Any tips?
I say that this toy is awesome (Dispite the price) I say "If your willing to collect/play with Breyer, your willing to lend the money.
These things don't come cheap now let me tell that. Well I started to collect them a while ago. I only have one because I sometimes have trouble finding a way to pay. Well, if your intrested in collecting, heres some thaings you might want. Barn,2-3 diffrent Breyer horses. (ones you like and can afford, and anything else you wanna add to a Breyer collection. This is a Toy and not for Horse collections
I purchased this horse as an addition for my Horse collection and found that this was a TOY and not appropriate to add to my collection.

I was very disappointed and will give this to my grandson.

Also, I have paid less for nicer quality model horses, so if you are adding to an existing model horse collection, pass this by(...)

- - - Rain: Mare of the Cimarron - - -
This is a very fine quality model of Rain that I would recommend to any fellow mare lover. The sculptor did an excellent job of giving her believable equine anatomy, yet she still has the look and beauty of Rain in the movie, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

The model appears to be made of a heavy plastic and is well buffed to a dull sheen after painting. I have two of these and one of them has the seam on her croup so well smoothed that you cannot see where it is. The other has some minor sanding marks and a small depression that goes from the base of her tail, along her spine to her withers. This is only of concern to a collector, or mare fancier as it is not very noticeable. To me it detracts from the lovely, graceful shape of her rump and back. If you are worried make sure you look carefully before opening the box so you can return her and get another that pleases you.

There is a very small hole drilled in the left corner of her smile which I have been told by Breyer is so that the air can escape when the model is joined together. It is very minor and is much better than how they have done it in the past when they would poke a hole in the nostril of the model.

The painting is not perfect, but certainly acceptable. Her eyes are well indicated and her coat pattern closely follows that of her in the movie. Her mane and tail are flowing with some nice hollows and through-holes that simulate her hair wafting in the wind. She has a very cute expression with which you can't help fall in love.

Her pose is realistic and very stable on a table top. She is in tripod stance and we can see the bottoms of 3 of her hooves which actually have a very slight "V" at the heel and are slightly concave to indicate the frog and sole of a barefooted mare. This is a very nice detail that they added to her in my opinion. She can also be tilted back to balance on her hindlegs and tail so that she is rearing up in a very attractive manner! :) On the inside of her left hind upper leg she has a small silver painted logo of Spirit at the gallop. Summary: If you love horses in general, mares in particular, and Rain specifically, you will want to own this model. I will be buying at least two more for my collection. I use her for display still in her box, as a model for drawing her and horse anatomy, and as a reminder of how much I love horses and have enjoyed her movie, Spirit.

A Beautiful Breyer Collectible
Rain is an elegant and beautiful paint mare who lives with her owner Little Creek, a young Lakota brave. This is another beautiful model from the movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Her lovely prancing position, the lovely little feather in her mane, and her pretty little blue eyes make Rain another "must have" Breyer Collectible.

Lily Gray
this toy is great I have three myself they are Dusty,Whisper,and Honey and I have all three of the loving family foals Daisy, Blossom, and Rose. But my personal favorite is Lily Gray but I still do not have her. Me and my neighbors play with these almost every day and they are our favorite toy.

Now we need a farm.
We added several ponys from the western set. They are sturdy and well made. The horse sounds are realistic and accessories again help children to recognize that the animals, if real, would need food and water. The equestrian people are recommended as their legs are built to expand to allow them to easily balance on the backs of the horses. The saddles are relatively easy to put on for my 4 year old. ... Erm..
The problem with Breyer is that they are now starting to focus a LOT on the display factor instead of the durability for children. I think this item should be mostly for older kids and collectors. It is great to play with, but is outragously expensive...and you can't even do anything with it without the car, which is like another [$$$]!

This horse trailer is very delicate.
I purchased this horse trailer for my 8 year old daughter thinking that a brand name such as breyer would be worth the $... I paid. My daughter began playing with her horses and new trailer and within 10 minutes the latch for the rear door broke. I glued the latch and gave it back to her. The next thing that broke was the ring that the little chain hooks into, also within 10 minutes. My daughter is not a rough child and rarely breaks a toy, so I am very disappointed in this product.

Nice Trailer
This is a very realistic horse trailer and is very detailed. It is large enough for full size model horses, and pretty well made. The only part not made very well is the butt chain---it is a bit flimsy and I found it to be a little difficult to latch and unlatch. The only other drawback to this trailer is that currently there is no matching truck made to pull the trailer! Hopefully, they will come out with one, and I hope Breyer collectors will email the company to request one be made (I've sent in my request already!) Over all, it's a very nice trailer! ... Bootiful!!
I have him and ive called him Prince!! He is really lovely and stands up well!! I gave him 4s as he is a bit "shiny" on his sides because of his colouring and because you can't actuall get piebald American Saddlebreds!(...)

The Spirit of Breyer
I think this is not a toy,I think it looks better in a shelf but if you want too play you can but not very hard.I think that in general breyers are not for little children.This Spirit is really beautiful and catchs very the idea of the movie.If you buy Rain they will look wonderful.I have them both.

CHEAP quality, HIGH price
I bought this horse and low and behold one month after purchase, the tail broke off. I have tried to glue it and still won't hold. It is strange, we have about 10 of these horses, foal, and mares. We have 5 that are broken . For the price you pay they should be durable. They are intended for "Play", or so it is advertised that way. I don't think they had children test them. I thought I was doing the right thing buying the more expensive hores for the quality! NOT, I'M DISAPPOINTED!

Very nice toy to look at but for a child to play with, well.
I purchased this for my daughter for Christmas 2002. One week later to the day she was playing with it and not in a very rough manner, the back leg broke.

This was not a cheap horse and I just did not want to purchase another one. My husband with his expertise in repair fixed the leg but it sits on a shelf now and cannot be advised to play with.

The 'Rain' horse seems very strong though.

Amazing Toy!!
Even though I am a Breyers collector and dont play with my models often, I found this toy very durable and amazingly fun!Its very realistic, and every horse lover should have it!It teaches children the atonamy of the horse, and they can re-create their favorite scenes!If they buy Rain along with Spirit, it doubles the fun, and they look priceless on any collectors shelf, or any childs room! Believe me, I have them, so I know!^_^

Great Fencing!
This is a great fence for kids who love to set up plays with barns!(I do) It makes a great pasture or riding arena! (4 stars for edu. because how can a model fence be edu?)It is not really model showing quality however because it not very realistic. I recomend getting this for play and not for showing.

Overpriced piece of junk
The good: The truck matches the horse trailer (has a hitch for it). The 8" breyer figures fit inside.

The bad: This truck is made of thin, flimsy plastic. The doors don't stay closed. Mine arrived with misaligned parts that caused the tailgate to keep falling off. I had to take the thing apart and readjust all the screws. My wife told the kids not to use the steering wheel, tailgate, or hood because it looks like it'll fall apart if they do. What's the point?

My advice: buy a remote control truck the same size, which will be half the price, and make a hitch for the trailer. It'll me much more fun, and you'll only have to worry about the trailer breaking (but that's a different review :). ... Read more

An easy, fun and fast way to learn about horses! A+++
I highly recommend this game to anyone who has a true interest in learning more about horses.

It was fun and stupid!
I got this game for my birthday.As soon as i opened it i had 2 play it.So we sat atthe table playin this game.It was fun but the answers were way to easy we ended up with everybody gettin every answer right so we just had 2 stop.I wish i could of played it longer but it got so boring i had to start playin herd your horses.A game a got last year for my birthday!So if u could make the game questions a little harder i would enjoy iy a lot lot more!

Awsome game
I havn't had that much of a chance to play this game but it is great. It is a trivia game for all horse lovers. you can play with up to four people. you have to answer enough questions of diffferent catagories such as care and riding to win.

don't waste your money...
The Breyer HORSE SENSE game is not worth a dollar. The questions are not challenging at all!!! Even little kids will find it silly! For example (from the cards): WHAT IS AN EQUINE VETERNARIAN? a. a duck doctor b. a water scientest c. a vet who specializes in horses\WHAT IS A HORSE'S DIET COMPOSED OF? a. cotton candy and soda, b. chips and candy, c. grains and bulk foods? A HORSE USES ITS TAIL TO? a. brush its teeth b. swish off flies c. look pretty.
As you can see, HORSE SENSE is really not worth ANYTHING! Don't waste your money, get HERD YOUR HORSES.

Breyer 'Horse Sense' Game
I enjoy playing with this game very much, some of the answers to the questions are FUNNY!!! Navigate around a colorful game board with a miniature cardboard Breyer model, and answer questions along the way from four different categories. For every category you correctly answer a question for, you get one of the four pieces of a first place ribbon. What a Horse!
My son received this as a birthday gift and he loves it. He is still a bit small to ride it (he's only 18 months - 32.5" tall). Another inch and it will be perfect. For the time being, he will just push it around the house. This product (and Alex toys, in general) is very well constructed. It is also visually impressive. I have sugar,honey,dusty and whisper. I saw whisper in the store and was suprised to see a horse mix. so I went online to search for others I came across whisper again a found out she was a cream color nothing like the one I saw at the store same with dusty she is white with a gray muzzle I found her online and she was a pinto same with honey.

Excellent Choice
My 4 year old daughter received the Loving Family dollhouse and many accessories for Christmas last year. This horse has been the best investment of all. The house is fun, but not real well built for her younger friends. Her cousin loved her horse, Whisper, so much that we went & got him one for his birthday. He loved it, but wanted to know where the rider was. There is another horse from this series available that comes with a rider. I haven't seen it in person, but Fisher-Price has full support from me.

A well-made and detailed toy horse
We bought this toy horse for my son (22 months). I'm really impressed with it's quality: the sound effects are quite realistic, the pawing action and lowering head are cute, and the accessories are nice. The saddle is detailed and fits nicely. We have to use a rubberband to "tie" the rider onto the horse, but that is mainly because my son gets so distraught when they fall off.

Fitting Tribute to a Great Horse
I own this piece as part of my Triple Crown set including Slew and Secretariat and I just love it. Every muscle, shadow and ripple in his mane and tail are picked out in excellent detail. This is the only piece of Affirmed memorabilia I have in which his mane is loose and not braided as he wore it in his races. The pose shows him just "being a horse", it's really nice. This Horse Is Gorgourges!
Being a Breyer collecter almost all of my life, I would like to say that this toy is great! It is so unique in every way and it is the perfect mold for a show horse! This toy is not only fun to play with, but it is also very durable and strong. I think that this toy is educational for the horse-lover's mind. I shows us what a certin kind of horse would look like without them having to buy one.

brilliant, realistic model!
This model is beautiful. each model is hand painted, and looks unique. these breyer models are hich quality and worth the money, but since there are some very weak parts of the model (like legs and tail) you have to be careful. Don't get it wrong, these are pretty strong. They are not exactly fragile or anything.... but overall pretty durable. It is also totally educational. The box comes with the name of the breed of horse, (in this case Bay Pinto) and its realistic features really help you learn about that particular breed and what it looks like. The thing i love about this model and all other breyer models is the close resemblance to the real thing. These are not cheesy barbie horses with cheap plastic and eyelashes... This could hardly be called a toy. It is something that adults could collect, and put around the house as decoration. Great for all ages!

As a person who has collected Breyers all my life, I can see the changes that Breyer has made with the horses that are sculptered. They look more realistic, and very detailed. I will always collect them, all though I do have real horse of my own, Breyers make great gifts for kids and grownups who live in the city or cannot afford a horse.

An excellent depiction of this marvellous breed
Breyer's National Show Horse is very pretty, and can help children learn about horses and their anatomy, as long as a knowledgeable adult can point out the model's physical points such as withers, hocks, hooves, etc. Believe me, though, if you get a child this model, they will definitely want more Breyer models! ...
