselves for tricking these children into thinking they can build the examples. It is these two companies that are not playing with a full deck!

I like this for my older kids :)
I bought this set when my girls were smaller (around 3), and they never played with it. It was hard for them to put the pieces together and just became another annoying toy with a thousand pieces. I was disappointed as I loved them as a kid. However, now that the older ones are 6 and 8, they are asking for them. I am sure now they will have lots of fun putting them together and will understand the concept and can clean up the toys themselves also. Just thought another review might help if you have younger children :)

An Old Toy for a New World
We love this toy. We wish we had more pieces, not because there aren't enough to follow the instructions, but because you're inspired to keep building when you're playing with it. My four- and eight-year-old kids are equally thrilled with it. In fact, the last thing we want to do is follow instructions! A great toy for the mad visionaries in your house.

Regarding Missing Parts
I just read the review saying that the diagrams included with the set couldn't be created because the set did not include all parts. Just to set the record straight, I have personally constructed EVERY one of the diagrams (including the space alien), and ALL parts were indeed included.

My only complaint would be that it is often difficult to see from the pictures which parts to use in where, but that is certainly not a complaint with the toy itself.

Anyway, it's a great toy, and again, it has all the pieces necessary to complete all of the various creations shown for this set.

This is a great toy.
We got my son this set last Christmas when he was 3 1/2y.o and he plays with this all the time still. It's great if your kid likes to build. This is the one toy of his that has sustained the test of time - it is constantly all over our family room. The only down side is that we are constantly cleaning them up. Kids seem to love to pour them all out. He can make more complicated things then we can now. ... Read more

Avast, me hearties! Captain Bones of the Phantom Pirates dares you to try finding his stolen loot buried deep within the eerily glowing Phantom Island. But beware! Sinister traps await! Grandma from NM
Got this for my grandson who's very hard to buy for. He was so excited about this set and works with it all the time. He's asked his parents to buy him the additional pieces so he can construct bigger things. Great item!

so fun, they'll never know it's "educational"
I've always been fascinated by geometric shapes and
symmetry, so the Zome System was right up my alley.
I bought it for a big kid--me!
I also recommend getting the book "Zome Geometry",
which provides exercises, directions, and "challenges"
to really get you experimenting and thinking
analytically. Apparently Amazon only offers the
Pioneer Kit, and I noticed many reviewers suggesting
the purchase of multiple kits. Hopefully, Amazon (Toys
R Us) will start offering some of the larger kits;
beyond the Pioneer kit (121 pieces), you can also find
the 242-piece Adventurer kit, all the way up to the
1308-piece Advanced Math Kit (which also includes
advanced "green" struts for constructing truly fantastic
shapes).

Zome allows you to build an endless variety of figures:
pyramids, cubes, prisms, dodecahedrons (12-sided ball),
and far beyond--whatever your imagination comes up with,
while giving you the chance to learn geometry in a
"hands-on" way.

I highly recommend this "toy" for kids, teachers, or
anyone fascinated with geometric figures.

A very good toy!
I have a Zome set myself and have enjoyed it very much. It isn't a "one-design" kit like some I've seen. It's much more fun when you aren't restricted to only one object to make. Some advice: a larger set can make something so large that kids can fit inside...

An EXCELLENT Toy - for kids and grown-ups!
We got this kit for our son, the Lego freak! He's HOOKED ON ZOME!!! We can't wait to get additional kits and build even bigger and cooler things. I highly recommend this for anyone and everyone -- solo or family fun. ALL THUMBS UP!

5-0 out of 5 stars awsome "toy"
This is the kind of toy you steal from your kids. It's incredibly absorbing. I've seen chemists make fantastically elaborate models with this stuff. More interesting than Lego. You'll want to get more than one set to make bigger models. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars huge model for a small price
The aircraft carrier is a really nice model. My favorite thing about it is its size. It is huge! What I also like is its small price. Compared to models from LEGO, this one is much more affordable. Overall it is a great buy.

3-0 out of 5 stars A decent product
My six year old son loves construction toys and the Mega Bloks ProBuilder Series is one of his favorites.I've been disappointed, however, by how often he notes that "the Mega Bloks are the ones that don't stick together very well."Given the fact that we purchased a large number of the kits at closeout sales this isn't a problem, they're not expensive.

However, If I consider the amount of time he spends playing with these types of toys (both Lego and Mega Bloks), the pleasure he gets from them, and the the educational value, then I can easily justify the additional cost of Legos.

Bottom line:Mega Bloks are okay, but the Legos are a much better value.

4-0 out of 5 stars Full steam ahead
After scoring a direct hit with their first Pro Builder aircraft carrier model (The USS Kitty Hawk, available at www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004TRZY) in, I didn't think Mega Bloks would be able to improve on it. But improve on it they did with the USS Nimitz set, which features even more realism and greater detail than its predecessor. It's still a bit "blocky"-looking in many places, though, even with new-and-improved, more-realistically-molded parts such as anchors, most of the bridge tower, and those antenna-lookin' things sticking outta the sides of the vessel's bow (just what the #ell are those things called, anyway???).

Another good improvement is the set of flight deck elevators. Unlike the Kitty Hawk Mega Bloks toy, all of the elevators on this bad-boy stay level and flush with the flight deck, and slide up from and down to the maintenance deck without too much trouble. Unfortunately, the Nimitz had one particularly frustrating carry-over problem from the Kitty Hawk toy: the deck plate pieces were loath to stay flush with one another, where no one plate was higher or lower than the other.

Although a few other folks have stated that Mega Bloks don't seem to adhere to each other as well as Legos do, I didn't encounter any difficulty with the finished product keeping itself together, except for some of the more weakly-anchored bits on the ship's deck (directional 'lights', thrust backwash flaps, etc.). My real problem was getting the blocks together- you really gotta push 'em in to get them to mesh!

It took us about three and a half hours to put this one together. Almost ashame to put it to use. Almost. Once Christened, we immediately launched it into the shallow end, where it instantly took on a starboard list. To make things more interesting, we coated the deck with hurricane lamp oil before launching....he he. Once in the water, we fired it up. It took a long time for the whole ship to become engulfed. We were surprised. The deck almost liquified as the conning tower sunk into it. Once the deck was compromised, that was all she wrote. It instantly started taking on water and sank while STILL burning. HOW COOL IS THAT???? It even made it to the bottom with flames still visible. UNBELIEVABLE!!! We gave it five stars for fun for being a cool AMERICAN war ship, and putting on such a great show. We also gave five stars for value because you just can't hardly find entertainment like this anymore. ... Read more

Good for very young children
I purchased these for the young (under one year) daughter of an acquaintance. They are an unusually good set of blocks, being soft, multicolored, and with varying designs. Some have peek-a-boo windows and doors, and some have rattles inside. The only possible drawback is that the "windows and doors" could become torn lose with extended use, but they are a good value and would be expected to last as a young baby grows. They come in a convenient zippered storage case which has some baby features. I would rate these as a "best buy" for young babies.

I like these
These blocks were atractive to me because they were soft and large for little hands. So I purchased a set for my 10 month old, she seems to like them just fine. They are not her favorite toy, but she enjoys knocking them over and watching me reassemble little structures. She also enjoys tossing them around which is entertaining for both of us! My favorite aspect is the small amout of space they take up when put away in the pouch they come in.

4-0 out of 5 stars nice toy
I purchased these for my 5 month old daughter. They are wonderful. The only problem is they are a little big for small hands to hold on to. Also they could be a little softer. All in all she loves the colors and noises. I feel they are a good value for the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars good first blocks
My son really likes these blocks. They are interesting and easy for him to hold & play with. Blocks make different sounds (crinkling, etc.) which are interesting for him. Best of all, he likes to knock down things we build with them. They were a bit pricy, but I'm glad a bought them. ... Read more

A break-out wall!!!
We are really excited about this addition to the set - the castle itself has some nice design points like the stairs to the trap door, the claw on the string to grab people (Use your imagination heavily with this, it doesn't wind to pull back), the codor/eagle that shoots, and the BREAK OUT DOOR! Our two older kids, 10 & 11, had to 'discuss' who would get the important door feature, really a favorite for our archtects. Our toddler likes using the bird to fire at stacks of the guys like target practice and the 2nd grader likes to put the leftovers with other pieces to make different looking castles. The blue stonework for the new stuff is a really nice touch.

We are medievil fans and LOVE this stuff - HUZZAH!! ... Read more
