Great fun! Better than Vertibird.
This is better than the original vertibird copters from the 70's. This chopper flies just as well and also has sounds and lights. I always read horror stories about the quality and/or durability of this toy but I say if you don't crash it constantly and take care of it it will last for years.
I just can't stop!!!
I am 13 years old and just got this for my Birthday.I can't stop playing with it!This toy is about practicing your balance and piloting.It also teaches you that patience makes perfect.Good durability.Good battery usage.Tons of fun Highly recomended!!!
Extremely shoddy workmanship
We bought this for our 8 year old son for Christmas. Before Christmas, I pulled it from the box to remove extra packaging, put batteries in it, etc. I as appalled at the quality.
1. The 2 largest stickers, under the control levers and on the landing pad, were put on crooked. In both cases, the stickers hung out over and edge and were severely frayed. It looked awful.
2. The sticker under the landing pad had a few defects and lots of bubbles under it. Maybe I'm just picky here.
3. The helicopter was flimsy, poorly molded, and had lots of excess plastic hanging off it.
4. The helicopter rotor was very warped; it couldn't fly.
5. The 'accessories'; various items you could pick up with the helicopter's hook; were all also poorly molded.
I spent quite a bit of time with a razor blade trimming the stickers, and was able to make them look okay. I also trimmed the excess plastic from the helicopter. I was able to carefuly bend out most of the warp in the rotor. We threw away almost all the accessories.
Christmas morning, it was excitedly opened and played with. Fortunately my son didn't notice the remaining flaws, it was just a cool toy for him. For 1 day.
1. There is a clip near the helicopter that attaches it to the control arm that quickly worked loose and required constant fixing.
2. A minor collision broke the rotor at a weak point in it's molding.
3. A solder joint for the wire that drives the rotor broke, so now the rotor doesn't spin. It's unfixable.
With the sum of it's failures, I find it impossible to believe that we got "a bad one". It's poorly designed, and carelessly assembled. Stay away from this one and all of it's variations from the same company.
