Editorial Review

Many high-tech toys start with a fun and fascinating idea only to make it frustratingly complicated in the execution. Leave it to LEGO to make a technologically advanced toy fun to play with. The enormous 718-piece LEGO Mindstorms Robotic Invention System lets you construct a variety of moving robot vehicles and then program them from your Windows 98- or Windows Me-compatible computer. The robots are all based around a bright yellow basic unit, which serves as the functional heart of whatever is being built. The brick receives commands from the computer via an infrared tower unit. The computer interface is incredibly user-friendly and intuitive. What's most impressive about the system, however, is the variety of robots that can be built. There are detailed instructions for each one, and since these are LEGOs, builders are free to come up with an endless variety. --John Moe ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Toy I have Played with in 40 Years
This system is phenominal. We own version 1.5, purchased a year ago and we have not put it down. And trust me, this is not for kids only. I only wish there was something around like this when I was 12 - I was stuck with Robbbie the Robot replicas.
When my son opened it for Christmas, we knew it would be a big hit. We have spend uncountless hours working on this together (quality, quality time) and the problem solving skills he has gained have put him in a position that he can now program a computer in Visual Basic at 12 years. (Not that this system teaches you VB, but it sure teaches you logic and structure, necessities for any program language)
We have since bought all the expansion kits, a few books and have built robots capable of some unbelievable feats.
Keep in mind that older Technic sets work well with these sets as well as many of the other Lego sets you have.
I would recommend this set to anyone, especially those who longed for a real robot as a child, not a "flashing lights only" Robbie.

Best think ever
I have this toy for more then a yeat and it still is fun,i keep making stuff i even made a robotic hand, this is the best thing ever well what are you wating for buy it!!!

Beware of software incompatibilty
Unless you have Windows 98 or Windows ME, it may not work (who knows -- you may get lucky). I refuse to use either of these operating systems, which I consider wretched. The Mindstorm official FAQ says it was tested only on those 2 operating systems. For those who can get it to work, apparently it's a great product.

Great Product, but IR Tower has problems w/certain computer
Great Product - but like another reviewer, I had the same issues with the IR Tower and XP. Non of the Lego Support Documents were of much use, but using an older PC with Windows 98 did the trick.

A MUST!!!!!
I am an engineering student and we use these in our robotics lab. Adults with an interest in programming can use java or C to program, children can use the included software. The software is an easy to use visual drag and drop type software. I would recommend every parent to purchase this toy. It allows the kids to learn the basics of programming and see the immediate results when the program is downloaded to the robot. My 9 year old daughter never lost interest in my assignments. This is one of the best learning toys I have ever seen. I am planning on purchasing on for myself to use with my daughter (lots of little parts, messy children will need some supervision or most of the robot will be in the vacuum). Children between 7-12 will enjoy the product, with alot of assistance from parent, over 12 should have no trouble at all with it. Excellent for education, and a lot of fun for a parent - child activity. ... Read more

Outfitted in orange and purple, this electronic learning system for preschoolers plugs directly into a television, and at first take looks a lot like a video-game console. Insert any of Vtech's "Smartridges" into the unit for lessons on language, math, phonics, problem-solving, music, and more. Children can choose between two difficulty levels. Included are a large joystick, adjustable to right- and left-handed kids, and an Alphabet Park Adventure cartridge; other cartridges are sold separately. There's also a storage compartment on top that holds up to six cartridges. The system can run on either three C batteries or an AC adaptor; strangely, neither are included. --Andy Boynton ... 5-0 out of 5 stars your gonna need batteries
the ac adapter is extra, and the unit runs on 3 c batteries! otherwise it is perfect for the school age child...the controller and joy stick is large enough for small hands.. the games may requier parental help at first, but they are quickly kids love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars little kid friendly!
my 2 boys (ages 3 & $) received this as a gift and they are fascinated by it. I did find the additional control at Target and bought it along with the SpiderMan cartridge. It is fairly easy to use and very kid friendly for tough little boys who like to use their feet and hands! The cartridges are by age and the levels are very easy. Once they master one level they can move up to more difficult levels. What I really like about this toy is that it is educational and not violent like most of the other video games out in the market today. I like it so much, I'm giving it to several on my gift list for the Holidays. Another retailer (online) is $10 cheaper but you have to pay shipping.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not impressed
I have two boys, 3 and 4 years old. We also have many video game systems, XBox and Playstations 1 and 2, I was originally going to get the boys a used Super Nintendo, but I saw V.Smile and thought it was more created for their ages and less likely to end up broken as quickly as any other console.
I was upset that the 9 Volt adapter didn't come with the system, I actually think it is because V.Tech is a "rookie" when it comes to game systems like this.We expect to have to buy another remote, like all other game systems make you do, but most game consoles come with the accesories needed to make it run properly. It is designed to be a learning video game system for Preschool age to age 8, but I couldn't imagine a normal 8 year old or 7 year old enjoying it as much as other game systems.
I also was upset and returned the first I got, because the learning system would shut off and I would play with the batteries replace the batteries and blow in the game and game slot, I noticed sometimes the game would come on even though I pulled it out and it would make my TV screen all disarray. I exchanged it for another and the new one does the same thing. VTech should be more on top of things. I even called the company at 1-800-521-2010 to ask if they have had many complaints. I do not know why VTech would sell the V.Smile without the adapter if it doesn't work properly alone on 3 C batteries. A parent should not have to go in there every 5 minutes or everytime the child changes games. If it is designed to run mostly on an adapter it should say so and include this feature with their product. I do not think it is worth the price, and hassle, but its okay as far as the activitie sthe games play.
All I know is if you think you are going to get your kids to leave you alone for a minute while they play, then you are mistaken, lots of "mommy come help me" because the game has shut off. Even my husband who can fix anything gets annoyed when he plays with it for a while. One of these days, probably after their 90 day warranty expires, the system will probably shut off and never turn back on. Other then that, it is OK, my kids love it, and the games are nice because they are made similar to the Nintendo games, that won't break or scratch like a CD.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but.......
The system is great, but......
The extra controller is no where to be found! IT IS NOT AVAILABLE through V-Tech even though the customer service rep said they had 1000's in the warehouse. They can't sell me one because they have no way to take payment.
Try explaining that to twin 4 year olds who argue over the controller and whose turn it is. The adapter was also very hard to find.
Why would a company even consider merchandising something as awesome as this before making all the necessary items readily available? If you have as much trouble as I did locating the adapter, buy yourself a ton of batteries!

5-0 out of 5 stars extra controller
I haven't actually used this product yet (with the exception of the display in the toy store....loved it!), but I did stumble upon an extra controller in Target. I grabbed it up because I haven't seen it sold anywhere else (and it was the only one on the shelf) and I knew if I waited, chances are I wouldn't get my hands on one until January. ... Read more

This durable little unit packs in a lot of functions, all of them eminently kid-friendly. Most basically, it’s a tape player that can be easily operated with big, colorful buttons, but it’s also a kind of karaoke machine, letting kids use the included microphone to sing along with the music, or sing a cappella. As if that wasn’t enough, there are multiple settings to warp your voice to sound like a monster, robot, bunny, or Martian. You might have to use your imagination to hear how some of the settings sound like what they’re supposed to (and what does a bunny sound like anyway?), but once you start experimenting with Voice Warp, it’s addictive fun even if you’re a big person. Don’t worry though, you can turn the filter off to hear your normal voice. --David Stoesz ... Read more

It's good for the kids to practice talking
I like the voice warper. It sounds great. I would recommend this product to anyone on the list.

Big Hit!!
This tape player takes a beating and keeps playing. My two year-old got it for Christmas and it has been a big hit. It is easy for little fingers to use and they love the "kareoke" effect of the microphone. She hasn't figured out the voice warping feature yet. I think this one will get years of use.

Great toy
My son got this for his 2nd birthday, he loves to play his tapes and sing a long. He loves the voice distortion option and has been playing with it regularly for the past year. No problems yet!

Durable and great to have
I gave this gift to my niece, who loves music, for her 3rd birthday. She has used more than I ever thought she would. She is really rough with it, but it seems to be lasting very well.

One thing I do for her is .. I buy cds, then I record them to tapes. We give her the tapes and let her mom have the cds; she can be as rough as she wants on the tapes and when they break ... we just record them again. Plus, her mom uses the cds in the car for trips.

My son is only a few months old, but I plan for this to be his first tape player.

fun for adults too!
My 2 year old son got this as a christmas gift and we all loved it! We had to break up several fist fights between people that wanted to play with it, not all children either. The one complaint is that it is hard to find tapes now, with the exception of Amazon. But I guess that isn't the tape players fault. Other than that it is too much fun. ... Read more

Great Batteries for a Great Price.
As much as I like the Engergizer Bunny, I think Rayovac is becoming my favorite brand of batteries. They last just as long as any of the other major brands (Engerizer, Duracel, etc) and are less expensive. Plus, Rayovac often has special packs you can buy giving you even more bang for your buck. In short, these are some great batteries for a great price.

Provides for days of usage with pocket games
No, not educational unless there are booklets that show how batteries are made! Durability, well, it is a battery, how durable does it need to be? Well, I'm pleased! I was able to provide batteries for one item I knew would need it and provide yet even more items that I did not count on receiving. Nor did I realize they would need batteries until I looked at the packages. Absolutely tickled they were offered automatically with my order, otherwise, I would not have made the purchase. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars It's like having a live friend
My daughter wanted to tell everyone how much she likes her Tamagotchi: I'm nine and I have two Tamagotchi. They are SO cool!! They eat, poop, play, can be praised or put in time out, get sick, have their lights turned off, and interact with each other. The best things about the interacting is that they can exchange gifts, compete in races, and get married. You will also find a friend list, that will show how much your Tamagotchi likes every other one it's met. It will hold up to 50 friends! You can have generations after generations, pick what names you want, and if it dies you can reset it. They even have a heartbeat.

One of my friends at school accidentally left hers in her pocket, and it went through the whole washing machine cycle....and STILL WORKS! Wow.

This all sound like it's going to take alot of training to work. But you only need 3 simple buttons to do all this. It also has a built in clock. They're the best!

5-0 out of 5 stars Why do kids like this?
At first my mother is like," Why are you going to get this Tamagotchi for? Everytime we buy you a new toy you play with it the first few days and then never ever play with it again." Well i promised her that i would play with it all the time and that I would take care of it just like a real pet. Also, I told my mother that I wanted a dog pet. My mom said that if I could prove with my tamagotchi that I could take care of my pet she will buy me a dog. So I got my Tamagotchi I was so excited! weeks and weeks passed and I enjoyed it Alot. My mom said that she had never seen me like a toy so much. I responded that to me MY Tamagotchi is like a pet and that I didn't want I dog no more I just wanted my Tamagotchi! Tamagotchi is my special digital pet. I hope just like I enjoyed my Tamagotchi named cutie You will enjoy it to You'll see the fun it is to have A TAMAGOTCHI!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great toy for 5 to 105
I just ordered this and it looks like it soldout already o_o-glad I ordered when I did.

Anyway back to the reveiw, I bought my first two when no one knew they were back. At the age of nineteen I have to say I really do love these little eggs. When I first started mine I waited for them to hatch and soon I could hear the beeping that called for care. Soon after I was hooked. My collection went from two to six.(Sorta of like potato chips aren't they)These little guys are fun for all ages and can be educational to younger children. Parents be warned your children will try to take these to school so be watchful.(trust me I did it during the first tam craze)Many children do not want to pause their pet but it does help to keep your kids out of trouble and not being upset with tama death. These also may help if your child keeps telling you they are ready for a pet. Instead get them a tamagotchi to show they can care for another creature before buying that GoldFish. These little eggs are pretty durable but the screen can be sratched easily so watch out. Wanna look into deep info what tamagotchis are like before buying? Go to Lots of info if you want to researh.

Also thanks for the fast shipping, my Pearlized Pink came just in time to become the future soul mate of my Pink with Stars
Admin and Mina in love soon:)

I'm 11 and i got my tamagotchi yesterday. Her name is A and she's lots o' fun. They grow a year everyday and my sister and I are having a contest for who can keep their tama alive the longest. It'sa lot easier and more fun than any other virtual pet I've ever tried. In fact I'm playing with her right now, plus connecting with my sis's is a blast.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of toy for the $$$
I bought 2 of these for my granddaughters, 6 and 9 years old. They didn't put them down for weeks! They treat them like their own little pets/babies...feed then, clean up their virtual "poop", put them to sleep...etc.They sleep with them on their nighttables in case the pets need them during the night. They've had them since Christmas (4 months now) and still, they are a big hit.Their friends have them and they "connect" them so they make lots of new pet friends. When they "die" and get their little "angel wings" their grief is short lived because a new BABY is born right away. I just purchased 2 more for them, so they can have 2 each now.Consider this a GREAT investment. By the way, they're selling on ebay now for $25-$30. Get them here while you can.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!!!!
Tamagotchis rule!!! This isn't a pretty color, but it doesn't matter. If you're bored, these are remedy! Even if you have a pet, you can take them to school if you turn the sound off. Now they're coming out with version 2! ... Read more

The Pixter is like a personal digital assistant (PDA) for kids. But instead of storing boring appointments and phone numbers, they get to draw, do puzzles, and learn a little, too. The Pixter is about the size of a small book, and has a pretty solid weight to it. It's made out of brightly colored and durable plastic. The main action of this toy is drawing with an attached stylus. The Color Pixter offers much better graphics then the black and white version, which comes in handy with activities like Paint-by-Numbers and Connect-the-Dots. You can draw a picture free form, or you can use one of the starter backgrounds. There are tool buttons, like on a PDA, that give you access to fun stamps, special effects, and the eraser button. You can also save your creation in the Pixter's memory. There are some boppy tunes playing along with all this creative activity, but luckily for parents, there's also a jack for headphones and a volume adjuster. An expansion slot on top of the Pixter accepts ROM-based expansion cards that contain additional software and games. Requires 4 "AA" batteries. (Not included.) --Megan Sullivan ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids really love this toy
My daughter was 3 1/2 when she first played with her 10 year old sister's B&W Pixter, and she loved it. So I got her the color Pixter, and she plays with it every day, especially in the car. There are educational games available for it, as well as entertainment games. It also plays all the older black and white games for the older versions of Pixter.

We bought this for our 4 year old because he's not quite old enough for Game Boy. We have already had to return it twice due to it malfunctioning within a short period of time. The first one, the stylus didn't work and the second one the stylus worked on only half the screen after a couple of weeks. For as much money as we spent, I had great expectations. The kids, 4-9 years, enjoyed it while it worked, it just didn't hold up very long. I'd spend my money else where.

Take Care
My kids love this toy!! But do be careful because it is needs to be well taken care of. I would not reccommend this to any child who just throws things down where they may.

worth every penny
My 4 year old is one of those kids who can't play with anything for more than 5 minutes, except the Pixter. It is the best toy I've ever bought for her, and we've tried everything (thanks to used toys and bargains...). I bought her the Pixter recently because I was pregnant and too tired to keep her busy. It is well designed, challenging but not frustrating, is adaptable to her growth and needs, etc.

Pixter Easily Broken
I got my daughter the Pixter Color. Her little sister dropped it on my oak floor a few hours after we opened up the box. Now only half the screen works. I know it was dropped, but kids drop stuff. There must be a way to make these things more breakage-resistant. Spending 80 dollars on a toy that worked just one afternoon is bad enough. Listening to my daughter sob all evening was worse. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game
The new Star Wars plug-in video game is awesome. There are five different games that are included: The Gunship Battle, Grievous Onslaught, Coruscant Attack, Droid Invasion, and Utapau Chase. You are wielding lightsabers deflecting blasts from droids in one game while you are piloting a Jedi starfighter launching an attack on Separatist battleships on another.

My favorite game is the Utapau Chase. I am Obi-Wan Kenobi tracking down General Grievous while being chased by enemy Bogas and avoiding turret gun fire. I can upgrade my blasters, armor my Boga, or acquire extra lives. This game combines the classic arcade game graphics with the versatility of a great video game. It is fast paced and fun. I would recommend this game to both Star Wars and video game fans alike.

It's cool because it brings back the old school gaming with a new school attitude to it.All you do is actually plug it in and play it.The game is all self explanatory and comes with instructions on how to play any of the five games in it.The five games are great, but I have to say the one I like the most is the Utapau Chase. Also another cool feature is that it saves your scores. The graphics and the gameplay are both smooth and i didnt find any bugs playing this game, like you normally would find.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny....
The games are fun for the most part and the controller is very comfortable. The space battle game reminds me of the 80's arcade game Bosconian (with much better graphics). All the games control perfectly with the analog stick (yes, it's a REAL analog) and the sound effects are sampled right from the films. My 3.2 year old son actually enjoys these games, but a couple are VERY hard (rescue Palpatine comes to mind). Overall, this is something I will never tire of, and for 20's a steal.

5-0 out of 5 stars 80's-style gaming with a modern edge!
As a 33-year old who has not yet commited to a game platform, this plug & play was a real treat. As it says in the title, it is 80's-style gaming with a modern edge.AND you can save the high scores!I found myself playing and enjoying it for hours. All 5 of the games included in this plug & play emulate a classic 80's arcade game, but incorporate characters and locations from the new trilogy of prequels. This is not a complaint, I thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of the toy, as did my 36-year old brother. (And 2-year old son.) You may find that you quickly master a few of these games, but the time spent getting there is well worth it.It is cool looking, has a great controller, and the games are challenging and well-designed, indeed. Enjoy! ... Read more

karaoke night for one
My daughter had a fun time with the Bratz karaoke machine. She will invite her girlfriend over and they will put on a show. Now that one of the microphone is broken. She now plays with it by herself or her little brother will be fighting for the one that works. (...)

Continuous entertainment for 8 year-old girl
We bought this for my daughter, Christmas 2003. It's now almost five months later, and we've had no problems with the machine.

While it's not perfect, it does have clear, acceptable sound quality, and works reliably. The built-in screen is a big plus, and the design is sort of cool, especially when you compare it to the usual ugly black & chrome box. Also good that it comes with two mics.

The main thing is that my 8 year-old daughter plays with it several times a week alone and with her friends. So far, nothing has broken (although I know the flimsy microphone holders will bust off one day).

Like many less expensive karaoke machines, singers need to get really close to the mics.

All-in-all, we're very pleased with this product so far. I enthusiastically recommend it!

splurge on this toy!
i bought this machine for my girls for Christmas,,,, but I have taken it out to be sure it worked and would be AWESOME for them. *IT COMES WITH TWO MICS* this is my favorite feature. none of the other karaoke machines i looked at had two microphones (which is an additional $30+).If you are NEW TO KARAOKE --research a little before buying ANY music to go with it. ONLY KARAOKE CD'S THAT SAY " CD+G" WILL SHOW THE WORDS ON YOUR KARAOKE SCREEN!!! just because a CD says "karaoke" does NOT mean it shows lyrics!this machine WILL play all CD's--but only those marked "CD+G" show the words... Hooking this up to my
TV was easy. so far, i am very pleased with my purchase--i think the kids will love it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars War, anyone?
The Advanced Mission takes this familiar game to a whole new level. Here is the list of the new weapons and tactics now at your disposal: 2 exocet missles fired from your aircraft carrier; 1 tomahawk missle with a massive footprint fired from your battleship; 2 apache missles fired from your destroyer; 2 torpedoes fired from your sub; two recon airplanes for surveillance; and sonar imaging from your sub! While the older version of this game had some strategy, it was still a mostly guessing game, but with the Advanced Mission you really have to plan your attack and keep track of your available assets. One hint: have your recon planes take off from the aircraft carrier ASAP to avoid them being destroyed if the ship gets sunk. If you play this game with some strategy in mind you will find yourself doing very little guessing, which makes this game much more interesting and NEVER boring!

Very cool...But mesy
I got this toy for Christmas from my grandmother. It is pretty complicated, so I do not really agree with the age ranges. My eight year old neighbor who lives across the street from me tried to play it, and in the process she got very confused after many times of explanation. It is extremely fun, but it is also extremely mesy. What can I say. I love this game and it is definalty worth all that money. Accualy, It is worth a lot more.

Could be fun if pegs fit better

This pretty much ruined the fun. Maybe I got a lemon (bad quality control?). If someone reads this, please tell me if their version did not have this problem. Otherwise I can't see putting my boy (and me) through the agony again.

Fun for the whole family
There is something about hearing the noise that tells you you've score a hit- call it a Pavlovian reponse, but it's lots of fun!! We're getting this for the second generation of recipients this Christmas.

Advanced Mission could be even better..........
I bought this game for my daughter. She has the old version but cheated too much. Of course I cheated too. Believe me, you would never find my patrol boat. I'd just keep moving it around.
Advance Mission puts an end to that. You have to program in your coordinates so it's impossible to cheat. This is a good thing.
Advanced Mission has four different games to be played:
The Classic Mission - each player gets one shot apiece regardless of hit or miss.
The Salvo Mission - each player gets one shot for every ship left unsunk. I really like this one.
The Bonus Mission - each player gets one shot unless they score a hit in which case they can continue on the same turn until they miss.
The Advanced Mission - each ship has special weapons and you have two recon planes, however if you use the recon planes I will defeat you. IMO the recon planes are a bit too much. Deploying them counts as a turn and you don't get to fire a weapon. I never deploy my recon planes. I have never lost, yet.

Another thing that sets this game apart is the ability to play the computer. You don't even need any friends to have a good old fashioned war at sea.
There are also 3 different skill levels to choose from. ...
Of course the game now has sound. You hear the weapons being fired and the explosions from hits.
All that being said I still see room for improvement. On the old battleship you could adjust the top grid for better visibility, much like you would a laptop. On Advanced Mission the top grid is fixed and depending on the lighting can be hard to see.
Unless you are sitting at eye level with direct lighting you will inevitably place a peg in the wrong grid resulting in frustration and possibly a failed mission.
The makers of Advanced Mission should have gone a step further by lighting the grids, at least the top grid. It wouldn't take much to accomplish. It would look really cool and certainly be easier on the eyeballs.
The other thing is the volume, which is relatively low...
Bottomline is it's a fine game but with a few improvements it would really be something. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Your Barbie fan can create home videos with the Barbie Wireless Video Camera. The frosted-pink camera, which comes with a detachable, handheld microphone; a tripod; a receiver unit; and a blank videotape, connects to your TV and VCR to transmit and record home videos. The camera itself is a compact and sturdy image transmitter, and doesn't actually do any recording. You'll need your VCR to do that. It's got a viewfinder, an adjustable hand strap and a built-in condenser mike, as well as a jack for the external mike. You can use the camera in two ways: to transmit live audio and video directly to your TV, or to record directly to your VCR while transmitting to your TV. The camera can be set up on a tripod. Although this camera can't be used outside or anywhere there isn't a TV or VCR, it could provide lots of fun at birthday parties and other family events. Requires six AA and two AAA batteries (included). --M. Sullivan ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars This is Kinda Iffy
I got this for my daughter for her birthday last year in May & she has played with it MAYBE 3 times for no longer than 45 mintues combined!!! It was to many wires everywhere. The last time she played with it, a large yellow glowing light appeared on the television over our sofa where she was directing. We though it was the sunlight shinning in from the patio doors, or prehaps the windows, or even from the light fixtures above. NOPE, NOPE, and NOPE!!! That light would not move and only was projected on the television while she had that thing on. Needless to say we all got spooked and it has been in the box since.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
This thing needs to be hooked up to the vcr to work. so your child cannot take it outside.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Director Barbie!
Imagine... being the director, writer, and producer of your own film! This toy is every kids dream. And the pink and green colors make it appealing to any little girl. This toy will stimulate hours and hours of imagination and creative playtime. Your kids will have a blast making their own movie and their friends will love being the stars! Making a movie is a fun and edcucational process with many rewards that parents and kids will love. Kids will learn orginizational skills, a new art form that could perhaps develop into a more serious love, writing, imagination skills and techinical skills. They will appreciate the work that goes into making a piece of art. Kids will love being in charge of their own movie just like the people in Hollywood. Spending hours on a movie is much more productive than watching Television. This camera is very fun and easy to operate. A built in Tripod makes it easy to handle and all the aspects can be easily masterd after a tutorial done by mom or dad. This is a nice toy for ages seven to twelve and is a great idea for a gift for any occasion! You'll love watching your kids have fun and seeing what they make!

Little Powerhouse
My son recently received a Power Wheels jeep that had been in use for over 3 years before he got it. The batteries had not been charged as specified in the instructions, and they died shortly after he started using it. The jeep couldn't run on concrete, much less on grass.

I replaced both existing batteries with these, which incidentally are a different colour from the picture, and the jeep now runs fine on most surfaces.

It requires 18 hours charging time before you can use the batteries, so be prepared for some impatience before the vehicle can actually be used. You have to charge them after each use, and also once a month if the vehicle is not in use, at 16 hours each time.

Tech support from Fisher Price is non-existent in my part of the world, where 800 numbers are not accessible, because their site doesn't have a customer service or tech support e-mail address listed. I needed important information, because I learned that the model I have was recalled for electrical problems, and I wanted to see exactly which parts needed to be fixed to solve the problem.

I'm sure that these batteries will last a long time with proper care, but wish the tech support was better
