Editorial Review

Lots of games and activities are packed into this mini "laptop" that’s pure Barbie with its pink cover and pastel keyboard. The 6-by-3-inch electronic toy computer offers tons of games with a learning focus. There are eight different word activities (e.g., hangman, word scramble, spelling), five math activities (e.g., adding, subtracting, numerical ordering), four logic activities (e.g., pattern sequences, matching, memory), several music activities and games, and a handy calculator. Even better, this small, portable device can entertain a 5- to 10-year-old for hours and teach them something along the way. It will also give kids the chance to feel like a grownup working on the computer. This Barbie toy with substance will be a hit with the technically savvy younger set. --Jane Snyder ... Read more

Barbie laptop
My 4-year old received this as a gift last Christmas and absolutely loves it. Her favorites are the spelling games and the music maker. This toy can keep her entertained for hours, especially on long car trips. After a year, it's still one of her favorite toys.

Since Christmas...
I've only seem my daughter sit with this about 8 times since I gave it to her in Christmas (this was back in March). She'd rather take the Gameboy to a car trip than this.

I expected a slightly bigger laptop and better (funnier) and/or eye-catching activities. I think that for the price it's a rip-off, when I bought it the price was much higher. I started to play with it and wanted to turn it off after a few minutes. Me, also, would rather play with the Gameboy.

This is absolutely boring to me as a grown-up, imagine to a child. It is now Chistmas time again while cleaning my kids room I found this under the bed, my daughter checked it out for about 2 minutes and threw it inside the toybox, I can't blame her, poor thing.

Does math backwards
If you want your child to learn math correctly do NOT buy this toy. If you try to do a math problem vertically, the answer has to be input backward. For example if the equation is 5+5 your answer is 10 right? Not on this computer. You have to put the 0 first and then the 1, so any child who knows that 5+5=10, cannot input the answer as "10" the answer must be input on the keyboard as "01". This is a MAJOR flaw, did anyone at Oregon Scientific play with it before production began?

Fun toy with learning games
This toy, made by Oregon Scientific, is recommended for ages 5 years and up, but if your child hasn't begun to read yet, it might be difficult for them to find their way around the many different activities included in this "mini computer." What's good about this toy, is it's portability. Even thought the actual size is smaller than we imagined (actual size: 6.5" long x 3 3/4" wide when closed), children will like the small size. When you open the laptop, it's set up like a little computer and keyboard. The screen is small, just 3" wide x 1 1/2" high. The graphics are a bit simplistic, but most of the games do a good job of teaching something.

For example: the word game "hangman" is similar to the actual game -- one player keys in a word and the other player has to guess what it is. Maximum letters is five. Another word game has you taking a spelling quiz. Other activities include games (such as total sense), logic activities (such as concentration), tools (such as a calculator), math games, and music activities (children can make their own tunes and play them back). The typing tutor helps children learn the correct placement of their fingers on each key while typing. There's also a "hint" key and "answer" key for those who need it :).

MyParenTime.com recommends the "Barbie Fun on the Go Electronic Laptop" -- mostly for at home, in the car, or anywhere where your child doesn't have to worry about lowering the sound...because unfortunately, there is NO volume button! How they made a toy like this without a volume button is beyond me. It can get very annoying if an activity hasn't been chosen immediately. It comes with a booklet listing all the activities included (more available with extension card) - your child may feel overwhelmed at first, but once they've played with it for a while, they'll get used to finding their way around the screens. If your child gets tired of it, all they have to do is use the "off" key :). ... Read more

Don't Expect It To Work As Shown
First off, my son used this for a day, literally one day, the camera setting I knew he'd be thrilled with. I install the software and look at the photos, I know that there's not flash on this, but the images are horrible. I clear out the photos as it states on the instruction book and give it back to him. Later on he tells me that the camera part of the pda doesn't work anymore. I look through the book, see nothing regarding this matter. Could it be the batteries drained already? Not sure. Anyway, I try to program telephone numbers into the pda part, the bottom row with the space bar and delete button don't work. everything else works ok. So, I look in the book again, nothing showing this troubleshooting. I go to the front and back of the book, no tech support, not a thing to show what problems could be. I go to their website shown on the back of the package since of course there is no telephone number shown and a po box to show for the company on the packaging....the website doesn't show anything but email addresses as well. It doesn't even show any information on this product at ALL! Why send me to a website for an item if you don't even show your item on the site in the first place????

Needless to say this item is going to be exchanged if not returned! It stinks that it doesn't work at least partially well, my son loves these kinds of techie gadgets. ... Read more

Cross an electronic organizer, a cell phone, and a hand-held game caddy, and you have the Cybiko--the toy for Generation Y.Cybiko touts this hand-held unit as a "Wireless Inter-tainment System" for communicating (e-mail style)and playing video games--just what young, mobile, tech-minded kids are into these days. Thismultifunctional device offers wireless, high-frequency, digital connections to other Cybiko units within a range of 150 feet indoors to 300 feet outdoors.

Among the Cybiko's many functions: Users can chat wirelessly, play interactive games with friends orother Cybiko users, e-mail anyone on the Internet, and nurture the cyberpet, "CyLandia." The Cybiko alsohas a "Find a Friend" feature that can be utilized like personal classified ads. Tons of new games and internet software can be downloaded daily from Cybiko.com into the Cybiko unit. Also, it stores addresses, phone numbers, e-mails, and even offers a personal planner.

The Cybiko has a few minor limitations: It only downloads from personal computers, not Macintoshes; forinitial use, upgrading and "staying in the loop" depends on downloading vital information from Cybiko'sWeb site, including all Cybiko-compatible games; and users must plug into a hard drive to send and receivee-mails.

Included is one Cybiko unit, equipped with a stylus for keying tiny buttons; a rechargeable battery, an adapter for charging or plugging in; and an adapter cable for downloading to and from PCs. There's also adetailed user's manual to help with the initial programming. The Cybiko is 5.7 by 2.8 by .86 inches, weighsless than 5 ounces, and churns with a 32-bit, 11-MHz Hitachi main processor, and 512 KB of RAM. --Diane Beall ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Helper
I've had my Cybiko for about two weeks now, and it rocks!!! It can help you stayed organized, and do much more! I've known some grown-ups that have even purchased this item for orginization purposes! Lots of people say, "It limits you to a number of games and applications you can download" well, the amount of things it gives you is around 600 different downloads and their coming up with new ones every day! My friends are all getting one, so the communications will work. You can chat, email, and do lots of other stuff! I've known lots of people that say it's stupid, but they don't have one of their own! With a small, affordable adapter, you can connect it up to your Macintosh! If you have a windows, you don't even have to buy an adapter because it's included! My teachers at school don't mind me bringing it because I have an application called "Study Stools" where I can load all of my assignments for the day into my Cybiko! I also have a "Note Pad" where you can type things in and save them! Then, you can transfer them onto your "Big Computer" and print it out! Over 600 applications and games to choose of! This toy is very fun and useful, so please note that this is a great thing for you or your child!

Good for Electronics Projects
I bought 5 of this for my electronic projects and these work great. Just 1 of 5 had dead batteries.

I have one connected to my caller id box and when anyone calls me I can see his/her phone number and name on other cybikos located in different places in my house and receive, by mean of my TINI module connected to cybiko and internet, a SMS in my cellular phone.

I have another one connected to a network of temperature sensors located around my house and the temperatures can be seen on any cybiko.

Finally I have one connected to my TINI module and all this information can be seen from the internet.

Great purchase for electronics hobbiests. ... Read more

Having trouble keeping track of homework assignments, phone numbers, dates, e-mail addresses, or even the square root of pi? This junior PDA (personal digital assistant) holds the solution to all your organizing woes! Not only that, but a "smartcard" (included) allows players to exchange secret messages with other users of the Message Organizer. Figuring out all the functions of the hand-held is fairly intuitive, and the instructions are simple to follow. Players touch the screen with the stylus to select different modes of operation, which include a password lock function, phone book, schedule, calculator, games, time and date, alarm clock, and language selection. To use the secret message card, players plug the card into the unit and follow the prompts to write or receive messages from buddies. Staying on top of homework and appointments has never been so much fun! (Batteries included) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

Silly PDA!
One day my family had a tornement to see who was the best at foose ball. I won but I got 2 prizes. One was the rinkiedadink PDA. I set up every thing on it. But I forgot my password so I had to entiarly restet it. (By the way, the password can only be
4 charectors long) The games are first entertaining but get boring. The shooting one is to hard, and the other two make no
sence at all. There is realy no program that holds homework, and the date is confusing! This toy is better for people who are fasinated by anything. It's still cool!

COol
I am a Freshman and all the pda's out there are so expensive and annoying to navigate through different modes. This thing was very simple and fun. I put the educational value on there because it has an alarm clock so kids aren't late for school, so it helps them get up to get their education haha. It has a calculator though. This is awesome for kids in highschool too because we can share messages and stuff. I reccomend this toy to everyone but the age should really be 8 and up at the youngest

Awesome Toy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that this organizer is the best organizer that I have ever seen! I really like it because of the fact that it allows you to send messages to your friends who have an I Hand Secret Message Organizer. Also, it seems as if it has a lot of memory and a lot of stuff to do on it. I can't wait for it to come out in stores because I am dying to have one!!!!!!!!! I hope when I ask my dad to buy me it, I really hope he says yes!!!!!!!!!

I Love This Toy
The I Hand is the best I wasn't organized but now that I got it I'm organized. The e brain is wack don't buy it and waste your money. But the I Hand is great buy it. Trust Me It's Worth your siblings education

IT BROKE IN 2 HOURS
I bought this for my child and it stopped working within 2 hours. The PDA started making a high pitched sound and it would freeze up. Nothing, not the reset button or changing batteries, would help. By the way, it uses two button batteries which are expensive to buy. ... Read more
