need floor space!
This is a wonderful item, I now have a newborn(07/27/01) and a 4 yr. old, and these mats are and can be lifesavers. You should have plenty of floor space in your kitchen or dining area, it works best without carpet(my opinion).You can have a small area to use this but the colors are loud and can be distracting if this is also an area where you might have to entertain people and you are not going to pack it away every time. You can easily wipe spills up with a moist towel, sponge mop or use a broom. Besides this being used in the kitchen or dining area this is also a good mat for toddlers to use when they are doing craft and art projects, how many of us got frustrated with newspapers or magazines that get wet, move around or tear! Also another use,if you have small pets is, you can place food, cat liter boxes, and small cages to eliminate old newspapers. Works just as good. I have never machine washed a mat, just good ole'spot cleaning works for me. Buy it, you will find so many uses for it!

Really cool for the baby
Our baby just loves looking at the Sesame Street Characters. These splat mats are really savers for cleaning up the carpet or floor. Its always easier to wipe a vinyl mat then washing the floor, no matter the floor.

Great Idea!
This is a great product! Public tables are so gross- these mats make sure your child isn't picking up nasty germs! And they make clean up a breeze- just peel it up and toss it! The designs make for an entertaining meal as well!
These make a great gift for showers or first birthdays.

Great Product
I love this item. I agree the colors are loud but my babies seem to love seeing their little friends at meal time. I fixed the loud colors problem and put the Sesame Street mat in their playroom and am using the softer winnie the Pooh version. I love that its easy to clean, teaches them colors and numbers. The only thing is like the others above I wish it was bigger

Don't bother unless you have carpet
I registered for this mat to save on clean-up time, but we found out that with wood floors it was just more work than it was worth. The mat itself is pretty nice--my son loved the characters and bright colors--but our chair legs did scrape some of the pictures off and left big white streaks in their places. It cleans up fine, but just as easy would be to clean up a wood or tile floor. UNLESS time is an issue, in which case having this to throw down, catch all the globs and goop, and not worry about till the next morning, would be great. ... Read more

WATCH OUT FOR THE LIMBO STICK!!!
My daughter received this for her 3rd birthday. The next day she was playing with the limbo stick...each end pulls out from it. When she shut the stick, it shut quickly and pinched her leg in it. I really had to work to get it open to free her leg. She has a good size spot and bruise. The doll is fine but, the stick is a hazard.

Fall over Elmo is a better name
The instructions say to put Elmo on a hard floor to ensure it works, but that doesn't make much of a difference. It falls over and the music doesn't last long enough. I liked the Rock'n Roll Elmo best because he had a guitar and played music while rockin'. That was more entertaining for this age group. This is more frustrating -- even me, a grown up, is frustrated with this toy. The limbo stick can get lost easily in the piles of toys not attached to anything. Too much effort between Elmo and the stick. Chicken Dance or Hokey Pokey Elmo look like better choices, but I have not tried them.

my one year old tiwn boys love him!
My one year old twin boys love him- but only for about a minute. he sings the limbo song, and then they go over and knock him down, because when you do, Elmo says, "OOPS!! elmo limbo'ed too far- can you help him up please?" and then when you pick him up, he says, "THANK YOU!!" Too cute! the limbo stick is useless, but they now know who elmo is and when he comes on the tv screen, they go nuts! Plus, he teaches them that when you help someone, you say thank you.
very cute toy. I would buy chicken dance elmo if it's as cute. All that really matters is that he makes my boys laugh.

I love this toy
My daughter recieved limbo elmo for her second birthday and loves it unlike other reviews ours works fine on carpet and floor. My daughter likes dancing along with elmo and watching her try to limbo is funny. We love this toy.

I agree, I love it, but it does not hold my child's interest
I love the tune, and so do our friends (without children) who visit and like to play with Elmo. However, it does not hold the attention of my 15-month-old son at all, unfortunately. ... Read more
