If your child (or your budget, or your yard) is too small forone of those monstrous cedar outdoor play structures, check out theHide & Slide Climber, a miniature version of the same idea. Itsbrightly colored (yellow, red, teal, and purple) plastic sections snaptogether quickly, and they won't rot. A red 40-inch slide leads downfrom a platform 26 inches high; underneath there's a crawling andhiding space. It's very stable--the two large "feet" on the side panelsmake the unit almost 60 inches wide. Requires adult assembly, but not asecond mortgage. --Richard Farr ... Read more

Hide & Slide Climber by Little Tikes
I like the product for its durability, but thought the kids (age 1 & 2 1/2) would play with it more. I think it is a little overpriced for what you get.

Happy Mommy
I just got this climber/slide! My 17 month old went nuts over it! It's perfect for my little girl to do her favorite thing (climb) and she figured out how to sit and slide with no problems. It fits great in her playroom and feels very sturdy. I am very pleased with this purchase. My favorite things about it are all the giggles, squeals and smiles! Yay Little Tikes!

Baby loves Hiding and Sliding
I bought this slide when my son was 14 months old. He loves it. We keep it inside since it is so cold and wet outside right now. It doesn't take up *too* much room in spare bedroom. He loves climbing up and down the steps. He is learning the steps of how to slide (1st sit down, then get one foot in front, then the other, then scooch forward). Just as the product name implies, he loves hiding under it and surprising me and playing peekaboo around the corners. It was a snap to put together maybe 15 minutes tops - if a piece is fitting too snuggly follow the directions and put a little soap on it to help it snap into place. I think son will enjoy this product for some time!

Perfect for little climbers!
Santa left this piece of equipment for our 15 month old son who was beginning to climb on everything. It was the first thing he saw on Christmas morning and was overjoyed. He spent a half hour exploring and climbing on it right away. He loves to play peekaboo and hide things on the top shelf or underneath.
We put it together in our (admittedly oversized) playroom, so he can have a gross motor playtoy indoors for inclement days. Though a young child should always be supervised on any climbing apparatus, I did just order a gym mat for the bottom of the slide, as the angle is steeper than forty-five degrees and provides a fast ride with a quick stop. It's also a nice way for practicing going up and down stairs.

good for all ages
We bought this slide for our daughter's first birthday and she loves it! She had just mastered walking and was starting to climb on our furniture, etc. This slide provided a safe indoor climbing outlet and has improved her coordination immensely. Her older cousins love it too.

The features I like best are the platform at the top of the slide and the fact that there is a bit of thrill in the slope of the slide: The platform allows kids to safely hang out (and seems like a fort) and the slide is tall enough that it envokes lots of giggles!

Be careful where you set it up as it is VERY difficult to get through a standard door frame. ... Read more

Great!!
My daughter is a little climber and this suits her wonderfully. It is not too imposing so she doesn't want to try and not to babyish for her not to want to play on it.

The rock wall, to me, is better than traditional steps. I don't have to worry that her foot would slip and she will fall, catching her leg in the slats.

I'm glad I purchased this instead of the traditional slide.

Climb and Slide
I was a bit skeptical to purchase this Climb and slide set after reading the reviews, but decided to give it a try. We got it for my daughters 1st birthday so I was a bit ify to whether or not she'd be able to master the climbing part. It took her a whole 2 days! She's barely walking and can climb it like a champ. She loves this. It didnt take long at all to put together either, however, when putting it together, part of the plastic decking cracked a little bit. I called the little tikes phone # and they sent me a new part in 2 days!!! Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this and would recommend it. It also helps that if something is wrong, the Little Tikes customer service is very friendly and will help you out.

Great Toy For The Little Climber !
This castle was bought for my son xmas 2003, when he was just 15 months. Since he was already doomed to be a climber this was in instant hit.

I disagree strongly with a lot of remarks re the toy not having steps but the juts as we found all the children who we have to visit, until they can master this stage then they are not steady enough to be climbing this toy without help from an adult - and no way should they be left alone until they can climb this themselves should they not have adult supervision.

Overal its a great toy inside .. but I found once we have placed this outside in the summer its suddenly not being used.

I have to point out the reason we did move this outside was my little monkey of a son found this was moveable and he was dragging it to shelves etc which normally would have being totally unreachable to him without the help from his caste !!!!!

Hours of fun!
My son is 21 months old and absolutely loves this toy. It keeps him occupied for long periods of time because there is so much to do. He especially loves sliding and "driving" with the steering wheel. When he gets bored with that, he likes to make his cars and trucks go down the slide. This is a great indoor/outdoor toy because it isn't too big and it's light enough for me to pick up by myself and move it. It was also very easy to assemble. Overall, a great toy. The rock wall isn't too hard for him to maneuver, but is much easier when he is barefoot. My only real complaint is that I didn't buy this any sooner. It would have been great to have it inside when it was so cold this winter.

Great indoor climber
After doing some research on a small climber, I decided on the Little Tikes Climb and Slide Castle and it's been a BIG hit in our house. I have a very petite 13 month old who has just begun to climb on things and she loves this toy. She mastered the rock wall immediately which was my main concern. My daughter is on the climber all day long. My son also loves the climber and he is almost 4 years old. Although he is a little big for the slide, he still enjoys it and is getting just as much activity and exercise as his sister. Assembly was super easy, I did it myself in less than 10 minutes with children clamoring for me to hurry! The size of the climber is perfect if you do not have a lot of room indoors. We live in a small condo and we have it in our great room. At night we push it off to the side and you hardly notice it's there. All in all a great investment and a very fun toy for your little ones. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This bright red and blue slide is one of those backyard investments that children will incorporate into their play for years on end. The small four-step hike up to the top (36 inches high) makes it safe for toddlers, but the 60-inch-long slide will keep kids as old as 5 well entertained. A slight dip in the slide controls speed while adding a playful tummy-tickle feeling. Even after they turn 5 years old, children will probably find ways to use the slide in obstacle-course play and chase games. Because it's made of thick plastic, it can stay outdoors season after season without fading, rusting, or splintering. --Gail Hudson ... Read more

Great slide!
My twin girls got this slide when they were one. They learned very quickly how to get up the steps, get their feet in front of them, and slide down!! It is a little narrow, so getting their feet in front of them at that age was a little hard at first because they couldn't balance well. They learned fast and wanted to do it over and over again. This slide doesn't take up a lot of space, plus it folds, so it is great if space is limited. Ours is in the bakyard, and it is easy to clean and very durable. My girls love it, it helps with balance, and it is a classic fun toy! My girls are now almost 3, and they don't slide as much, but they still really love it (especially when the sprinkler makes it wet and they go FAST!)

A must for a busy toddler
I am a mother who is planning to move within the next month and I had plans on buying this toy once I moved to put in my backyard. I then received a coupon in the mail so I figured why not get it now. BEST MOVE I COULD HAVE MADE. This slide is so convenient, it folds right up and can be played with indoor and out. I had planned to hide it from my 2 year old, but she saw it. She literally sat next to it for hours waiting for it to be put together. I finally waited for her to go to bed before my mother and I put it together, which also was very easy to do, and she was so excited when she saw it the next morning. Needless to say the slide is still up in my mothers living room, and my daughter spends hours with it EVERYDAY. Not only does she enjoy it, but it really gives me peace of mind while she plays. LITTLE TIKES, YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN.

Great for indoor or outdoor
We use this toy as an indoor toy for my two year old. She loves to climb and slide on this. We started with the little slide and graduated to this big slide. Though it takes up alot of space inside, it is easy to fold up when we have company coming over or we just need the room. Great toy...........for either indoor or outdoor play.

Excellent Slide!
My 2 year-old daughter loves this slide along with all of her friends! It's a little large for indoors, if you have a small place, but we were able to find room and I'm glad we did! Can't wait to try it outside this summer. It's more difficult to assemble than we first thought, but well worth the effort!

WONDEFUL!
My daughter got this as a gift for her 2nd birthday. She LOVES it! It's great for coordination, packs up easily, and was easily assembled. The look of confidence and satisfaction she got as we cheered her going up and down the slide (also a great way to teach the concepts of up and down) makes the one the best toys she's had so far. ... Fun
Just got this slide for our almost 2-yr-old boy. It's fun and we like the natural look to it. I wish there was a little more room on top so my son could sit down better. Also handles on the sides on top would be useful.

Not safe enough for my standards!
I just thought I would mention to those in the process of looking for a slide for their small/younger child that this one to us doesn't seem safe enough! A parent or guardian should ALWAYS watch over their younger ones, especially when playing with these types of toys, but this one especially. We did not buy this slide, but had an almost terrible accident at a certain toy store in which it was set up for children to try out. Our two year old daughter loves slides, and is scared of nothing. But this slide gave her a terrible freight, and she wouldn't even go near it after. She climbed up, and went to sit, to slide down, when her bottom slid off the upper seating area, and she fell back. Luckily into my arms, since I always stand near her, when she is attempting something with heights (like slides) and since this one stands at least four feet tall, she would have fallen straight back onto the stores hard concrete floor smashing her head and back. There doesn't seem to be enough of a landing for small children to move, hold onto, and slide their bottoms up onto while they move into the sliding postion. Parents, as well as ourselves immediatly told store personal of the all most horrible accident had I not been there to catch her as she fell back. And have now removed it from their display! This had never happened yet to our daughter on any other slide, nor at a park (in which we visit everyday) But with this one slide, it is deffinate that the seating area at the top, and the area to hold onto to get into postion are just not safe enough for a child's age range starting at 24months, and up. Especially with that height. No grass or softer landing would have made the fall less scary, or unhurtful for a child. We are just so damn lucky that I was there to catch her. So just a warning!

Your neighbors will thank you
You know the house; there's one on every street. You can't really describe what the house looks like because all your eyes are attracted to are these brightly colored, huge, ugly plastic things all over the yard. Now you can't blame the parents because they simply wanted to buy some outdoor activity toys for their child. But what an eye sore. Now in walks the Step 2 Naturally Playful line to the rescue!

This line of outdoor toys are natural looking (hence, the name) They are designed to look like wood and stone (but they are still plastic, so don't hope for any miacles)

This slide was simple to assemble. I needed only a Phillips screwdriver and 5 minutes. The steps are a little steep (but then again my son is only 19 months and the recommended age is 24 mo), but it feels fairly sturdy. But the best things about this slide is how it looks---completely unobtrusive. In fact, when my eyes sweep over my yard, I sometimes don't even see it.

So give in join the ranks. The kids will love it (it's better than watching tv), and you can be rest assured that your house won't be "one of those houses"! :) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy for 2 year old
I got this for my 2 year old daughter and she has loved it from day one. It's of good quality construction and very light so it can be moved easily. She goes up the steps and down the slide or up the slide and down the steps !!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, colorful, very durable, and cute design from Chicco!
I recently purchased this item for my 2.5 yr old son after a thorough search for small indoor/outdoor slides. I am a HUGE fan of Chicco products and was very excited to see their new line of playground equipment. Their Happy Garden collection also includes a tomato playhouse, pumpkin sandbox, eggplant rocker, and peapod multiswing.

I saw a picture of this slide on another website and thought it's design (the handrails are shaped like smiling carrots) was very unique and different from other toddler slides on the market. This slide is made in Italy and is constructed of very thick, heavy-duty plastic so I expected a very high-quality product -- which is exactly what I got! When not in use, I can fold it and store it (a necessity in my small house). My toddler absolutely loves it, as does my 14-month-old (I help her up and down the slide). It's stable, just the right height, and easy for my toddler to climb. The only problem I have is that the slide itself is slightly steep; my son has had a few rough landings. I recommend constant supervision with this toy.

Overall, I am very pleased with the slide and hope to add more of Chicco's veggie playground equipment to my kids' collection. I'm sure it will provide many hours of enjoyment for my kids for years to come. ... Read more
