Best,,, Game... EVER!!
AAAAAAAAAAH! I LOVE MYSTERY DATE!! WOO-HOO! I play it all the time with my buds, this game rocks!

What a blast!!!
I bought this game for my daughter for Christmas. Her 12th birthday was just a couple days after Christmas, and she had a few friends spend the night. They played this game almost all night and all I heard was giggles!!! It was a huge hit with her friends and is the perfect slumber party game!! They all want one!! The "dating" theme is more of a friendship thing than a romantic theme, so it really is age-appropriate, although I do think 9 is a little young. I played it with her and had a blast with it as well. There are actually 3 different games to play, so that increases the entertainment value as well. We have not had any trouble with the phone at all. A great game for older pre-teen and teenage girls!! A very wholesome approach to the whole boys and dating issue!

Don't waste your money!
My daughter wanted this game for Christmas so I bought it for her and wish that I would've saved my time because it went back to the store! The telephone worked for about 2 minutes tops and then became distorted. I changed the batteries and it still didn't work right. Maybe you will have better luck but I'm not going to buy it again.

What a hoot!
An updated for the new century version of the old "open the door" to your mystery date we all remember. My daughter is only 6 so was definately young for the game but we were looking for something to add to our 'family game night' toys that was girly. My 8 YO son enjoys it - just because he gets to play with the phone I think. I rate it as high in fun because my husband and I just got such a laugh out of this game! The kids liked the phone, we play in teams (mom against dad, switching children back and forth) and at least when playing with his family, our son did not seem to mind that it was more of a girls game then a boys game. They really should modify this concept for boys..it would not involve dating at all though for boys! Mystery monster maybe!!

Lots of fun.. but didn't work long!!
We loved the game. But the middle 3 digits including the number 5 stopped working after 20 minutes. Since all the phone numbers start with 555, we were unable to play a full game. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Even electronic toys have gone extreme. Kids love the original Bop It, an electronic toy that challenges response time to pull, twist, and bop different parts of the toy. The extreme version adds two more tasks, more sounds, and a taunting, smart-aleck announcer who directs the game. As you get better, the game moves faster until you miss a beat and lose, accompanied by a fair amount of noise and ridicule from the toy. People who don't think they'd ever want to play Bop It Extreme won't be able to put it down; it instills a compulsive need to bop till you drop. It can be played in a group and makes a good party game--even for serious adults. --Lynne Sampson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best toys EVER!!!
Now, mind you, this is coming from the perspective of a twenty-something. My friends and I are all addicted to this game. So, it's a big crowd pleaser with young adults, and even adults who wish they were young. However, it's also a lot of fun for older children.

I would not advise buying this toy for a young child, because it requires a lot of fine motor skills, coordination, and concentration. The premise is simple. The game talks and tells you to do one of five things: bop it, flick it, spin it, twist it, and pull it. The game tells you to do one of these things, and then you pick the part that corresponds to it (they are labled with the same names) and perform the required action (ie, if it tells you to "pull it" you pull the little blue thing).

Amazon has provided an online version of Bop It Extreme that you can try out for yourself to see what I mean. However, be warned. The online version seems to be a lot easier than the real thing for some reason.

This game is challenging, and will force you to play it over, and over and over...

You won't regret buying this game, whether it is for yourself, or for an older child. Oh, unless you are a parent and hate loud toys. There is no volume control on this toy, so you will be annoyed. Fair warning. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Commands will Haunt your head!
I never imagined how addictive or fun this toy would be from seeing the ads alone, then one day my friend got it and threw it at me to try. I was instantly hooked and had to get one.
Its a great toy to train focus and speed thinking along with great eye/hand/ear coordination. The pace and variety of moves (spin, flick, pull, bop, twist) keeps the game challenging and interesting for a long time.
Aside from regular solo Bop-it, there is also Bee-bop (instead of verbal commands, sound effects only are used), and the best part is the "group play" in which "pass it" is added to the commands and you dont want to be the one who gets stuck with it and screw up. (and yes, the toy will taunt you!) This is always a lot of fun to play in groups, especially if everyone jams along with the beat.
With all that said, you will annoy most other people in the room with the noise this toy makes...unless you let them play, and then everyone will have those sound effects and beat box running through their heads!!!

bop it EXTREME
I'm just a kid so I know fun. My best friend Lauren came over to play and brought her brother"s bop it extreme in case we got boarded. We ended up playing it for most of the tiime and she was over for 3&1/2 hours. This toy is really, Really, REALLY FUN. It's great for kids of all ages. My friend Lauren's little sister Allie can play it and she's only 3( she's really good too!) I recomend this toy for any person age 3 and up. If(when) you buy it you won't regret it because this to will ROCK YOUR WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Play the original first before this one
I like the game .People say its great. In my opinion,it's good but its not great. This was the 1998 sequel to Bop It(1996).plus,there was a sequel to the Bop It- Extreme:Bop It-Extreme 2(2002 or 03).Since this was the 2nd bop it,this has 5 actions:Pull it,twist it,bop it,spin it and flick it instead of 3.the game is a little too hard.I can never get the high score. The game is even more nuts when there is sounds instead of words. This is fun it's just that i'd rather you buy bop it before this one

Ain't the thing I was expecting,
Hi ya people, once again I got a nother toy. It is kind of fun in a way. Now, on to the review. In a way it is fun. I mean, sheesh, go buy bop it extream 2. This thing don't even have something to make it SHUT$& ! Yeah, there is'nt much differince in the game thingies. No diff at all. Next to that bop it extrem 2 has a head phone plug to lisin and play without disterbing anyone. Now, bop it extrem before you play choose what setting you want. I know beep-bop solo is when you play by yourself. Bop box is when you here tunes and noises. I don't know about the other settings. They ain't all that challenging. I bet you are wondering how to turn it off. Well, after you lost put it down gentley and it is automaticley shut off. So I recomend bop it extrem 2 more than I recomend bop it extrem. if you're a fan of boggle...
Portable boggle unit for boggle fans. Dictionary is depressingly thorough - tells you all the huge long words you missed!

It's a little slow to enter the words via the arrow keys, if you are used to scribbling them down on paper in the traditional game. You can obviously still play that way if you like, then the advantage of the unit is that it's a lot more portable than the traditional game. If you do enter the words, it will check them against the dictionary and compute your score automatically.

They need to make a handheld version of "master boggle"; or a unit that could play either "boggle" or "master boggle".

P.S. Another reviewer said you can't turn off the sound, which is incorrect. RTFM. In the game setup screen, you hold down the "left" and "right" buttons together for 3 seconds to toggle the sound.

Boggle HandHeld Game
Overall this game is very good.
Pros: 1. Great game you can play with 2 people.
2. Great game for a challenge.

Cons: 1. Sound can't be turned off. (I opened it up and disconnected the wire)
2. Can't add words to the dictionary, the memory isn't writable.
3. When playing the computer in an untimed game, you always go first. It would be good to know how many words the computer found. I've played it for over a year and I've never beat the computer on the untimed or timed game.

A fun addition to any Boggle-lover's collection!
This is a great addition to any Boggle-lover's collection! Its small size is convenient to carry most anywhere. There are two basic games, timed and untimed. In the timed variation (3 minutes), two players can challenge each other. This is probably the device's strongest point. When playing against the computer, you can easily lose by 100 points or more! Unfortunately, the computer only gives you a partial list of words which it thinks you missed. But it's good practice anyway. In the untimed variation, you can only play with one player. The manual indicates that you can play an untimed variation with a 2nd player, but this is not true. The only other concern is that the screen is sometimes difficult to read - the lighting has to be just right. The screen is also not back-lit. Despite the few complaints , I still think this is a really fun gadget for Boggle lovers who would like to practice on the go!

Excellent, educational and fun!
This game is challenging on many levels...especially if you have a fascination with words! It even tells you the words you missed finding! Having a timed and untimed game option makes play even more fun. You can play the computer or another person. Sounds are a bit annoying, but you can turn them off. This game is much more challenging than the handheld Scrabble game. Only bad point (why I gave 3 stars for durability) is that replacing the batteries is difficult. The screw securing the battery cover panel is extraordinarily hard to remove. Other than that, it is an excellent game! ... Read more

Ekara music in English not available
We bought this toy in Japan and unfortunately got only one Cartridge with it containing only Japanese songs. Hence it is useless to us unless we can find songs in English from the Beatles, Elton John or even the current pop songs etc. However these are not available on your site. Please advise if you can

didn't work
This crap didn't work. I plug it in my tv and didn't even turn on. What a waste of money. (...) It looks great but really is bad.

Fun for the money!
I purchashed 2 of these before Christmas because the clearance price was so low. My children are too young to read so we found ourselves playing with it. The headset is definitly designed with a child's head in mind and is terribly uncomfortable but the sound is impressive (which could vary depending on the quality of your television).

Our only big problem was the difficulty finding the special tapes that work with the system. They are essentially gone everywhere and I found myself buying them on E-bay at a bigger price than I paid for the whole unit. The 2 tapes that came with the unit are teenie bopper music only so we bought a Beatles tape that is great!

Good luck finding tapes..and if you have a preteen or teenager, they will love the music that comes with it.

Songs Way too old for 6 year olds/doesn't work on all tv/vcr
I have been trying to find a cartridge for my six year old that is age appropriate without all the sex and familiar songs to her like The wheels on the bus or The itsy bitsy spider or other childhood faviorites, but I have not found any. The toy would be great for a teenager but not for the younger children. Also I found it difficult to set up because not all of my tv/vcr's offer input/aux and therefore the product doesn't work.

e Kara Karoke
This would be an excellent product if it included some decent age appropriate music for the 6 to 13 age bracket. Many songs were sexually explicit and we were unable to use the cartridges. Folk songs, patriotic songs and Christian music would be wonderful. We are very disappointed with the lack of availability of good music for the children. A sad expensive disappointment. ... Go Simon
Simon hand-held is great! I love to play it in the car and boy is it durable. I've had it for about 2/1 years now and haven't replaced the batteries yet. I guess it a little edu. because you have to have skill.

FUN!!!!!!!!#1
this is great!!!!!!!!! i got this for my B-day and its great i play it EVERYDAY when i have time because im busy!!!1:}I would rate it 1000000000000000000000

One of the best toys for adults as well as kids
Simon is an excellent tool for improving memory. It stimulates the mind and provides great satisfaction along the way. The handheld version is compact and can easily be carried around in your pocket. I absolutely love it and whenever I am a little down, I play with it and immediately forget my troubles. I recommend this to all kids and especially to adults who are having trouble remembering.

this game is great
I remember the old big simon game - we used to play for hours. My son (8 years old) just got this one and he love it. It is just as addictive as is was years ago and while he thinks it's fun - I think it's great for building memory and concentration skills. It's so hard to find a toy thats fun and educational - this one is!!!

Fun and education in one fascinating package
As the clinical director of an outpatient mental health facility for children, I was constantly looking for new ways to engage the youngsters in therapy. One day I brought my son's Simon to the office, and the kids were mesmerized. The clinical staff found Simon to be especially effective in working with children with attention deficit disorder; it helped them to focus and concentrate their attention long enough to engage them in other therapeutic activities such as play therapy and art therapy. Simon was such a hit that we developed a waiting list for using it and had to order four more. My son's original Simon is still going strong after ten years of use (and umpteen battery changes). This is a really great toy that has stood the test of time. ... Read more

It's totally Barbie, but even a big girl would want this clock radio. Modern, stylish, and completely functional, it looks great on a nightstand or study desk. A coolmauve-pink body holds an easy-read clock (hour, minute, second, and alarm hands) witha giant snooze button on top flanked by on, off, sleep, and alarm buttons. There's also atunable FM radio, so your child can awake to the Top 40 instead of a buzzer if she likes.Coolest features: glowing clock hands, and a clock face that lights up, so girls can see thetime, fiddle with the radio, or have the unit serve as a nightlight in the dark. I can't believe I bought this
Needless to say I ignored the rest of the reviews and took a chance in buying this product because my daughter needed something to wake her up in the morning and loved Barbie. Originally she wanted the bratz alarm clock and I should of got it. The clock can only wake you up by the hour so if you need to wake up at 6:30 you have to set it for 6:00. Sometimes it doesn't go off at all. So the other review is right on that. It only takes batteries which is a total put down as well. It's not worth the [money]they are asking for....sorry Barbie.

cute, but accurate??
I bought this in an attempt to help my 8 yr. old become more responsible for getting herself up and ready for school in the morning. It's cute, and not overly "Barbie-ish" (many Barbie products just seem like blatant advertisements, imo). But when it comes to it's effectiveness as an alarm clock, I have my doubts!! The alarm time does not seem to be terribly accurate. We've used it 4 times and each day I reset it earlier because it didn't go off in time. This morning the alarm was set for 7am but still hadn't gone off by 7:25 when I finally came in and just turned the radio on to wake her up (I checked and the clock was set properly; batteries were brand new). It seems to me that a product that is obviously meant to be practical/ educational and not just a toy should be at least *somewhat* accurate!

My other concern is that there is no adapter or plug available -- only 4 AA batteries. I suspect we will have a few late mornings when the batteries start to die as well :P

The price is reasonable, but is comparable with an inexpensive electric alarm clock. I expected it to work like one. If you are purchasing this for practical reasons and not just as a cute toy, a kid's digital alarm clock might be a better alternative.

very happy with choice
I was trying to find a clock radio for my daughter that would grow with her. She is now 5 and loves to listen to the radio. This is easy for her to turn on and off and change the volume etc. Although it turns off in about 30 min. It's alright for her age. (her attention span carries her around the house and it won't stay on forever then.) The sound quality is good, not scratchy or staticy. And it's not so bold with pics on it that it won't last her till age 12 or so when Barbie goes "out of style". ... Read more

Cute as fluff.
It's so nice to see something girly that isn't Barbie. Four stars for educational value for the same reason the other reviewer gave-- you could have your child listening to educational CD's while maintaining your sanity instead of going crazy listening to Barney and things. It's also a nice shade of pink, as opposed to the pepto-pink we usually see in girls' toys.

Also great for those of us who are Hello Kitty fanatics! The sound quality is excellent, and the ASP actually works, unlike a lot of the "non-toy" portable CD players.

the cutest portable discman!
this is a great portable cd player- i'm 29 & i love it- hello kitty's face is so bright & cheerful, the sound rocks & i've dropped it & it keeps on playing!

it has an anti-skip mechanism that works a lot better than the "grown-up" brand name discman's i've had & did i mention how cute it is????

i gave it a 5 star educational value, because if you're buying this for a child you could fill it with great books on tape and/or wonderful music.

i highly recommend this to hello kitty lovers of all ages! ... Read more

It's not all fun and games
After I started playing Freecell online and on the computer, I saw this trusty gadget and thought that I would enjoy it. The easiest thing about this contraption was getting it out of the plastic case. There were no directions and after fighting with it for an hour, I put it down and went back to my regular solitaire game. I still haven't figured it out. I don't like the way it scrolls up and down so you aren't sure what card you are on. It is difficult to use, and I'm an adult... the only thing a kid might do is use it to break something else. If there were coherent directions, perhaps it might be more valuable to me... but at this point, it's somewhere in my basement and I'm not in much hurry to retrieve it.

Nice but hard to see at times.
I am an avid freecell player. Even bought a game for my palm pilot. This portable is very well constructed. It takes a bit of getting used to for the controls (especially since there were no instructions at all.)

The only complaint I really have is the lack of the ability to adjust the LCD contrast. When I put batteries in it and hold it at a normal angle, I can see every segment lit up and it makes it difficult to see the cards that are supposed to be lit up.

Other than that, not a bad little time waster.

(...)

Awesome
Since purchasing this game 2 years ago - it has become my best friend. I take it everywhere. It comes in handy when I find myself waiting in long lines, or waiting to see the doctor. I'll even play it while watching TV - it helps while waiting for the commercials to finish.

A great way to pass the time.
I spend a lot of time in waiting rooms ..... hospitals, doctor offices, etc., so I was excited when I found this compact hand held Free Cell game by Radica. I love Free Cell anyway, because the game challenges me and is never boring. Now I love it even more because I can put it easily into my purse and take it with me everywhere I go. No more boredom during long waits, and no lost games when I need to suddenly put it away. The game is still waiting for me exactly as I left it when I resume play. I find the coloring of the cards is in no way a problem, and I don't mind scrolling a bit if that is what is necessary to keep the game size compact enough to carry with me. For me, these things simply add to the interest of the game.

Glad its here, but could be better
Being an avid freecell player on the computer I was excited when I saw the handheld version from RADICA being advertised. Having played a few games on it now, I feel the cards should be in red and black since it is hard to make out which is which. Also it would have been nice to view the entire line of cards in each row like you can on the computer instead of having to scroll up and down. Still I plan to keep it, since it is more challenging than the computer version because of its problems!! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars There's definitely good and bad here
On one hand, the Atari Flashback console features a pretty diverse selection of games. It's also interesting to note that Centipede and Asteroids are the Atari 7800 versions.Centipede actually sort of sounds like the arcade version, but Asteroids, as has been mentioned elsewhere, doesn't quite feel the same without the "drift" after firing your thrusters. As for the Atari 2600 games, there are several classics included and several clinkers. The main reason I bought this console was for the 2600 game "Solaris".The game seems complex and is rather challenging. It combines outer space flight with "rescue missions" on the planet surfaces. It was graphically impressive for its time and to this day rates as a unique and different game."Yar's Revenge" is also an oldie but a goodie and performs flawlessly here. And if you're looking for a true classic, "Adventure" is represented very well here. While the graphics are extremely primitive and the sound is nonexistent, it features a wealth of things to do and accomplish.Good stuff.

Like others have mentioned, there are several problems with this system as well. The 7800 game "Desert Falcon" is just pathetic. The frame rate must be 2 frames per minute or something... it simply doesn't perform well at all.The biggest loser of the bunch though in my opinion has to be "Warlords".This 4-player "Breakout"-style game features a seizure-inducing screen jump that occurs every time a brick is destroyed. There is just no way this game can be enjoyed at all.And finally, the joysticks themselves can cause serious carpal tunnel effects. They are much smaller than the old 7800 sticks that they were inspired by, and after playing a game that involves a lot of trigger action (Solaris for example), my hand felt like it wouldn't open back up!

Overall, it's a fun system for nostalgia lovers... if you can get past some of the glitches. For the price, it's a great bargain though, and if you're a fan of any of these old games and don't have the originals, it's definitely worth a look.

2-0 out of 5 stars Extremely disappointed
Being an avid classic gamer, I had been excited to pick up one of these Atari Flashback units since I first heard about its development.Once I finally plugged it in and played the games... well, let's just say I'll be returning it to the store.

Apparently, this console was a rush-job, developed in only ten weeks, and it shows.Instead of running on the original hardware, these games are being emulated. This leads to all sorts of graphical glitches and gameplay problems.Desert Falcon has so much flicker that it's all but unplayable.I was unable to select different tracks/surfaces in Sprintmaster. The ship in Asteroids doesn't drift when you fire the thruster. There is no gravity in Gravitar. The list goes on...

In fairness, some of the games played flawlessly - Adventure comes to mind, and the previously unreleased Saboteur. The paddle games (Breakout, etc.) were faithfully represented, but I found them too hard to control with the joystick controller.

I am extremely disappointed because this console had so much promise.I sincerely hope that Atari can perfect the system and release a new version.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost like old times...
Of course you're not eyeing this as the latest in graphics and technology.Rather, you're looking at it for nostalgic or retro enjoyment. This was the case with my wife, who missed her old Atari from when she was a kid.So I decided to pick one up for her that we could relax to after the kids went to bed.

Overall, it's not a bad job.It features one previously unreleased game (which I feel ought to have remained unreleased) as well as nineteen of everyone's favorites from the original Atari. Some of the games included are Breakout, Yar's Revenge, Centipede and Millepede (I can understand one or the other, but were both of these really necessary?), Asteroids, Desert Falcon, Gravitar, Food Fight, Crystal Castle and a number of others.

Like other retro-Atari products now being released, I find that games originally intended to be played with a paddle don't play as well with a joystick.Additionally, and I don't know how this was managed given how simple the programming in comparison to today's games, but somehow Atari lost some of the original programming in transfering these games. So certain minor things (like sounds and other effects) are missing from the original.

Take Asteroids for example -- in the original, the space ship would continue to drift after you released the thrusters. In this version, however, the ship just stops moving when you stop the thrusters. So expect some minor changes.

One thing my wife and I did appreciate was the instruction book that refreshed our memory about the background of each games, as well as explained what each level means.Since a number of the games can be set to nine or ten different levels, each with its own subtle variations, you're not left scratching your head. Of course the games aren't too difficult to figure out, but it is still nice to know what each mode adds or omits -- particularly if it activates the second player.

Which brings me to another advantage this holds over most other retro-Atari products; that is, the second joystick that allows two player options.A lot of these games really aren't that fun to play alone, or the novelty soon wears off when playing them alone.

This system really fulfills its nostalgic and retro purposes because you can enjoy it with your friends, or alternatively cuddle up in bed or on the couch with your spouse and just enjoy an evening home. And this adds a lot to the fun of this project.

2-0 out of 5 stars Gives old games a bad name.
The hardware is nice, but the software screams "rush job."Like the JAKKS all-in-one units, the Flashback uses a different hardware platform than the original chipset these Atari games were designed to run on.As a result, we get copies of copies of old arcade games, with a lot lost in the translation.Collision detection is off, sounds are missing, and the game set isn't as good as the games from over twenty years ago that it pretends to collect. For the price, you'd be better served by finding a flea-market Atari or settling for the Jakks Atari joystick or paddles.

UPDATE: Atari is making a completely new version of the Flashback console, using updated Atari 2600 VCS hardware, joysticks with the original "classic" feel, and 40 games built in.The console will include 3D Tic-Tac-Toe, Adventure, Adventure II, Aquaventure, Arcade Asteroids, Arcade Pong, Asteroids Deluxe, Atari Climber, Caverns Of Mars, Centipede, Combat, Combat 2, Dodge'm, Fatal Run, Frog Pond, Hangman, Haunted House, Human Cannonball, Lunar Lander, Maze Craze, Millipede, Missile Command, Off the Wall, Outlaw, Pitfall, Quadrun, Radar Lock, Return To Haunted House, River Raid, Saboteur, Save Mary, Secret Quest, Space Duel, Space War, Thrust, Video Checkers, Video Chess, Wizard, Yars' Return, Yars' Revenge ... and some secret hidden "easter eggs."All indications point to this being THE plug-and-play system to own. It's supposed to be available by late July 2005.Search for Amazon #B00093DHIK to order one.
