Great party opener!
I've had this game for about 8 years and am still bringing it to every party and every retreat I go to. It's hysterical to see how our really good singers (I'm in a Choir and other musical groups) can't get their tune recognized but our self-proclaimed tin ears somehow manage to. I hope they come out with some new cards soon though, I've been through mine now, and the "Contemporary" music category is a bit out-dated! Still, its a great, fun, party game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tons of Fun!!!
We have played this game with all ages ranging from 8-74. It is our favorite game to play when the family gets together. For those who feel inhibited about "humming", acting out the songs is a perfectly acceptable way to get the answer. It is a riot to see and hear the creative way we all "hum" of "la-la-la" or "do, do, do"!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best game ever!
I have played most trivia game that are on the market. And I can honestly say that this is the best game I have ever played. In fact, I can play this game with anyone. This game is mostly based on knowledge instead of trivia, so more people can enjoy it. I was also suprised by the number of questions - 4,200 - WOW! the categories are fun. I think this is the best. Once you try it you become addicted. We are planning on buying the Junior version for Christmas. That way the whole family can play together.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Game in a Long Time
Anyone who is a trivia fan is finally content with the McWiz2000. It has way more questions than any other game including trivial puirsuit!!! Personnaly, even though I really like trivia, I'm not all that good, but this game is accesible to anyone. The rules are simple and the categories are entertaining. I recommend it to everyone. I'm thinking of buying the junior version for my kids. Why isn't it in the stores??? Congratulations to the creators! It's great! ... Read more

The Game of Knowledge, which sports Trivial Pursuit-like design and directions, is stuffed with more than 1,500 brain-boggling questions and two sets of cards so that the whole family can play together: one set is for players ages 10 to 15; the other is for ages 16 and older. The goal is to answer one question correctly from each of six categories--Our World, Science, Nature, Sports, Media, and Fame--to earn six colored rings. The catch is that players can only collect rings if they answer questions correctly while positioned on one of the six Knowledge Bases.

The degree of difficulty between the sets of cards is slim enough to accommodate youngsters who want to challenge themselves by answering the questions meant for older players. "Which of these structures is tallest: the Eiffel Tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, or the Statue of Liberty?" If you answered, "the Eiffel Tower" (1,056 feet), you are correct. (By the way, parents, that was a children's question.) Here's one for adults: "Which epic poem tells of Odysseus' return to his homeland after the Trojan War: The Aeneid, The Iliad, or The Odyssey?" Your high-school English teacher is sighing in relief if you answered, "The Odyssey." --Cate Bick ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Shouldn't Be Promoted As An Educational Game
This has got to be the worst game I have ever purchased. I was not impressed with suicide questions and questions about hard rock bands etc., my children had not even a clue who these people were. I thought I would like the fact that their were 2 sets of questions. Family Trivial Pursuit would be a better choice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Educational and fun
This is a terrific game that preteens and adults can play together!Adult and child questions make it fun for the whole family.

Soooo much better than junky board games highlighting the latest character or movie hype! This is timeless!

2-0 out of 5 stars Incorrect Knowledge
While playing this game for the first time, and using less than one quarter of the supplied cards, our family found four cards with incorrect answers. For example, one card claimed that Grand Prix races take placenot on the road but on an oval track.Another claimed that radar, notsonar, uses sound waves to detect objects.Another spelled the Ebola virusas "E boli".The fourth card had an answer that was correct, butwas not the only correct answer, as was claimed. The makers of this gamewould do well to hire a fact checker.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not very pleased with this product
There were good and bad things about this product.I liked that it had easier questions for children, but the questions were a big problem. They asked like 3 questions on blue whales, and missed many other importantareas of science and nature.I found the adult questions to be laughablyeasy (there were a lot of true/false questions), or so obscure or unclearthat they were not "fair" questions.I think that a game liketrivial pursuit while it does not offer easier questions in the standardset for children, has much better thought out questions that are consistentand cover a broad range of topics!

2-0 out of 5 stars okay..
The game is good but the directions are not.We sat down to play the game but it took us a long time to understand the rules. ... Read more

It's rare indeed to come across a product that is truly engaging foradults of different generations, but Reminiscing Millennium is not only a fungame of trivia and memory, but a wonderful way to encourage people to swapstories about their lives. Using a collection of game booklets, each player (orteam) takes a turn at the spinner, then has to answer a "Flashback" question onthe decade that comes up. There are over 1,200 questions in the four books, andthe ease of answering them is based not just on one's knowledge ofentertainment, history, people, and pop culture, but in what decade you wereborn. An intriguing "point system" allows players to give each other a series ofhints for each question, and what's truly unique about this game is the optionto tell a story based upon the subject of the question for a game point. Theresult is an appealing mixture of trivia game and oral history, all in anattractive sepia-toned package that's great for a family reunion or just aninformal evening of intergenerational nostalgia. --John Longenbaugh ... Teams of Enemies is a fun game in which teams of players try to correctlyanswer trivia questions--the catch is that team membership changes with every roll of thedice. Areas of knowledge covered include the arts, sports, science, history, literature, andgeography. There are five separate ways to play, each with a unique recipe as to howteams are formed and questions formatted. In one game, the team captain selects a victim, then reads the trivia question aloud to all players. Players then choose whether or not tojoin the attack and offer their answers. In another version, the team captain reads thequestion and a list of possible answers to himself, and tries to determine how manycorrect answers will be given by the other players. Game rule options four and five divideplayers into two teams, and a roll of the dice determines the difficulty and questionformat for each team. In this intense game, players move forward and backward, teammembers shift alliances, competitive instincts flare, and hilarity reigns. When playersnear the final stretches of the game, solo play is invoked and players are forced to rely ontheir own wisdom to claim victory. The only minor problem is that the print on the triviacards is very small. --Tami Horiuchi ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Some of the best fun I have ever had.
Ever play a game with friends and half way through want to switch teams? Or Trade players? Or even want to change the rules? Well now you can with Teams of Enemies. Finding this game and playing was a real surprise and a real pleasure.

The game is actually five games in one and has 2 sets of rules depending on which way you want to play as friends or as enemies. While you can play with 2 players, teams 4 to 6 players per team make the game a better overall challenge and far more fun.

With the friends play game 1 is listing correct answers, 2 is the sequence of events, 3 is the 5 out of 7 correct, 4 had multiple choices and 5 is questions. When you change to the enemies those rounds have more challenges and a few changes.
In round 1 you can attack one player, games 3 you have to get 5 of 7 correct, but if you miss you can move back instead of forward. In game 4 and 5 players can switch teams or join multiple teams. Overall a great party game and makes a great gift for any occasion.

Team work is the key, but remember you may not know who your team is. While the game is rated for 12 year olds and above, younger players may need a little help with some the questions, Trivia games now have a new player in the neighborhood.

Lots of fun at parties!
I bought this game for my husband a couple of years ago, and we are regularly requested to bring it to parties. It seems to work best for groups of six to ten. The rules are somewhat difficult to get your head around at first--the directions are not great--but it's easy to understand with a practice round. Not only is the trivia good (and truly trivial), but for some of the categories you really have to have an understanding of the other people with whom you're playing, and how far you can push that understanding. Team-based games, especially trivia games, suffer from the "oh, god, I got stuck on the slow team" syndrome, and this particular game avoids that problem by giving you a "new" team with every round. My only real criticisms are that 1) there doesn't seem to be an expansion pack, to allow for further game play, and 2) the board is really too short. A typical game can last from thirty to ninety minutes. It's most fun when you're playing with an age-diverse group, and it's rather difficult to find a game that's truly fun for all ages, and that the entire family can enjoy. This game fits that bill to a T. No wonder it was "Game of the Year" in 2000!

My new favorite board game!
I'll never play Trivial Pursuit again. We love playing this game!

An absolute blast !!!
My friends and I loved this game! We liked the variety of questions and the five types of games. And the way the teams changed each round was cool. One particular friend of mine use to always win trivia games. Now the rest of us actually have a chance to win. We ended up playing the new rules on the game company's website. It's much easier to play and score than the rules included in the game. Can't wait to play again!

Party Disapointment
After reading the description on the box, my husband and I told all of our gaming friends about it and we were very anxious to try it out. We played a full game once and since then it has been relagated to the "read some cards and see who can shout out the answer" pile of games that only appears after many drinks and other entertainment options are winding down. The rules are very complex, and I think most of us hoped for more ability for "backstabbing" and more challenging questions. ... Read more

Outrageous headlines, some published, some not, are the basisof this game that refuses to take itself seriously. With over 300cards, and many hundreds of headlines, players will have to be on theirtoes to separate fact from fiction. Each card presents four headlinepossibilities. Are "Woman Raises Baby Rhino In Apartment," "BeaverSteals Camper's Wooden Leg," "Man Videos Cat Making Snow Angels," and"Men Get PMS Too," real headlines? (The last one was actuallypublished.) Players determine whether the stories accompanying theheadlines are true or unverified. They wager points at each stage ofthe game, and the player with the most points at the end wins. Plentyof laughter will accompany this game, and the headlines will prove thattruth is, more often than not, stranger than fiction. This game is fortwo to eight players or teams. --Wendy Slotboom ... Horrendous Gameplay, TONS of Grammatical Errors and Typos
I am appalled by this game. First of all, the "news source" used by the game company to compile the headlines is questionable at best, making the gameplay rather random and pointless. Second, nearly every single card is marred by a typo or grammatical error, which I just could not endure. I have written a letter to Lolo about this game, and I also plan to call them. I strongly suggest you SKIP THIS GAME and pick anything else - any game on Amazon would surely be better than this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hey,who just wants to have fun?
This simple game was a blast at our last party. Absurd headlines are challenged by the players as they try to determine which headline and story is true or not. Players wager on what seems to be true only to find that's not always the story.

Crazy stories mixed with point wagering combine for quite a fun time. ... Read more

A movie-centric "Cranium"
I got this game for Christmas and, being a movie buff, I popped it right open, gathered up some family and gave it a whirl. It's not a fantastic game, but it is a lot of fun. The object is to assemble a "film crew" by winning cards with the names of directors, actors, locations and movie titles on them -- to do this, you win chips by playing various movie trivia games: word association, imitation, drawing and more. It reminds me of another favorite game of mine, "Cranium," in that it combines lots of other games.

The only complaint I have about the manufacture of the game are the clear yellow chips you accumulate to purchase your cards -- on certain surfaces the chips become almost invisible, and I'm still not certain I didn't lose a couple in a plush carpet.

Still, it's a lot of fun, and while it will primarily appeal to movie buffs, there are enough different games and diverse enough questions to give everyone a fun time.

This was fun!
We are big movie buffs and some of the questions were easy and some were hard so it evened out. I liked this game alot, they just need more questions!

Great Fun!
My husband and I bought this game not having played it previously. It just sounded like fun since we are both such movie buffs. Well after reading the directions, I was a little worried about playing it but we tried it and just loved it. My friends and I love playing board games when we get together and while they were uncertain about being able to play it, they are not the movie nuts that we are, they had a great time. They have purchased it as well. We've played many games in one night! The object of the game is for your team to get two actor cards, 2 location cards, one director card and one screenplay card to win. You collect the cards by earning points for the questions your team answers. The game cards have five sections called "Take 1 through to Take 5. Take 1 gives you a category, drama, comedy, etc., and five clues for your team to guess a movie title. Take 2 has your teammate guess either an actor's name or movie title - you have to think of the clues to give. Take 3 is a riot - drawing a movie title is a blast. Take 4 is guessing an actor's name by not giving their movie titles -- just giving tidbits about their life, the storyline of one of their movies, or by doing an imitation of them. Take 5 gives you three movie titles and your team has to tell which one doesn't belong. All game play is by timer and each team has an opportunity to steal the points if your team does not get the answer correctly (exception to this is Take 2 which you cannot steal). The movies go from really old, black & white, to today's movies. The questions run from the really challenging to easy. We are really glad we bought it. ... Read more

Basically in this game the object is to complete a phrase (an apple a day...keeps the doctor away). I never actually played a full game how you are suppose to. Its kind of slow. The phrases are either way to easy or something I have never heard of. My husband and I read the cards aloud while on a road trip last year. Although it takes only two to tango, it takes at least four people to play Proverbial Wisdom (ofcourse, the more the merrier). Teams try to make heads or tails of sketches drawn by the presiding WisdomMaster (every picture tells a story!). They must also identify common sayings drawn on game cards, andchoose the meaning of proverbs from three given options. The first team to get all the way around the boardand solve the final sketch clue wins. After a few rounds, you and your friends and family will be spoutingbits of conventional wisdom and age-old sayings everywhere you go. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game Everyone Can Play!
Proverbial Wisdom has something for everyone. There is always someone artistic who loves to sketch, someone who enjoys viewing the illustrated Picture Cards to solve the proverb, and someone who loves language and discovering the meaning and origin of hundreds of familiar proverbs and sayings. Game play is enjoyable and full of laughs. A fun combination game.

5-0 out of 5 stars A party game lover from Long Island
This is a great game for parties, other social gatherings and especially apres ski. I used to play Trivial Pursuit and Pictionary a lot. I find myself playing Proverbial Wisdom over and over again with my friends. Because everyone knows the proverbs such as "Two heads are better than one" every team has a good chance to win and that keeps it fun. This game will make a great holiday gift. What's not to like?

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game!
I have spent countless hours playing this game. You'd be amazed at some of the answers. It's challenging, yet you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. I give it five stars in all categories.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great gift and Teacher's tool, Proverbial Wisdom -the Game
Proverbial Wisdom is the game our family stays sharp with. Proverbial wisdom makes you think and work fast . Not only do we remember a Proverb.... or act it out, we draw it - depending on the instruction card.
It is good for the tactile ones in our family because you get to draw using fine muscle coordination. Sometimes the drawings are a good laugh, sometimes they leave us all stumped! The game uses some Proverbs we already know so it keeps us positive while we learn the many Proverbs we don't know. Learning the Proverbial Wisdom way puts Proverbs in long term memory. Our family loves this game because it makes us think, learn, and laugh. As a teacher, I can get fast lesson plans off the net. The lesson plans are ready to print instantly. In teaching and home play, I give it stars as follows:
5 Stars for fun
5 Star for learning
5 Stars for educational value
This is a board game of quality.
When I purchased Proverbial Wisdom for Christmas gifts, I learned Liberty Fund receives monies from every game sold through Dec 31st.

Our TV time is less because we play Proverbial Wisdom at our house on game night! Try it. You will get your money's worth a hundred times AND memories of playing with family and friends to treasure.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a great educational tool!
As a middle school teacher, I am often given training in "bringing the students to the next level". It is sometimes difficult taking students who have always been asked to think concretely to think at a higher level. Proverbial Wisdom is and has helped me acheive this goal in my classroom. The students have to stop seeing the words for their literal meaning and start thinking deeper. Students who have not always spoken English as their first language are also greatly benifited by playing this game with each other, since proverbs are always interwoven into the literature they read. Proverbial Wisdom gives these students a chance to look at the English language from a different perspective.
What I have not mentioned is how many smiles and how much laughter I see when students play the game. Drawing and charades are right up the 12- 15 year olds alley!!
What a fun way to meet an educational goal!!! ... Read more

"Was Claude Monet a painter, a jazz musician, or an Italian dictator?" "Name four of the seven colors in the spectrum." Questions like these are sure to get your child's mental gears meshing while playing the Brain Quest Game for grades one to six. The object is to be the first player to finish a race around the game board, designed to mimic a school playground, by correctly answering questions from the Brain Quest cards. Each of the 256 cards contains questions and answers in categories such as math, science, social studies, English, and grab bag (a euphemism for cultural literacy). Brain Quest's folded cards prevent the I-saw-the-answer-on-the-back problem while allowing even the player asking the question to guess the answer.

A great resource for classroom teachers, homeschoolers, and anyone who has enjoyed E.D. Hirsch's books on education (A Dictionary of Cultural Literacy), the Brain Quest Game is a non-threatening yardstick for measuring learning areas that might need attention. It's also the perfect showcase for helping children to display--and feel great about--how much they already know. Younger kids will enjoy the Brain Quest Game for preschool and kindergarten. A SMART BUY
We bought this game for our two kids which are in 2nd and 4th grade.
This game blew away our expectation. Our 2nd grader could answer 2nd grade questions and our 4th grader, could answer 4th grade questions, so they were playin on equal levels. The bonus feature was great, because if it is a subject they are good at, the would take the next grade up's question and move one extra space if they answered it correctly. The "peek and see" cards are a clever addition because our 2nd grader had a hard time reading some of the words in the 4th grade questions. When this happened, he could hand the card to his older brother and he could simply read his own question, without seeing the answer. It's great that we can use our other brain quest sets with this game as well. They thought of everything for this game!

Great for different aged kids
How refreshing it is to play a game that is so educational and practical. We played this game with our nieces and nephews, who range in age from Grade 1 to Grade 5. This is the only game we know of that can allow kids that are so far apart in age to play on equal ground---and even win! The best part is, we have several of the Brain Quest card decks, which can be used with the game, in addition to the thousands of questions provided. This is a great value for the price. It is educational, fun and really gives the younger kids confidence when the beat their older sibling.

This game is GREAT!
I have a troop of 12 Brownie Girl Scouts who have been playing this game for 2 years now (I got it when they were 6 years old). They like it so much that they argue about who gets to play this game, even after 2 years! It is fun for the kids, and fun for adults.

The best part is the ability to choose which level of question to answer (can choose from 1st to 6th grade). It adds to the strategy of the game, making not only knowledge important, but knowing which categories are easy for you or hard.

For those people who gave it negative reviews, I have to wonder if they either didn't read, or didn't understand, the instructions. Saying that it "only requires rote memorization" and then saying Trivial Pursuit is better, not only isn't true, but doesn't even make sense...

Fun for the Whole Family
I was shocked to see some of the negative reviews for this game. This is truly one of my children's favorite board games. I don't know of any other Q&A board game where my 5 year-old can play on par with 8 year-old. By separating questions by grade level both kids can get a chance to get the right answers and are very proud of themselves when they can jump a grade level or two to get bonus points. My only criticism is that there is no booster pack for additional questions.

4-0 out of 5 stars Challenge your brain!
I noticed some negative comments about this game. However, children who have been challenged and are inquisitive will enjoy just asking the questions. As for it being "just facts?" Yes, and there are a lot of facts that are interesting to know. It shows a cultural awareness and it "exercises the brain. In addition ... memorization being a valuable skill, recent research indicates that this ..... may even help prevent altzheimers! " ... Read more

Busy for hours!
From where i live, it is a 16 hour drive down to Disney World, depending on traffic. My children are ten and thirteen. My thirteen year old knows a lot about bible trivia so we made teams. Kids vs. parents. The kids had fun keeping score and "kicking our butts" at this game. The kids were able to answer most of the harder adult questions as well.
