Amazon.com Review Pokémon characters abound; your young cousin or little sister should beable to rattle off many of their names effortlessly. The game is designed foryoung gamers, and encourages problem solving--something that all parents shouldwant their children to learn while playing a game. Thankfully, the game controlsare easy to pick up, and the tasks are easy to execute. For a puzzle game, this one has a good number of gameplay options and modes.Puzzle University looks simple, at first, but it proves to be a realbrainteaser. In this mode, you must clear the entire screen in a limited numberof moves--a twist that makes the game surprisingly addictive. It's good to seethat Pokémon Puzzle Challenge has made some minor improvements onthe now-classic game of Tetris. Naturally, the graphics are better on the Nintendo 64 version; but, if you'vegot a long ride planned, or that plane's been delayed, this game will turn hoursinto minutes. If you're looking for a family-friendly title for all of the GameBoy Color users in your family, look no further than Pokémon PuzzleChallenge. --Todd Mowatt Pros: Reviews (18)
ADDICTIVE! But there's a downside as well. It's very hard. My 11-year-old sister, a much more rabid Pokemon fan than myself, has informed me of the different ways to play the game so as to win the "extra Pokemon" (Sentret, Marrill, etc.) but it is almost impossible to do so. I have had the game for over a year and have still not managed to win Sentret. Still, it's not as if I'm going to stop trying. (Read: it's not as if I CAN stop trying.) :-)

First off, I don't know why people are saying that this is Evil Dead 4. Bruce Campbell has been quoted as saying that, and he's also been quoted as saying the "S-Mart" ending to Army of Darkness isn't the official one (see Army of Darkness- Director's Cut to see the "official" ending). Well that's confusing, seeing as this game picks up where the American "happy" ending of AOD left off. One more thing worth mentioning is that you can often get lost in a part of the map. They give you no clue as to what to do next, and a few times, you must complete objectives in order before progressing, which makes for a frustrating bit of wandering. Not to mention getting lost because they don't tell you how to exit the ROOM. Sometimes you've got to rely on guess work to see you through. The end boss is simply pathetic, as there's no strategy involved at all, you simply trade blows until one of you is dead (which, now that I think about it, is the same for every "basic" enemy in the game). That's no fun, but after you've spent hours driving at the end cinema, it feels worth it to grit your teeth through a cheap end boss. The soundtrack is fantastic, with booming orchestra music, and choirs singing in a creepy "The Omen" sort of way. It adds a lot to the game's atmosphere, and even picks up some of the slack for Bruce's voice overs that seem a little less than enthusiastic. If you can overlook the notorious instant re-spawning, and are a loyal Evil Dead fan, then why not give it a try? If you're willing to see it through to the end, it might sate your thirst for Evil Dead for a while, in spite of it's confusing layout, amateur combat system, blocky graphics, etc.

Editorial Review Complete with cunning renditions of actual car models and a very playableinterface, this game is great for the serious racing simulation fan and the casualgamer. It promises instant action and the kind of gradual advancement thatkeeps gamers playing for weeks. While the license tests can be hard, the funtrack design and sheer number (140-plus) and variety of cars to choose frommakes this an exciting race experience. --Allen Stewart Pros: Features Reviews (79)
One thing that's not so great about this game is the space that it takes up on your memory card. Just to have a simulation mode game going, you need 5 empty blocks. If you want to get into saving replays and stuff, it can use up to 15 blocks. Memory cards are expensive... I'm not willing to devote an entire memory card to one game, no matter how great it is.

While this game could certainly be improved in the graphics and sound departments, the gameplay is where this excells. In fact, I expect to log 100's of hours playing this thing- the gameplay is that good. Most people will be turned off by the learning curve, but that is actually where the fun begins. You can really feel yourself pushing the car to its limits, and the setups can really have an effect on how the car handles. If you screw up (and it'll happen quite a lot), it's super easy to just restart. I've heard plenty of complaints about playing the game with the Dual-shock controller, but I have had absolutely no problems with this. I'm sure it's awesome with the force-feedback wheel. Why is this the best serious racing game on the PS2? GT3 would probably win this hands down if it had better opponent AI, but while it's easily the best driving game, Formula One 2001 offers a far more enjoyable racing experience.
Knowing that this title was created by a team of designers who live in the UK, I can see that they really know what they are doing when it comes to making an F1 title for the PS2. I don't think that the folks over at EA have ever seen or been to an F1 race, which shows in the game play. Sure this title has graphics that aren't as good as EA's, but the tracks do look a little better than on EA's title. If this company were to consider making a new F1 title, I think that the following should be added to the new game: 2) A tutorial on car set-up would be nice. For people new to F1, it would help explain how changing certain things on the car change the performance of the car. Keep everything else. Who needs sports cards in an F1 title. I've got them all on the EA title and it doesn't really change anything for the game. Having to pass a test just to race? Forget that too. That works for GT3, but not here. Keep the test mode on this title, it helps you learn how to set the car up. I'm glad that I gave this title another chance.

Amazon.com Product Description The game differs from other boxing titles in that it offers career progression through constant improvement, and gamers must learn new moves to progress. Listen to your trainer, and he will advise you as each fight progresses. You can take on more than 40 boxers in a huge variety of boxing arenas. See the crowds grow as each fight attracts a larger and larger purse! Reviews (15)
The best feature about the game is that your character does need to use boxing skills to prevail. Some of the opponents are sort of goofy looking, but you tend to overlook that when they start pounding on you in the ring. I'm in agreement that the inability to block punches takes away from game being near perfect, but for me, Victorious Boxers blows away Knockout Kings. This is coming from a huge EA fan, too. My PS2 will only play silver-back discs, now. Thank goodness this game is one of the ones I can use. I don't even miss the Knockout Kings 2001/02 I have. Get this game. You won't be disappointed.
Here's my comments on VB I highly recommend this game to everyone. I'm sure you don't want to miss this one.
As one reviewer said, set your left analog stick to expert control and use the L1 for sway. You can control Ippo much, much better that was. The default controller settings leave much to be desired. I think most people who complained about the controls never bothered trying to change the settings for them or even the camera angles to suit their fighting style better. After setting the left analog stick to expert and sway to L1, I fought alot better and covered more ground around the ring. Fighting-wise, it's a pretty well balanced game with the standard straights, hooks and uppercuts plus some special moves per boxer. You will do alot of bobbing and weaving in this game as there is an absence of blocking which is too bad as that would've made this game better especially near the last opponents who become very, very challenging. I really, really like this game and recommend others to watch the series to appreciate the game a bit more. ... Read more | |

Amazon.com Review Featuring 150 different wrestlers from which to choose, each with his or her ownmoves and finishers--as well as the option to combine more than 1,200 techniquesand styles to create your own grapplers for the 3-D isometric ringside--FirePro Wrestling doesn't lack variety. You can even link up your GBA unit tofight against your friends or trade wrestlers you've created. You can also play against the computer, which turns out to be a pretty goodopponent. The game takes full advantage of both the A and B and the shoulderbuttons, so the control is solid. Getting used to the time delay for punches andkicks can be frustrating, however. The manual does an excellent job in teachingyou the tremendous variety of moves, and once you've learned what you can do,the gameplay is extremely satisfying. About the only thing lacking from the game is familiar personalities. Inoffering so many fighters, each seems rather bland, and one is often a thinvariation on the last. Of course, your own imagination can let you add aRock-like or Mankind-esque wrestler, if that's what you want. Anyway, it's good funfor a handheld. Can you smell what your Game Boy is cookin'? --Andrew S.Bub Pros: Reviews (41)
On the downside, the game has no championship mode, where the player would play a "storyline" mode. This seriously hampers replay value, as players are left to fight one-on-one matches without any serious reward. Also, unlike some of the other released games where you could have 4 players play off of one cartridge, Firepro demans that each player have a seperate cartridge as well. All in all, a good start for the Advance. A good solid wrestler that will have you learning the ins and outs for a while.
select EDIT SUPERSTAR go to NAME ENTRY. on the first line type ALL on the line below it type STYLES and on the line next to that type CLEAR. This should unlock all the hidden wrestlers.

Editorial Review As the wrestlers comes out, their theme music is played, and they go through their trademark moves. From there the action gets a little slow. While the crowd sounds very realistic, the actual moves are executed rather slowly. Plus Acclaim has included a function that causes the wrestlers to lock arms if they get too close. This is designed to keep a player from using the same moves over and over again. It doesn't work--an entire match can be won by just hitting the kick button. What it does do is force numerous arm locks that do little damage and can turn monotonous. However, executing a great move like a body slam is cool--when it works. Hard-core professional wrestling fans will appreciate the accurate character models and faithful reproductions of signature moves of their favorite wrestlers. While those who are into fast and furious wrestling action will be better served looking elsewhere, fans who enjoy watching the pros will enjoy this game's cinematic attitude. --Allen Stewart Pros: Features Reviews (47)

The variety of matches is outstanding. You can choose between normal matches, tag team matches, handicap matches pitting one against two, Battle Royals, Royal Rumbles, King of the Ring matches, hardcore matches where chairs, belts, and microphones are in easy rich and are encouraged for use in the ring, Anywhere Fall matches, cage matches, survival matches, and I Quit matches (which are especially fun). Not only that, you can have or even control special referees for any match. I love being a ref because you get to beat the heck out of either or both of the actual wrestlers, and you can control the outcome of the match by choosing the speed at which your three-count is made. If all this isn't enough, there are a number of backstage fighting areas you can access (although the fact that you have to Irish whip your opponent into the backstage area makes this a little clumsier to pull off than it need be). But wait, there's more. Not only does each wrestler have his own special introduction as he makes his/her way to the ring, the game features clips from backstage between some matches; this sounds pretty cool, but these clips soon become boring and frivolous. You can choose to wrestle in Season Mode, taking your wrestler through each month on his/her own quest for the belt while watching or skipping over matches you don't actually participate in. You also have the ability to create your very own wrestler and let him wreak some havoc in the big leagues, which is an option a lot of players should love. Perhaps the best option of all, though, is the ability to set up the matches of your choice in Pay-Per-View events. The only real complaint I have about this game is the fact that there is no option for match commentary. I know that commentary can quickly become tiresome and repetitive, but it does make for a more realistic wrestling environment. Other than this one missing option, though, WWF Smackdown! pretty much has it all, and I will be laying the smacketh down for some time to come, I can assure you.
First off, they gave the game arcade style feel and controls. Big mistake. They also made it more like the actual show: you have to continually punch the guy before you can start doing grappling moves. I may be in the minority, but constantly punching a guy gets old fast. I want to be able to start throwing suplexes and hitting piledrivers right off the bat. Secondly, the game's A.I. has gotten extremely intelligent. Too intelligent. The game can kick your ass unless you're a great gamer, and I'm just average, maybe a little below. Mainly because of the counter system. The game goes like this: punch, punch, punch, punch, grapple, move-counter move-counter move, etc. You'll get countered excessively, and your counters won't work most of the time. Yes, it is a lot like the actual wrestling you watch on TV, but for a wrestling game to be fun in my opinion, it can't be realistic in terms of following how an actual wrestling match would go. I don't want to spend over an hour or more in a match, 15-30 minutes is plenty, unless it's a Royal Rumble-type match. THQ threw out the window the great grappling engine they had with the N64 games and has replaced it with this tripe. I honestly don't understand what the fans see in this series of game. I guess if you like your matches in the game to follow how the matches on the show work, and you enjoy the actual wrestling to a be a chore and full of non-stop punching and countering, than this is the game for you. If you want an actual FUN wrestling game, then I suggest you stick with THQ's WCW games on the N64. At least then, they had the right idea.
The graphics are pretty bad, worse then SmackDown! 2. But, again, this is a Playstation game, so they're pretty good. There are only 30 superstars to choose from, which isn't very many. There are a whole lot of matches in Exhibition mode either. There's single, tag team, handicap, Battle Royal, Royal Rumble, King of the Ring, hardcore, anywhere fall, Cage, survival, Special Referee, and I Quit. But, you can hold title defenses in Exhibition, which makes me happy. Season mode is pretty boring. I think I played it once, and only for a few minutes. I'm not gonna bother saying much about it though. Create mode is pretty bad though. There's Create a Pay-Per-View, which is almost the same as in SmackDown! 2. And then there's Create a Superstar. IT SUCKS! You can only choose default heads, upper bodies, and lower bodies. You have barely any control over anything. It just plain sucks. It's one of the reasons why I have barely ever played SmackDown! 1, because Create a Superstar is one of my favorite things. There's also Ranking and Belt Holder modes again, which are the same as in SmackDown! 2. All in all, this is definitely the worst game in the SmackDown! series. If you have a Playstation, just stick with SmackDown! 2. Even if you want to collect all of the games in the series, I'm pretty sure that you'll be wasting your money if you buy this game.

The dead rises again...
First of all, there is Bruce Campbell. He, friends, makes this game worth playing with his awesome voice acting, full of hilarious lines. Then, the graphics. The graphics are awesome! See, in Resident Evil, all scenaries are static, no movement. Here at Hail to the King, trees move, the fog moves.. I mean, every single room has movement, so the graphics are way best than average PSOne games. The CGs are awesome, one of the best you can find on PSOne, and Ash looks fine too. There are good varieties of enemies, good variety of scenarios (including fan's favorite ones like the Cabin, the Bridge...) the bosses are cool and the game, even though difficult, is totally possible to beat without GameShark if you train a little.

Contrary to what the box claims, the street models of New York are not accurate at all. After playing for almost a week I still can't figure out what the streets are. The controls are very straightforward, making the game easy to play, but sometimes you head down (toward the bottom) and that makes turning a bit confusing. The races are generally easy to beat. This game makes a good flight companion. Otherwise it lacks depth and killer graphics. Get it if you find a used one or at a discount.

Gameplay: Juggernaut begins with a psychotic and freakish opening that will immediatly have you running to turn the lights back on...the scenes with your g/f are just amazingly detailed, be that a good thing or not (the parts with the priest slicing something with the knife, revealing horrible screams and the doll each are very VERY scary). The gameplay, unfortunatly, lacks a bit in interactivity...it's very very Myst-like, only in a parallel place with almost no people. Too bad the concept wasn't played out well enough, and it left me with mixed feelings about the game. Graphics: Graphics in Juggernaut are also skitzo...they're highly detailed and lifelike, but they're grainy...it bothers you a bit when you first begin playing, but you adjust to it. Most of the game is cinema, and the quality comes very close to Parasite Eve. It gives it a creepy quality comparable to the game Nocturne for PC. The game is still highly disturbing and starting in the middle of disc 2 gets extremely nightmarish (do NOT play this game if you are squeemish) Sound: Music in Juggernaut is so clear it's almost unbelievable...the score is a flawless masterpiece, also very disturbing. The sound is lacking something though...no dialogue, just canned screaming and demonic (and BOY do I mean DEMONIC) laughter... Overall, this is a game for the adventure genre fan crowd. It will leave many of you bored. Rent it and then make a decision, because it will take you MONTHS to finish this game.

The Weak Points: 1) Same gameplay as NBA Live 2000 2) Season play gets boring after about 10 games 3) No free agents 4) No salary caps 5) You can hit some shots all day 6) Too easy, like when you play Superstar with the Clippers against the Lakers and win by 15 The Strong Points: 1) Same strong gameplay as previous seasons 2) Momentum meter 3) Always going to be better than NBA Shootout 4) Addictive gameplay in the first week that you own the game 5) NBA Live Challenge So basically this is a good buy, but you might want to wait until you can get it for less than 40 dollars, or if you can get it for a present. It's a good game, but if you have NBA Live 2000 it's basically the same game with a few new features and the always updated rosters.
Highs: 1. One of the most entertaining sports games. 2. Great gameplay 3. you got a lot of options to choose from. Like practice mode, three-point contest, etc. Lows: 1. Same EXACT gameplay as the one in 2000 2. Same graphics ( the crowd looks better, though) 3. Same lame old boring commentary like its older brother 4. the faces look really messed up ( some players have teeth sticking out of their faces on close- ups) Final verdict: If you don't mind the almost same game as last years then buy it. If you want changes, please don't buy it!!!!!!
