5-0 out of 5 stars "Mom!! This is so COOL!!!"
The exact words of my four-year-old about this toy. He loves the missile action and the lazer feature of Buzz. Also, takes a lickin and still going strong (2 year old loves it as well.) One of the cooler Buzz's...the coolest according to my son.

Back thing falls off
My son loves buzz a lot. His older brother and sister love him too. It is annoying that the back thing to fly falls off alot. It needs to be attached much better.
My 3 kids love it. It's good for girls as well as boys.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Cost
I recently bought this toy for my son's 4th birthday and I need to say I bought it at Wal Mart and only paid 19.99 for it which it quite a savings compared to Target.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buzz loving son
My son, who is 2 1/2 years old absolutely loves his Buzz Lightyear. Since receiving it he has played with it non-stop. The only thing that drives me crazy is that the back piece and the wings keep popping off. They are easily repairable, just snap them back in place, but it tends to be irritating to have to keep doing it over and over.

My son received this toy for his birthday and loves it. He carries it around with him everywhere. It is not very educational, but it is a very durable toy than can be taken everywhere to keep the childs mind occupied. ... Read more

Cool toy but.......
This toy is great fun when it works. Putting petroleum jelly on the conections solved our pipe flying appart problem. The base should be heavier but reducing the warter pressure solves this. I do not like a toy to have this many problems straight out of the box but it is fun with the bugs worked out.

It's a dud!
My four year old picked this out. (yeah, I know it says five and up but it's a sprinkler!! how complicated can it be!!!!) It won't stand up no matter where you put it, and it needs to to use it right. You need to fill this lttle tiny base with water and it's just not enough to make it stand. And then the hose attachment leaks. Not worth it!! ... Read more

Very hard and cool game!!!!!!!!!!
This game is great! There are 8 worlds,14 levels. 3 missions are in each level! You can use hyper jet packs, lasers, beam swords, bombs, and others, also hand-to-hand combat! You play as Buzz Lightyear. The game starts as:Buzz in his first year of Star Command, and he has to do missions for his captain. There are 11 bosses, each of them are tough! Usually they fight you in hand-to-hand combat! Some of the Boses are: XL, WARP DARKMATTER,ROLLTA,CANDRA,SHADOW BUZZ,AND MORE! I can't beat zurg! He has powerful kicks and punches! Also the huge blaster ray on his arm is "Lethal!" when he turns it to level 11 that when a big beam comes out!I have spent 7 months trying to defeat him!!!!!! I finally know how! It will take everything you've got to defeat Zurg!!!!!!! "For the Star Command!",i kept repeating it while i was battling ZURG! Then i beat him! I wont tell anyone how, so you must figure it out for yourself! This is the best game in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See Ya!

1-0 out of 5 stars Buzz Lightyear of Star Command
I ordered this game for my grandson on 12/17/02.
I still have not received it and the seller has not answered my inquiries. It was suppose to be here by the 24th of Dec. and it is now the 28th.
I am not very happy about this. My daughter and my grandchildren went back home yesterday. Now, if the game ever comes,
I will have to ship it to him,so more shipping fees. As far as rating this game, of course ,that's impossible.
Thanks,
Tyne Dickie

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is Great
First of all to all that didnt like this game and found it difficult....On each level there are 3 different things u need to do to advance further in the game...You have to collect enough coins, u have to find all the aliens, you need to race the clock, and need to find XR's missing parts. It is a very challenging game and is not for true gamer's.

5-0 out of 5 stars To your Playstation and way beyond
This game was great. There was on problem I had though because whenever you jump off a ledge and land on the ground you fall through the ground like it was thin air. The firs two enemies are the easiest. They are Torques henchman and Gravitina. The rest are fairly hard and the courses get longer. It is really fun on hard level because you get to explore the worlds more. The graphics are good except for the fact that everything ele other than Buzz do not have black lines surrounding them like a cartoon. The music is very forgettable and pretty much just blends in with the sound effects. The characters are incredibly detailed. The voices pretty much sound the same. I think they should have made it so you could go into Boosters house on Jo-Ad. It's cool because yo can her the animals on Jo-Ad in the background and even see a few Moosles, cow- like creatures. They also should have made it so you can use the wrist-ray for an alternative to the handheld laser guns.I thint they should have added just a few more enemies and details like Natron, the space mummy or the Shape Stealer. I also think they should have made it so you can go in the irrigation tunnels on Boosters farm. They should also have un-lockable characters like Evil Emperor Zurg or Warp Darkmatter. Other than that the game is fun and enjoyable. Irecommend this for those of you that watch the t.v. show.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dont Buy!!!!
this game is really bad. i bought it and i cant get past the first level. the hornets get verrry annoying after a while, there is no targeting system to shoot with, you sometimes cant see yourself, the graphics arent the best in the world, and the idea is totally different from what i thought it would be, so unless you want to lose money, dont buy this game!!!! ... Editorial Review

Made just for preschoolers and early elementary students, Leap 1 Books pack lots of lessons into one engaging, interactive story. Here, Buzz Lightyear helps enhance reading and pronunciation skills; identify characters, themes, and settings; and develop memory retention. He also makes reading less intimidating--and more fun--as he leads all of the toys from Toy Story II on a mission to save their friend Woody. Just stick the included book cartridge into a LeapPad, put the book in place, and, with a parent's guidance, the LeapPad takes care of the rest. This book works with all LeapPads except the My First LeapPad Book. --Diane Beall ... Read more

A great leap book
Since my little one is a huge fan of the Toy Story movies, this book was a no-brainer. When it arrived, we were not disappointed. Aside from the usual Leap Pad features that we love (word recognition, story reading, etc) the book is filled with great little games. One game in particular plays like a board game with a "spinner" or "dice". Your little one gets to pick our her "piece" and roll away! But watch out for Evil Emporer Zurg!

I give 3 stars for durability, as I will for all Leap Books, only because the book does not provide storage for the cartridge. It sure would be nice if the books had small plastic sleeves for the related cartridge. We have a number of books and keeping the books and cartridges together are a little tough. The chances of losing the small cartridges will keep my durability rating lower than 5.

Also, the 3 stars for durability is related to a design "flaw". The wire from the pen and the bottom of the book are constant fighting for space. To turn the page, without possibly bending the page, requires you to hold the wire down so it doesn't interfere with the page. Easy enough for an adult to do, however my 5 year old doesn't remember to hold the wire down all the time. 50% of all of our pages have creases in the bottom of the pages...all in the same spot!

Good book, though!

Bravo LeapFrog!
I must admit, this is the best Leap book my son owns (and he has 27!). It is a first grade book. My son is only 4 and is in preschool. This one had excellent games where they learn letter sounds, letter recognition, and the part he loved best was the game that was formatted like a board game that he could actually complete on level one. Of course there are games above his level such as making three letter words, meanings of words and such. This kept my sons attention the longest out of all his Leap books. I highly recommend this book to any preschooler, kindergartner or Toy Story fan! Again, Bravo! LeapFrog! As with all Leap books, thicker pages would be a great idea! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars It's OK, but...
Disney presents us with another mediocre offering of a video game port of an otherwise great movie in "Toy Story 2."

Gameplay more or less follows the plot of the movie -- Al steals Woody and you (Buzz) must traverse the neighborhood in order to rescue your friend.

The game's theory is an awful lot like Mario 64 -- There are objectives to be completed in each level for which you get tokens (read: stars). After you collect X tokens, you go to the next level. Buzz can get power-ups (read: caps) by helping Mr. Potato Head find missing body parts)

Good stuff: Kids will find the first few levels and their charcters "cute." The first level or two is actually quite easy. I was able to find all the tokens on the first level in about 1/2 hour. the phrases Buzz says when he is just standing there almost make the game worth while (You're mocking me, aren't you?) Some of the solutions for getting tokens require a little creative thought and experimenting.

Bad Stuff: I found the camera angles absolutely awful. Buzz is NEVER looking where you need him to. Buzz's control is terrible. Some of the jumps, double jumps and "fine-line" walking is almost impossible. The characters' voices (except for Buzz) are NOT those of the actors from the film. They just sound 'wrong' and get annoying quick. Some tokens require you to complete objectives in later levels (You can't get Rocket Boots to beat RC Car in one race unless you help Mr. Potato Head three or four levels in the future) -- an aspect I find annoying in a game that is supposed to be following a plot (Buzz didn't have to go back to Andy's house to get something to save Woody in the movie, so why should I have to go back in the game to get stuff)

In a nutshell: Rent this game - once. DO NOT BUY IT. Especially if you love a.) Toy Story b.) N64 gaming. You WILL be disappointed. Small children WILL get frustrated at the length of gameplay and the difficulty of control.

3-0 out of 5 stars Toy Story 2
Toy Story is a game that you play for fifteen minutes and then get bored of it. The graphics are o.k. and the sound effects are all right. But kids that loved the movie will adore this game. You meet up with other characters from the movie some of which give you advice, others ask you for help. It's the same idea as Mario, you collect coins and fight bosses at the end of the level. But instead of getting stars you get pizza planet tokens which are used for video games at pizza planet, a pizza restaurant. Sometimes you must move things to climb up on boxes or tables. I rate this game a three out of five stars because it could have had a better plot but still was a sucess.

soooo much fun
This game is so much fun.I love it.I like all the thngs you can
do on it like shoot lazer beams and spin around with your wings
out to blow up bad toys.I think this game is great for kids 6-9.
This game is really great. And Rex gives you hints where people
are.I think this is a really great game even though I only got
to level 5.as far as I'd say, this is a really great game.

5-0 out of 5 stars fun game
Both me and my 5 year old think that it is a fun game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game!
This is a great game--especially for families who want something everyone can play. It's fun without being violent and challenging if you want to be--or just run around and explore the neighborhoods. What could be more fun than a chance to explore the Toy Story universe? ... Read more

Film favorites Buzz Lightyear and Woody are back in action withtheir latest video game offering, Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 2.The cowboy Woody is in trouble in a game that closely follows the plotof the hit computer-animated flick. Although the game is obviouslyaimed at luring fans of the movie of the same name, it does containgameplay that will appeal to a wider audience. Toy Story 2 isnot a perfect game, but it captures the playability and humor of thefilm, and also has movie-quality animations and graphics.

Woody finds himself kidnapped by Al, the evil toy collector, and it'sup to Buzz to save the day--with a little help from the other toys inowner Andy's room. Buzz must venture outside Andy's house and into thelocal neighborhood. Game environments include a perilous constructionarea, a toy barn, and a sky-rise apartment. Ultimately, Buzz willconfront his arch nemesis, the Evil Emperor Zurg--but getting there ishalf the fun.

During his journey, Buzz must collect missing parts for Mr. PotatoHead. He also calls on his buddies Rex, Slinky Dog, and Hamm the piggybank for helpful tips and directions. Controls are varied but can beconfusing to master. Buzz can climb, do a "super foot stomp," fire hislaser, and perform a Space Ranger spin attack to help him get throughthe various levels.

All in all, though, this game's battle cry should be, "To mediocrity...and not much further." --Bill Hutchens

Pros:

  • Better-than-average graphics
  • Includes movie clips that aren't available on the Nintendo 64version
Cons:
  • Probably too cute for serious gamers

5-0 out of 5 stars To infinity and beyond!
My husband said he bought this for our 3 year old son, but we play it more than anybody, and it is a blast. The game is based on the Toy Story 2 storyline of Woody's being toynapped by Al. Buzz is our hero, advancing from one level to the next in search of Woody. Along the way, he destroys Zurg's henchmen, collects Pizza Planet tokens, and locates Mr. Potato Head's missing parts. This game presents challenges that even adults will find difficult to complete, which makes it great for the whole family to enjoy. The only downside to using a computer vs. video game is having to remember which keys on the keyboard correspond to what tool (i.e. firing Buzz's laser, jumping, spinning, etc.). I suggest investing in a joystick for your computer- it's easier, and if truth be told, a lot more fun.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre game, with alot of bells and whistles
Toy Story 2 is a good game. It has it's fair share of mind-blowing colors and characters but its worthy of three stars only. While I would say that the original story and the graphics are worthy of five stars, the gameplay is the problem. This game is geared toward children and its cartoonish features and snappy music will appeal to them. However, the controls are overly complicated for kids and the levels are frustrating more often than not (reminescent of A BUGS LIFE). But then again, kids usually figure things out before adults so maybe I'm the problem...who knows. Rent it first to see if you are interested in the purchase.

cool
This is the best game EVER. Get it or be square

5-0 out of 5 stars "I am Buzz LIghtyear, I come in peace"
GREAT FUN !!! I bought this for my four-year old and he can't stop playing it. I have to force him to put down the controller at bedtime. He loves being able to shoot buzz's laser weapon. He started off needed help, he didn't really understand the concept of the game. Which is perfectly natural, since he's never played on the playstation before. But after some coaching from his daddy and myself, he's become quite a player. He's jumping around and climbing ropes and all sorts of obstacles. He knows where everything is and knows how to get there on his own. He LOVES it! I've tried playing, although I'm not much of a game player, and I love it too!! Great game, highly recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun!
This game is very fun. The playable charachter is Buzz Lightyear. The game is like the movie. Ther are mini bosses too, for example: the electronic robot, and the Zurg kite. To unlock levels or bosses, you have to have the givin amount of Pizza Planet tokens. You get them by comleting tasks or looking around each level very carefully. Here is a tip for beating bosses: Press R1 and hold down the shoot butten, you will see that your laser meter is extending, when it is fully charged, and let go. This will take more of the enimies life away. In most levels you will find Ham. Walk up to him. He will ask you to bring a certain amount of coins to him. If you do he will give you a Pizza Planet token. In some levels Mr. Potatohead will be standing around somewhere. He will ask you to find one of his missing body parts. Bring it to him and he will give you a Pizza Planet token. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars saturday morning buzz
I bought this game for my nephew to play, but it turned out to be a little more chalenging than i thought. He had some trouble navigating buzz in the right direction and shoot at tragets at the same time. If you stay too long in one place more robots come back to attack you even after destroying them. Also, the time limit makes it hard for a slow player to finish each level. Throughout the game, graphics or film clips from the saturday morning program are shown. The presentation is almost seamless- almost, since you can tell some clips don't fit a certain game scene exactly.
Don't be confused with the Toy story 2 game. This game has no connection to the the movie with Woody and other toys. As an action game, it is not bad, ( all the worlds are 3D, eventhough the film clips are 2D). Although this game claims to have 7 worlds, it actually goes back to three previous worlds (a harder level the second time I assume).

this game would be good for someone over six who loves the tv series.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best than Disney Movies

While Andy's away, the toys will play--or in this case, they'll race around in pintsize vehicles. Toy Story Racer is a kart racing game that features 10 characters from the popular film series, including Woody, Buzz, and Hamm the pig, each with his or her own unique vehicle. There are 20 racetracks and a variety of power-ups to edge you toward infinity (though not beyond). In addition to racing through film-inspired environments, players can fulfill different quests, which make the game unfold like a storybook. Success opens up further quests and characters. The game's artificial intelligence adjusts the competitive drive of computer opponents to each player's abilities, so younger fans of the Toy Story films who are new to video games won't get frustrated by constantly eating Woody's dust. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My son is crazy over this game!
Its been a great addition to our kids games. Its nice to have games for the younger ones that they can enjoy! I only wish it was easier to find in stores!

5-0 out of 5 stars Family time!
I love playing this game with my kids. The controls are easy and the concept is straightforward. By owning the movies, you must own this game for the young and old gamers.

5-0 out of 5 stars To the race track and and beyond !
This game is fun. If you liked the Toy Story movies than you should like this game. I think they should have made it so you can play as Zurg, Jessie, Bullseye, and Stinky Pete the Prospector. I think that Buzz should be the fastest and toughest since he's a space hero. The gameplay and graphics are top quality. I really liked the music for some of the courses like the gas station or Andy's neighborhood. My personal favorite character is the LGM toy. I recommend you buy this game if your a Toy Story fan. The LGM's lines are funny. This game may be hard for little kids though. I hope you found this review helpful.
