Even electronic toys have gone extreme. Kids love the original Bop It, an electronic toy that challenges response time to pull, twist, and bop different parts of the toy. As you get better, the game moves faster until you miss a beat and lose, accompanied by a fair amount of noise and ridicule from the toy. The Best game!
Bop it Extreme 2 is the best! My sister got it for her birthday but, I love playing it! Before I could only get 1 or 2 but, now I have 38.
I play it when I wake up, when I have extra time, & before I go to bed!
I like all the things you can play on it and, that it has a volume control and, that it tells you what the high score is.
This game is really fun! People should purchase this item.

Bop it extreme 2 vs Bop it extreme
Hi, I'm a 19 years old college student attending UCSD. I live in a suit with other students and we use to hang out, but we got nothing to do. I decided to buy this toy to promote some social interactions. To my surprise, everybody just jumps in and have a blast. We played endless Pass it! games. It REALLY trains your reflex skill. I find it so much fun that I had to write a review, which I rarely do.

As for the difference between the Bop It Extreme and the Bop It Extreme 2 versions.(I had this question when I buy this toy)
1) The Bop It Extreme 2 version has 3 levels of volume, while the Bop It Extreme has one LOUD volume.
2) The Bop It Extreme 2 has an earphone jack for personal enjoyment, while the Bop It Extreme doesn't.
3) The Bop It Extreme 2 TELLS you at the end your score(i.e. "You scored forty-eght"), while the Bop It Extreme plays different sounds to denote score(i.e. "whistle, whistle, rachet, rachet, rachet, drum, drum, drum, drum"). Hence requiring you to count and decipher which sound worth more points than other.
4) The Bop It Extreme 2 has more music than the Bop It Extreme as advertised.
5) The Bop It Extreme 2 has rubber grip and better grip-mold for the Spin it! wheel.
6) The Bop It Extreme 2 just looks much cooler, hands down! :D

Playing this game Solo is fun, but get together w/ your friends and you all will have a BLAST!

NOT soooo great,
VERY,VERY noisey. It is hard for me to get a high score. They whant you to do it so fast. (Yes, I know a game should be challinging.) And to tell you it takes a odd number of batterys,3 of 'em. One time the batterys got corroded so it made it hard to get out. I never did play with it again. The sound got scratchy too. (...)I do not recomend any of the Bop It toys to anyone.

So much better then Extreme 1!
Wow! This is a pretty fun game. The original was so loud and annoying, and the speaker was tinny. Bop it Extreme 2, though a little easier, is so much better. It also has a Bop It button that is less prone to getting accidentally hit.

EXTREME fun for all ages!!!
Bought as a gift for my son, the whole family has enjoyed this unique little gizmo. I can't help but think that this must help with thinking skills. Totally portable, it's a favorite at sleep-overs... it's even more popular than Gameboy, and that's saying something. A very healthy family game! ... Read more

Ever play "Hot Potato" with a spud that ticks and talks? Welcome toElectronic Catch Phrase, the battery-powered (three AAA, not included) blend ofclue deduction and race against the clock. Two teams of two or more players eachalternate turns, guessing the answers to clues in 11 categories, from Food &Drink to Tech & Inventions. Set the timer on the discus-like game unit, and theclue-giving countdown begins; if a team's guess matches the response on thegame's readout, pass the unit to the opponents. Just don't get caught holdingthis potato when the buzzer sounds (after about a minute of increasinglyinsistent beating), as the other team will score a point, possession being nine- tenths of the "Awww!" 5-0 out of 5 stars A Nerve-Wracking, Yet Highly Contagious Game
"Catch Phrase" is one of the many cool things I have discovered since being in college. I'll bet hardly anyone has heard of it (no one had heard of it where I come from anyway), but it is one of the most contagious games around.

The premise of the game is simple: After setting the timer, your team has to guess what word or phrase is visible on the screen. The unit cannot be passed until someone says exactly what is on the screen. When someone does guess correctly, you pass it on to a member of the other team.

For example, if the word was "pumpkin," you could say something along the lines of, "Okay, guys, Peter-Peter-blank-eater!" If someone has been keeping up on their nursery rhymes, he or she will know that the word in place of "blank" is "pumpkin." Make sense?

This game is a blast when you get a huge amount of people to play. About a month ago, around 20 of us were playing it at the same time. Good times there, folks!

Fun: Fun, fun, FUN. I can't reiterate it enough. It's interesting to see how nervous people get when the timer starts beeping faster; hence, the buzzer is about to go off. For some reason, people get really panicky when the pressure starts to build. It's only a game, people! Of course, you don't realize that at the time. Everyone is yelling out answers, and with all the excitement going on, your heartbeat can rise in a hurry.

Educational Value: This is a thinking game. That's the only way I know how to put it. You have to think about what it is your teammate is trying to say without he or she actually coming out and saying it. And they're not all as easy as "pumpkin." There are some real stumpers in this game, and that only adds to the fun (or frustration depending upon what side you're on).

Durability: This game is very durable. Just don't drop it! It probably wouldn't hold up very well since this is the electronic version.

In short, "Catch Phrase" is a very cool game. It's great to play with a lot of people, and it never gets boring. I've played this numerous times, and I always have interesting stories to tell the next day.

Best.....Party.....Game.....EVER!
I really can't fid anything wrong with this game. There are 10,000 words, so if you find a repeat word, it is incredibly rare. The educational value isnt that good, but, it isn't a game you buy for educational value. You buy it for fun, and that's what it delivers. Everyone will be laughing at the hilarity of some of clues. If you haven't already, buy this game.

Awesome!!!!
I fell in love with this game ever since I saw my parents and their friends playing it at a New Years Eve party. The game is great for both kids and adults. There's even a 'Family' category, which gives easier words to guess. No matter how old you are, you're bound to love it!
The only annoying thing about it is the sound, which you can't turn off or down. But if you lay it flat on the table or put your hand over the speaker while you play, then it's more than bearable.
Probably the best thing about this game is that you can bring it anywhere. It's just one little electronic game. No cards, game pieces, or anything else.
I would definitely recommend it for everyone!

Great Adult Game
We bring this game where-ever we go. We even gave one to my sister-in-law. All of us adult cousins will play once the kids are in bed. We even got my mother-in-law in one game. And she loved it. Some questions test your knowledge. Others are real simple. Sometimes we rhym especially if we can't think of anything else. The one I remember: answer was Long Johns - our Rhym was Slong Bongs. We still laugh over that clue! This is one gift we always give for Wedding Showers and Birthdays. The electronic version is so much better than the other cause all you have is one piece - very portable and packable. I guarantee you'll love it. We take ours everywhere!

Great Party Fun
This is the updated version of the original CATCHPHRASE. Instead of having cards to insert into the slot and also keep score, this electronic version takes all the fun of the classic game and updates it with 10,000 words and phrases, timer and scoring device in an all-inclusive, easy-to-carry electronic unit. This fast paced game of words and phrases lets players rattle off as many clues as they can until somebody on their team yells out the answer. Players keep passing the game unit as they talk and try not to get caught holding it when the buzzer sounds. This fast-paced game is perfect party entertainment. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny!!
I think the game is a great value! I mean for the price you can't go wrong. At first the joystick felt a little arkward while playing pac-man, but now I'am use to it. I also would have preferred that the reset button be on the side or back of the console because I find myself hitting it by mistake. But overall... I think it's the next best thing to the original arcade version. After Pac-Man, my next favorite game is Dig Dug and playing that game just brought back a lot of memories. It seems soooo authentic!! For the price I am so impressed. I only wish that Ms. Pac Man worked as well as Pac-Man. I was about to purchase Ms. Pac Man but after reading the reviews I think I'll wait until Namco comes out with a new and improved version.

4-0 out of 5 stars 80's flashback
Wow! This is so fun! It works so well and is so easy to install. This is fun for the whole family, we all love to play the games. Graphics are good, joystick works well. It reminds me of going to arcades when I was young...

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest Toy in Years
Its about time this was created, ITS the most Superb thing I have played in years.

5-0 out of 5 stars really fun, don't forget the batteries
at first i wasn't sure about buying this toy, but i did, and i have absolutely no regrets about it. it cost me about 18 bucks, and i know that i would have spent WELL over 18 bucks if i'd played these games in the arcade as many times as i've played them at home. there was one game on there i'd never heard of (bosconian), but it turned out to be the best one. the only one i don't really like is galaxian, it's kind of boring. but the rest are great. it takes 4 aa batteries, and when they start to go dead the picture gets funny. the batteries are not included so don't forget to buy them like i did. i would recommend this toy to anyone who likes video games, and some people who normally don't. i gave it a couple stars for educational because video games help hand-eye coordination, etc, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun as hell
Alot of people gave this guy bad reviews on it's shoddy quality. I don't know if I just got a good unit or not, but I've been playing this thing almost everyday since I got it a month ago and have had 0 problems. Not only have I not had to replace the batteries once (I guess these old games don't suck up much), but it's held up through my various slams and harsh playing styles. So, I guess I'd say..buy where you can return it (i.e. not on ebay), but don't hesitate purchasing it based on the bad reviews. ... Read more

Simon says, "Would you like to play a game?" Or seven? With Simon 2, thenext generation of the classic electronic sequencing game, players can play thetraditional Simon challenges against the machine or they can turn over the unitfor head-to-head play with a human opponent. All seven games are variations onthe ingenious original: an ever-increasing sequence of signals, denoted by theflashing and beeping colored buttons, must be repeated by alternating opponents.Complete with nonscuff rubber feet, and powered by three AA batteries (notincluded), Simon 2 features adjustable skill levels on most of the games (asequence of as few as eight or as many as 31, for example). Awesome Homeschool Tool
As I type this message, my husband is playing Simon2 with our two oldest children, ages 3 and 4. They have been at it over an hour and are still having a blast!

As a homeschooling family, we look for toys that will reinforce skills that we are teaching, challenge our children and that are fun! This toy has it all! Even my youngest, who just turned 2 enjoys playing this game. He is too young to really understand it, but loves the lights and music!

The older children benefit from having an adult speak the color pattern out as they play, such as, "blue, blue, yellow, etc". We've found it to meet the needs of all learning styles when used in this way! I would definately recommend this toy to other families! And an added bonus, is that it's fun for the parents to pass the time with as well.

Great place to buy from
My first trip to buy presents on-line was great! I believe I made a great purchase and both my children have enjoyed it.

Returned Twice
We purchased this toy for our 10 year old son and he enjoyed playing with it. However, after just a few hours of play the buttons started sticking or not registering when you pushed them so you couldn't "win" or move up.

We returned the toy and got a new one and the same thing happened with just a few hours of play. We returned it a second time and got our money back. Not a lot of fun if it doesn't work. I would not recommend.

Didn't last two weeks
This is a very fun toy, but unfortunately, it completely died after only two weeks. It wasn't ill-treated, but one day we tried to start a game and one light just turned on permanently. I took out and replaced the battery, and it hasn't shown any sign of life since.

Simon? Rights for kids?
Simon, this was given to my older 12 year old sister. She would play this but she doesn't really enjoy this. Now for me a nine year old I enjoy it. Though I cant play it . I cant play it for one reason and one reason only : sister won't let me play it. Now if I were dropped off from outer space and asked well nicely imonlynot nice to her) then I could play. My point is a nine year old like me enjoys this and a twelve year old like my sister may or may not enjoy this game. I thank you for reading my opinion. Now since I have no clue as to what younger kids might think I agree they like it. ... Read more

We're groovin', we're movin', we're boppin'! This hilarious game requires speedy reflexes and a rhythm section in the brain!Musical and spoken commands instruct players to "Twist it! Pull it!Bop it! 4-0 out of 5 stars Bop It - Is it a game or is it real?
So, I'm minding my own business, doing my work, when my boss runs up to me with Bop It. "You've got to try this!" he demands, a maniacal look in his eye. I gingerly take the odd plastic toy. It looks like some tribal weapon, a misshapen club. My boss smacks the large "Bop It!" button, and immediatly the thing starts emitting a drum beat. Convinced it's possessed by some ancient god, I'm about to cast it away when it yells, "Bop it!" I instinctively hit the button. The drums continue. "Pull it!", the toy barks. I desperately yank on one end. The drums continue. "Twist it!" is the next command. Twist what?! I panic, then make a grab for the little twister device on the other end. "AAAaargh!!!" yells the machine, like a man falling off a caldera into molten lava. I was too late! The drums stop.

My hands shaking, I put the toy down.

5-0 out of 5 stars Teacher excited about Bop-It
Bop-It has been an excellent addition to my first grade classroom. This game is in high demand each morning as students actually wait in a line to play! What's most exciting is while students think they're simply playing a fun game, they are also enhancing their eye-hand coordination as well as their auditory skills. This is a game that parents and children can play together and both enjoy! Bop-It, a durable and relatively inexpensive toy, is one I would highly recommend to game lovers of all ages.

Great game for many ages
Bop-it is a very fun game for many people. It tests your reflexes in a fun way. It's also nice it has so many different games to play.

Bop It For Road Trips!
I had no idea Bop It was so much fun. I am a mom of 4, my oldest is a nine yr old boy. He got this for Christmas last year.We went on a 9 hour road trip over the summer. My son decided to bring Bop It. I thought it might distract my husband while he was driving, the only distraction was that he wanted to play.I couldn't resist myself. We ended up having a contest to see who could get the farthest. My son won with a score of 99. It is a great toy for concentrating and motor skills.Even my 5 year old played, though he was a little young for it. It was an absolute blast. We played with it for hours. I should mention that my kids chose to play this over there game boy advances for almost the entire trip!

It never dies !

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best toys EVER!!!
Now, mind you, this is coming from the perspective of a twenty-something. My friends and I are all addicted to this game. So, it's a big crowd pleaser with young adults, and even adults who wish they were young. However, it's also a lot of fun for older children.

I would not advise buying this toy for a young child, because it requires a lot of fine motor skills, coordination, and concentration. The premise is simple. The game talks and tells you to do one of five things: bop it, flick it, spin it, twist it, and pull it. The game tells you to do one of these things, and then you pick the part that corresponds to it (they are labled with the same names) and perform the required action (ie, if it tells you to "pull it" you pull the little blue thing).

Amazon has provided an online version of Bop It Extreme that you can try out for yourself to see what I mean. However, be warned. The online version seems to be a lot easier than the real thing for some reason.

This game is challenging, and will force you to play it over, and over and over...

You won't regret buying this game, whether it is for yourself, or for an older child. Oh, unless you are a parent and hate loud toys. There is no volume control on this toy, so you will be annoyed. Fair warning. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Commands will Haunt your head!
I never imagined how addictive or fun this toy would be from seeing the ads alone, then one day my friend got it and threw it at me to try. I was instantly hooked and had to get one.
Its a great toy to train focus and speed thinking along with great eye/hand/ear coordination. The pace and variety of moves (spin, flick, pull, bop, twist) keeps the game challenging and interesting for a long time.
Aside from regular solo Bop-it, there is also Bee-bop (instead of verbal commands, sound effects only are used), and the best part is the "group play" in which "pass it" is added to the commands and you dont want to be the one who gets stuck with it and screw up. (and yes, the toy will taunt you!) This is always a lot of fun to play in groups, especially if everyone jams along with the beat.
With all that said, you will annoy most other people in the room with the noise this toy makes...unless you let them play, and then everyone will have those sound effects and beat box running through their heads!!!

bop it EXTREME
I'm just a kid so I know fun. My best friend Lauren came over to play and brought her brother"s bop it extreme in case we got boarded. We ended up playing it for most of the tiime and she was over for 3&1/2 hours. This toy is really, Really, REALLY FUN. It's great for kids of all ages. My friend Lauren's little sister Allie can play it and she's only 3( she's really good too!) I recomend this toy for any person age 3 and up. If(when) you buy it you won't regret it because this to will ROCK YOUR WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Play the original first before this one
I like the game .People say its great. In my opinion,it's good but its not great. This was the 1998 sequel to Bop It(1996).plus,there was a sequel to the Bop It- Extreme:Bop It-Extreme 2(2002 or 03).Since this was the 2nd bop it,this has 5 actions:Pull it,twist it,bop it,spin it and flick it instead of 3.the game is a little too hard.I can never get the high score. The game is even more nuts when there is sounds instead of words. This is fun it's just that i'd rather you buy bop it before this one

Ain't the thing I was expecting,
Hi ya people, once again I got a nother toy. It is kind of fun in a way. Now, on to the review. In a way it is fun. I mean, sheesh, go buy bop it extream 2. This thing don't even have something to make it SHUT$& ! Yeah, there is'nt much differince in the game thingies. No diff at all. Next to that bop it extrem 2 has a head phone plug to lisin and play without disterbing anyone. Now, bop it extrem before you play choose what setting you want. I know beep-bop solo is when you play by yourself. Bop box is when you here tunes and noises. I don't know about the other settings. They ain't all that challenging. I bet you are wondering how to turn it off. Well, after you lost put it down gentley and it is automaticley shut off. So I recomend bop it extrem 2 more than I recomend bop it extrem. One of the best toys for adults as well as kids
Simon is an excellent tool for improving memory. It stimulates the mind and provides great satisfaction along the way. The handheld version is compact and can easily be carried around in your pocket. I absolutely love it and whenever I am a little down, I play with it and immediately forget my troubles. I recommend this to all kids and especially to adults who are having trouble remembering.

this game is great
I remember the old big simon game - we used to play for hours. My son (8 years old) just got this one and he love it. It is just as addictive as is was years ago and while he thinks it's fun - I think it's great for building memory and concentration skills. It's so hard to find a toy thats fun and educational - this one is!!!

Fun and education in one fascinating package
As the clinical director of an outpatient mental health facility for children, I was constantly looking for new ways to engage the youngsters in therapy. One day I brought my son's Simon to the office, and the kids were mesmerized. The clinical staff found Simon to be especially effective in working with children with attention deficit disorder; it helped them to focus and concentrate their attention long enough to engage them in other therapeutic activities such as play therapy and art therapy. Simon was such a hit that we developed a waiting list for using it and had to order four more. My son's original Simon is still going strong after ten years of use (and umpteen battery changes). This is a really great toy that has stood the test of time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars fun music
I bought this toy for my 10-year-old son for Christmas, and he loves it. The toy has several sound settings (different sound effects). They make the sound when struck in the air. The last 3rd of the drum sticks is rubbery, and my son has managed (somehow) to avoid actually hitting any furniture. Encourages musical play for children who have difficulty learning instruments. Highly recommended.

Lost user manual / instruction sheet
My 10 year old daughter really likes this toy. It's a lot of fun. But I agree that it is impossible to play without the user manual/instructions. We lost the user manual but I just called Mattel and they sent it to us electronically. In the US: 800-524-TOYS (800-524-8697) In Canada: 800-665-6288. They also said they could mail it to us if we had problems getting from our email. Mattel was VERY helpful!! Don't give up on this toy. It can be really fun if you take the time and use the instructions!

Fun game
I bought this game for my husband for Christmas and he loves it. He is having a lot of fun playing the game.

TERRIBLE CHEAP TOY-
I bought this for my son- thought it would be fun for the car-but WRONG! Cheaply manufactured toy, it came and it looked like something that had been on the clearance shelf for years. Vibrating barely moved, and the sound was warped sounding. It never worked. LUCKILY I opened it BEFORE his birthday to put batteries in and I realized how BAD this game was so I was able to dump it before I was embarrassed in front of him by giving him such a LOSER of a toy for his birthday. ...

David's Review
I really enjoyed playing this game because their was fun action and it kept me going for hours without getting bored.

Disappointing Pinball
No one expects the feel of real pinball or even computer pinball with a unit like this, but this electronic game was a disappointment. The loud vibration keeps going on so long each time that it doesn't seem to have any real correlation with what set it off. The vibration seems to serve no useful purpose other than irritation, but there's no way to turn it off. The flippers get stuck frequently (there are upper and lower flippers) and is frustrating because you keep pushing the button, but the flipper doesn't move until after the ball is lost. I'd find another electronic handheld game if I were you. ... Read more
