Editorial Review

Almost a century old, Flinch is the seemingly simple but surprisingly difficult card game inwhich players attempt to discard from their stockpiles of 10 cards by playing them in numerical sequence(when possible). Sure, it sounds like a round of this could be over in minutes, but it never turns out thatway. The original, handsome design of the cards is still intact, but the makers of the game have come upwith some additional contests for modern folk, including Flinch 2000, with wild cards. There's also asolitaire version and one just for kids. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT family fun!
My family and I played this game often when I was young, and now I play with my mom, brother, his wife, and our oldest daughters! This game not only helps teach young ones to count backwards from 15 and to think critically and strategically, it is great fun for them to catch grown-ups making an error (it happens--the adults are chatting and enjoying watching the kids!)This game accomodates from two to eight players, so the more the merrier.......have fun!

3-0 out of 5 stars A slow play . . .
Based upon the earlier reviews of this game, I expected more. Although enjoyable enough, the game moves incredibly slowly -- at least for a group of 4 adults. I can, however, see why families with children would find this game fun.

These cards are not coated
We love the game, and actually came across one at a garage sale from the 1960's. We played them for a long while and finally had to replace the deck. We love the game so much, but the cards are already worn out and we just purchased the deck a little over a month ago

5-0 out of 5 stars flinch card game by winning moves
we played this game 30 years ago every day i was 8 at the time it was alot of fun and i have been looking for it for years i hope it becomes available again i will buy them for me and tell all my freind s and family i played it with back then

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun for all ages!
I learned this game while perched on a couple of telephone books at my Grandma's kitchen table more than 40 years ago. Now I am playing with my own kids-- and still having a ball! Young children can learn their numbers (1-15) as they play, older children quickly begin to learn the strategies necessary to win. A wonderful family game! ... Read more

OH MY GOD
OH MY GOD!!! I got this game for X-mas a couple years ago, but never had a chance to play it with anyone. Then this week my grandparents came to visit. One night we decided to play cards. I got out my Harry Potter Uno cards, and we had a BLAST! It was so much fun! Everyone enjoyed playing it. We stayed up until midnight playing, and we had started at 8! Lets just say it kept us busy.....

Oh, and I agree with the guy... why would you play in a dimly lite room?

I recommend this to all ages. You will have sooo much fun, trust me.

Very fun!
This is a terrific card game. Oh, and for the moron who put that it's hard to see the numbers on the yellow cards in a dimly lit room, why would you play there anyway?

Played it today and really enjoyed it
Uno has always been a fun game. It isn't very complicated or cerebral, which is why it's fun for kids and even adults when some light diversion is needed. The idea of theme decks is a nice touch, and most themes are lent to a specific set of house rules.

I played Harry Potter Uno with a few other people today, and everybody had a great time. The Howler and Invisibility cards were a nice variation, and we made up Hogwart-esque penalties for certain situations. The nice artwork on the cards took a bit of getting used to, but everybody quickly made the adjustment. If you or your kids like Harry Potter or Uno, this deck is great idea.

A Fun Twist to the Popular Game of Uno
Mattel's game of Uno has been a fun and entertaining card game for many years. The basic rules for playing Uno are as follows:

1. The deck consists of four suits (red, green, blue and yellow). Each suit contains several sets of cards numbered "0" through "9", as well as the cards "Skip", "Reverse" and "Draw Two".
2. In addition to the cards of the four suits, there are two sets of wild cards: regular "Wild" cards and the dreaded "Wild Draw Four" cards.
3. To begin play, each player begins with a score of zero. The dealer deals each player seven cards and places the remaining cards face down in the center of the playing area as the "draw stack", then turns the first card up and sets it down to create the "discard stack".
4. The goal of the game is for each player to discard as many cards as possible before the other players can. To discard a particular card, it must match the current card at the top of the discard stack either by suit or by number (or "Skip", "Reverse" or "Draw Two"). A "Wild" card can be played at any time to change current suit color. A "Wild Draw Four" card can only be played when the player has no cards matching the current suit color. If the player has no matching cards, he/she must take a new card from the draw stack.
5. When a "Skip" card is played, the next player loses his/her turn. When a "Reverse" card is played, player direction is reversed. When a "Draw Two" card is played, the next player must take two cards from the draw stack and lose his/her turn. When a "Wild Draw Four" card is played, the next player has to take four new cards and loses his/her turn.
6. If a player has only one card remaining, he/she must call out "Uno" to let the other players know. Otherwise, he/she runs the risk of having to take two new cards from the draw stack if another players catcher her/him with only one card.
7. The first player to discard all of his/her cards is the winning player of the hand. The point values of all the remaining cards that the other players have are summed together and become part of the winning player's overall score.
8. The first player to reach 500 points wins the game.

After the release of the "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone" film in 2001, Mattel came out with a special "Harry Potter" edition of the classic Uno game. The cards in the Harry Potter Uno deck contain pictures of various characters from the "Harry Potter" films, and there were a few card changes:
1. The "Draw Two" cards became "Draw Three" cards.
2. Two additional special cards were added: the "Howler" card and the "Invisibility" card.

With the addition of the two special cards and the "Draw Three" card, the rules for playing Uno were slightly modified:

1. When a "Draw Three" card is played, the next player must take three cards from the draw stack.
2. When the "Howler" card is played, the next player must reveal their cards to everyone, unless they possess an "Invisibility" card. Both the "Howler" and "Invisibility" cards also act as "Wild" cards.
3. The "Invisibility" card can also be used to protect against receiving a "Draw Three" or "Wild Draw Four" card.

Uno is a fun game that both children and adults can enjoy for hours. The Harry Potter Uno game is even more fun because of the addition of the "Howler" and "Invisibility" cards. Overall, I rate Harry Potter Uno with 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to everyone. The only problem that I noted with the Harry Potter Uno deck is that it can be difficult to differentiate the white text on the yellow cards in a poorly-lit room.

Even my Grandma had a good time
I'm 23 and I love the Harry Potter books. I was given this card game as a birthday present. My family loves to play games but we often have a hard time finding one we can all agree to play. Uno is usually a favorite. Even my Grandma, who is 86, enjoyed this game. The Howler and Invisibility cloak cards were a nice addition to the game.

On the down side, the colors in the Harry Potter version are sometimes hard to differentiate, and I had to explain the cryptic icons for the Reverse and Skip cards to everyone ahead of time. ... Read more

A member of Mattel's popular family of Uno card games, Skip-Boresembles speed (or spit) in the same way that Uno takes after crazyeights. Out of a 162-card deck, two to six players are each dealt20-card "stockpiles"; the first one to deplete their pile wins. Competingeither alone or in teams, players draw from a central pile and stacktheir cards sequentially onto one of four "build" piles (for example,an eight onto a seven, a three onto a two), using plentiful Skip-Bowild cards to break up static situations. Deceptively simple andingeniously designed, this classic game offers plenty of strategizingopportunities, or it can just make a nice backdrop to socializing andmunching on potato chips. --Paul Hughes ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Skip Bo -- Easy And Fun to play!
My grandmother showed me this game years ago! I have gone through two decks of skip-Bo playing cards. (162 cards each deck.) If we are not playing Scrabble; we are playing Skip-Bo. Fun for the whole family!

If your kids know their colors and how to count to 12 they can play. Or, you can teach them to count to 12 using this game.

Skip-Bo is easy and fun to play. Fun to play at parties. Try it!

An Excellent Alternative To Solitaire
I love this game! I first played it in the late 90s, introduced to me, and I love it. I do love Solitaire, but this is a refreshing alternative. I give this game a perfect 10! I recommend this highly!

Great Game!
Our whole family loves this game. Even my 3 year old can play. It is a fun game to play on family game night or when you are just bored. You only have to have two people to play. This game is worth it's price!

I'll never get tired of this game!!
Ever since I was a little girl I have loved this game. Not only do kids enjoy this game but adults too. My family still plays this game every time we get together and the youngest of us is 21! I love the fact that this game has a strategy component and it's not just based on luck. I'm always on the edge of my seat planning my next move. My family and I have introduced this game to several friends over the years and they've become just as hooked as we are. It's always "just one more game." Try it out and you'll see. I promise you won't be let down.

Great
I played this game a lot lately and it is tons of fun. It is a game of luck, but there is also a lot of thinking and planning involved. It giives you a chance to sit around with friends and family and have a blast. ... Read more

It's a shrimp-eat-plankton world out there, and small fry will easilyget hooked on Chomp!, the fast and finny food chain card game from Gamewright. With this deep-sea deck depicting sharks, seals, and assorted big and littlefishies, players can engage in several versions of the card game War (as inPortuguese man-of-) by flipping over a card from their school and being thefirst to devour something lower on the food chain played by an opponent. Anelectric eel instigates a feeding frenzy whereby even a little crawdad gets totake a bite out of a great white, but beware an Octopus Ink-Out--it muddies thewater enough to penalize any player who attempts to chomp another. Versatile andeasy to learn, Chomp! provides some silly sequencing fun for kids to sink theirteeth into. --Tony Mason ... Read more

Does he have a pair--or is he faking? Yes! No? What should I do?! Be right, be fast--but don't be last, or you'll end up the loser in Hands Down, Hasbro's "game of slap-happy fun." It's the perfect choice for energetic, competitive 6-to-12-year-olds who love to tease. There's not a lot of strategy involved here--it's something like an energized version of "Go Fish": players draw and combine cards to make a pair, and then--wham!--it's all hands down on the Slam-O-Matic unit (a groovy plastic playing surface sporting four spring-loaded "hands"). Last one down forfeits a card! Hands Down is a hilarious icebreaker as well as a fistful of fun. No batteries necessary. Hands Down can be played by three or four players.--Julie Ubben ... Read more

The Peanut's Gang Rule!
This is a extremely fun and nostalgic version of this popular game.
This Peanuts Uno, however, has a fun little twist in the form of the the Good Grief card! If this card is played, the person it is played upon must keep drawing cards from the draw pile until they receive any type of card that has Charlie Brown pictured on it. Believe me, this could result in a player have more cards in his/her hand than he/she can almost handle! I highly recommend this set of Peanuts UNO for those who grew up loving this great comic strip and/or those who still enjoy an uncomplicated piece of history! The only drawback I'll mention is the cards could have been made thicker and thereby more durable as they are somewhat thin. ... Read more

Match'em is a fast and furious card game that has playerstesting their reflexes and mental calculators at lightning speed. Twoto four players each get five game cards and play them on the specialmat that's included. Players must try to match the point value of thelast player's card with one or more cards from their own hands. If aplayer can't match the last play, he or she draws two more cards fromthe deck, and play continues. The first player to get rid of all of hisor her cards wins the hand; win three hands and you've won the match. The rules are simple; the cards and play mat are colorful and welldesigned; and the frenzy of flipping cards in this clever game isaddictive. --John Longenbaugh ... Fun for all!
This is a great game to play with your kids. It is our (my son and my) favorite game to choose on game night. We enjoy trying to see how fast we can come up with the number combinations to get rid of our cards. He started playing this with me when he was six and now he is nine, but it is still a favorite.

Love it- adults and kids!
This is a fun game for all ages. When we have adult game night, we love it because you have to think...but just a little. And for kids (probably 7 and above) they can learn how to add several numbers in a row to get to a certain point. easy to learn, fast to play....it's a blast!

5-0 out of 5 stars Match'Em
A great Math "enhancement" game. Similar to a game like crazy eights in that the object is to get rid of your cards first, BUT in Match'Em you may use more than one card. If mom plays a 15, Amy can play 7&8 or 9&6, or three 5's. They all add up to 15. Lots more "educational fun" than the regular games. ... Read more

Cool, but cuddabeen betta!
As a native New Yawkah & avid Uno player, I was excited to discover and purchase this edition and see what would be portrayed on the cards. Frankly, the photos are lousy, as if someone (actually about 10 nobodies) wanted to prove how artistically they could portray the Big Apple. Postcards these are not. Grimy, gritty real, yeah, sure. But two photos of NYC subway stations - come on! But, okay,SKIP EVERONE is very cool - fuhgedaboutit! If you're from New York, you'll recognize Trinity Church, if not, you wouldn't know if from Adam, as we say. Dah Bwooklin Bwidge is dair, yellow cabs and fire hydrants too, and my friends couldn't stop playing New York Uno - they loved it. It's good, but cudda been bedda.

Nice!

Winner of an Oppenheim Best Toy Award, this delightful Gamewright card game is as intellectually tasty as it is hilariously unappetizing. Forty-four cards in the bread-shaped deck are nine separate elements of sandwich fare: one card portrays a lettuce leaf, another shows tomatoes, a third offers a smear of peanut butter, a fourth depicts egg slices, and so on. After the cards are dealt, players lay them down on a central pile (Peanut butter on top of eggs?! Gross!) to construct a card-sandwich that can be won in several different ways. If you see a pair of elements, or a "sandwich" of matching elements--for example, lettuce, pickles, then lettuce again--you slam your hand on the food pile and keep the cards. There are also three "thief" cards to stop (i.e., smack!) and eight devilish "muncher" cards, which demand that you get a pair or a "sandwich" while laying down a specified number of cards or you lose your grub. Slamwich takes about 20 minutes to play, and is deeply pleasurable for young ones, and pretty darned amusing for adults, too. Slamwich is for two to six players. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's addictive...you can't play just once!!!
Since it's arrival in our house, The Slamwich card game has become the most popular game in our neighborhood. The game appeals to a wide range of ages; from 5 to 13 (o.k, I admit it, I'm 30 something and I'm hooked too!) When friends come over, The Slamwich is the first thing they look for. When invited to a friend's house, the game is invited too. We've considered buying another copy, 'cause one kid took it to a sleepover, and the other 2 kids in the house were going through withdrawals! The rules are simple for the younger children, there's no reading involved, the cards are very comfortable to handle, the graphics are entertaining and some are even appetizing(whenever I play, I get a craving for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!) The game promotes quick thinking and action (yes, the kids do get some exercise playing this game...at least in the arm that they "slam" with!) The Slamwich game also insires creativity. The kids have already come up with alternate rules to make it a little more interesting...they "slam" when they see the ingredients to a BLT, and a Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich. When you go on a picnic this summer, don't forget the Slamwich!

STURDY,FUN,FAST Paced
Slamwich is a fun game and it is educational in a way kids don't even realize-it teaches patterns, and helps with hand eye co-ordination. Everytime kids come over to our house they want to play SLAMWICH. I enjoy it too. It's the one game the kids can beat the adults at all alone-with no help. Its exciting-you never know when they will yell Slamwich,or Double decker,or Stop thief!! I am giving them out as Birthday gifts to the kids this year (the ones that want it and can't find it in stores!) Don't listen to anyone that says the game isn't a hit-Give it a chance and work at learning it take a try or two but then they quickly GET IT!! There are ways to make it easy or hard-go with what the kids understand! Its like war. The game is very durable! The cards are NOT flimsy! The box is very sturdy (Its the only game the kids play and the only box that is still intact!) Look aT the picture and se for yourself. Read the reviews-its an oppenheim Best toy award game.
Also its compact so it is not taking up a lot of space and can be brought anywhere in your purse-or kids backpack! Get this game!!! Never met a mom who didn't say--Where did you get Slamwich?? My kids wants it now!

Fun for all ages!!!
This is a very popular game used at the child care center where I work. All the kids love playing this game. Their ages range from five to eleven. As a twenty three year old, I enjoy playing it myself! This game is great for families, classrooms, or parties.

Didn't work in our house
Perhaps we introduced this game at the wrong time... but it failed miserably at our house.
The cards are oddly shaped, and not sturdy, so they got torn and bent (and lost) quickly. No one seemed to enjoy playing the game, even after they understood the concept...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great cabin game/rainy day game
Our four kids, ranging in age from 11-17, really enjoy this game. It is fun to hear the laughter as they play together. It is tough to find something that my "sports" enthusiast kids can equally share together. Highly recommend. ... Read more

6 year old LOVES this game
I got this set of UNO cards for my son for his sixth birthday. He absolutely loves this game. He had never been introduced to UNO before and he is crazy about it. It's the perfect game for children and adults to play for family fun. I remember playing UNO as a child with my own family and having a blast. The Spiderman theme and the awesome Spider Sense card make it even better for your boys who love Spiderman. I have already played countless games with my son. I use it often as a bribe to get him to do things around the house and it works! "Just one more game, Mom, pleeeease." He loves it!! A perfect birthday gift for 5-7 year olds.

Low-tech/high fun game for family game night
This little card game has provided hours of fun for our whole family. My kids are 8 and 5 and they've played Spiderman Uno with each other and with my husband and me so many times that we've lost count. We've had the game for nearly a year.

We now have Harry Potter Uno also, and it's almost as much fun, but nothing beats the Spidey version with its special "Spider Sense" card (when you play it you get to take a look at the entire hand of one of your opponents). What's more, the Spidey version comes in a durable metal tin, which is so important for keeping the cards corraled. We haven't lost one card, thanks to the tin.

We love the high-quality art on the tin and the cards, too. (We'll probably never want to play ordinary Uno after having played this one.) But the best thing about the game is that it's just complex enough to be fun for everyone, but it's not too challenging for our (admittedly gifted) 5-year-old. He actually wins about half the time, even though neither of the kids has yet picked up on some of the finer points of strategy that are fairly obvious to the adult player. I really am not sure how the average 5-year-old would do with this game, but I suspect there would be more fun than frustration as long as his/her opponents are patient.

This little gem was one of the best toy purchases we made last year, and I'm glad to see it's still available, because it makes a super gift for little (and big) Spidey fans. ... Read more

What A Find!!
At Christmastime I was looking for last minute stuffers and came across this game at a local dime store and thought it would be good for my 10 yr. old. I had no idea it would be such a hit! My 13 yr old will actually join in on family game night! It is so much fun! My 5 yr, old is learning to spell. She just asks us to double check her spelling and off she goes. My kids friends have played and now I am trying to find it for birthday gifts. They all want it and I can't find it! My whole family highly recommends the game and what a find it was!
