Live long and-- no wait, that's not right...
I just know you're gonna laugh at me when I tell you why I decided to get this little guy. It ain't due to my fandom of any of the Gundam shows; I haven't seen episode one of any of the series, or any of the movies. It might have a little to do with my finding the super-deformed look of this toy kinda cool-- it's cute, but in a macho, geekin' kinda way-- but it ain't the main reason why. Nope, the main reason I got this little runt is because of his extra set of red 'Spock-salute' hands; I thought he'd look kinda neat standing next to my Spock action figure, imitating his gesture. Now you know just how barren an existence I lead. I could at least try to hang out with the guys and make some effort to pick up a few chicks at the local clubs. But NO, I just gotta check out the latest cool-looking collectible tchochkes like the pathetic geekin' loser that I am, and write smart-@$$ customer reviews about them in a sad and fruitless attempt to fill the void where my social life should be. But do any of you care? Of course you don't! You don't give two doots one way or the other, do you, you heartless scumbags?! Oh dear God, just kill me now and get it over with! I'm SICK I tell you! SICK!!!

All right, time to leave the pity party and get on with the review. While I found this guy's articulation (poseability) superior to the imported SD Gundam snap-together models I own, I also discovered all those armor plates and other "kibble" keep the ol' Burninator from having a really good range of movement. And his rubberized plastic weapons aren't all that easy to fit into his rubberized plastic fist hands. 'Course, this could be seen as an upside, 'cuz you don't hafta worry so much about the swords slippin' outta his hands and gettin' lost-- which is something I've had problems with when it comes to my SD model figures.

Also notable is the toy's jet backpack which, when the jet part is pushed down, pops open the 'bots wings and opens up a chest panel and reveals a glowing red light underneath. The winged jetpack is detachable, but I couldn't tell you whether or not it's interchangeable with accessories from other figures in the SD Gundam line. Articulation points include a rotating head, shoulders, forearms just above the elbows, and wrists. The elbows also bend, and the hips and ankles are ball-jointed, allowing for quite a bit of free movement-- were the aforementioned "kibble" not in the way...

My ratings breakdowns:

Fun Factor: Three stars. The aforementioned limited range of movement in spite of surprisingly extensive articulation takes quite a bit of play value outta the little runt. He ain't half-bad as a display piece, though.

Durability Factor: Four stars. So long as you remember to replace the battery that powers the red chest light, this guy should hold up pretty well. A significant portion of this toy is made out of rubberized plastic (including all four hands, both swords, and the crests of the 'bot's kabuto "helmet"), especially those parts that, were they made of hard plastic, would likely break off if the toy were dropped onto the floor.

Educational factor: Two stars. Other than being an excellent object lesson why Japanese-designed toys are so much cooler-looking than American-designed ones, this thing probably ain't gonna help tutor you in those classes you're havin' trouble with...

"Zako!" "Zako!" "Zako!" "The Zako Zako" "Review!"
The first thing that struck me was how small the figure was. I'd had the same reaction to the other figures, but since the Zako is supposed to be smaller then the main cast it really strikes you here. The smallness isn't a bad point though, since it all adds up to cuteness. The Zako comes with three acessories- a machine gun, a heat hawk (an axe) and body armour.
Since the Zako remains closest to the original design that it's based on, the accessories follow suit. The machine gun and heat hawk look like scaled down versions of their Zaku used counterparts. The machine gun has a support handle sticking out at the front, but it's useless since the figure can't be posed holding the gun with both hands.
The third and largest accessory is the body armour. As mentioned above, the TV show features something called the Zako Zako Hour. These are short little comedy segments hosted by the Zakos at the end of most episodes which explain certain aspects to the viewer. One of the jokes introduced in these segments is the naked Zako, where a Zako was hit so hard that it's armour popped off and revealed the skeleton-like body underneath. This idea is replicated by the toy. The armour comes in two pieces, front and back, and snaps onto the figure. Pushing the head down will make it pop-off. It's not much, but it's a nice little way to include a feature from the show and fill up packaging space. The armour is well sculpted and fits perfectly with the rest of the figure. The only off part seems to be the shield on the right shoulder. In the show, they're squatter wheras on the toy they're longer like on the standard Zaku. However, it's not too bad and doesn't take much away from the toy.
The trade off for the removeable armour is a lack of movement. Whilst the inner skeleton can pull off some poses, the armour pieces restrict movement especially on the arms. I've gotten used to this on the SD line but knowing how much movement the body can pull off it's a shame to lose it.

In closing, I'd say the Zako is a decent figure. It's certainly got the largest potential out of all the characters so far to be appealing to both fans of the show and fans of the older Gundam stuff. It's been nicely designed and nicely produced. It combines a popular design with cuteness factor. If you love the Zaku or the Zako, get one today. ... Read more

RX-79(G) Ez-8 Master Grade Model
This model was GREAT! I enjoyed the hours it took to build this, and it was DEFINATELY worth it! When it comes to durability, it's incredible: I mean, you can hold it up by a single leg and it'll keep the shape you put it in. The interior skeleton keeps it sturdy and in shape. It's got many features, all of them more amazing than the last. The only things difficult about it were not breaking putting on the decals (they put them so close to each other, it's hard to get down JUST the one you need), and not breaking the really frail piece that goes with one of the guns. Overall, it's astounding. Looks good, handles good, and is durable too. I reccomend it to any model builder who's built at least one or two previously.

Moving up the Scale
If you are a casual Gundam model builder, you're probably used to a decent level of deatail and an average challengle in your models. This is where the building gets tough. The EZ-8 isn't impossible to construct, but it is frustrating at times. When you complete the model, you'll be happily pleased with its high level of detail and wide array of extras not seen in the HG version. If you want to build it right, the EZ-8 will take you at least 4 hours to assemble. Don't be frightend because the time flies when your building it. Overall the model is amazing complete with lots of weapons, a mountable storage pack, a detailed inner skelaton, and many more features. I recommend this to any experienced gundam model builder. ... Zaku review
Zaku and other Gundam Moblie suit are not really meant to be a toy. The parts a fragile. But for people who enjoy making models, this is a great choice.

A steal
This model is a very good buy for the great detail in the model but the fact that it costs less than the endless waltz series gundams when they were still out makes this a steal and a must for fans who don't already have it.

this is a great kit for experts
This is a great kit it is a master grade thats why its so pricy. very good for zaku fans. since these grades are rare in the us to find at a local toy shop you should get one. Fun: it is cool because you get to build your figure and put it in stands but if you want to play with it you should get a MSIA mobile suit in action than this. Education:The instructions are mind bending but not impossible it takes skill to build and I gave it a 3 because after that it's just a figure, but that's my opinion. durability: once built it's pretty steady since zakus have good armor in video games. But one drop in the wrong place means a few pieces coming off. Those can be put back on though and master grade molds are strongger than high grades. So its a great figure check out the other models by searching for "gundam" or "zaku" for this ground force zaku or a red one for ace pilots. ... Read more

Better than the Japanese Gashapon
Wow, I couldn't beleve the details these SD series r (Feddie & Neo Zeon Cruisers) when compared to the Japanese gashapon. The SD figures are highly detailed - except for the panel lining (none). However, the colors...how vivid and clean...are precise and accurate (for example, the black paint of the bottom feet section of the Nu Gundam stays ONLY at the feet, w/o spreading on the upper portion, etc.). I've quite a few # of the Japanes capsules, and same can't be said on those :( OTOH, though the cruisers are colored in the same superb manner, the missing of the panel lining is the only con of the toys. Thus for those Gundam freaks out there, buy the panel lining pen and put those linings in on the cruisers for sure!!! I give it a 4 stars on educational value IFF you want to know more 'bou Japanese comic/manga culture, and especially if u r into Gundam history. Otherwise, it would've been a big "0" for those who don't really care :( The coolest thing of this toy (even when compared with the Neo Zeon Cruiser) is that there is a missile launcher (with a missile in the pkg) in the Ra Calium front (hidden), though the firing power of this whimpsy plastic part's quite weak...Odd, I don't recall a missile launcher in the Ra Calium front in CCA...and how did that pass the safety board (it's a bit risky for young children)? Anyhow...with the lack of many Nu Gundam figure in the SD series (compare to G Gundam and 0080/0083), this you definitely should purchase! Same "excellent quality" can be said on the NU Gundam HWS SD figure (not available in Amazon/Toy R Us yet, but available elsewhere). ... Read more

Rising gundam,A neo japan fighter!
This is it!The coolist gundam ever made,I mean, even compared to burning gundam,IT IS SWEET. The bow is so cool, the bow parts can go in backwards and make a claw. The sholder pads are hard to get on,but its possibule if you have got 2 HOUERS,and when thay say lance, thay mean japanes lance, wich is a blade. All in all it is cool!

The Rising Gundam
This Gundam is one of four from Neo Japan. First the large shoulder pads can be a shield when connected to the arrow thing on the left arm. Second the blue things on the arrow can fall off if your not careful. The lance on the back can fall off its holder. The gun looks a little small. It is very durable. The art work is very good. It looks kind of like the Dark Gundam and Shining Gundam. All in all it is a very good gundam and I think you should get it. ... Read more
