4-0 out of 5 stars Arctic Thunder
Hey I have played the arcade game at a local Bar and Grill in my hometown and when I walked in the walls were shaking and I thought I have to try this game. I got to tell you this is the best racing game ever made!! I can't wait to play it on my PS2. This will be a prime choice game for people who love to race.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Ride!
Being a fan of the arcade version, I was excited to see this as a PS2 Title. It is very similar to the arcade version, and just about as much fun. There are many tracks, sleds, and riders to choose from and unlock, which makes game play more interesting. It is a bit fast, but that's a good thing! If you like a frantic paced racing game with a healthy dose of fighting I think you will like this one!!
The only drawback is that on two player games the visibility is limited and it makes navigation harder. That said this is a great game!

5-0 out of 5 stars midway at its best
this is a cool game.there are 12 tracks,the himaylayans,russia,washinton d.c.,the alps,a haunted forest,alaska,a winter sports park,a logging site,a ufo encounter,china,atlantis,and a theme park.there are 19-20 riders.and 5 battle tracks,a storm hazard,a pirates cave,an outpost,deep space,and an ancient battle underground.that's 17 places you can GO!

1-0 out of 5 stars I'd give it a zero if there was one
In order to give you a better idea what it's like to play AT on the PS2, I've decided to write this review in a manner more fitting to the game's framerate. This is the choppiest most inexcueably disjionted framerate ever on the PS2, rendering this game virtually unplayable. Do not, repeat: DO NOT go anywhere near this game. You've been warned.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game for Family Fun

Editorial Review

While it never quite achieves Muhammad Ali-like greatness, Knockout Kings 2000 isnonetheless an excellent boxing game for both the enthusiast and the casual gamer. Fifty boxing legendsfrom the past and present are featured in this EA Sports title, along with world-famous arenas and TV-stylecoverage. In addition to being able to set up your own fights in the standard exhibition mode, you can playout nine of the greatest boxing matches in history in the game's classic mode. And for those interested inless realism and more pugilism, slugfest mode offers over-the-top, arcade-style boxing.

The real crowd pleaser here is Knockout Kings 2000's career mode. Choosing from a wide varietyof options, you get to create your own custom boxer, who can fight his way to the top in career mode orparticipate in exhibition and slugfest matches. Before career fights, customized boxers can be improved bytraining, or playing various mini-games. (A memory card is required to save custom boxer data.)

What robs Knockout Kings 2000 of the championship belt is its unbalanced 3-D graphics. Theboxers look great and move fluidly, but everything else appears flat and unfinished. Thankfully, fast gamespeed and responsive controls clamp down on the sightseeing, which is one sure-fire way to end up KO'd.--Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Can create your own custom boxer
  • Features realistic and arcade-style boxing
  • Fast game speed and responsive controls
  • Optional 1-button mode for those who don't want to memorize controls
Cons:
  • Except for the boxers, graphics aren't very pretty

3-0 out of 5 stars Ho-hum Knockout Kings
Overall, Knockout Kings 2000 is a disappointment. Although the selection of boxers has improved--like the addition of Sugar Ray Robinson and Joe Frazier, the boxing action has taken a step backwards from its predecessor, Knockout Kings. In that game, a fight could end at any moment with one good punch, and the action wasn't as frenetic--like regular boxing. Here, to make it more "exciting", the programmers simply turned it into a glorified karate punching game with loads and loads of punches being landed. The computer does not improvise any strategies, and hence all the fighters seem the same on computer mode. When it's energy is low, it covers up. When yours is low, even if the computer's is, it comes out you--and is easy to knock out every time. Better to hold off and wait for Mike Tyson Boxing from Activision which promises more realism and strategies. Hey EA Sports--where are Gerry Cooney, Jerry Quarry, Thomas Hearns, Roy Jones, Prince Naseem Hamed, George Foreman (a young and older version), Riddick Bowe, and Kid Gavilan? Put some more classic fighters in there as well!

2-0 out of 5 stars It's just another Slugfest
EA Sports have done a brilliant job on the graphics but where did the game play go? I mean after watching a brilliant intro playing the game isn't much fun at all. The sound tracks are brilliant but what happened to strategy and being able to make your opponent work. This game reminds me of Barry Mcguian's Boxing that came out for the commodore 64 back in the early 80's. There's absolutely no difference in game play. This game is just about pressing the button quicker that your opponent (that's if your in two player mode). This has taken a step backwards since Knockout Kings '99, which other than the graphics is a far better game.

My advice: Don't buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the Play Station
I like this game because it's cool. I like how Al Albert, Shawn OBraty add commentaries during the fight. I also like how Mills Lane gives the fighters instruction before the bout. I highly recommend this game to future boxing fans.

4-0 out of 5 stars TKO
I really like the game, but I wish the opponent's attacks were just a little more telegraphed so that I, as a player, would have a better fighting chance against the computer that is obviously connected to whatever button I press when it comes to its defensive tactics.

3-0 out of 5 stars Knockout Kings 2000 quite entertaining, but some flaws
Knockout Kings 2000 is overall a pretty good game. After first playing it with my friend, I got hooked on it. The music is awesome. The Career Mode is a good idea, and I love that there are so many legendary boxers to choose from.

However, I agree with other reviewers in that the game is not so true to real-life boxing techniques. (Of course, one can argue that realism in a video game is unimportant, just as in the movies...) I can win too easily just throwing combos. Not much strategy involved. Also, defense is impossible in the game. All you can do is evade once the computer starts swinging; bobbing and weaving are useless. This really annoys me. Another thing that bothers me is that the computer can throw just as many combos as you, but still have nearly a full tank of stamina.

I wonder why George Foreman or Mike Tyson aren't included? I mean, Jack Dempsey, but no George Foreman? Come on! And Ken Norton and Joe Frazier are underrated in the game. This really bummed me out. Also, it seems odd to me that I can beat Muhammad Ali with, say, Leon Spinks, easier than I can beat Larry Holmes or Evander Holyfield, using the exact same strategy. And Holyfield--while a great heavyweight--is not as good as the game makes him out to be, in my opinion.

But all in all, the game is good for hours of enjoyment. There are more things I like about it than dislike. I recommend it favorably. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

This is a good thing: Earthworm Jim has been lovinglyported and primed, and is now ready for action on the Game Boy Advance. The game is a fairly straightforward port of the old Super Nintendoversion, only with the exclusive Sega Genesis Intestine level added forgood measure. It provides weird, wicked, and hilarious 2-D actionthat's perfect for handheld gaming.

The story concerns the titular annelid, Jim, and his discovery of asuper-special space suit that lets him walk, jump, run, climb, andfight like a man. He's also got a machine pistol, and can grab his ownwormy body and whip himself around to reach high places. Decidedlywacky stuff. His enemies consist of psycho hamsters, crows (naturally),cats, and creatures made of garbage. His ultimate enemy is the evilPsy-Crow; he wants the suit from Jim and will stop at nothing to get itfor his evil queen.

Earthworm Jim remains one of the weirdest 2-D side-scrollinggames you'll ever play, mainly because of the sheer amount ofinnovation packed into each level. Jim will bounce on tire stacks, usezip lines, propel himself using machine-gun fire, and utter an emphatic"Dang" whenever struck by the enemy. Power-ups include special weaponsand health, as well as free lives, which you'll need becauseEarthworm Jim is also one of the hardest games you'll find onthe handheld.

In terms of innovation, creativity, graphics, and sound, EarthwormJim is head, stomach, and tail above most titles, but it doessuffer more than most from the Game Boy Advance's well-documentedlighting and screen problems. Because the enemies in EJ tend tobe small and fast, they can be hard to see without some lighting help.Regardless, this one remains a classic despite the intervening years.--Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • Odd and hilarious!
  • Great graphics and characters
  • Classic gameplay
Cons:
  • Small, fast enemies can be hard to see without proper lighting
  • Will be too challenging for some

2-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, but colors too dark, and no saving
Earthworm Jim features some highly entertaining and freakish sprite animations, with weird activities like launching a cow into space, snot monsters, slugs, hyperactive poodles with fangs, and other fun oddities. The level designs are complex and challenging.

However, the very dark colors do not work well on the non-backlit GameBoy Advance screen. I have a number of other Game Boy Advance titles including Chu Chu Rocket and Rayman Advance. Earthworm Jim's levels and backgrounds, by comparison, are extremely dark, with very low contrast, frequently using browns, grays, dark shades of red, and black. This might work on a CRT screen but does not work well on the reflective LCD screen. Even in bright light, it is very hard to distinguish objects and see attackers coming to get you.

Rayman Advance is more attractive and it is much easier to see the action. Earthworm Jim's animation seems jerky by comparison. And Rayman Advance allows you to save your progress. (Yes, I'm aware there is a cheat to allow you to select a starting level; this is not a good workaround, in my opinion).

I recommend you buy Rayman Advance and avoid Earthworm Jim. Developers should be encouraged to optimize their titles better for usability on each platform.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great addition for your GBA
When I first saw this game on GBA I knew i had 2 get it because I had hours of fun playing it on Sega. The Pros of the game are: 1. Good, solid Graphics 2. Smooth gameplay 3. Great sound fx and background Music. 4. A simple but challenging game which makes it so you can play it for quite a while.
The only thing I didn't like was that you could not save your game so you have to start all over if you turn it off or quit. But overall, this game is funny, excitind, and a must have for your Game Boy Advance.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this game!
Earthworm Jim? Cool game! I've played it on SEGA, and it was purdy good! I like it! Now it's on GameBoyAdvance! Cool! EARTHWORM JIM! EARTHWORM JIM! EARTHWORM JIM! EARTHWORM JIM! EARTHWORM JIM! It's cool, that you can shoot from pistol and crack these pesky starlings with your head. And the bosses aren't so boring like in the other games. Cool!

1-0 out of 5 stars this is not the same earthworm jim
i love earthworm jim, but this game is a very poor port of the genisis/SNES original. VERY poor control and poor frame rate make this game very disappointing to any one who enjoyed genisis/snes version. if you've never played those, then you may enjoy this piece of poop, other wise stay away from this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great New Spin-Off From Classic Game
This is a great new adventure for fans of Q*Bert. Although some of the sound effects are awkward, all of the original characters are there, plus more of the ones that never appeared in the classic game. Game play is still adictive, and the layout changes with each board.
Definitly recomended to those who like classic games, and don't mind seeing new worlds and stories for classic characters.

I will call this game simply odd. Odd but fun. This game is suitible for all ages but I think that the younger ones will like this game most. Amazon.com Review

Konami made a very strange decision when it chose to release this gamein the U.S. While the selection of role-playing games for the PS2 is currentlylimited, Konami could have selected from a number of strong RPGs it haspublished in Japan. Instead, the company serves up a mediocre offering inEphemeral Fantasia, a game that's originality is negated by frustratingand difficult gameplay, making it appealing only to hard-core RPG fans.

Unlike most RPGs, you won't be controlling a warrior. Instead you follow theadventures of a bard named Mouse. Some of Mouse's occupation-related tasksinclude composing songs and playing rhythm games similar to Konami's GuitarFreaks. Most of the game has Mouse reliving the same day over and over(think Groundhog Day). Although he's stuck in a time loop, he retains theitems and allies acquired each time he relives the day. It's an interestingtwist, but the plot eventually devolves into the usual saving-the-world drivel.

The game's graphics aren't going to impress anyone--there are several PS Onegames that look better. Further hampering playability are several lulls in thegame where you have to wait until a certain time before you can progress. Thiswouldn't be so bad if there were engaging side quests for you to take, but therearen't, so you're often stuck standing around town. When the action does pickup, it's often brought to a halt by extremely long load times. These frustratingaspects combined with the game's difficulty make it a poor choice for casualgamers. --Raymond M. Padilla

Pros:

  • Innovative combat system
  • Several attempts at originality
  • Cool minigames

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best but sill worth a look
In Ephemeral Fantasia you take the role of a musician/bard/theif named Mouse. Mouse and his talking instrument accept a job offer from the Island of Eternal Summer. Very quickly you soon find out not all is as it seems. Your mission is to break out of the time loop.

The repetitiveness of the game can be annoying (being stuck in a time loop) but after the first week you don't have to go to any of the events again unless you want to or are trying to recrute a certain character. Which makes this game very non-linear. The way you recrute characters is by convinsing them they are repeating the same week over and over. Its ok if you miss someone one week because you can get them next time.

Don't forget the mini games. I am not very good at the guitar mini game (which reminds me of guitar freaks) but thats ok. Its frustrating not to get a good score but it doesn't sffect the game's out come. Another mini game (there are others) is the drinking you play with Clair (a very inportant character to have). The first 9 times you beat her you get a piece of the map.

While were on the subject of the map, this is probably the most anoying part of the game. Find the different peices for the 'world' (island) map can be difficult and tiresome.

Its true the graphics aren't what you would expect for PS2, but really the're just different. Ephemeral Fantasia has a cartoonish anime look (which I like.)

I noticed this game hasn't been getting the best reviews. I think people are being to hard on Konami. I find this game challenging but entertaing and fun too.

What this all boils down to it that some people like it and some don't. Deffinetly rent it first. If you like non-linear RPG adventers deffinetly give it a try. Don't reviews sway your opinion until you try it for yourself. Try to keep an open mind.

4-0 out of 5 stars Konami is cool man
Those gamers who are familiar with Konami's other games will be in a for a real treat with this one. Most of Ephemeral Fantasia's problems arise from the fact that it wasn't created by Sqauresoft. Like Suikoden, the graphics aren't stellar and the music gets a little repetitive, but what it lacks in these areas it makes up for in involving storylines, multiple outcomes, an innovative and complex battle system, and challenging real-time elements. The positive aspects to this game far out-weigh the negatives. Most of the complaints surrounding this title stem from the repetitive nature of the time loop and the fact that the game is hard. My response to the second complaint is that it's about time we had a hard RPG for PS2, and that the game's difficulty is mitigated by the very existence of the ever-so-annoying time loop. If you die, the next week starts. Yes, you lose money and items, but the monsters on the island drop tons of dough and you can always get the items again (they even re-appear in the exact same places you found them before). At least dying doesn't take away experience a la Diablo II or Everquest. And you never forget moves or lose weapon upgrades. Furthermore, once you recruit a certain character the game provides you with a time vault that lets you stockpile a limited number of items and all the money you can find. I will say this though: without a guide of some sort, it's almost impossible to get things done. This is a convoluted game. I get the impression that the US got a dumbed down version of the game, which is funny considering how hard we seem to think it is. My overall conclusion: a good RPG with a great storyline and (FINALLY!) an interesting battle system. It starts out a little slow, but if you make past week one this game is a gem. Accept a challenge and pick this game up.

5-0 out of 5 stars good game, but here is the reason some people don't like it
i love this game, but people don't seem to like it. the reason being is that they lack the motor skills to hold down multiple buttons, thus, creating a bunch of babies across the internet. if you didn't like the game because of the graphics, then you need to stick your head into a blender. because almost everyone interested in RPGs loved final fantasy seven, and we all know about the graphics. so yeah, great story, somewhat difficult (need to get a hang of it), graphics were fine, overall good buy. loved it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Confusing so far (haven't finished it yet)
I got Ephemeral Fantasia from Hollywood Video, played it, then bought it. I played it, but then got so totally confused and stopped playing. I've started up again and am starting to get the hang of it. I have to say though, it's very difficult. I suggest you look up a walkthrough on the internet. It'll take you a while. But I LOVE the fact that you can save wherever you want to. That's a MAJOR MAJOR plus. And the 'guitar-playing' thing is really fun. The battle system is okay, I like that you can change view angles. The monsters could be a little better... at one time you have to fight bunnies in the forest XD. So I give this a 3 for the time being. I might change it when I find out how to beat this dang thing and have more content to rate. I just wish they could've renamed this game. It's a pain to type and spell. Oh, and by the way... Xelpherpolis is a scary Sephiroth-clone. Watch out for him. He's really mean ;).

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun to play!
I really love this game it has a interesting story and there are things you can do to make different video's come up just by saying yes, no or I believe you, your crazy! Plus the music is great! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I actually liked this game--not much to it though
Everybody seems to really hate this game, but it was the first one I got for the XBox and I actually had fun playing it. Maybe its because I'm such a Samurai junkie. True, its not very involved and probably only worth [less]. Gameplay is pretty simple...there are a couple of maneuvers but it mostly boils down to button-mashing. The graphics are neat in an offbeat kind-of-way, but definitely not what the XBox was designed for. I'm not very familiar with gaming systems, the XBox is my first since the Atari 2600 I had when I was 12...but I think this game is probably compatible to something from 5-6 years ago. Absolutely NOT worth buying if you don't have some obsession with Samurai dueling it out...its cool to a point, but nothing to write home about.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a horrible game, but definitely not a great game
My boyfriend and I bought this game on a whim. It was a bargain compared to other games like Mortal Kombat, and we figured while it looked hokey, it couldn't be that bad.

It did turn out to be worse than we had thought, but not by much. Despite the mention of a bunch of characters, the game is pretty boring. Some of them have special moves, but most of them done, and sometimes what they call unique character looks the same as another character, it just has a different name and wardrobe.

The single player mode is boring, you just try and earn a bunch of money so you can skip stops on the way to the capital, but it seems like no matter how much you earn, you can never move more than like 8 stops ahead. It's like the computer calculates how much traveling expenses are in such a way you're forced to play so many rounds.

The thing that was the worse for me was the soundtrack and noises. The Warriors make this sound that completely destroys any hope I had for concentration. I just laugh when they make their fighting whoops and dances because it sounds funny.

Overall I have to give it two stars. The first is because it's a low cost two person fighter. If you're short on money, but you want a game that will let you battle it out with another person, this fits the bill. The other star is because you can laugh at the game. It's ludicrous, the sounds are hokey, the music is annoying, and the characters are either cookie cutters of each other, or so wild they're laughable.

4-0 out of 5 stars {UNDERATED SAMURAI FIGHTING GAME}
Your first strike wins the crowd, your final strike wins the battle! As a fight promoter for a troop of Kabuki Warriors trying to travel from Edo to Ktoto, your actor/samurai must possess both strength and style. Along the way you will have to fight other Kabuki troops, garner the crowds favor to recieve tips, and trade warriors with your defeated counterparts. You will need a very accomplished group of samurai when you arrive in Kyoto to defeat the city's star troop. Fight warriors in winner take-all competitions, on stage across Japan. Pummel opponents and strike dramatic poses to gain the crowd's favor. Twenty-Four characters, with different weapons and unique attacks like fireballs, fire storms, lightning, and tornadoes. I urge you to rent this game before you buy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Kabuki Warriors.
Got any biscuits for sale in there? Took me four years to read the bible.

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't judge this game by its first impression-
Ok, let's get to the point. This game doesn't even come close to games like DOA3 or VF4. However, if you are just throwing away your controller down after playing the first match, then you are not really looking into this game deeply enough.

Ok, let's say if I were on a blinddate and my date is this really ugly girl- what should I do? Should I just tell her that she's fat and ugly and I have no interest whatsoever so have a nice day? Or should I at least see if she has a good personality? If you were on a blinddate with one thing in mind, to have a steamy date with a hot babe- then it's unfortunate that you met this ugly girl. However, if you don't mind the outer appearance and are looking for something substantial, then give yourself some time and you will see she's not that bad after all. Not bad after all.
Of course, DOA3 is way hotter than Kabuki Warrior, however, if you spend some 'QUALITY' time with Kabuki Warrior, you will see that she got something to share with you. If you have played the game through the end and HAVE PLAYED THE VERSUS WITH FRIENDS, KNOWING ALL THE MOVES, COMBOS(you are asking me COMBOS?? YES, BELIEVE ME, THERE'S SEVERAL COMBOS YOU CAN DO IN THIS GAME, SURPRISED?), THIS GAME IS TIGHT WHEN IT COMES TO GAME PLAY, REALLY.

You know, Niki was a really hot girl, yet she was high-maintanence(expensive) and arrogant(ok, because of her implant), didn't last that long with her.
However, with Martha, to whom I felt very comfortable with(look at the price!), gave me more of what I really wanted, gameplay, afterall.

If you are looking for a 2D game for XBOX and looking for something simple enough yet gets deeper to play with your kids, this would be an excellent choice. Please, don't judge this game with 1 min. of your playing time.

While not without its flaws,Quake III Arena goes well beyond just mimicking this experience forDreamcast users. It's the best PC-to-console port yet.

Quake III Arena is the first title to allow multiplayer, real-timenetworked gaming between Dreamcast and PC players. Hooking up through theSegaNet servers, players can go online and shoot it out with other people aroundthe world for the first time in console history. (We played with a keyboard anda mouse--the only way Quake III should ever be played--and with them weexacted my punishment on more than just a few unsuspecting patrons.)

A full slate of 25 nasty warriors has been rolled out for the Dreamcast game. The weapons--which range from shotguns and rocket launchers to lightning gunsand plasma guns--and effects also are packed in tighter than Charlie Tuna in hiscan. It also has all of the nifty springboards, quad damage, space-age dungeons, and everything that we loved about our favorite shooter on the PC.

The Dreamcast version has a large variety of gameplay options, including singleplayer, free-for-all, tournament, team deathmatch, and capture the flag, most ofwhich are open for play in two-to-four-player split-screen mode. The game'srendering engine achieves smooth and realistic texturing, and stunningenvironmental effects. The environments in particular are great, with dazzlingsky textures leading the way. Also, the geometry and large, detailed textures ofthe character models make them the envy of the console world.

The character's movements in Quake III Arena didn't feel nearly as smoothas in the PC version, because of a rather slow framerate. Compared to the PCversion, this one makes you feel like you're battling with one leg in concrete. While it's good for console and ambitious even for the Dreamcast processor, youfind yourself losing targets that you feel you should track with no problem. Onecan forgive Quake III Arena if at the end of the day you have somethinggood to play online. With Quake III Arena, something good this way comes.--Todd Mowatt

Pros:

  • Multiplayer, real-time networked gaming between Dreamcast and PC players
  • Smooth and realistic texturing, and stunning environmental effects
Cons:
  • Sluggish framerate

4-0 out of 5 stars fun and frustrating
WARNING: If you don't have a keyboard and a mouse, you might consider buying them before you purchase this game. It's really impossible to play well using the game controller. You'll get blown away so fast as you try to aim. Aside from the game control the game is amazing. The graphics are outstanding, especially on a VGA monitor. The game play is fast. There is virtually no lag time on the broadband even with four players. On the 56K connection, there is an occational lag, and I have yet to be booted out of the connection. Of course, playing on-line is the key to this game. Online game play is extremely addictive. There are plenty of levels to chose from--I think 30 or so. One player game is fun too. But the opponents are tough (maybe because I am a beginner). I'd say this is one of the must-purchase games for the Dreamcast.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good game
Quake 3 has some of the best graphics i have seen on the dreamcast. Besides the graphics, the gameplay is good too. This game really shines in the multiplayer and internet sections. It is so much fun to play online against people, and frag the hell outta them! =) I only occasionaly recieve lag while playing online. It is also fun to play a split-screen game against your friened. Why not 5 stars? The single player game gets old, quick. Its just you in arena going against computer AI players. If only they made the gameplay like quake 2 it would deserve 5 stars. Still, overall its a great game. I only occasionaly recieve lag while playing online.

P.S If you see "TREND" on a seganet server, prepare to be fragged! =)

2-0 out of 5 stars Not much fun...too hard to enjoy...HUGE DISAPOINTMENT
Quake for Dreamcast is a HUGE disappointment!!! The games has a useless, irrelevant single player on par with Outtrigger and since online in no longer available the game is all but virtually useless except if you have friends over.

The game play is a little too fast and control on the controller (although it can be customised) is difficult. Aiming and tracking enemies becomes unbearably difficult with the controller and brings the game down more than anything else!! Nothing is more frustrating than trying to dodge and return fire through strifing, it is accomplished much easier in Outtrigger!

Overall Quake Arena is a serious let down!! I have Quake 2 on my PC and enjoyed the single player missions which are in NO WAY found in Quake Arena! I was really excited to get this game as I read all the over-hyped reviews on this site and others...but my heart was broken by frustrating and frantic speeds coupled with annoying aiming or lack of aiming mechanism.

I was first introduced to the genre through the multi-player Deathmatch of Rainbow 6: Rogue Spear on the DC and that was a much better experience with my friends. The idea of stealth, sniping, throwing grenades around corners and planting c4 all made that title a much better investment. Quake Arena lacks ALL that and exchanges it with fast running... shoot... run out of ammo... run... run... shoot with no strategy... run etc. You get the point. The game simply has you running VERY fast and struggling to process all the action.

On the plus side the game has good graphics, sound and the ability to turn blood OFF...thats it the positives end there!

My final word is simply this..."Look elsewhere for a good FPS"

2-0 out of 5 stars PC is a lot better
The PC version is much better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Frag the ...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best PC to console port (along with Unreal Tournament for the DC) yet, Quake 3 is the king of multiplayer frag mayhem. There is some choppy frame rate at times, but its barely noticable because you'll be running and gunning your way through the arenas. You can pick to play as various characters such as the guys you played as in Doom and the original Quake, and the weapons are great too, I only wish the Rocket Launcher had auto aim like the Rocket Launcher in Unreal Tournament does. The single player mode will get boring once you beat it, but the multiplayer mode is what Quake 3 is all about. Whether its two or four player split screen, or you hook this bad boy online, your guaranteed one [heck] of a time. Get it while you can, the [other] version can't hold a candle to this Dreamcast gem. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Handheld for all Soccer Fans
NeoGeo Cup '98 is a great handheld game that I think all soccer fans would enjoy. You compete as one of 16 teams, each with their own special attributes, for the NeoGeo Cup and prize money. The better you do, the more money you win. Between games you can vist the soccer shop to buy items to outfit your team with. Want your goalie to be a wall? Then buy him a new shirt that increases his jumping skills. The possibilities are endless as you upgrade your players with up to two items apeice. Before long your team will be a juggernaut, and hopefully celebrating victory in the NeoGeo Cup. Enjoy!

3-0 out of 5 stars Neo geo cup
THis game is fun at first, but when you play it a long time it gets boring. The contols are easy, but it is hard to pass and score. i wouldn't recommed this for a older child but for younger children it would be fun

THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER
THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD THE GRAPHCS ARE THE BEST EVER! YOU GOT'A GET THIS GAME THE CREATE A PLAYER IS GOOD,THE GAMEPLAY IS GOOD,:Easy, simple and exciting! Real Soccer game play is yours on the NeoGeo Pocket! Enjoy three types of games: Single, 2 Person Play and Story. Choose your favorite from 16 teams and hit the field!

Sports Fun At Its Portable Best
Sports games have usually been problematic on portable gaming systems, given the weak processors and small screens of such systems. On top of that, you have desktop PCs and standard consoles delivering sports action that looks increasingly like the real thing, making a portable sports game seem pretty pathetic. This game takes advantage of the Neo Geo's 16 bit processor and great screen to deliver a very fun and wacky sports experience. The graphics are bright and the players big, though the small screen means you can't see too much of the field, and you don't get to pick a camera angle.

Where the game delivers absolute enjoyment is in the Neo Geo Cup mode, where you can play international tournaments, and with money gained from winning matches, buy items that improve the abilities of your team. Additionally, goofy characters show up to offer you items for a price (or sometimes try to steal what you have!). You can get fan mail if you're doing well, and at times you have to motivate your team with a pep talk. Winning the first tournament isn't too hard with some practice, but succeeding tournaments ramp up the difficulty and aren't easy to win without the right items.

The action is intense, and focuses a lot on individual contests for the ball -- passing is a little difficult because you see so little of the field. But discussing specific facets of the game doesn't do justice to just how much fun this game is -- I've logged dozens of hours while traveling playing this game, it's just so much fun, and the constant quest to gather that latest item that propels your team to the top is addictive. This and Metal Slug are among the must haves for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. ... Read more

Your mission is to take out infestations of monsters and mutant hordes before they do the same to you. Along with action-shooter play, the game includes an infection feature. A vaccine is available, but you'll have to outmaneuver the boss monsters and make it to a health station to get it, otherwise you'll face certain death. Extermination comes with its share of gore, and the soundtrack ratchets up the tension. Gameplay is action based. You can jump and roll in an effort to evade enemy infestations, or use your weapons, including a smart, customizable SPR4 assault rifle. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Very Good Game!
This game is excellant! It has a great storyline, great FMVs and fun to play. If you're a Resident Evil fan then I recommend to buy this game. Although if this is your first survival horror game then rent it.

What I mean is that the only reason I rated this 4 was because the controls are very rusty and hard to do. If you haven't played Resident Evil or Dino Crisis then you'll have a hard time with the controls and it will be very frustrating. So don't go and buy it if you hadn't played Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve or any of those Survivol Horror games.

Although the gaming is very good and you'll enjoy it. Get this game it is really good!

Pros-
Fun to play, Excellent storyline, fantastic FMVs (realtime graphics)

Cons-
Bad controls

5-0 out of 5 stars The great one
Extermination is probably the best fps game ever the storyline is awesome the graphics are dope and the game is just completeley realistic. One thing i found to good to be true is the option to customize your gun thats just plain awesome. You might think oh look mutated creatures going to kill everybody boring. But its not. It gets the feel of dino crisis just better. The game is fool of laughs if you have a good snese of humour. The main character Denis Riley sometimes sounds russian especially when saying Roger after Roger dies. The game has awesome fighting scenes and hard places where you haft to use your logic. Unlike rainbow six where you have several missions which are all the same boring and you think i'd rather ... a dead moose then play rainbow six. The game is based on one mission which is radical if i do say so myself. The mutations are so cool and the game is pretty hard. You haft to be very smart and attentive to play this game and remember its very realistic you need to get a artic sweatre thingy majigy to stop from freezing in the cold but thats later on in the game. This is one game worth saving for.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good not great
The game has a decent plot and is at times very difficult especially in the last third of the game. The controls are good in open spaces but become difficult when space is limited. Their are a number of down sides though: the atomactic camamra movements in the game tend to get rather annoying as it does not shift around corners until you use your sight. This tends to move you derectly past enemies and leaves your back exposed(I died at least 5 times with my back turned) entering doors does the same. And the fact is you are forced to run through the main part of the compound twice some rooms you are forced to return to even more often. Also near the end of the game some of the toughest enemies start to re-spawn. Despite this the game is still very playable at least the first time through. I would recomend renting this on a weekend when you have absoulutly nothing better to do. This game will defenatly take at a couple of days to get through...if your good at these types of games already.

3-0 out of 5 stars Like 'The Thing'
This game is pretty darn good, although I think it is very similar to 'The Thing' in more ways than one. It is set in the arctic, and the creatures are just like it, sloppy and slimey. I found it quite fun, although it can get excrutiatingly difficult and often I found myself out of ammo. pretty good, but only for desperate fans.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lcpl Blacks opinion
Personally I was dissatisfied with the purchase of this game. There is a severe lack of a solid storyline. And there was great deficiency in character connection. I am a Marine and we act nothing like Dennis Riley. The graphics were acceptable but as I previously stated their are good games and their are great games and a solid storyline and character connection separate good games and great games. There could have been a better selection of weapons as well.If you are looking for action that wont put you to sleep like pointless alien killing games will then spend your money elsewhere.Try Socom or Hitman 2. they kick more a-- than extermination does. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This is your best choice.
Wrestlemania 2000 is by far the greatest game ever created that featured the sock carrying Mick Foley or any other wrestling personality. All of the movements of the wrestlers moves are very lifelike. They put other games to shame. The career mode is challenging, and the King of the Ring and Royal Rumble modes add a little bit of extra life to the game. One of the greatest features is create-a-wrestler (C-A-W). You may think it seems limited at first, but in the long run, you will be very pleased. Unlike other games, this C-A-W allows you to edit the wrestlers currently in the game. Let's say "Stone Cold Steve Austin" has a character change and becomes "Nice Guy Steve". With the C-A-W you can give him his new outfit, theme, and everything else. If you don't buy this, you deserve to have the have the smack down layed upon you.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Wrestling game ever
Wrestlemania 2000 is the best wrestling game I've ever played. The control in this game is just much smoother than Attitude. You have to stop every 10 seconds to see how to do this move and the fluidity in how the characters move and animate is just incredible.Everything is in this game:The first accurate recreation of the peoples elbow complete with the waving of arms to Stone Cold's love of the middle finger(not to mention his smoking skull belt).Without a doubt the weakest part of this game is the sound. The hits and slams all sound nice but the crowd dosen't seem very entusiastic, no commentating(I miss the King's hilarious antics), and some of the song's don't play all the way to their entirety. But even with the lacidasical sound in the game you'll be to busy beatin the crap of your friends or the computer you proabaly won't notice it.Wrestlemania has to me the best create-a-wrestler there is.It may not have the largest selection of what you van do with the faces but the ranges of moves and taunts are so incredible you can create an army of warriors complete with there own personality and nothing beats seeing your created character come in and help in amatch. So if you haven't bought this game yet.Get your Roody Poo self to the store now and buy thid game and that's the bottom line cause I said so.

When I first got this It was around the time it first came out.
Man this game is awesome. They steel cage match, Hardcore match, and I can't remember but I think they had first blood?...I think...I don't remember.

The graphics were good for it's time. Gameplay was quick which is a good thing. It is also the first N64 game to have blood in a WWE game.

My favorite match is the steel cage. It's sooo fun but I wish they had a Hell in The Cell match.

Editorial Review

Despite some minor flaws, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing is a solid performer, delivering good arcade-style boxing action. All of the game's 18 boxers have distinct characteristics in keeping with their comically caricatured looks, including trademark special moves. In addition to arcade mode--where you fight in successive tournament-style bouts--the game features a championship mode in which you choose a boxer and train him to achieve Rocky-like status. To win the title fights along this road to victory, you must train your boxer in various mini-games to improve his abilities, as well as win prize and exhibition fights to raise money to pay for said training. A controller pack is required to save boxer data, and you're probably going to want to use the optional thunder pack to experience the full Rumble.

While the supported expansion pack gives Ready 2 Rumble Boxing crisp, high-resolution graphics, the game's speed could have used a boost as well, being distractingly inconsistent at times. And while the game certainly sounds good, the digitized dialogue can be annoyingly repetitive, none more so than sports announcer Michael Buffer's patented "Let's Get Ready to Rumble!" chant. --Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Good arcade-style boxing
  • Excellent 2-player head-to-head action
  • Challenging mini-games in championship mode
  • Ability to use customized boxers in exhibition fights
Cons:
  • Game speed is inconsistent at times
  • Repetitive digitized voices

5-0 out of 5 stars a very fun game to play. Let's get ready to rumble
This is a very fun game. I looked in the stores to see if I could buy it, but was disappointed, but when I finaly ordered this game! I found it interesting. Wow! I don't know what to say. I guess I'd like to start by thanking all my fans out there. Okay! enough already. Back to the game. I like all the boxers including Celene Strike, and Lulu Valentine. I also like Big Willy Johnson. It's been a long time since I played boxing games. I like this one because you can play two player. I like playing two player because you and a friend can play against each other, and knock each other down until one of you is aliminated. You know what I mean! when you get knocked out. I also like the line "Let's get ready to rumble" because it gets me ready to fight. You can use work out music while you're playing this game! because it'll make the game even more fun to play. I highly recommend this to future gamers. It's fun. Let's get ready to rumble.

4-0 out of 5 stars A cool boxing game, but could be better
This is only the second boxing game I've ever played, but it beats Super Punchout. This game has some cool features, like RUMBLE mode where all punches hurt more and super fast flurries fly.The characters were cool, too. From huge Salua Tua to tiny Lulu Valentine, all have some cool moves. The championship mode is cool, because it lets you manage three boxers, train them and gain access to different boxers. The multiplayer mode is suprisingly boring, but this game is almost good enough to buy.If you like games where you smack guys around or if you just like sports games, you should try it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun People, fun game!!
When I first saw this I Thought ...! Then I hear good things about it so I give it a chance. And then "WOW" this is cool.My sugjestion is do the original first before you run to buy the 2nd one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Boxing...Sweeeeeeet!!!
I love this game, you will never get tired of it and it has a great multiplayer, i play it all the time. Buy this game, you wont regret it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars For a boxing game it's great
From the previews on Tv for "Ready 2 Rumble Boxing," it looked like it would be a lot of fun. And for the most part it is. You choose from several boxers to either fight against a computer player or a friend. In 1 player, you can play a Championship mode and work your way up from #10 all the way to being the real champ. But it's not easy. There's not any special moves in "Ready 2 Rumble Boxing," which was the only bad thing about the game. However, you can use a lot of the recognizable punches from a jab to the uppercut by pressing different combinations of buttons on the controller. You can also block and dodge to keep from being hit. After you land so many good hits against your opponent, the word RUMBLE will be spelled at the bottom of the screen. When you see RUMBLE at the bottom, press A and B at the same time and your gloves will light up, making your fighter truly ready to rumble by making them stronger and faster. Once you get knocked down, you have to press the buttons as fast as you can to get back up and keep from being eliminated. After you get knocked down so many times, you lose. There are also other modes of play such as Exhibition fights.

"Ready 2 Rumble Boxing" has pretty good graphics and somewhat realistic character movements. Its control is easy enough to master in a short time, and the sound is probably the best aspect of the game. The man who is famous for the line: "Let's get ready to rumble" is the announcer and you can tell it's really him by the speech. To make the game even better, there's a few hidden boxers such as Kemo Claw and a huge creature that you can find by putting in the right code. There's also a random select if you're not sure what fighter you want.

"Ready 2 Rumble Boxing" is definitely the best boxing game I've ever played, after you get used to the controls and memorize how to do certain punches, it's a lot of fun. If you like boxing games, I recommend getting it as soon as you can. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Only a game for fans!
This game is very cool. I like the mini-games and the questions. This game is only recommended for south park fans, this is not a good game if your not a fan. The questions are repeated frequently, thats the only bad thing of this game. But i should recommend you to first rent it.

5-0 out of 5 stars FUN FUN FUN
An entertaining game using the South Park Characters. The questions aren't that hard. And the games are fun, play as one player first, you get more different types of games.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than you think.
This game is fairly good. I am going to write this review in Pros and Cons formation.

Pros:
Contains real voices from Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and the infamous Isaac Hayes.

Doesn't take too long to load. (WHAT OTHERS DON'T THINK)

Very funny mini games! (BAD KITTY)

Cons:
Gets some-what boring after a while.

Questions can be repeated during extended play.

Graphics look computer-drawn.

Overall, the game is pretty good, but only for South Park fans. It may be entertaining, but it has earned an M rating. Don't leave the package aroung children.

Thanks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chef's Luv Shack is awesome!
In my opinion Chef's Luv Shack is a great game for any South Park fan. You can play it with up to four players at a time. With hilarious games a questions, Chef's Luv Shack is number one on my party game list! You can play as Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, or Stan. All of the charcters have their original authentic voices, not some cheesy imitation. This game never gets boring and always makes you laugh.

1-0 out of 5 stars ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

4-0 out of 5 stars Works pretty well
The price is right! I don't plan on playing any rinky dink games on the VMU so I bought one of these memory cards. So far so good. On rare occasions in PowerStone a message flashes by about trouble with the memory card but then immediately disappears. No problems with my other game (Sonic) though. Weird.

2-0 out of 5 stars Memory Card is piece of c*ap
I have a Sega Dreamcast and I have the same memory card as everybody else and in my personal experience the thing always corrupets when I create player's,and I'm really tired of saving things. So I'm going to buy a VMU as well, tomorrow. Those reviews really helped alot. Thanks!

5-0 out of 5 stars It saves games, just like it is supposed to do
This is a MEMORY UNIT, not a VMU! In other words, it is just an MU, without the "V". If you want to save games, this will get the job done. I've used mine for two years without any problems. If you want a Visual display on your MU, then you need to buy a VMU. I give this product 5 stars because it does what it claims to do, and it does it well.

4-0 out of 5 stars It works!
This does what it says. SAVES GAME DATA. I gave it a 4 because it is not as good as a VMU. This was the first memory card I had and now I have 4 VMUs. So get a VMU but if you dont have enough mony this will do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Possibly my favorite videogame ever!
Yeah, "GTA: Vice City" is kind of a way of life, with ultraviolence and excellent music. And I have so many fine memories of hours wasted playing "Mortal Kombat." And I grew up in the coin arcade heyday of the early 80's, loving "Donkey Kong" and "Asteroids" and "Dragon's Lair."

But I also grew up playing with army men, creating intricate toy forts and staging battles in dirt dug-outs. And this game totally caters to that sense of nostalgia.

I love the graphics. I love the little details. I love the idea of combat between plastic men using toy weapons. The gameplay is great and, on the most difficult level, actually requires a decent amount of strategy. It's a game I can always go back to and enjoy and getting a good fight going between two players is about as fun as a game can get.

A modern classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE
I would have to say this was the best game I've EVER played! It has over 15 awesome missions where you save men or plain out DESTROY evil tan armies! In the game you are the sarge and your country relies on you to get the jobs done! Fire flamethrowers, bazookas, rifles or throw grenades or launch mortars. When the going gets tough you can always blow up a bridge with explosives! The only downside to the game is the graphics are not spectacular. Some time you only see a screen filled with green. But unlike a lot of reviewers will tell you, you can always make out the enemy or yourself! i would recomend this game to a first timer at Army men 3D. itis easy to figure out and a hacke of a lot of fun!

4-0 out of 5 stars Army Men 3D....
I ordered this game just because it was cheap a few days ago. Well when it arrived, i didn't think much of it and just layed it aside to do later. When i finally got around to it, i thought it was horrible. I cursed at the horrible controls, single-stick setup, and simplistic play. Who'd have thought that 10 minutes later i'd be loving it. At first it seems that the duck, roll, and aim features were just slapped on features added becasue every other game has them. But after i died once on the first level i realized how sophisticated this game really is. You have to learn how to use these things. The levels have cover spread out at perfect spots, near enemy soldiers. The typical way of atttack is run up to the cover, duck behind it, roll out, shoot, roll back in. Still, you can put these in any order that you want, or just forget the cover and do fancy rolling to dodge bullets while charging the enemy. But be warned: this game can get HARD! especially on any other setting besides easy. Overall, this game is worth buying. Even if the story is too simple and you dont really understand why you are doing the objectives (why do i have to get to the west end of town??), this is a great game to play in your spare time (its not the kind of game you'll really get into. But its still fun). BUY IT!!

5-0 out of 5 stars My 6 year old son loves it
I ordered it as a filler gift to be honest because it was 9.99 at the time. My mother was getting him some army man stuff and so I thought this would go along with that. It ended up being one of his favorite gifts lol... I spent over 100 for an air hockey table and he likes this 10.00 playstation game more.. lol.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's not just for looks
Sony did not just make this horizontal stand for aesthetic purposes. And like many people stated, it lends no physical support whatsoever to the console. But what it does do is save you the heartache and pain I went through. The PS2 is not supposed to be placed directly on carpet, in entertainment centers and should be raised somewhat when placed in bookshelves. Static electricity can be a problem, as it was with me because I did not have a stand. I had to get my console repaired/replaced because of some kind of a short due to the fact the console was not sufficiently isolated from the ground. Further, if the circulation around your PS2 is not really good, you need to raise it up off the surface to allow air to pass over, under and past it. This allows it to cool better and may help prevent accumulation of dust. Both of which can destroy the unit.

The only problem I have with this thing is that if a stand is essential for the PS2 to work (as they say in the users manual) why not put it in the box with the console, or build the unit so it is raised higher off the ground and better insulated? I think I know the an$wer....

2-0 out of 5 stars Very cool looking, but a waste of money...
According to Sony, when the PlayStation 2 was first designed, it included the blue bar that comes with the horizontal stand. For whatever reason, they decided to remove this feature. Maybe to get to get us to dish out another 10 bucks, but most likely because while it looks cool in the horizontal position, the blue bar would look pretty bad when the PS2 is used in the vertical position. Asides from that, the horizontal stand is completely useless. It does not add any extra stability to the unit, and when you pick up the PS2 to move it you must move the stand too, they do not become attached. If I were you, (and I did the same thing), I would put the 10 bucks towards a vertical stand, which is both cool looking and useful.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's actually pretty kool!!
I know that everyone believe that a horizontal stand is useless...but if you have an extra 10 bucks then go for it. Recently I purchased the horizontal stand in addition to the vertical stand. While I was using the vertical stand, my PS2 scratched my Tekken Tag and now it is defective and cannot be played. I reported the problem to Namco and they informed me that when the PS2 is placed vertically, it has a chance to scratch the game and that the problem should be reported to Sony. So anyway, now I only put my PS2 horizontally just in case...so I don't have to shell out another 50 bucks...When you put the PS2 horizontally with the stand, it looks pretty dope too. Give it a try!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good if you put it on the carpet
If you put your PS2 on the carpet or something similiar then this is the stand for you! It helps with keeping your Playstation 2 from getting so hot after hours of playing. It also makes the PS2 look better but it's not worth ten bucks just for looks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great stand but it is just for looks
I bought this stand over the vertical stand because i heard stories about the discs being scratched when the ps2 is in vertical position. I have been very happy with the stand so far. I am going to give the vertical one a try too ... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mayhem Rocks!
This is the absolute best Wrestling game in the entire world and I love it. No WCW fan with a playstation shouldn't have it.

The best thing about this game is the amount of Wrestlers. There is about 30 at the start of the game and there are loads more to win. When you have won them all there is about 60.

Mayhem offers 12 pay-per-view arenas, more than any other Wrestling game I can think of. There is Bash at the beach, The Great American Bash, Starrcade, Spring Stampede and loads more. The game also features Monday Nitro, Thursday Thunder and Saturday Night arenas. One thing I can't understand though is why they didn't put the Mayhem arena on, the game is called that isn't it?

Some people have complained about Mayhem's gameplay but I like it(yes!) because it is quite slow so you can figure out the controlls and get prepared for the next move.

The graphics are cool and the camera angles are really ace.

Mayhem's create a Wrestler mode is really good. You can create Zombies and Monsters as well as Human Wrestlers. When you have created a Wrestler put him into a match and see how he fares against WCW's Superstars!

In the game there is a Pay-Per-View password screen where you type in a password and it takes you to an already made Pay-Per-View.

Over all Mayhem is a fantastic game. The only bad thing about it is there are no cage matches and no hidden rants like on the WCW Thunder and WCW Nitro.

My final thing to say is this: Buy it if you're a WCW fan, don't if you're not. And if you've not a fan of Wrestling don't buy it either.

Happy Grappling!

2-0 out of 5 stars WHY WHY WHY!
This game is terrible! I cant believe EA tried to make this game. First of all the conrol is aweful, terrible. I mean the moves are really hard to pull off. The graphics are OK but they could of been alot better. They were poorly done. They are way to short. Now lets talk about the gameplay. Well lets start with the create a player mode. I have one word to describe this mode. The loading times are really slow. I mean whatever I do it loads. Its also way to short. You can hardly chose anything. Well maybe the best part of the game is the soundtrack. The commentary is pretty good. And the cheers and the grunts makes you think you are right at the match! But with the poor graphics and bad gameplay makes you think you are at a circus. If you are looking for a good wrestling game get wwf attitude or wait for wwf smackdown to come out. But im warning you whatever you do DONT GET THIS GAME!

3-0 out of 5 stars Worth playing five years later
WCW Mayhem is a relatively old game (the 'WCW' should give that away) it was initially released in 1999. Yet it still has enough entertainment value to be worth a play even today.

1. Sound. The best sound effects I've ever heard on a wrestling game. I've played many titles in this genre, including Wrestlemania XIX and Legends of Wrestling II, and Mayhem is superior to both. The crowds roars and jeers, the thuds and slams, go together to make a fantastic atmosphere. Even better is the two man commentary, and it's like you're watching it on TV.

2. The wrestlers. Coming from the late 90's WCW era, this has got some of the biggest superstars in wrestlin history gruped together. Hollywood Hogan (as he was then), Macho Man Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Sting, Bret Hart, Lex Luger, Goldberg, Curt Henning, Scott Steiner, Rick Steiner.....it's a great line-up. I'd say it's the best line-up in any wrestling game until this years Showdown: Legends of Wrestling. There's 50 wrestlers all together.

3. The wrestling itself. Don't expect super-fast gameplay. Don't even expect the pace of the latest wrestling games. Expect the methodical, paced action of late 80's wrestling. It's spot-on. I haven't seen such an accurate representation of the speed of wrestling in any other game.

4. It's for PS1, so it's incredibly cheap now. I picked up a secondhand copy from this very site for a mere £1.99. Two pounds, and to think it used to cost about £34.99 originally. As far as value for money goes, it's a five star purchase.

Now the negatives. The graphics are weird and not especially attractive - the crowd is just a flat block of coloured blobs. The weak collision detection means your punches will often miss at point blank range. There's no season mode, you just fight for titles and defend them. The Create A Wrestler mode is so basic you won't be able to make any of your favourite wrestlers not in the game already. You can, however, make a knight in armour...

To sum up, WCW Mayhem is not the greatest wrestling game on the market. No matter what console you have, there is atleast two better games avaliable. For the PSX/PS1, WWF Smackdown and Smackdown 2: Just Bring It. For the PS2, four Smackdown games, and three Legends of Wrestling games. For the XBox, WWE Raw & Raw 2, and three Legends of Wrestling games. And for the GameCube, Wrestlemania X8 and XIX, and two Legends of Wrestling games.

Nevertheless, I'm still playing Mayhem today and I have both Wrestlmania XIX and Legends of Wrestling II on my shelf. The commentary, the wrestlers avaliable and the accurate pace of real wrestling make this unique and enjoyable. Add to that the fact that it's ridiculously cheap (even if you only played it for one night, you'd still get value for money), and you're looking at a worthwile purchase.

3-0 out of 5 stars Awkward controls make for limited mayhem
WCW Mayhem seems like a pretty fun game at first. You have over 50 WCW wrestlers at your disposal, the ability to take the fight backstage to one of twelve different areas, ring entrances for each wrestler, a choice of six different types of match, a smattering of weapons lying about such as bats, chairs, and - my favorite - tasers, the ability to wrestle (in all of the historical rings from important WCW events) in exhibition and pay per view matches as well as go in quest of titles leading up to the coveted heavyweight championship belt, and the option to create your own wrestler. Another important aspect of the game is the color commentary provided by Tony Schiavone and Bobby the Brain Heenan. It doesn't take long for some of these plusses to start feeling like minuses, however.

I am not a big fan of the new manner of controlling your wrestler built into this game; it is much less intuitive than older WCW-based wrestling games, and I often find myself able to come up with only a very limited number of moves; still worse, I constantly find myself repeating moves I had no intention of repeating. The announcers do at least have fun with this, talking about move repetition in disparaging terms as it is going on. Their overall banter, though, while quite funny at times becomes repetitive itself after a short while. Even the overexcited shouts of Schiavone declaring a victory in the ring grow stale, as do his constant calls for someone to stop the bloodbath and call for help. I never get tired of the Brain, though; he is always hilarious.

I don't think the graphics here are much of an improvement over older games, either. There's really not a lot of difference in audio and visual between WCW Mayhem and earlier WCW games for the Playstation. You can fight backstage now, which is cool, but the graphics are largely unimproved and the gameplay is awkward and sometimes annoying. I would much rather play the older WCW/NOW Thunder than I would WCW Mayhem, when it comes right down to it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not that great
I bought this for my 7 year old son and he played it for about 7 minutes before tossing it into the "games he never plays" box. Not only are most of the fighters out dated but it was hard for him to even figure out how to use 2 player mode, he thought it was 1 player only until I read the instructions on how to access the 2 player mode. He is usually very quick to pick up on how to play a game but this one was set up in a dumb manner. Also, the announcers are annoying and keep saying the same thing over and over. Even though it was very cheap it still was not even worth it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The best Gameboy colour game.
It is too hard but it is still miles ahead of anything else on the Gameboy colour. I am not that good at hanhelds but I manged to get pretty far in the game and I have beaten Venom, The Lizard, Hobgoblin and Venom again. I am now fighting Venom a 3rd time and have found I can't beat him. The birdds are also pesky too. But it helps that the better you play the more points you get which gives special moves which makes fighting a hell of a lot easier. I have had a lot of fun with this game and as soon as I learn how to beat Venom again I will no doubt have more fun with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spiderman Game Boy
my 12 year old son bought this with Christmas money. He loves the game and it has renewed his interest in his 3 yr. old Game Boy....wanted to get Game Boy advance but we discouraged. Great seller, fast transaction

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as one would think
Before Spider-Man became a box office smash and became everyone's favorite hero, Activision changed the way super hero licensed video games would be by releasing the surprisingly great Spider-Man games for the PS1, N64, and Dreamcast. Eventually a GameBoy Color version would be released, and while it's nowhere near anything great, it is surprisingly solid and challenging. The graphics are typical 8-bit side scroller fare, but are colorful and well animated. Controls are simple and the enemies (especially Venom) are very challenging. This game is also surprising in the fact that it is more solidly realized than any other 8-bit or 16-bit home console game that was nothing more than a repetitive beat 'em up with a comic license attached to it. All in all, those who only have a GameBoy Color and are fans of the web head should give this a whirl.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of Son's Favorites
My 8 year old son has a bunch of GBC and GBA games (still has both controllers, even though GBA will play GBC games). Still, this GBC game is in his top three. He plays it all the time. So, gotta give it a five-star rating.

3-0 out of 5 stars TOO HARD!
ok i bought this game because i thought it was gonna be like the playstation game but i was totally wrong. u lose half ur health trying to kill a bird. i mean u have to find all these passages to get to a next level. even with the web ball it's still impossable i suggest u think about getting a diffrant game ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Works Great for Me
I don't know what happened to the reviewer who said his graphics were fuzzy using this switch. Maybe he got a defective one. All I know is when I used mine to hook my old SDC to an old spare TV, it worked great! I couldn't tell any difference in video or sound from using the original cables.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ridiculous
The adapter is toublesome in the very least. First time I hooked it up the graphics of Jet Grind Radio were fuzzy, and scratched, so I thought maybe it's just the game. Nope! Every DC game I have used through the adapter play through scratchey noises and off-set colors. Bad!

5-0 out of 5 stars What can i say?
Without out this, i would be trying to connect my DC to my TV through a couple phono cables (which is possible, but not with the equipment i have).

5-0 out of 5 stars What can i say?
Without this, i would be trying to use phono jacks to connect my DC to my TV, which is possible... just not easy when you don't have the right equipment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Maximize Your Graphics
This product was excellent. If you want the best graphics possible, get this. It is also very cheap and effictive. 2-0 out of 5 stars what?????????
I cant believe it ko kings 2k was so much better. I think the thing that did it for me was the lack of realism, I mean whe they punch the arms look like their about to fly out of their sockets. Also they dont even look like their boxing the boxers have no facial expression at all.
One thing that is cool is the Career mode thats the only reason this game even got two stars the thing is when u play the career mode its just a little to easy to beat, even the last fight i beat my first try. All i have to say is the game was very dissapointing and didnt show the potential of EA sports, sorry guys I just cant give this anymore than 2 stars.Adios!

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok.
Neat game. The punching and movements are slow, but overall is a fun game.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a good game.
I like this game because it's a fighting game. I have rented this to see if I like it, and I found that I actually like this game. I like the fight commentaries because they are cool. I highly recommend this to any Boxing fan.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth the price
It may not be the best computer game ever written. There are some with more realism and better graphics, but what the heck it isn't all that expensive. My son and I are having a good time beating each other up.

There is one very cute thing in the program. EA put in a boxing stadium in Redwood Shores California where they are based. The funny thing is that there is no bxing arena in Redwood Shore!! It is just where EA is based. I thought that was a nice touch.

Go ahead and get it, just don't expect it to be an earth shattering experience.
