Editorial Review Playing cards thoughtfully designed for non-readers are coded with colorful squares matching the jeweled stepping-stone path or an occasional token matching one of the characters' symbols: draw a blue card, move to the nearest blue stepping-stone; draw a snowflake and earn a visit to Queen Frostine's iceberg. There are occasional pitfalls, too: land on the wrong square and you might be stuck in Molasses Swamp until a red card is drawn. With all these enticing, sugarcoated images (and King Kandy plainly visible at path's end), children can't help but be delighted by Candy Land. It's delicious! Instructions are in both Spanish and English. Candy Land is for two to four players) --Julie Ubben Reviews (45)

good game for color recognition
Perfection
A two year old can benefit from this game I did not bother with teaching her about losing turns at this point, I will teach her that when she can comprehend it. She picks her own cards and knows how to move. At first we did not take turns. I taught her how to play a one player game, then we moved into taking turns. She can now play by herself and loves to get the candy cards as much as any other child. Instead of being stick in the mollasses swamp, she gets tickled...makes the game much more fun at this point. ... Read more

It really works.
DANGEROUS 1. NO NEGATIVITY! Dont be angry, depressed, or feel or think any negative thoughts when attempting to communicate. This could attract a negative spirit. Keep your thoughts and emotions positive. 2. LIGHTING- Don't dim the lights, use candle light, or at night, or in a thunderstorm, or anything like that to try to set the 'mood'. That will likely just frighten you. Fright is in this case a NEGATIVE feeling. Avoid it as best you can! Use with plenty of light in conditions you feel most comfortable in. There are three types of spirits. The Good, the Mischevious, and the Bad. The Good are friendly. The mischevious may lie, or play around, perhaps in ways that may frighten you. The Bad are the dangerous ones. 3. If at any time while using the Ouija board you suddently become very afraid or cold, discontinue use immediately! These are signs of a negative spirit. 4. Treat spirits with respect! Be kind, polite and considerate. Most spirits find it rude to dig too deeply into their death. It may be wise to ask permission. 5. When talking to them, remember that spirits were once living people too. They have personalities, interests, friends, and opinions too. 6. ALWAYS say good-bye before you leave! After saying good-bye, let the spirit move the planchette (the pointer) over to the Goodbye also. 7. Dont go CRAZY. Watch for signs of obsession. If you notice that your becoming obsessed with the Ouija, don't use your Ouija for awhile. Take a break for a few weeks. The reason being, you run the risk of going insane. No joke. Susy Smith in "Confessions of a Psychic" (1971) claims that using a Ouija board caused her to become mentally disturbed. In "Thirty Years Among the Dead" (1924), American psychiatrist Dr. Carl Wickland claims that using the Ouija board "resulted in such wild insanity that commitment to asylums was necessitated." I started to experience some wild mood swings and unstability after constant use in a very short span of time. 8. I believe that houses can become haunted through the use of using the Ouija. If you dont want to run the risk of that, just dont use it in ur house! Use it in some other building where there will be litle destractions and you can concentrate.
THIS IS AWESOME!

Great Game
Excellent value
Fun for Families My son has invited many of the kids in the neighborhood over to play, and they have all enjoyed the different games. The only downside is that they have to take turns playing since more than one person cannot play at a time. Like one of the other reviews said, it does drain batteries, making the colors go out. But buying batteries is still cheaper than buying a video game that can easily get scratched. This is easily worth the $20 that I paid for it!

With a little patience, a fantastic travel game
Not the best travel version of scrabble On the plus side you can stop mid-game, fold everything up, go somplace else and resume where you left off. I much preferred an older travel version which I gave away to a friend. It folded in half and was made out of light blue plastic.

Excellent game This game is easy to play for children even before they really understand the strategy. But, I was surprized how quickly my daughter got the hang of it. Before long, she was blocking my moves or removing my cards without any prompting. We had to buy another game because she "marked" the special cards with little bite marks, and would know what card I was drawing. We also a bought one for each Grandparents' house and have given many for gifts to 4 and 5 year olds. It's really a great game.
Teaches strategy
our favorite family game!
What an awesome game!

I left home in 1992 to join the Army and my stepmom put all my childhood stuff in storage. I didn't get a whole lot of my stuff back til I came back to the Memphis area (for the second time) in 2001... and there, amongst my things, was that selfsame Rubik's Cube. And lo and behold if it doesn't still work beautifully after nine years in storage! Doesn't even need to be lubricated, all the stickers are still intact (even if some of them have nicks in them) and... it's still mixed up, doggone it, and now I wish I had my book again! Definitely a fun toy. I have heard most kids these days would rather zonk out on the computer than play something that might actually provide an intellectual challenge. It's a shame, too.
The one--the only Although I owned Rubik's Magic rings as a kid, a similar but easier-to-solve toy, I never owned the most famous, the original Rubik's cube. I tried, but always got stuck after figuring out one of the sides. Fast forwarding to a few months ago, I saw it again at a friend's house and was inexplicably hooked. I knew it was only a matter of time before I ordered it. This cube has proved to be reasonably durable and is fun if you like puzzles. Don't bother to buy a guide to how to figure it out, as there are TONS of solutions on the Internet, from the basic ones to the fast solutions which require a lot of memorization. Whether you cheat or figure it out yourself, it will certainly keep you entertained and is a good value for the money.
O why dost thou torture me so?! Like all fads, my interest in the cube eventually began to wane to the point where I'd pick it up only on a rare occasion & spend a little bit of time trying to figure it out. Needless to say, I was no more successful on these occasions than I was before. In fact, as I worked on it more and more, in my mind I could hear this demonic puzzle mocking me, and belittling me for thinking that I had the skill and perception to solve it. Sure, I coulda' done what everybody else did-- take the thing apart and then put it back together so that each face was a solid color-- but that was a coward's way out. And besides, I was afraid I was gonna break the thing. And replacing it would've been a bit pricey for someone who was only gettin' a dollar allowance each week... Fast-forward to the modern day. I see this booger for a really good price, and decide to purchase it. Why did I get it after all of the aforementioned childhood frustrations, you ask? Well, part of it has to do with my endless desire to re-live my childhood. Another part of it has to do with my masochistic tendencies. But the biggest part of it has to do with me having an excuse to write a review of the product, and annoying you with my memories and opinions about that product. Which of course is what I'm doin' right now. Anyhoo, this latest incarnation of the immortal Rubik's cube resembles and works like the original in just about every way. The only difference I can sense is a cosmetic one: the white center cube features the product's logo and website domain (www.rubiks.com). Also thrown in is Solution Hints booklet, which supposedly can help the user straighten out the jumbled mess he's created. After mixing up the new cube really good, I decided to take as much advantage as I could of the booklet's hints. The suggestions it revealed were somewhat helpful; with them I managed to arrange one face into a single solid color. Other than this small victory, however, I'm still workin' on the other faces. With luck, patience, and several shots o' caffeine, I'll probably have this bad-boy knocked out by the time I'm eligible for Social Security benefits... Post Script: Anybody remember that segment of "That's Incredible!" where this teenager used his feet to solve a Rubik's cube while he whizzed around on a boogie board being towed by a speedboat? Man, was that whacked out or what?! And people call ME a weirdo... 'Late
An Almost Indestructible Burst of Mind-Boggling Fun Rubik's Cube is nearly indestructible (I've seen very strenuous attempts fail utterly) and, for those who do master the main solution, the instruction book offers other challenges (e.g., rearrange the cube so that each side has a center square of one color and all other squares a second color). Is this product fun? I think that many players will enjoy the Cube greatly until they first solve it, and then put it on display in a convenient spot for purposes of tormenting peers. Enthusiasts will continually re-scramble and re-solve Rubik's Cube, just as cats will endlessly swat at dangling bits of yarn. Fanatics (a.k.a. "true lovers of the game") will try the alternative solutions. Dolphins tend to enjoy Rubik's Cube as a tool for removing dental tartar. *gnaws on the yellow and green sides of an already well-gnawed cube*

1. Each player has his/her own imagination. So no matter how often you play the game, each player might draw or guess differently the same card! 2. It's fun for parents to enjoy it with their teens. 3. It's fun for friends to play it together. 4. It's fun when men play against their wives (oh I love this one)! Do you know it's very difficult to draw simple objects? Just try drawing anything and see what others guess it. Oh sometime they go very far that even if you wanted them to guess that word they'd have not :-) One of the best games that are as good as this one (if not better) is Taboo! Have fun...
This game brought our family together!
All age-groups and use dry erase boards Our family has been playing this game with dry erase boards for a while now. Not only does it save on paper, it is so much more fun. There are new strategies in eraseing pictures and using multiple colors. It really changed our game nights with these boards. My husband just purchased whiteboards at, eraseboards.com(?), I think. Pretty affordable. Every Pictionary owner should try using dry erase.
Very fun game, espically for artists However, this game can be played in a large group, thus evening out the odds and it also makes a great and funny party game. I give this one a strong recommendation, it's a lot of fun and challenging too.

My only complaint is that once you've mastered the letter set, you keep finding the same sets of words over and over and over again. We need additional letter-cubes! Also, my wife and I play unusual rules -- no time limit. (We both usually agree to stop after 10-15 minutes). Also, you will learn fewer new words with Boggle than with Scrabble, simply because the options are fewer. However, this is a better game to play with younger kids who can get frustrated and bored with Scrabble but will love the faster pace of Boggle.
What happened to big boggle??
Best game ever invented 1. Teaches spelling, of course You can handicap the game, for instance, adults have to find words of 5+ letters while kids play 3+ letters, so that people of different ages can play together.

Fun play rug All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase. It seems a durable, colorful rug. It's long, providing lots of play space. Its no-slip backing should provide safety on tile or wood floors (though we have it on the carpeted floor of our living room). The best aspect? Our daughter keeps her blocks and cars on the rug--instead of everywhere else underfoot. ... Read more

The best game out there period
Fun, educational, and hilarious word game
Wordsmithing at it's Finest I think the best part of the game is when you invent a new defintion of a word and make it sound so good that you get all of the votes. Where did this idea for a game come from? Some genuis somewhere needs to promote this game more to get it out there. Again, for simple fun and a quick after dinner game on a calm evening, Balderdash is the game of choice.
Great Game for the Conman! The way the actual definitions are written on the cards is so varied that it truly can be difficult to guess the correct definition. This is great fun for families and friends, it's an especially great way for children to increase their vocabulary, allthewhile having a blast.

For fun, Monopoly rates 5 stars because you can play it and play it and never get tired of it. It's also a great game no matter how many people play it. Ever since I've been playing it, I have never gotten tired of it, which is a rare thing since most board games eventually get boring. For educational value, Monopoly also rates 5 stars. There aren't really a lot of games out there that teach you how to manage money the way this game does. You can own a heap of properties and then go bankrupt as quickly as anything, showing you how fast you can lose money. Monoploy also teaches you to spend your money carefully and wisely. And finally for durability, Monopoly gets 5 stars once again. We have an edition that is about 17 or 18 years old and it's still going and is in pretty good condition considering it's age. In short, Monopoly is one of my all time favourite games and is one of the best ever made.
Only with my brother! Anyway,I've only finished this game twice. Once was in 1998 and me and my brother stayed up until five AM playing it--so we were essentially playing it around four hours. If it's a rainy day with nothing to do and you have older children, it's okay. But otherwise, it's really to long to even bother with.
Fun Game for the whole Family! ~*Melissa~*
