5-0 out of 5 stars second to no RPG, strategy or not
after feeling somewhat indifferent to FFT's slow gameplay and overly serious (and frankly, uninteresting) politic-based storyline, not to mention its downright broken methods of leveling which meant hours throwing rocks at your allies to get experience points, it's a massive breath of fresh air to see a game with this much spirit and style come out with everything i actually liked about FFT and none of the things i didn't. it improves on virtually every single aspect of FFT. its battles are lightning-quick, managing characters is extremely easy, the "portal" which lets you re-visit maps (random battles in a strategy RPG weren't my idea of fun in FFT's case), the use of entirely new elements such as item levels which you can modify, specialists which you can find and assign in the game to your weapon to increase its stats (this is thankfully not a matter of looking on a FAQ to find out where they are, as they are randomly put on the map and you must capture them), an extremely engaging storyline, top-notch voice acting (in dual languages!), the always tantalizing concept of infinite power (read: start from level one, get to level five thousand), a massive list of secrets including entire worlds, items, character classes, and side stories, the "Dark Assembly" political aspect of the game which revolves around your parties' tie-in with the government to gain an advantage in battle (it is possible to bribe or persuade by force the senators who can help you), the ability to capture monsters on the field and have them work for you, the extremely well executed idea of tactical team combat, the use of "geo panels" which modify the field and can be manipulated to your advantage, "transmigrating" characters, i could go on and on about the depth of this game. it's also fantastic that although it may seem intimidating during the in-game tutorial, you do not have to master every concept to get by in the game and still have fun with it. its graphics are stylish, its soundtrack not without several stand-out gorgeous tracks, its second-to-none gameplay, and an extremely high fun factor make this game an absolute classic. highly, highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best game you've never heard of.
You might remember a game called Final Fantasy Tactics. This is a similar game, but is sooooo much better in almost every way.

You play Larharl, the Demon Prince of the Netherworld. You've just awoken from a two year nap to find your Father, the Overlord has died, and everyone else is fighting over your throne. So, with your not quite faithful vassal Etna and a squadron of Penguins, you set out to reclaim your birth-right.

Sound funny? Well it is. The storyline is played out in Episodes, and is full of pop culture references, [physical] innuendo, and a few bad puns. And despite that, the characters have depth. And they're not the only things.

Aside from the storyline battles, you can delve into the hidden world in literally every item in the game. These dungeons are randomly created, and can go down up to 100 levels (or more?). Each level you complete makes the item that much better, in addition to affording you more XP and items. And there's also the Dark Assembly, a Congress of Demons who can make serious changes to the basic game, if you bribe them enough or beat them into submission.

But beware... This game will eat up every free second you have, and a some you don't...

2-0 out of 5 stars Not that great.
This game is one of the reasons that made me realize I should research things before becoming impulsive and spending my hard earned money on crap. Not that this is total crap. I was attracted to the anime. And it does have some humor in the storyline, and sounds.

However when I started playing, I realized that the game play was too much like playing puzzles. Gets redundant and dull and boring. And the music is annoying. Just not my type of game but that's just my opinion. I prefer Final Fantasy type RPGs.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS GAME ROCKS!

5-0 out of 5 stars little known awesome game...
this is one of those games that has to be played to be believed. sure no flashy graphics and absolutely no hype but this game really shines. if you are a fan of strategy games especially final fantasy tactics, this is the game to get. only problem is this game is a little hard to find as of now, but atlus is re-releasing it in late may due to the overwhelming response to the game.

all in all a great game that can easily suck up hours upon hours with more customization and features than you will know what to do with, and that is a good thing... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You must read this.
Listen to me, ignore any negative review. If someone were to give this game a bad review, it must be because of their lack of good taste, for this is one of the greastest games on the planet.
Sure 4 games can be alot of money, but remember, each volume of the .hack games comes with a free dvd! No extra charge. And on the dvd theres an anime titled: .hack//liminally.
Now your probably thinking, "Well if its free, then it must be some cheap anime." Not true. In fact this anime was created by some of the cast who worked on the great "Ghost In A Shell."
Its packed with extras too, which will keep you entertained hours on end.
Now to talk about the game. Do I really need to say it? .hack is best RPG series since the good ol' Final Fantasies. Sporting even better graphics this time, even more items, skills, gameplay elements, levels, grunties, and unlockable desktop wallpapers, movie cinematics, and backround soundtracks.
Sure, this game is gonna cost alot of money. I mean, theres 4 total volumes. But each volumes delivers new stuff. And as before, great boss battles arrive, filling up your screen with action. There are still new chracters arriving too, and the storyline is equal to such greats as Kingdom Hearts and the Final Fantisies, as I said in my .hack//infection review.
So what are you waiting for? Have you played the two previous volumes? Then buy the third. Are you new to the series? GO buy the first volume.
Trust me, anyway to Log In is a good way, till the very end.

5-0 out of 5 stars dot hack Outbreak (part 3)
This game was the greatest of the three dot hacks I haven't played 4 but it seems to be the best. You get new people after you beat the second one you get to use Wisemen in the 3rd one you find out that Mistral is pregnet and is a housewife it's crazy but I give this game five out of five it was hard at the end for me becuase I thought I could beat the last boss at level 72 but I couldn't so I gained more levels and then I went to the area where the red wand was found and beat that you see a new guy laughing and disaper out of thin air. and you get Sora's Blade which is a rare level 34 which is cool it glows white. when you fight the last boss use the new blademaster and Blackrose which you have to do. The new blademaster is level 60 which ruled for me becuase I went to hard levels and gained mondo exp. you get a new Heavy Axe which is a girl you find out that she is level 1 which is a laugh what I did was gave her level 60 heavy items and a level 34 heavy axe. and I went to the first area to a level 18 and made her up to 20 then I left to the other area and I got her up too level 70.

3-0 out of 5 stars first review
Never played. Enjoyed the earlier games. I suggest buying this game if you played the earlier games. A summary of the series is that it is a real time back and forth RPG game. Like EverQuest with a storyline.

4-0 out of 5 stars .hack//outbreak
While .hack// is quite a phenomenon, a review of the enjoyment of this game has nothing to do with the anime series (although fans of the series can find little easter eggs in the game series).

The strengths of .hack//outbreak are the same as the first two in the series (.hack//infection and mutation): it has a great plot line, interesting new skill system, easy to use interface, and you can continue on your character into the next of the series. This is as expected, there were no changes to the game design. Despite this, I found this game to have lost some of its excitement (relevant to the series, it still found this game more exciting than other comparable games, like FFX or X-2).

In my opinion, they introduced a weakness to the series by making this a 4 installment series rather than a 3. I've started the 4th game and am very excited, but due to the total series game play hours and the layout of the plot, it would have been better as a 3 game series (with no plot changes, just the quantity of material per release changed). Go capitalism.

Like the previous game, if I were to say this game had any other weakness, it would be that it is quite a bit shorter than many comparable games. With completion of the story line (in this installment), the extras, and just having a little fun, I completed the game in about 30 hours.

Overall, the .hack//outbreak is a must have if you wish to play the series. I don't think that the series would have been as much fun if I did not play all of the installments. Having finished the first three game, .hack//mutation is my favorite of the series so far, but quarantine may very well take that throne once I finish it.

1-0 out of 5 stars average rating --- 2 stars
4 short games, 50 dollars each. Now, 2 games would have been fine. 4 games is a joke. The creators are obviously trying to mooch all the money they can. The first game got repetitive. They have taken it to a whole new level.

You still do the exact same things. If you find a great sword you can't use it, but you can give it to the person who wants it. If you get to the bottom theres a boss and a cutscene. Later you go into another dungeon that looks EXACTLY the same as the last one.

The game fails to prove it's own worth. Now, if they only made 2 long games, as I have said, that would have been fine. Get a new engine guys, or a new concept. It doesn't work 4 times in a row. ... Read more

Yet another Simpson game and yet another dissapointment....If that's what you were thinking then you are definitaly wrong. This game IS The best Simpsons Game Ever. Basically all of The Simpsons Games that have come out were a big dissapointment and the fact that I actually bought the previous games was because I was a Simpsons fan.

Ok anyway lets get on to the review. This game really tried to copy the gameplay of "Grand Theft Auto" but it has not come close. The game just lacks the true gameplay of GTA but that doesn't mean that this still isn't a good game. Anyways here is the review brought up into 3 sections (graphics, sound, gameplay)

Graphics-At first when I played the game I was amazed with the Graphics and how descriptive it was from the T.V. Show. You can't miss one thing here it's just like Springfield as you would imagine it.

Sound-The game has the actual Simpsons cast and they do a very good job with the voice acting.

Gameplay-Now this is the part where the game really suffers. The game is brought up with 7 big levels with many missions in each. In each level, you get a different character, this is how the rotation goes:

Level 1-Homer
Level 2-Bart
Level 3-Lisa
Level 4-Marge
Level 5-Apu
Level 6-Bart(again)
Level 7-Homer(again)

One thing that bothers me about this is that you get Bart and Homer again and there are 4 levels here with the same place. Another thing that is weak about the gameplay is that many of these levels are so repetitive and boring. Most of the missions you either have to get to a place in a certain amount of time, destroying cars, gathering items, etc. After you are done beating the game, the game still gives you stuff to do such as collecting cards, finding gags, destroying wasps, unlocking cars, etc.

Final Ratings:
Sound- 8/10
Graphics- 10/10
Gameplay- 6/10
Replayability- 8/10

Recommendation (Rent or Buy)-If you are a Simpsons fan then I strongly suggest that you go out and buy this game. If you aren't a Simpsons fan, I would go out and rent this game or rather just stay away from it.

If you have any questions or comments regarding my review or the game please send an email to

great graphics. kewl storyline and its kewl drivin all the different cars. it is awesome. i dont like the minigames and wen u finish the game there's not that much to do. wen u get some cheats they're awesome too.

1-0 out of 5 stars JUST PLAIN BAD
this was one of the worst games that i have ever played in my life. for starters, it has that horrible swerve camera that if you stare at it enough, it makes you want to throw up(nautious).the gameplay is also just plain stupid. i mean cmon....why are bart and his sister driving cars??? another thing is that it gets boring wayyyyy to quickly. how many times can you do the same boring mission over and over without wanting to smash your TV?! i would reccomend somebody to NEVER BUY THIS AND NEVER RENT THIS GAME!!

5-0 out of 5 stars GTA only better!!!
Simpson's Hit and Run is honestly the single most fun game that I have played in years. With the GTA type setup it has what plenty of peoply are obviously looking for since GTA sold like it was going out of style.
Hit and Run is VERY FUN, it's funny, and it allow you to experience Springfield in a way that Simpsons fans like me have always wanted to. The game even includes some special famous Simpsons locations like Kamp Krusty!!! Also by the end of the game you will have had a chance to walk in all of your favorite characters shoes.
Simpsons Hit and Run is by far a must buy. I strongly give this game a 10 oout of 10 stars in my book.
PS don't worry the game is not like Road Rage at all!(haha)

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
This is with out a dout, the best simpsons game ever made. Strange things are happening in springfeald. Wasp Camras, Black Vans and Crop Circles. And Homer, Apu, Marge, Leisa and bart must save the day. You drive and run in this 3D World. You visit famous Landmarks, like the simpsons house. This is like a kids version Grand Theft Auto. In short bye this game. ... Read more

I liked this game because I got to control the ships. If you are looking for a game that you comand the navy this is it. It's pritty easy, and doesn't have the best graphics, but you get to here poeple yelling, and ships blowing up. I would recommend you rent it before you buy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars not as in depth as the first
just bought this game 2 days ago and ihave probably logged in about 8 hours total.i started playing as the US and i have already pushed japan all the way back to iwo jima.its a pretty simple game in comparison to the first in the series.the real time battle scenes are cool and the graphics are great but i think battleships would probably hold up alot better in real life. they sink in record time due to enemy bombers and torpedo planes.also when you reinforce your base with airplanes (thats all they need no more soldiers or fuel!) they automatically appear wherever you want them so its possible to take okinawa and immediately make it virtually impregnable.overall i liked it although i will leave my snes hooked up for when i want to actually have to think about what i want to seems like this game is more geared toward your 15 year old kid than anyone does have great shots of the ships and aircraft of the war, all rotateable so you can view it from any to jaded on pc games now i think.i give it an 4star for instant playability and good visuals.

1-0 out of 5 stars this game is the worst game ever
This game is sorry you do not do any thing but sit there and move fleets of ships and sit there and watch your ships get sunk during raids. This game is not even worth a -5 stars I put one because that is the worst i could put. I hope this helps u to make your mind.

4-0 out of 5 stars Give it a chance!
This seems to be a game that people either love or hate. Is it as good as PTO II? Not even close. The main reason is the lack of ground forces. This takes away a LOT of strategy and options in the game. Also the music dosen't do much for the game like it did in PTO II. Also, the AI is seems to be much weaker than in PTO II, but it can still be a lot of fun if you're willing to look past these things.
The new menu allows you to build your warmachine and manage your resources much better than before. Also, the promotion of commanders is much clearer, and the fact that they can control individual ships is a lot better than having them control the entire fleet. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses, and they fit better on one type of ship than another. Also, bringing Germany and Britain in as playable nations was a great idea. For you history buffs, there are bios on ALL commanders, ALL planes and ALL ships that tell you what they did in the war. There must be at least 50 techs that you can reasearch and a lot of planes and ship classes too. They even threw in planes and ships that never saw combat, but were planned. The Germans built 3 prototype fighters that looked earily similar to the stealth bomber. Build some of those and watch those P-51s drop like flies.
Some say this game is too easy. OK, an experienced palyer fighting with an ally can probably win the game in less than 8 months game time. But, if you want a REAL challenge, try winning the war fighting three nations. Every single decision you make MUST be the right one, or you WILL be crushed.
I bought this game aobut six months ago, and I still play it to the wee hours of the morning. I still think PTO II was the best game of the franchise by far, but I do not regret buying this game.

3-0 out of 5 stars pushing graphics, forgeting game play.
I was really blown away by the graphics in the newest version of the P.T.O. series. My first run through the game was alot of fun. Although the game is too EASY!!! I also think the depth of the previous games was not even close to being matched. To take control of a base or region in this game all you must do is destroy 1-3 air fields. NO GROUND TROOPS!!!!! So rent it for a weekend or better yet go hook up your SNES and play P.T.O. II. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS GAME IS AWESOME
I just started watching Buffy a few months ago, but have managed to watch every single episode. I then heard that a Buffy game was to be released on X-Box, Gamecube, and Playstation 2. After buying the game on Gamecube, I was not disappointed. The graphics are amazing, the controls are very easy to use, the storyline's great, and for fans of the show there are interviews with the cast. You can play as Buffy (slayer), Faith (evil slayer), Willow (witch), Xander (he's funny), Sid (he's a dummy), and Spike (vampire). Some weapons in the game are holy water, hellfire, shovels, stakes, swords, battle axes, crossbows, and water guns filled with holy water. I'm not a very huge fan of fighting games, but this game really grabbed me. Some levels contain bosses, and you'll notice some villains (and ex-librarians/watchers) were made into bosses. This game is definitely a must-have for all fans of the action genre, as well as fans of Buffy.

chaos bleeds
not having an xbox i was waiting for a buffy game that i could play. boy was i relieved when 'chaos bleeds' was released. when i bought it i really didn't care it was buffy-related and i could be spike. that was incentive enough for me. after starting the game, i was sucked in real quick and wrapped myself up in the story like it was an episode of buffy. the writing is superb and as well is the voice acting. at first listening you'll notice that it isn't alyson hannigan voice when willow speaks but within moments you'll completely forget. also, the voice for buffy is dead on with smg except for one second when she says tara wrong...but its all good.

the controls are tight. when you're playing as either buffy or faith, you can bring up a slayer handbook with alott of combos that might take a while to memorize. willow also has a spell guide that you can call up to learn a spell. also, willow learns spells when tara periodically tells what to do. the camera is kinda off but its definitely one of the best for a 3rd person game that you can rotate it around and see any direction you want. but its kinda hard to do that in a tight space.

the surroundings are fantastic and resemble their actual locations in the buffyverse. also, one of the funny things in the game is in the movie theater in the sunnydale level. you'll see posters for fight club, aliens, alien resurrection and so on. the levels are huge and the tasks hard if you don't know what to do and for first time players most of the levels might take well within 90minutes or so. each character has their own strengths as well as weaknesses but the majority of them show no weakness. the only 2 might be xander & willow. xander being the norm of the group but he handles just fine. willow doesn't kick at all. she punches and does magic. as for the magic most of the time you'll call up the fireball, sunspell and homing missile [well i do].

the multiplayer is sweet. it has about 20 characters or so. you start off with 4 characters and one level to play with. as you progress through the game, you'll find secrets and unlock levels and players. one of the gripes i have is the lack of multiplayer levels and the femal vampire isn't the one wearing plaid pants. but those are all minor gripes here.

the game is solid. it'll suck you in if you're a hardcore buffy fan. all in all, its one of the best games i've ever played. i hope they can continue this tradition and make another.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buffy the vampire slayer
I'm up to Faiths level on the buffy game for the Xbox. And i can't do the last bit of the level. I've found the rest on the game mint, but i have to keep on going to the tart of the game. I think the game should have been like the first Buffy game that they brought out for the Xbox, where they had different level but it also had checkpoints, you know like you got to a serton pace and it would save the game and you could continue from there, it shuld be like that instead of going right to the start.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sickest Game EVER!!!
I played this game and it was sick!It is fun, challenging, exciting, hillarious sometimes, and scary! Its the best of both worlds!!!WE WanT AN ANGEL AND ANOTHER BUFFY GAME OUT!!!!PLEASE!!!!Put back Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel back on air!!!!!!or we will be quite upset with Joss Wheadon and Marti Noxon!!

with love Alexandra and Lauren

WE would also like to be part of the show cuz we're the numba one fans and we have so many ideas!!
joss keep us in favor and bring the show back!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This game rocks!
This is the most awesome game! I finished the entire thing in less than 72 hours. Very unfortunately, however, there were some characters whose voices are different than the TV actors, but the only two with different voices that really matter are Buffy and Willow. Buffy and Faith have amazing fight moves, and they're very easy to manage. Willow's magic is GREAT! You rarely have you use medi-packs. Spike's moves are really good but he's hard to fight with because he's probably the biggest character. And Xander's pretty good, but the women are really better to use, and also his moves aren't the best. Seriously though this is a great game. ... Read more

If you like motorcycle games you will love this game. It is the motorcycle simulator of all times. You have a new cockpit view which makes it even more realistic. The graphics are awesome!!

Definetley buy this game, its the best racing game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game!!
I agree, this is the most realistic motorcycle racing game I have ever played. The multiplayer mode is a blast. Especially the 4 player mode. The career mode is great as well, since it almost forces you to work your way up through the ranks of motogp. Wish the bikes were appropriately named but if you know anything about bikes its not that hard to figure out what each bike is actually based on. Definitely, BUY THIS GAME!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars If you have MotoGP 2, don't waste your money
IMHO, this game is a ... Virtually exactly the same as MotoGP 2. They want to sell you on the new cockpit view, but good luck controlling the bike in this view. If you don't have MotoGP 2, go for it because it's still fun. Otherwise, there are better things to spend [$$$] bucks on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!!
We have all heard of SOCOM 2, the squad based army game. Unfortunately, this game is rated Mature, and so is the first game. Everybody wants this game because of all the great reviews, but many kids cant have Mature-rated games. Conflict: Desert Storm 2 is the SOCOM of teen games. This game really gives you the ultimate army experience. You can also be four different teammates in your special forces squad, each with their different skill. Including anti-tank weapons and sniper weapons. Another thing that makes this game great is the fact that in most missions,it is your choice wether you want to go stealthily, or just go out and shoot everyone. But its not all that easy. Set the game difficulty to hard, and you wont be laughing anymore, unless you use the skills given to you. If you are a rookie-gamer, this is a great game to play. With three different difficulty settings (easy, medium, hard)this is a game for all levels of gamers. This game really gives you the full army experience, because unless youre putting the game at a difficulty setting lower than what it should be for you, you are going to need to use all the skills you are given in order to be victorious. I will challenge whoever plays this game to try and not die once by using all your resources (smoke grenades, frag grenades, phosphorous grenades, mines, etc.) because this makes the game even more fun. Grenades, machine guns, rocket launchers, snipers; only a few of the items in the game. I recommend this game if you like tactical shooting games or if you want to try a new game genre.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great to REPLAY!
Conflict DS 2 was my first experience with the Conflict games. I hadn't played the previous version and the only thing I'd played that was similar was the original Socom. I have an addiction to video games it seems because after I got used to how this game worked I was hooked.
I enjoyed being able to set each man up for a different purpose and planning strategy on the best way to fight the enemy.
As others have mentioned this game was short. I think after I got the hang of it I played it in a couple of hours maybe less, I can't remember exactly how long.
I love this game though it's on my REPLAY list! The easy mode is perfect for people like me who need to get the hang of a game before going all out on it. I like a game that allows you to play an easy version before heading into hard warfare. Even on easy mode you have to have good strategy to play well.

LOVE The game and look forward to a sequel!

When I got this game I had a blast with it i've played it every day for at least 2 hours. There are some tricky passagee ways and doors so i likie 2 player coppertive campagian where i get to play with one of my buddies as we fight the bad guys. All my friends want to come over and beat the game it is so much fun. My favorite player is Bradley. IT is a great interaction game because you can associate with other people and open gates and turn off alarms. Watch out for tanks as the come rolling by. THere are radios that the squad communicates with along with other squads around the battle field. It brings back what it was like in Desert Storm.

this was a great game i was wanting a war game and got this. I've loved it ever since and play it every day. My favorite player is Bradley.

5-0 out of 5 stars GO LOUD!!!
My brother and I LOVED the 1st game, and are floored by the exceptional play of this one. The street to street fighting, higher enemy AI, and new weapons make this game a must buy. The levels are much bigger in CDS II, there are more rooms to clear, and weapons are more spread out. There's no better feeling than hearing an explosion behind you and knowing enemy soldiers just got smoked by the claymore you left behind.

The only disapointment was the ending, kind of anticlimactic.

I hope they keep coming out with these games. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Round 2... FIGHT !
At the time I purchased my Playstation, it was Soul Blade that pushed it over the N64(which almost had me with the Pod Racer game). When Soul Calibur came out for the Dreamcast I heard very good things. And when it was announced that SC2 would be available across multiple platforms, I was psyched. However, not being one to fork over full price for a title, I waited for the inevitable price drop.

The game is awesome. Truly worthy of its lineage. The fighting has improved, as have the graphics and sound. The major downside (for me) is the PS2 'exclusive character'. While Xbox has Spawn and the Cube has Link, we get geriatric Heihachi. Not being much of a Tekken fan, I wasn't thrilled. At least everyone gets the new McFarlane character, Necrid. Being a "Rock" fan from the original outing on Playstation, I do like the larger, more powerful characters.

The arcade mode is great. Going head to head is also quite a lot of fun. And the Edge Master mode really adds a lot of depth. Now there are those who prefer the latest Virtua Fighter or Tekken games. But for me the king of the fighter's remains this tasty morsel from Namco. And at the reduced price, "the stage of history" has never been more accessible.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is the review that you been looking for!!!! READ IT!!!!
This game is awesome, I think is the best sword fighting game since it's prequel Soulblade, compare this game with Way of the samurai, Kengo and Bushido Blade then you will see why Soul Excalibur is the best swordfighting game.

Here are the good things and bad things:

. This HARDCORE game could bring a new generation to the serie, for example: Final Fantasy vr. Soul Excalibur (ONLY FOR PLAYSTATION 2 HA,HA,HA!!!!!!)
. Awesome graphics (at least better than Soulblade).
. Filled with tons of extras including RPG, battle watch and KATAS (Weapon demonstration).
. The new Necrid character is very cool (only with the mask).
. Optional English and Japanese voices.
. Sorround sound.
. AWESOME music.
. Tons of optional new weapons for each character.
. Cool intro.
. Many alternative costumes for each character.
. The game have a NAMCO DEMO disc of many new games.

. Heihachi as extra character for the Playstation 2 is not a good idea (they could put Kazuya, Pac-man, Ryu Hayabusa or MAYBE Sephiroth or Cloud from Final Fantasy.)
. The weapon mode is kind of annoying when you loose.
. You have to read a lot to understand the story and reading suck's (at least for me).

That all Folks.
Sayonara, Adios, Goodbye.

This is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This game is da best. Graphics and all. Any one who played this game would love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is Awesome

5-0 out of 5 stars Take over Ancient China.
Some people play Halo. Some people play Counter-Strike. If you're a strategy fan, you're now playing Romance of the 3 Kingdoms 8. Released on August 12, 2003, Koei added a new title to their longest-running series. If you're familiar with, and enjoyed, previous titles in the Ro3K series, 8 is a perfect choice for you. If you're into games with fast paced action, walk right by. Fans of PC-style strategy games like Civilization and Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri will be right at home with Ro3K8.

The game is very, very deep with tons of replay value. If you're an armchair general, get this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars ROTK8 - Constantly Getting Better and Better
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 is an excellent game. Like ROTK7, you can play any character in the game rather than just the ruler. The game follows the magic of the book, which heros that have herculean strength and some even have magical abilities. Significant characters from the previous games have had their abilities changed to better reflect the book which the game is based. For example, Cao Cao have great Charm, Political wisdom and intelligence, but him war experience is somewhat average, reflecting the fact that he was more of a strategist than a front line soldier.
I only had a few problems with the game. Titles, which officers could be given as the ruler's rank increased in ROTK7 have been removed. I liked being able to give my officers different titles. Also, I think there should be more intrigue in the game. Hardly any officers rebel against their rulers and start their own kingdom, only happening when the ruler dies and even that is rare.
Overall, this game is excellent and well worth the time of playing it. If you like Koei style strategy games, you will love this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Top of the world, Ma !!
This version of RTK is the best by far in my opinion. To do away with all the melodrama of other critics...this is one is the most versatile of all the series. The "growing pains" of your created character are directly impacted within the RTK world you play in. Lets be for real, what are the chances of a 90 rated free officer offering his services to a new jack?

The concept of getting to know an free officer and building relations was great. The battle scenarios and help/ tutilage through the different characters is another plus. Lastly, the concept of 'observing' first to increase productivity is even greater.

This is the collectors edition for the RTKer who wants to experience true and thorough gameplay.

5-0 out of 5 stars Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII
This game could be the best strategy game I have ever played. There is a lot of in-depth political strategies that only get more complicated the higher up the food chain your characters get. I'm guessing that if you looked this game up that you know at least a bit about the series, and that this is the best of the series, though I am yet to play Romance 9. I highly suggest picking it up if you get the chance, and if you really, REALLY like political strategy games.

The Best Koei Game Ever!!!
The reaon I like this game is because, you get to wander, enlist, revolt,or unify China!!!When I first got a look at the game,I couldn't take my eyes off of it.You could choose to be a commander,a prefect,a warlord,or you could follow your dreams.I'm saving up my money to buy the game.I can't wait until Christmas than I can play all day long!!!! And like the game says,"Brave souls,Came forth"! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Game EVER!!
Now I have not Played Gallop Racer 2003. But Let me tell you this is an AMAZING GAME right here! I have had so much fun playing it. I have played it for hours on end. Really good graphics, The controls are not too complex. There are just many things as a jockey that you can do to effect your mount. This is a game for people who love horse racing. You do interact with your mounts in the race, you can help suggest races for your regular rides if you are able to be good enough to have a trainer ask you to be a regular rider. It is very realistic. Easy is not too easy and hard...well that says enough! It's HARD! The game is not over after you become a Grade 1 Jockey. It will keep going year after year if you want it too! It is an amazing game! If you like Horse Racing you will LOVE this game. It is funny how some horses are named very closely to real ones. Cat Thief in the game is Catch Thief. lol There are alot more. Very funny really. See if you can catch some more! Lemon Drop Kid = Lemon Syrup Kid haha. They say none of them match but it sure seems like they are close. Even the silks are close. Silver Charm = Silver Calm, he has similar green and yellow striped silks! lol Any way GREAT GAME! I will definately get G1 Jockey 4!!

As Real As You Can Get
I have recently bought both G1 Jockey 2003 and Gallop Racer 2003, and have found that I like the G1 Jockey 2003 much better than Gallop Racer. I am an avid horse racing fan, and even though Gallop Racer is a good game, this is the better game for people who watch more than just the Kentucky Derby every year. It takes the reality of how trainers interact with the jockies, and allows you to do workouts to get to know the horses.

Comparisions to Gallop Racer:
* Graphics are more realistic, and backgrounds won't make you dizzy (I've had problems with the GR Backgrounds)
* You ride more than the six horses, and work with numerous trainers.
* Access to 4000 horses, with oppertunities to ride any of them
* You are acctually treated like a jockey, and experience what they go through when they win/lose

And for those who do own Gallop Racer and get frustrated with the Easy mode not being so easy, the Easy mode in the game is really easy and I can't wait to try the others.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Worth the Money...
This game is fairly realistic in most aspects, but focouses way to much on being a good jockey. They make it so no matter how bad of a horse you have, if you ride it the right way you win. It was hard to get used to the first few races but by the 5th race I was winning every race, no matter how bad the horse was. It was really lame. I was only half way through the year and was the #1 jockey and had over $1,000,000 in earnings, which was almost double than the person in second. All in all, very unrealistic. Another thing which I didn't like was the fact that you couldn't own and breed your own horses, thats the funnest part! I was very addicted to Gallop Racer for that very reason, I worked for months breeding and training my horses to make the best horse in the game, it was very enjoyable. G1 Jockey 3 has some nice graphics and is fairly realistic in most aspects, but not in the racing part (which is the most important in my opinion). Hope this helps!

g1 jockey 3
this games the bomb !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars good horse racing game
the best u.s. horse racing simulation, in terms of the racing experience and realism. but it must be behind gallop racer 2003 from an overall standpoint because you can breed horses in gallop racer 2003 (which unfortunately is not a part of g1 jockey3). ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A formidable update to ID Software's Wolfenstein 3D
Upon first playing Return To Castle Wolfenstein, I expected a fantastical shooter full of Quake/Doom-like enemys with the swastika insignia all over them. That would have been OK, but this time around ID has taken a more realistic approach. For most of the game, you'll feel like you're playing Medal Of Honor. There are still fictional elements present, like zombies, mutants, and Nazi cyborgs...but it's kept to a reasonable level. The controls are about the same as most first person shooters as of recently, and the graphics can hold their own with the competition (despite the occasional slow-down during heavy fire-fights). The textures in the walls and ground all look appropriate, and the level designs are well crafted (some areas are based on actual towns in Germany). As with most games ID puts out though, the story falls short toward the end. The first few cut-scenes set the stage for a dramatic story, but the ending boss battle and epilogue feel unclimactic. Another disappointment is the absence of a multiplayer'll have to the get the X-Box version for that. Overall, Wolfenstein is a pretty decent buy if you like first person shooters. As far as multiplayer modes and customization go though, I have to recommend Timesplitters 2 or Halo instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars A solid FSP with great guns and challenging enemys!
First off I'll say that I've never played the original Wolfenstein game but I'm a huge fan of FPS. I wasn't to hyped about this game at first but once I played it, I wondered why I had waited so long. Operation Resurection is so good that I just can't stop playing. The guns (especially the Venom) rock. The levels are diverse and detailed. The enemies are very tough, even on the easiest mode. I grew up on shooters like GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, and Medal of Honor and believe me Operation Resurection holds it's own against even the classics. I like a lot of different kinds of games and am kind of a critic when it comes to replay value. The only way completed levels can be played again is by starting a new file. I wish I could go back to some of the fun ones but I can't figure out an easy enough way. If anyone can help, Please post a review to me. I really like and also own Medal of Honor Frontline, Medal of Honor Rising Sun, XIII, and Ghost Recon so Operation Resurection was a nice addition to my bullet loaded collection. This game features all the finer points of an FSP, big guns, zombies, nazis, good graphics, nice and finely cut cinematics. By this game, especially now with it's recent discount.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Sequel Great Game!!!
This game is lots of fun. I got what I expected. A sequel to the old Wolfenstein 3D game. There's lots of guys to shoot and later on in the game there's some monsters. The weapons are cool and not too futuristic except for the lightning gun. All in all its a good game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dark visuals and boring
I just finished this game and was not happy. The visuals are way too dark, even on the brightest options settings it was hard to see. What a disappointment. My biggest problem was with the very linear plot, one way through each level, walk in and shoot. No strategy at all. My latest test of a good game: Walk up to a fuel tanker truck, place a ton of explosives on the side and detonate. If the truck doesn't move and there is not a scratch on it when you're finished, then you have a crappy game on your hands. Wolfenstein failed miserably.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible WW II based game
I originally chose not to pick up this game because I figured it was more horror/scifi based than shooter. I was absolutely wrong. This game is great if you like shooter type games especially the Medal of Honor series.
Your mission is to infultrate Castle Wolfenstein and stop the Nazis from unleashing their paranormal plans and win WW II.
Graphically the game is very good, not awesome, but pretty good.
The best part of the game is that counting each part of every mission, there are approximately 39 missions to do. Most missions are just straight shooter with objectives to accomplish, and secrets that you're able to discover in order to get points to upgrade your amount of health or ammunition at the end of each mission. A few of the missions however, you must complete in as much silence and stealth as possible. So, fans of games like Splinter Cell will also find things they like about this game.
The weapons you're given range from real life machine guns, shotguns, flamethrowers and handguns to fictional weapons. The AI is decently intelligent, they don't just stand there and let you kill them if they see you or you miss while trying to take them out from behind.
The controls are also great. They're like most shooter games like SOCOM II and are easy to learn and remember. The only drawback to the controls is that there's no option to go prone to avoid getting shot at and you can't jump and hang on a ledge or do things like rappel.
The blood and gore are very realistic, so as its raiting would suggest, this isn't for little kids or the squemish.
One other drawback to this game is the fact that it's linear. There's only one way to go in order to complete a mission, you can't simply go around enemies, you have to get past them.
Overall, this game is a lot of fun if you like shooting up Nazis and like some science fiction. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Is Spyro's PS2 launch really worth it?
This game disappointed me in many ways. For example it takes AGES to load (about 5 minutes) and the graphics are not as brilliant as expected. There are also a few glitches, such as in the speedways, you remain 3rd unless you fly through all the blue speed-boost stars. On rare occasions the level 'Cloud 9' doesn't even load!.
The good bits are the new breathe abilities. Spyro can now freeze and electrocute opponents as well as the traditional flame attack and catch the dragonflys with bubble breath. The levels are also quite imaginative as well and the slide mini-games are fun.
The puzzles are very challenging and as a 16 year old , I found them very hard. Imagine the disappointment in a young child?
All in all I recomend you try before you buy! this game is not what i expected! julesy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Poorly Made
This game is a waste of time and lacks a good story line and has very little adventure. Spyro used to be a cute, funny, and feisty dragon. Now, he is a plump, lazy, slow, and lacks creative energy. This game has huge glitches such as: slow loading, swimming in air, poor camera angels, Spyro trying to climb walls without ladders. YOu would at least think there would be more levels (or portals) than just the 9 that are there. The characters are not exciting or well drawn; they look creepy and lack humor. This game is boring, and the first three games were 1000 times better. To be honest, I think Nintendo 64 games have better graphics and better story lines. many of the scenes will freeze in the middle of play. This is very frustrating to the player. The music is very child like and does not fit with Spyro. Bringing Ripto back shows the producers are not expanding the games imagination. This game is very expensive to buy, but honestly, not even worth the money it costs to RENT it. The 3rd game I bought for $15, and it is much more exciting. A buyer would hope that the 4th game would be higher in technology. I love Spyro and I am a big fan. But, seriously, this game is practically the worst game I have ever played. The producers should not have been so eager to get the next game out, simply to make money. They should have waited until they had created a game that would have been better than the previous 3.

3-0 out of 5 stars I love Spyro! But the last two were better.
I'll keep this simple. Nothing really new, but why change a great game? I loved all the Spyro games especially the last two and I hope another one comes out someday! PLEASE?
However, I could not complete the game 100% (all the dragonflies) to beat the final boss and it irritated me. It was the level where you have the time limit to kill all the bees...I just can't do it and there are no cheats(for the desperate)so I would rate the last two games as better.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok if it's cheap
i bought this game for $50.00. i don't think it's even worth $30! only buy this game if it's cheap. i loved the first three spyro games, but this one's just not as good.

4-0 out of 5 stars I did not know there was another Spyro game.
I have beaten the first three Spyro games. So far the third one is better than the second one. The second one is better than the first one. I don`t know about the fourth one. I`ll tell you later about the game. All I can say is that I was thinking at first it had 5 worlds because in 2 and 3, the game had a certain number of worlds that was one more than the version of the game. So that means Spyro 2: Ripto`s Rage had three worlds: Summer Forest, Autumn Plains, and Winter Tundra, while Spyro: Year of the Dragon (it was made in 2000, which is the year of the dragon)
had four worlds, Sunrise Spring, Midday Gardens, Evening Lake, and Midnight Mountain. I do not know the exact amount of worlds in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, but I`ll come back to that one.
For know, I could be thinking this is 4 stars. ... Read more

Soviets go bye bye
Freedom Fighters was better then I hoped. My 9 year old brother goes and buys FF,I didn't know if that was a good idea.Man I'm happy now. Here's the story:

In a alternate world where the "Soviets" ended WW2,the soviets have grown very powerful. They have defeated most(or all)of Europe, took over Mexico, and are circling around America. Its Summer of 2003 and Plumbers Chris and Troy Stone get a call from a girl named Isabella to come fix her sink. When they get their, nobodys home..."Bang",Soviets invade the room, take Troy, and invade the city.As Chris you must take back the city and defeat the Soviets.

Not too bad.
Very good sound effects and music sounds nice.
The Soviets take cover and fire but they are not too smart.
The gameplay is awesome. You can go the sewers anytime and do different things. You can choose their where to go and what guns you want.

A very good game.

With 10 levels,Alot of characters,and a Armory of guns,this game is a must.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best game you've never heard of
I happened to read a review of this game on and they raved about it. I picked it up used for about $13. What a freaking steal!!! This is a great game, although you never hear it mentioned. I was addicted from day one and stayed up 'til 3 a.m. every night until I beat it. On the 3rd highest difficulty setting, some missions are REALLY hard, especially if you don't do things in the right order (i.e., taking out the attack choppers on another part of the map - little hint there). The challenge is definitely there, and the story is cool too. Trust me, the first mission of the last 'map' will have you throwing the controller around some, but you'll come back because you'll think "Maybe if I do this..." and eventually figure out how to get through the level. If you like games like Medal of Honor, Max Payne, etc (although this game is 3rd person), go out and buy this TODAY!

Two things I didn't like - the graphics are only so-so, especially for the XBOX. There's no blood (but the 'deaths' look real enough, especially when you blow up a truck and someone's standing next to it...COOL!) And, although there are options to 'quick save' at the sewers, sometimes these are few and far between (and non-existent on the last map) and you end up repeating certain lengthy sections over and over. Although, that just adds to the satisfaction when you finally beat it! There should be nothing, however, that is stopping you from finding and buying this game TODAY!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Freedom Fighters
Fredoom Fighters is a pretty fine game if you want to see the game first with cheats.Such as invisibility.two player mode is great because you can just keep beating each other up until you try to care about the stupid flag...Well the reason why I said that is because you lose time to play multiplayer. Here are my ratings
Music:5{because I just like hearing those notes in a game}
Graphics:3{because its not realistic}
Overall:4{because its so short.It took me just a few days because I rented it!}

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!
I played this game for the first time a few weeks ago, and I played the same level for hours(I kept dying) and still came back for more from those dang ruskies. The AI is very advanced even for an EASY level. The game has a very believable storyline and an interesting set of characters. This is definetly movie material. The cast:
Chris Stone- Paul Walker. Isabella Angelina- Angelina Jolie. Phil Bagzton- Jake Gylenhall.Troy Stone- Kevin Dunn Mr. Jones- Max Von Sydow. Tatiana Kepinski- Radha Mitchell. General Tatarin- Jean Reno.
Sounds like a Roland Emmerich movie to me. Anyway, back to the game. It is hard even if you set it on easy. Move it up to medium? Forget it! THis game is awesome, don't miss out!

4-0 out of 5 stars A pretty good game
Freedom Fighters has a reasonably strong storyline, and rather addictive gameplay. It wasn't an extremely difficult game, only taking me a few days (for those of you who have read other reviews by me, you know I'm a war junky), but some missions took several attempts. I think its difficulty is one of its greatest attributes, because it does have a few downfalls. There's very little weapons selection (the only American firearm available is a revolver, most likely a .357 Magnum, and all other guns are carried by the Soviets). The graphics are generally good, although the game has more of an animated sense, rather than realistic. Speaking of realism, some of the combat is really hindered. For instance, you'd think if you had a clear shot on an enemy's head (meaning he wasn't wearing a helmet or anything), he'd be dead after the first shot. But, with some of the more difficult opposers, specifically the fat red-heads with the SPAS-12 shotguns, they won't be killed first shot because of their thick body-armor suits, which reveal their head entirely. I think that's pretty uncool, not only because those guys are hard and it would be nice to kill them quickly, but because I highly appreciate realism. And there is one kind of outrageously difficult soldier to beat: Machinegunners in full steel bodysuits. They have very powerful weapons, and they're SOOO hard to take down. I've learned it's easiest just to hit them repeatedly with Molotovs until they die. Otherwise, it takes a whole lot of bullets.
Multi-player is okay. I mean, it can be very fun, for long periods of time. But, there's only one mode, and only three places to play. The maps are small, you can only be one person (either the American, or the Soviet), and the people you recruit all carry the same weapon, a Kalashnikov AK of some sort, probably an AK-74. Yeah, I said 74, for all you THINK-you-know-it-alls. Recruiting is easy: There are four bunkers in every map. All you have to do is run into an unmanned bunker to take it over. Then your people spawn there, unless you have too many people at other places around the map. Then you go up to them and recruit a maximum of eight, and you can order them around. In single-player, it's the same concept, except you have to work your way up to be able to recruit more people, and you have to find them in the missions. Anyhow, back to multi-player, it is still fun. The main objective isn't to kill the other person (even though it is really exciting), because you keep coming back to life. The objective is to take the flag at the center of each map, and hold it for the time limit. I can explain further, but you'll understand once you play. Multi-player is extremely addictive, because it's fun to just kill as many people as possible, and take over all the bases. Even when you have no bunkers, it's fun in a sick way to try and capture some (I suggest using grenades and Molotovs to blow or burn the enemies out of the bunker, then move in).
In general, Freedom Fighters is a good game. It's got good replayability. It can last a while, because you do have to develop extensive strategy for many of the missions, and some missions affect others. Ultimately, I think this is a good game to purchase. Fun in two-player, and fun in single-player. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tiger Woods- BIG HIT
I have been a big fan of the recent "Tiger Woods" golf series for Playstation 2. The newest installment to that series, "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004" is an awesome game. I own the 2002 version and have played the 2003 version, but the newest version blows both of them away.
For starters, Gary McCord (current PGA announcer and former player) has signed on to do the commentary. BIG step up from the voices from the previous versions that tended to get very repetitive. David Faheretty is back to do the play-by-play analysis. He does good work.
A ton of new courses have been added, both real and created. Pinehurst #2 is probably the most notable, along w/ the famous public course Bethpage Black.
Along with the new new courses, new players have been added. John Daly makes his appearance, as well as Retief Goosen and others.
Career mode is a new feature, allowing a player to play through a 10 year career. It's a nice feature, better than the previous tournament mode. There are no more 18 hole tournaments for a couple grand to the winner.
The match play mode has been improved, sending you all over the world map playing in various "regions." Defeating a player at each level of each region is the goal.
Overall, INCREDIBLE new game, a must buy without a doubt for any Tiger Woods series fan AS WELL AS anyone that thinks they might enjoy a "golf" game. Best game of the series by far. Get it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you EA!!!
If you have ever enjoyed anything to do with golf then get this game now! This is by far the best golf game I have ever played. I played Tiger Woods 2002 ALOT! About 8 hours a day for about 4 months. I loved it but it wasn't without its issues. I rented Tiger Woods 2003 and it was fun but it seemed like a typical update. A couple new courses etc... But 2004 took me by surprise. There's just SO MUCH added to this game. Lots of courses to play, Tons of goodies to unlock, graphics are great, gameplay is great. Plus there's online play and it supports voice if you have a USB microphone. There's also new tournaments daily online. You can actually play through an entire PGA season too and earn sponserships from Nike, adidas, Taylor made, etc... This game is great. The customization of your characters is amazing too. You can create your own golfer and they went overboard on this ability. You can create a golfer that looks at least 90% like you. Sometimes 100%. Depending on how you look. In addition there are all kinds of accessaries to buy. Balls, gloves, hats, watches, glasses, lucky tees, shoes, clubs, shafts, grips, etc... These items add modifiers to your abilities and with so many available you'll be playing for days to unlock them all. There are also real time events to unlock special equip. These events only occur on specific days and it works with your PS2's internal clock. I already played the halloween event and got a shirt to wear that celebrates the season. If you haven't stopped reading and ran out to get this game then GO NOW!!! While there are still copies left on the shelves!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best game ever!
This game is a lot of fun to play, but it does take a little time to figure out the maneuvers. There are scenarios to practice skills to make your player very skilled. Also you can make your character look pretty close to your own image. It is challenging and very addictive. Fun for both males and females.

Hall of Fame Game
Tiger Woods Pga Tour 2004 is the one of the best sports games ever made. It has tons of game modes that are all 100% fun, while also challenging the gamer. At first Tiger woods PGA Tour 2004 is hard to get used to, but after a few rounds of 18 you will be having so much fun you can't stop. The rewards you can earn are unbelievable. EA Sports definetly shot a hole in one with this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Difficult to control, no real improvements
Being a huge fan of XSN Golf for Xbox, I decided to try Tiger Woods' game because of all the rave reviews I've heard. I was so disappointed. The controls are rather difficult and hard to master. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 is not that much different from last year's Tiger. The analog swing is unchanged, letting you control the power and direction of your shot with a back-and-forward motion on the analog stick.
One of the big new additions to Tiger Woods 2004 is the "game face" feature that allows you to create your own pro golfer with a rather painstaking level of detail. This player creation mode lets you define virtually every aspect of your player's appearance. For some idea as to how extensive it is, there are 18 different attributes that can be modified in terms of facial structure alone, not including facial hair, eye color, skin tone, and what your golfer's teeth might look like. Truly, the level of character customization offered by the game face feature is unparalleled.

The only nagging issue with the Tiger Woods games that EA has yet to address seriously is the game's soundtrack. For the past two years, EA has been assembling seemingly random collections of contemporary licensed songs and calling them soundtracks. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Stealth wins out over brute force
Splinter Cell is one of the greatest PS2 games out on the market.

Why you ask?

Splinter Cell is unique in the game market since instead of using brute force i.e.; gunning everything in sight, the player has to use stealth and evasive techniques to avoid the baddies when trying to complete missions.
The player controls Sam Fisher, an agent for the NSA. Armed with a varying array of weapons, lock picks, fiber optic spy cams...etc, Sam is sent on a number of missions which require you to navigate Sam into the shadows and avoid detection while trying to attain objectives.

Players will have a good list of actions available to get Sam to his destination undetected. The game controller is setup with the left analog joystick used to move Same while the right allows the user to pan the camera. I found this to be very useful in allowing me to look around corners without putting Sam into view.
Left and right d-pad buttons allow for Sam to use the night vision /thermal goggles he carries. Very helpful to see in the dark, which you'll hopefully be most of the time. The lighting in this game is very life like, so I've found it helpful to use the night vision in rooms that are in full light to help flesh out objects I might have missed when searching a room.
O button allows for Sam to crouch down. Since the object of the game is to try to complete these missions undetected, crouching offers a number of different advantages. Aside from the obvious, hiding out of sight, crouching while jumping down from a high place, softens the impact, thus making less noise.
Triangle button is useful for jumping. In Splinter Cell you can have Sam jump to and from ledges, off of walls, or go down a zip line. If you're in a narrow corridor, you can even do a split jump and wedge yourself with your legs flayed out. Baddies can walk below you all while being undetected.
X button allow for numerous tasks such as repelling off of a building, opening doors, or grabbing a bad guy to interrogate. I found that when I hid in the shadows and waited for a guard to get close and turn around, I would crouch and sneak up behind him. Hitting the X button allowed me to put him in a head lock and hold a gun to his head. From there you can pump the guy for info, make them do something, like stand for a rental scan, or you can hit the R1 button to just knock them out.
R2 button allows the used of a varying array of weapons at your disposal. Sam has the standard 9mm with silencer, which is helpful in taking out opponents as well as knocking out light bulbs to insure your stealth. Each mission you'll be equipped with different weapons or tools, wether they be a 9mm, or assault rifle, or even a laser microphone. They're all pretty much accessible via R2 button.

The graphics in Splinter Cell are superb. Actually better than other games I've played like Vice City or even Ghost Recon. Shading and lighting as well as color are incredible and very life like in this game. I thought the night vision was easier on the eyes instead of the greenish tinge night vision that Ghost Recon uses, Splinter Cell uses a black and white tinge to the night vision, which I feel allows you to see more clearly into darken area and make out objects better.

Splinter Cell, however, is much more than just a "shoot'em up" game. As I stated above, the game is more stealth and evade. With that in mind solutions to reaching these goals are not apparent. I spent a good deal of time examining the environment that Sam found himself in before acting. Instead of barging through doors, I found it better to use the fiber optic camera that Sam carried to look under doors to see what/ who was here. From there you can develop strategy in how you're going to enter the room undetected, or if your cover is blown how to incapacitate your opponent. You'll definitely find that there is more than one way to tackle a problem in Splinter Cell. The missions may be linear, but the solutions to problem within each mission are not.

Figuring out how to get Sam to act in a stealth manner isn't self evident.
The training mission in the beginning of the game acts as a tutorial to practice your moves before going out into the real world. Here you'll practice all the running, jumping, climbing, hiding and evasion techniques you'll need to be the best covert ops agent there is.

Overall, I put Splinter Cell on my must buy list and must have for any hard core gamer.

1-0 out of 5 stars BORING!!!
This game may have next generation graphics, but the guys arm still goes through the wall. The stealth part is dumb because you can be hiding in pitch dark blackness with your goggles and cell phone alight and a guy right in front of you but he wont notice. you dont shoot anybody and if you do you have to hide the body, i found that really neat, but you never shoot anybody. if you are seen you will die. you will die because the "bad guys" have automatics and you have a dinky little pistol. All-in-all this game is boring

5-0 out of 5 stars Rocking pick for spy and stealth lovers
I am Yakuza! For PS2 , many games are a must by like Spider-Man , Van Helsing , GTA San Andreas and so much more. But in my opinion Splinter Cell by Tom Clancy is a must buy. This is a NUMBUH 1 pick for stealth lovers. You'll love it too my friends because of the functions , the gadgets , the faith , and the life. We as Sam Fisher has been sent to Georgia that the Georgian president Kombayn Nikoladze is up to something fishy. Our team Third Echelon , a part of NSA , consists of three main characters:
These are from TE but not main characters:
And the following will be our villians:
- PHILIP MASSE (not a true one)
And the pros and cons are:
- Cool story and presentation
- Best gadgets like Stcky Camera and Disposable pick
- Night and thermal vision goggles available
- Storyline like a real terrible situation

- Less gunfighting , more stealth
- Some gadgets are not necessary but still they are given
- Sam Fisher is a little aged (49 yrs.)
Well , for my happiness buy this mustbuy game and never forget to buy a new mustbuy game the second version Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow!!!!!!!

Midnight Club II builds on the illegal street racing fun found in the PS2 launch title Midnight Club. Like that game it pits you against street toughs in non-linear street races, all for bragging rights and access to better and more sophisticated rides. New in Midnight Club II are the police and the ability to drive a motorcycle.

The game begins with you in the charge of a slob named Moses. He acts as tutor, teaching you how to control your beater car and how to use power-ups, as well as offering overall moral support. He teaches you how to go about the business of the game: earning new gear such as Nitrous Oxide, new cars, and even new controls. The award of new controls later in the game show how you're a novice driver at the start but by the end you're a pro who can land on all four wheels after a jump, expertly control a power slide turn, and much, much more.

Much of the game consists of cruising around three large and well rendered cities: Paris, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. You don't just challenge someone to a race or sign up for an event and show up. Instead you get a map and have to follow a red dot. The dot is a rival racer. Once you track and chase him down, you flash your high beams and then you can race him. It's a clever way of giving you a warm up, keeping you immersed in the game, and best of all, teaching you the layout of each city.

Racing is fun, fast, and furious. This isn't a simulation, it's an arcade-style racer--but the physics system is internally consistent so it feels more "realistic" than it actually is. Rockstar has put a premium on keeping you in control, keeping the thrill-factor high, and giving you a heart stopping sense of speed. The graphics are fantastic and the cities are incredibly detailed. As a counter-point, the voice acting is just plain awful.

Midnight Club II offers a wide range of game modes ensuring it will be playable for a long time to come: career, mission, and a mode that lets you just jump into a race. Multiplayer is possible in hotseat mode, but it also supports Internet play. Internet lag is bad over dial-up modem (PS2), but broadband players (Xbox Live or PS2) will find the game silky smooth. All of this makes Midnight Club II a great addition to any videogame racing fan's library, but a must for online fans.--Bob Andrews

5-0 out of 5 stars Where victory means you won't have to take the bus home
Very few racing games are able to convey the feeling of speed, while simultaneously balancing game-play to the point that everyone (from expert to novice) can walk away from, all the while shaking their head in gleeful disbelief as to what just transpired in front of them.

Midnight Club II is now part of this elite group of "standout racers," and Rockstar should be proud. Players are treated to a visual extravaganza, as they speed through three highly detailed cities (even if it's hard to notice at 230 MPH), overcoming great odds stacked up against them in the form of street traffic, pedestrians, cops, and fellow racers, each with highly developed AI.

This time around though, the twenty or so unlockable cars are complimented by some two-wheel action in the form of some pretty nimble motorcycles. All the better to "get your speed on." Even car racing enthusiasts will find the difficulty level to be quite challenging at times, and only by taking the top spot will the auto save feature activate to save your progress, as well to enable you to acquire a new ride. This works wonders in terms of replay value, and like the "real thing"... second place isn't tolerated.

This may lead to some frustrating moments of repeating a course several times until your skill becomes greater than those around you (at least that is my experience), but as you become familiar with each city, you will find that the "impossible" may actually be easier than you think with the help of some well placed shortcuts.

The controls are responsive, and the general arrangement (gas, brake, nitrous) feels quite natural. Within minutes, I was taking corners like a pro (well usually, anyway) and was pleased that the developers chose to use a control scheme racing fans are all familiar with already.

The only low point of the game was the soundtrack. While the techno-music was to be expected, the lack of variety (especially when compared to GTA: Vice City) was painfully obvious. Since I am without a network adapter, I was unable to try the online version. Still, most gamers won't miss it one bit, as the offline game is quite good in its own right. For those that have the adapter with online capabilities, I'm sure the game just gets better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just like The Fast and the Furious Movies
I just got this game for my cousin as a present. I was debating with myself whether to get this game or some other ps2 racers. I'm glad I bought this game for him because this game is DA BOMB. This game portrays the underground racing scene perfectly....the 1st level, set in LA, made me feel like I had a souped up import racing around LA at night. And don't listen to the "editorial review", the voice acting is perfect. Absolutely perfect. The other racers (the ones you race) have perfect accents. A lot games' racing characters (again, this is your opposition) have 'ethnic' accents and linguistic mannerisms which are totally spot on (of course they're a little bit stereotypical but its nothing any reasonable video gamer would find offensive; in fact by Rockstar standards its quite mild).

If you liked either of the Fast and Furious movies even slightly or if you like racing games at all then this game is for you. Sure beats spending thousands of dollars on souping up your car, not to mention all the tickets you'd end up getting.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Cool
If it were not for the addition of motorcycles to this second edition this game would be a waste of time. Midnight Club 2 does a pretty good job with the motorcycles as far as handling and what not. Another good game if you like bikes is Speed Kings, not very well known but the things you can do on the bikes in Speed Kings is too much fun, wheelies, stoppies, and numerous others. I'm not sure why this game is still half a bill but whatever...

4-0 out of 5 stars Caution : VERY HARD GAME
no doubt the game is good, its just very hard to play, you must come first in every race you do in order to unlock things. Plus the game's modes and gameplay is exremely dificuilt aswell while you go through checkpoints at top speed turing corners with complete concentration, i recomend this game to ELITE game racers only because this game requires your full concentration in the races, one screw up,bad turn or bump and you lost the entire race.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Fast Game...
this is an awesome game. U do street races in L.A, Paris and Tokyo. There are over 30 vehicles including 3 different motorbikes. Each vehicle has it's own attributes as acceleration, speed and control. U can change their colur so they suit u better. There are several race leaders in each city that wanna take u on. once u have defeated each race leader's races ( there are about 2-3 for each one) they give u a new vehicle. There is multiplayer fun that allows u to cruse around the city and muck around with ur friends, multiplayer racing and games such as Capture the flag and Detonator. MC2 also has the ability to go on-line with the Online Network adapter so u can have mindless hours of fun with strangers (preety cool, ha?) As this game is made by Rockstar (the creators of GTA) it has intense driving game play, controls and invoroments. There are also Nitrous Oxide Boost System that each vehicles has the ability to use, some of them having more than others.. U can also unlock more special features as u go along like In-air controls, Burnout, Slipstream turbu and 2-wheel driving. One not-so-good thing about this game that I think some gamers wont like is its difficulty. The game is really, really difficult to complete but very addictive that will have u coming back for more... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You've got to admit it's getting better
Rating this game is hard, because there are two types of people in this world: Those who hate Armored Core and those who love it. I rated AC3 as a fan of the series. Armored Core's greatness lies in the seemingly limitless combinations of parts and weapons at your disposal. The story, graphics, animation, music, sound effects, and pretty much everything else suffers. Control is solid, but slow to learn and difficult to master.

If spending hours comparing dozens of obscure part statistics sounds boring to you, stay away from AC3. Fans of games like Front Mission and Carnage Heart will probably be pleased. Fans of strategy games in general, like Final Fantasy Tactics and the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, may also be interested.

As I write this (28 June 2003), the AC3 sequel/expansion Silent Line is nearing release in North America. You might want to wait for Silent Line. The AC series evolves slowly; it hasn't changed dramatically from AC2 to AC2: Another Age to AC3.

Right now the limited edition set, which includes the game and a few other things, is cheaper than just the game (from Amazon). You might want to get that if it's still cheaper.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Genre of video games, and warfare all it's own!
Armored Core 3 is the latest and definately the Greatest, of all the Armored Core games to date, and that says a LOT! With LITTERALLY millions of core configurations, an engaging story, fast paced white knuckle action, and the kind of multiplayer excitement that could forge or ruin friendships, Armored Core 3 should be at the top of your list to buy.
In Armored Core 3 you pick up on the familiar story line of a new Raven, a mercinary using giant combat robots to forge justice on an untamed planet. The story line immediately drops you into the middle of conflict, and tries to make you choose sides, but with betrayal and danger awaiting you on every mission, the only side you can be on is your own!
Aside from the 100's of missions, the arena mode is back in a big way with 100's of fierce competitors, and even 2 on 2 matches. Did I mention the ultiamte matches where the game handicaps you two on one!!
Learn the strengths and weaknesses of every part, every configuration, and yourself as a pilot, maximize your potential and charge into battle fighting until you grit your teeth to dust. That's what it's all about. Fanatics only need apply, if your not into it like your life is on the line, then people will eat you alive in multiplayer!
Smooth graphics, crisp sound, realistic controls (only as responsive as the AC you build, don't get frustrated, it's your fault!) and the possiblity for endless play!
Armored Core 3 RULES!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game!!!
It's been a while since I have played the A.C. Games and I saw AC3 and tried it out. I was instantly hooked. I am new to the world of MECH games, but I new this was a great one. I spent a few days trying it out and enjoyed it so much that my mom threatened to ground me if I couldn't tear my mind away from it. The graphics are great and I love the massive arsenal of weapons that exsist and weapons that are yet to come. I reccomened this game to anyone, wheather into MECH games or not, definitly try this one out.

4-0 out of 5 stars She's All-right
The game ain't to bad, yet. I only put in 4-5 hours. The game plays a little slow. I can't under stand why they don't let you use the right analog stick for looking around. The mission are pretty esay in the beginning, but quickly pick up. The learning curve is average. That means "good". I'm still waiting to see some all out, guns a blazen', war. Oh well. The bottom line, a good rental. Indifferent on the purchase. Hope it helps.

4-0 out of 5 stars the best, but not much different
Armored Core is one of my favorite games. how could it not be? you're a big robot and you get to blow things up. one thing that turns some people off to it but some people really appreciate, is the customization. you can customize your mech much more than you can in any game thats anything like it. in other words, this is the best mech-based game. if you own armored core 2, however, this isn't necessarily an automatic must buy. there aren't enough new things in it to make you buy it if you weren't that interested in the others. if you liked the others, this one is better with plenty of new missions, but isn't much different. if you're at all interested in mech-based games, however, i suggest you buy this. now. ... There's no logical reason the Dynasty Warriors series has such a devoted fan base. The makers have mined the same plot for four installments, based on the same few heroic tales of ancient China. The dialogue is as stilted as ever, and no real surprises unfold. But think of the zealotry people have for goofy, unrealistic kung fu flicks, and you'll start to see Dynasty Warriors' lasting appeal.

If you've never touched an earlier version of the game, here's what toknow: Dynasty Warriors is a fighting game series played from the third-person perspective, where you pick a military general as your avatar and fight through across sprawling battlefields. The generals all have distinct personalities, and there are a few women characters included, too. As you campaign, you collect special items--such as the Dragon Amulet, which increases your Musou gauge (Musou allows you to enact special, prolonged attacks on multiple enemies.) You have bodyguards, you kill enemy generals, and along the way your new skill points increase your weapon's power.

With DW4, there are many new additions, only some of which aresuccessful. Charge attacks and items are souped up and truly improved. For example, equipping a magic orb can cause you to freeze enemies in a block of ice. You can edit characters, but with so many good preset ones to choose from, chances are you won't spend a lot of time working on your own. In addition to a better game engine, there's also the option of one-on-one-duels. The maps are immense compared to previous editions, with a lot more variance in what can happen by the end of your mission.

Even with a significant number of new features, it's debatable whetherDynasty Warriors 4 is a true overhaul, or just another release to cash in on the massive popularity of the franchise. Regardless, it's addictive for reasons that almost defy explanation. You just want to clear this act, to get to the next stage, and to reveal the goodies you've received from killing that big boss. It's as simple as that. And at the moment when you can knock down an entire platoon with a couple hits, well, then you'll join the ranks of the dedicated. --Jennifer Buckendorff

5-0 out of 5 stars Good stuff, good stuff...
If your a fan for fast, intense, RPG games, then this is the one. DW4 has new weapon systems, special harnesses, orbs, and items, edit mode, more characters, and new music. You get exp from killing bosses to level up your weapon, there's up to 10 levels for your weapon. Enhanced maps make the settings better, and the music may sound okay, but hopefully it'll grow on you. orbs let you break blocking enemies, set someone on fire, freeze guys, poison people, add extra or instant death damage, and even strike lightning. musous go by kingdoms, and you do certain things to get new kingdoms(example, beat every kingdom to get Zhang Jiao and his Kindom). New combos grow in number of hits as your weapon level grows. New graphics make attacks look more solid and effective(try Ma Chao's 5th combination, a fast blue energy circle around him with a sound similar to a sword taken from a sheath). New Challenge modes add intensity to the game. Try bridge melee, you can't hurt people, but you knock them off the bridge. Pronunciation is still wrong(Chao Chao, not cow cow! As for Yuan Shao, it's ren shaow, not wuan show!) other than that it's great.
Sorry about typos ^.^

4-0 out of 5 stars This game...........
I love this game, its so tight. Everything about the game is top class, the generals are aight and the stages are straight. The things that get me are the bodyguards, if you're training them to be all they can be, why is it that sometimes you have to bodyguard your bodyguards. Mine sometimes die, which is not bad but they still recieve B.G. points and there rank goes up. I can't seem to get any of there stats at max. when this happens. And one more thing, to play 2players, what all do I have to do. I've completed all the musou modes(starting:Shu, Wu, Wei)(then Yellow Turban, Lu Bu, Dong Zhou, Nannan, Yuan Shao), is there more to it.....come on help a brother out!!!
But all in all, man, the game is above the previous releases of the game:(Dynasty Warriors 1, 2, & 3.
............GREAT GAME...........

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
This is by far the best addition to the Dynasty Warriors series to date. Dynasty Warriors 4 has more characters, more levels, enhanced gameplay and graphics, improved artificial intelligence, and in fact, is better than its predecessors in every single way.

Musou mode has been replaced by Kingdom mode, which is basically the same thing, except you can change characters within a kingdom at any time of your choosing. Also, you can play as part of the kingdoms of Yuan Shao, Dong Zhuo, Meng Huo, or Lu Bu.

The weapons system is much better than before. You can build up weapons, and get level five weapons, which are incredibly powerful. There are three new characters, one per each kingdom. Among them is one of my personal favorites, Zhou Tai. There are more levels then ever before, each level is revamped, and due to a new AI system, each stage is slightly different everytime you play it.

The create a warrior (CAW) still needs some work. You are very limited in what you can do, appearance, weapon and movement-wise, and at this point, the CAW really isnt worth your time. There is a nice compendium of information on all the officers, even the nonplayable ones.

Interestling, two characters are missing in Dynasty Warriors 4 from Dynasty Warriors 3. The mythological characters Nu Wa and Fu Xi. While neither, even mythologically, existed in this time period, they were still interesting additions, and we're the only characters to use a rapier and claymore, respectively.

This game is simply fantastic, and is highly addictive. If you are going to by any Dynasty Warriors game, make it this one, because it is by far the best of the series.

One of the Coolest Games That I've Ever Played!!
This is the coolest game that I've ever played because you get to earn people up and highten their stats. You also get to raise their weapon's levels up! With cheats you get to get their tenth weapon! That is the most powerful weapon you can get for a person in this game! The weapons you can get are amazing! With 42 playable characters, the weapons they use range from mases, chinese fans, tonfas, swords, pikes, spears, flutes, chackrams, boomarangs, and bear claws. YOu get alot more weapons too! You get over fifty stages and secret stages on the groups Musou Mode. The levels you earn in Musou Mode are levels that you can play in Free Mode. This game has improved so much since DW3. Thank you Koei! This game is the best ever!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing

2-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre rehash of a much beloved game series
Let's go back a few years. I bought a Playstation _so_I_could_play_ WipeOut XL. That's 360 bucks for one game. Wonderful graphics and tracks, a powerful soundtrack by incredible electronic artists. Still play it, love it, even though it's pre-analog controller and the graphics are early Playstation era. It's one of those games that makes you want to shoot fireballs out of your hands. Jump forward a bit. Wipeout 3. OH MY GOD. BOOM. Aural, god-like soundtrack, blistering speed, BETTER graphics than XL, and an interface design that destroys all that stand in its path. I haven't seen a game since that tops it for overall focus of intent and feeling. It is a work of art.

...So I HAD to get Wipeout Fusion. Atari-era soundtrack of bad techno. No energy in the music.

I think they may have actually de-evolved the game to produce this definite SEQUEL. Puerile ship designs and world treatments. Think cotton candy compared to XL's patinated steel or 3's crisp diamond edge. The prior game producers (original, XL and 3), Psygnosis, must be crying over this butchery. BAM! did an awful job with this game. Turning action is jumpy, there aren't movement cues where there should be, there are exagerated movement and visual cues where there REALLY shouldn't be. Ship and weapon noises take two steps back.

The menu interface is bad, and the visual atmosphere employed both in and out of the race just falls flat. The design of all elements is overly commercial, uninteresting, bland. The introduction of characters into the game is needless and gimmicky, and brings a feeling of GTA3 meatheadedness to what should be a hard, fast, and beautiful sci-fi racing game. I'm going to try playing again tomorrow, with the music off, and with a clear head, and see if I'm still as negatively focused on this game. For now however, I'm pronouncing that from this corner of the WipeOut fan crowd, the consensus of one is unanimous: this game BLOWS.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Perfect, but still a blast!
The 4th episode in the Wipeout Saga, Fusion was originally set as a launch title for the PS2. During its 2 years of delays, other games tried to tap the formula(Extreme G Racing , Kinetica , Star Wars Racers Revenge) to mixed results. Now the game that started it all is back, and Im happy to say , mostly lives up to its reputation.
The first thing is the control. There was nothing better than making that perfect lap in Wipeout Xl or Wipeout 3 , the control of those games was dead on. Fusion has a different feel, ships feel more 'on rails' than previous games, almost making it harder if your used to the physics of the older games. But a little time with it, and I was screaming around the tracks like the old days, and as you progress and the better ships and higher speed modes come, the control is fine.
There are a few graphic problems, which is why I didnt give it perfect marks. There are polygon pop up's , and when the action gets heavy, the framerate slows down, making it difficult to steer. Those problems aside, the graphics are great, crisp track designs, and little touches on weapons are spectacular. Dust kicks up when your off track and on the ground(although its a nod to pod-racing that should have been left out of Wipeout) and the ship designs themselves are high polygon and very cool.
The soundtrack features great tracks by the likes of Orbital, Timo Maas, Luke Slater, Hybrid and more. A much more breakbeat feel this time, but the tracks are fitting and sound great.
All in all, its not perfect, But the best thing out on PS2 of this type. With tons of stuff to unlock, and awesome 2 player weapons, youll be playing this a while. :)

3-0 out of 5 stars The naked truth about Wipeout Fusion
Unfortunately I am one of those Wipeout 'fans' who have played and completed all of the various incarnations. Only very recently did I get my hands on a PS2 and a copy of wipeout fusion. To be honest, I thought it was a bit strange that the game moved forward so much in certain areas but lost so many of the features that define the wipeout experience.

Firstly I would like to say that I find both the graphics and the track design (there are a couple of minor exceptions outlined below) absolutely excellent. The attraction of the Wipeout series for myself and the majority of the fan-base was really the sense of speed, the 'coolness' factor and also the sheer satisfaction of linking up a couple of good corners by mastering the authentic feeling aircraft model. It was these things that kept you playing.

The speed issue is hard to understand. Wipeout fusion is just really slow compared with the upper leagues of the previous games. In addition to a new aircraft model that feels somehow synthetic and not really based on physics (sometime when cornering with the airbrake there is a conspicuous lack of momentum or something) the lack of speed puts an end to that heart-in-the-mouth feeling you got in fast sections in the other games. It is also probably the case that the sudden deceleration from hitting the side of the track in the earlier games was part of the addictiveness and thrill of getting it right and going fast. Additionally, there is no longer that drag sound as you air-brake which reinforces the sense of current speed and momentum and also deceleration - which removes a fraction of your immersion.

The aircraft model no longer lets you take a tight corner from a bad angle, slowly. In XL/ 2097 if you messed up your approach you could still airbrake like mad and avoid colliding with the side of the track - the penalty some speed, but not as significant as hitting the side of the track. Which is the other strange thing, given you cannot make corners at absurd angles anymore, you tend to hit the side of the track very often which doesn't really do much to slow you down. The penalty is shield energy which is not really the most attractive aspect of Fusion.

The weapons are bizarrely over-powerful and now you can race a perfect race and still come last due to luck alone. The most irritating are those that stop the player's craft entirely. The previous games would certainly not have put weapons over speed. The leagues are now a matter of trial and error and you get the impression that skill had a smaller part to play than probability. You are no longer awarded for you ability to fly the craft. A minor gripe is that pitting (which you have to do no matter how good you are) takes too long since you are forced to slow down.

The lack of the coolness factor is a bit inexplicable. The underground techno music of the previous games that lends a dark and industrial feel is gone and replaced with somewhat tacky trance music which is a bit weak. The menu music is optimistic like that of a football game instead of dark and gritty - a cue to get wired. The Designer's Republic did good work on the other games and the Fusion interface seems shallow and sterile by comparison. The 3d character designs look infantile next to the 2d anime-chic of the first game.

The other problem is that the speed/difficulty issue is gone. Leagues are not noticeably faster and even when they actually are, the effect of speed in determining difficulty is masked by the heavy bias of weapons and shields and pitting etc. Other minor issues are annoying 'open' areas that have you lost in a cave unable to see due to over-opaque particle effects. There is also an odd tendency for the aircraft model to change when you are exiting one of the open areas in such a way that you feel pulled toward the exit - or quite often a wall demarking the exit. The problem is, that the faults tend not to feel deliberate since there are clearly undesirable faults such as fairly bad slow-down. Also, I cannot be the first to mention the difference in handling of the craft between regular and widescreen display settings.

The overall impression is that the game has not been tested thoroughly and/or it has paid little notice of the fundamentals that made previous incarnations so great. I still load up the other games for a blast - just single arcade races around one of my favourite tracks - despite the improved graphics and tracks, I have no desire to do so with fusion which is a great pity. Nevertheless I pray that the series will find its feet and continue.

A hugely disappointed wipeout fanatic and software developer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hmmm ... not the best, no, but ...
... there's something about it that has made me dump just about 150 hours of play time into it (according to the clock on my first saved game, and not including others). Fusion is odd because, although it is not the best of the series, and although it feels slightly disjointed and out of place in the franchise, it still affords me an immense amount of fun, as evidenced by the hours I've wracked up. I finished and unlocked everything easily enough, within a couple casual gaming months of purchase, yet I still enjoy turning the game on about once a week - sometimes when I'm waiting for friends, to go out, or just chilling out with a drink and clearing my head. The game is FUN.

Visually, it's not the best looking game on the PS2, nor is is the best designed of the WipeOut series, although it certainly has its moments. A few of the locations seem uninspired, but the majority of them are quite detailed, challenging, and just fun to race through. While the courses themselves may seem twisty and winding to a fault, they are in fact very intuitively designed and compliment the racing experience nicely, once you've gained some mastery of the controls. Tracks are wide in Fusion, much wider than in any previous games. There are narrow areas, but they are reserved for tunnels and cut-aways and such. Course diverge and converge regularly, and many of them have multiple routes at several points. Each location has a short, medium, and long course, and sometimes they overlap, which adds a new dimesnion of difficulty as the racer must reorient himself - but as the shorter ones can sometimes be as deadly as the longer ones, these are not so much tags of difficulty as merely separators.

Weaponry in the game is the biggest change - there are many new weapons and some of them are very, very cool. Teams now have unique super-weapons, gained via "license" through a series of challenges, and these are of course spectacular. Things like the Orbital Laser (a beam of light that comes down in a neat little clip and blows up any one competitor), Seismic Field (I think of it as a small, self-contained black hole that rumbles down the track and causes much mayhem), and Power Swarm (the coolest - little sentry drones that flight out and devastate whoever is nearest) are genuinely thrilling to unleash against competitors.

As you progress through the game, ships can be modified and upgraded - these upgrades represent four speed classes - although it is possible to have a very fast ship in favor of other essentials like shield power or handling. This aspect of the game holds promise but really seems to be rather pointless in this incarnation, as the teams themselves are predisposed to be more or less powerful, already.

The music in Fusion is not as catchy as in previous titles, though there are a few very good tracks here and there, and the sound effects are done in Dolby Pro Logic II surround, which is incredible and more than compensates for the music (in fact I play with the music off and turn on my own collections instead, with just the SFX coming from the game).

It isn't too hard (as a veteran of the series, and of future-racing in general, it afforded me a good amount of difficulty for several days, which I view as a good thing) nor is it too easy, even for an experienced player. One of the key points of all the WipeOut games, of any future-racer, is mastering the controls. Newcomers should be advised that it isn't easy - but that is part of the genre as a whole, not a flaw in the game design. In fact, the physics in Fusion actually make the game much more player-friendly than the previous titles of the series. Computer AI is a blast, too. The other racers will just as often blow themselves up as they will you - it's not 15 to 1 here; it's every pilot for themselves.

Overall, the wide range of customizations available to the ships, and the variety of courses (in seven locations with three parts each, both going forward and in "reverse" - equals to about 42 total racing experiences, plus one other limited location for a total of 45) and weaponry makes for a diverse and surprisingly deep, long lasting and satisfying gaming experience. This game is just what it should be, and no more: fun, easy to pick up and play, fast, and frantic. You need not think too much or otherwise engage your mind. Unfortunately, although it's primed for it, the game lacks a multiplayer capability, which would have truly set it apart, and only offers a two player mode. Now that console multiplayer is more common, we can hope the next game of the series will have it.

why did you do this to us. BAM Enterainment you are horrible at recreating sequels to games. The whole wipeout series is a wonderful anti-gravity racing simulation experience. Wipeout started it all when talking about extreme racing. This game is ok......def not what i expected. I expected the same hard beats in (like wipeout 3's under the influence by the chemical brothers) but instead i get alot of weak music except maybe 5 of them and im a music producer. the graphics are pretty swell in this game the only probs are the glitches, the break control, and the audio as far as sfx. the game has major issues of controlling speed...meaning that when tryin to take a turn the game glitches and sends you flying off track, but this was not an issue in other wipeout games. The sfx in this game were rushed........most of the sounds you can't even hear unless you turn off the music which i don't mind doing anyway cuz the music sucks but they need to improve them. most of the sounds sound a lil low tech for the game more like atari versus wipeout 3 totally blew me the heck away with the amazing sounds, the quality, and the variety of different whereas wipout fusion doesn not have any of the above.
Word of advice if you love the series and don't want to be dissppointed take my advice and RENT this game or wait till the price drops. BAM you are horrible and Psygnosis you are too for letting BAM do this and selling out and i hope you reconsider making another sequel but way better with top of the line music, interfaces, controlls, everything. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars VIRTUAL ON THE MONEY.
it seems that another of sega's franchise has found a new home on sony's playstation 2. some die hard fans might be disapointed with sega putting aside the usual one-on-one fighting stages,,and instead opted for the armored core like missions, but netheless the action is still fast pace, plus you get to play 40 different mechs with strengths, weaknesses etc.

the graphics aren't nothing to really brag about especially compared to to sony's other mech masher armored core 2-3 silent wind. but VO wasn't intended to be some kinda simulation, but a
straight out action game. the supporting characters consist of an optimus prime reject (sgt. hatter) and a trio of spike shaped
virtualoids (the rose sisters..lmao) the control scheme is much better (sans the twin sticks for saturn) which can be customised to your tastes.

all in all VOM is a great game and worth the purchase

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the virtual on we knew back in the day
For all of you fans that have played, and followed the virtual on series... This third installment will leave you going what happened? Remember that quick fighting style where you just pick your VR and go fight those other VRs? Well guess what that isnt here anymore, instead sega decided to replace it with a mission type base of action, granted it is fun pummeling more then one VR into the ground, and they also added an artificial AI to help you on your missions. It seems a tad bit boring after awhile repeating the same thing over and over. IE destroy enemy target(s) Destroy enemy CARGO(S) well you get the point. On a light note you do get graded on these missions based on your performance and other factors. Not to mention you DO get rewarded when you do very well on a mission new mechs new colors "OH JOY" aside from all this virtual on mars is an okay game on its own just dont think of it as old school virtual on or you will be disappointed such as i was. so the actual rating is 3 and a half stars not 3 okay? Reason being cause 2 player action is still there and they added some new 2 player VS options.( had more fun playing VS mode then the actual dramatic mode) For all you die hard virtual on fans pick this game up, and for all of you new to the game take a shot, it aignt armored core, but at LEAST it moves much better! ...
