Editorial Review

Combining all the excitement of a standard radio controlled vehicle with the unique staircase acumen of a Slinky, this Tarantula goes where most other cars could never hope to go. It's equipped with large moving arms covered in rubber treads where other vehicles would place wheels and as such, the Tarantula can climb stairs or simply step over objects that get in its way.A wireless remote guides the bright red Tarantula, which operates on a frequency of 49 MHz. It's powered by one 9-volt and one 9.6-volt nickel-cadmium battery, neither of which, unfortunately, are included in the box. Once we got the hang of working the controls, we were impressed by the Tarantula's capabilities, as it was able to capably perform plenty of challenging tasks as advertised. --Charlie Williams ... Another neat trick by Mattel
Mattel has done it again. This is - just like the Batjet, Batcycles, and Batcopter realeased over the past year, a great addition to any Batman collection. This Batmobile is based on the version used by Batman in the more recent comics. I've always wanted to buy a toy/model based on it, and Mattel has met my need.
Scope and scale aside, this Batmobile is the best one to drive into the Batcave playset. I really like how Mattel has utilized the Batman license, and spread it throughout the company's many brands: Batman, Justice League, Hot Wheels, and Tyco R/C. Mattel has jazzed up Batman in exciting ways that Hasbro failed to do.

The Batman Has arrived--and he's in the Batmobile!
This toy is very fun! It is the first remote control vehicle I have had since I was a kid. I love collecting Batman items. And what a great way to also get into R/C's as well. This Batmobile has great handeling & speed, I must say I was very happy with the speed, this wasn't some slow kiddie toy. It really gets up & goes. It also was great going down stairs. My little girls had a wonderful time chasing the Batmoblie. I think anyone who buys this item will be very thrilled. Besides if my gils continue to chase the car every day, then perhaps they'll get to bed earlier at night then I can finaly get some sleep. What a bargin, a fun toy & tired children! ... Read more

magnificent
it was so awesome because u cood flip it and dit still is strong and sturdy it is the most coolest radio conrtol car ever!(;0)

Awsome
after reading all of these reviews i went and purchased this myself, this car is amazing,i also recommend goin to ur local radion shack and getting a 7.2 mah 2000 or 3000 because the battery it comes with is junk, some people gave it a lower durability score because the paint chips, if u consider that a problem with the car then i think your in the wrong hobby. great car

the fastest electric car you will ever see
I bought the super evolution ford gt,the car is real fast it says up to 20 mph but it looks like its more,my tires are already wasting, they look like slicks already, and my body is dirty and scratched,I want to know where I can buy more parts like tires some rims and the body,I dont know if the body is 190mm or 200mm

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
it's so fast if you take off the body it goes much faster. so if your not happy with it's speed with the body on take it off then it can go off road

HAD TO SEE FOR MYSELF.
I read all the previous posts before I was convinced to buy mine. AND LET ME TELL YOU THAT THESE GUYS ARE NOT LYING. This car is great for those who are in the pre-nitro(gas powered) area. Great stepping stone/trainer. The speed of this car is sweet I raced it against my other Nikko Mustang GT with a 9.6v battery and if was like a the rabbit who raced the hare. I too will be buying new tires, motor and battery. All I can say in closing is BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT!BUY IT! ... Read more

Someone figured out a way to shrink a Lincoln Navigator down to fit into a box then added a real FM radio for you. Nearly everything works on this incredibly detailed radio controlled vehicle. The hood opens to let you check out the engine, front doors work giving you an inside look of all the interior details, headlights shine, brake lights flash, left and right turn signals operate, and even the rear door comes up to reveal a functional FM radio. Even the sounds are realistic. You can hear the engine rev or brakes screech to a sudden stop while playing your favorite FM station the entire time. The controller gives you a full range of motion while also letting you work the horn, turn on the lights, put on the automatic locks, or shift into 3 different speeds (slow to fast). All the batteries you need are included. --Chip Quinn ... Read more

Best electric car
This car is the best electric car if you want to be a racer. I have this car and I put on HPI rims and radial tires. It is 26mm tires. I am going to put on a modified engine and ball bearings. Stock, this car runs to 21mph. To upgrade you should get a 2000mah nicd 7.2v from radioshack. It brings it faster. The motor is capable of high rpm's. The body is a lexan body and is very durable. ... Read more

Driving our own tricked out Toyota Supra might be a little unattainable for some--but if we could shrink down to 1/10th of our regular size, this snazzy little remote-control number might be a perfectly acceptable substitute. And if you choose to get involved in such a contest, we suggest perhaps making it an obstacle course. Because while the Toyota travels fairly quickly, it features exceptionally responsive steering, able to move left and right, forward and back with tremendous ease. The Toyota is blue with a rear spoiler and tinted windows and requires a 9.6-volt battery pack and one 9-volt battery (included). --Charlie Williams ... Read more

Editorial Review

The beauty of this radio-controlled vehicle is that you assemble it yourself with snap-together pieces. The vehicle can be assembled in any number of different ways, including a dune buggy shape and a scorpion. The great thing about this is that, since you need to build it before you can play, it engages your child actively in the process. This is not the "Here I am now, entertain me" experience that you find with most toys. In the course of assembling the car, you (or your kid) will learn the rudiments of how a steering system works, since no matter how creative you want to get with the rest of the vehicle, the steering has to be hooked up properly for the thing to work. This dragster comes in two frequencies, 27 MHz and 49 MHz, so if you want to get two and race them, you can do so without the signals conflicting. Requires one 9-volt battery and eight AAs (also compatible with a 9.6-volt rechargeable battery system). --David Stoesz ... Read more

Not too much fun
I bought this for my 10 yr old grandson and he was completely lost putting a million pieces together. After 3 hours on the kitchen table we finally got it outside to run and it crashed into a million pieces. He left, I put the pieces back into the box and he hasn't touched it since. I'm not too impressed with this toy.

its pretty cool-
the dragster is fun to build, as well as the other 2 models and many other designes that you could think up and create. the steering is a very wide with the dragster model, but hey, if you're outside you have all the space you want to turn and race around. this toy's pieces are durable beyond demand, and after putting it together, it may break due to a hard crash, but the car can easily be snapped back together. pieces/motor/steering compatible with other sets ... Editorial Review

While most of us grown-ups spend our time on the road trying our best to avoid getting in accidents, the world of kids, and specifically the world of toys, operates on a very different set of principles. And as is evidenced by this highly energetic and inherently destructive radio controlled car, sometimes smashing into things with cars, provided no injuries are incurred, can really be a whole lot of fun. When the vehicle, operating on 27 MHz frequency, is slammed into a wall, dents appear at the points of impact on the hood, the roof, the door, and the rear. And fixing the damage is considerably easier than in the real world: it all snaps back into place at the touch of a button. We were impressed by the relative speed of the car, which can be controlled up to 60 feet away and were further impressed by how well the rebuild function worked. --Charlie Williams ... Read more

2 Sons Love It! NO CHARGER, One Compalint!!!!!!!
My boys are 4 and 2.5 and they think it is so much fun cracking it up and then fixing it. The 4 year old is who got it for his birthday. There is a button on the remote that you push to "fix it" The 2.5 doesn't understand how to get it to go where he wants with the remote but gets it going in some direction and it crashes so he has no complaint. The 4 year old can get it going in either direction as it is an easy to use remote. The purpose is to crash it so it is the perfect learn to drive a remote car if you ask me!
ONE COMPLAINT, they don't come with a charger (even though it says it does in the write up here). The box says that you can use a 9 volt for the remote and BUY a 6V rechargeable Battery and charger for the vehicle OR use 5 AA batteries for the vehicle. I figured 5 AA batteries no big deal we'll keep it. WELL, Run time is only 30 minutes before you need to replace the battery. I didn't see that part on the box when we got it and didn't know why it was dying 30 minutes after playing with it and then saw that part. So buying the charger and chargeable battery is a must and worth it so you don't go broke buying batteries. Which is an added cost to purchasing the item... If he didn't love it so it would've gone back to the store so we are off to get a rechargeable remote control car battery... I did call the company and they said as long as the voltage matches up another car charger and battery will work. I was told we should be able to get one for $15 which will save money in the long run.

Battery? What Battery?
I ordered the Regenerator and received it to find that the batterypack is not included and cannot even find it on AMAZON.com or even which one is needed. There was no indication that the battery was not included.

regenerator
It would be nice to know that you have to order the battery pack and charger for the Regenerator when you are placing an order, JC Penny has the charger and battery included with it. Now I have to go look for the charger & battery. Not Happy. The reason I ordered them on line was to stay away from all the long lines.

save your money!!!!
i purchased this toy for my son's birthday and at first it was really cool, he absolutely loved it. the batteries, it takes 5AA and 1 9 volt, drained in about 20 minutes. if you let the toy sit for about an hour then it will work again, but that doesn't go over real well with kids. the 6 volt battery with charger is NOT included with it, as stated in the description. and after reading another review on this (for the red one) the rechargeable battery isn't much better. at $60, this will be going back to the store. ... Editorial Review

This radio-controlled vehicle has three modes, transforming from a compact car to a racer of two different lengths with the press of a button on the remote. The hinged body automatically extends as the Rewinder moves forward and contracts into compact mode in reverse. Kids can also"rewind" the car in the middle of stunts, such as jumps or 360-degree spins, for more super-cool action. The 49 MHz radio control moves the car forward, reverse, left, or right and is comfortable for smaller hands to hold. Buttons are easy to engage; however, the vertical button commands for left and right turns are not the most intuitive. The Rewinder operates on one TMH FlexPak NiMH battery and one 9-volt battery (not included) and is rugged enough to stand up to rough adventures. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

TOO CRAZY !
My 7-yr.old son thought this looked very cool but in reality, it is so fast and out-of-control, so spinny, twisty nuts that he said "no thanks". And the fact that the battery pack costs 29.99 makes it just not worth it. We suggest the cool little remote-control cars...much easier to control and alot more fun.(Did not keep this item so we really don't know how durable it is-looked pretty tough though).

Looks nice, but not worth the (doubled) price
Okay, so it certainly looks cool, and my son is enthralled, but we just cannot justify any toy that requires a $30 battery pack.
Do _not_ purchase this toy without understanding that it requires you to also purchase a nontrivially expensive battery and charger...
Additionally, the charger and battery must be purchased together, so you can't buy one charger and extra batteries, but must buy the entire kit together (as of 12/03). Although the packaging indicates that the separate purchase is required, it is _very_ easy to miss. The ratings are: 1 star for fun (since he can't actually play with it), 5 stars for educational value (since we've since learned to do more research before purchasing), and 1 star for durability (since it didn't last a day before being returned).
For more tyco RC battery reviews, see "TMH Flexpack Battery and Charger".

A Rip Off!
My 7 year old burst into tears upon opening this gift. It requires a $30 custom battery which I did not know to purchase at the time I bought this item from Amazon for $39.95 (now priced at $24.95 just a few weeks later!). Not only wouldn't I buy this product I doubt I'll ever buy toys from Amazon again. ... Read more
