This toy scores a G-O-A-L!
We bought this toy for our 2 year old son and it has been a huge hit. He had never played soccer before, so I was impressed at how quickly he learned to score a goal. We first set it to the beginner stage and he was able to get the idea very quickly because every time the ball hit the net the sounds were set off. Then he learned to aim for the target and is getting quite good at this. I have to say this is a very educational toy because it teaches that physical exercise can be very fun and the immediate rewards are very reinforcing. My husband and I have had almost as much fun with it as my son! ... Read more

Editorial Review

A reasonable gripe against a great number of sporting good themed toys has been their lack of versatility. Once a kid has surpassed the skill level engendered by the toy, the toy is pretty much useless, offering no further challenge to the burgeoning athlete. The Grow To Pro series, on the other hand, evolves with the kid presenting increasing challenges along the way. In this three level baseball training set, young kids can practice first hitting the ball off of a tee to build fundamental coordination skills. Then on the "rookie" level, the ball pops up from ground level as kids practice smacking the ball out of the air. Finally, the "pro" level is a pitching machine, lobbing the ball without a prohibitive amount of velocity, to the batter standing up to ten feet away.Four D batteries are required but not included. --Charlie Williams ... Great for those just learning how to play!
We just purchased this for our 2.5 year old son who loves baseball. He only manages to hit the ball about 50% of the time but the tee is holding together wonderfully. He can play this by himself, or with Mom or Dad as his outfielders. The bat is very sturdy...much better than I had anticipated. Great toy for the money! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for older children!!
I bought this for my 1 year old nephew for his birthday! I, myself, have a 3 year old and 5 year old. While, my nephew enjoys the music right now and really can't put to use the rest of it, my children loved it! I had to remind them, that the toy was not theirs. We kept it lying flat, didn't use the easle. It occupied them for a long time! They would press the musical note and when the music would stop, it was the other's turn. It taught them the concept of taking turns and sharing. They really enjoyed 'drawing' and squishing the 'paint' around. And, of course, I enjoyed clean-up later, as there was no clean-up. While it's rated for younger children, I feel that it's more appropriate for older children. Of course, I'd cut the age off at 5, as my son is quite intelligent, and although it was something new, he would much rather prefer the real thing. On the other hand, my 3 year old, well, it's more appropriate!

Still A Dud After Almost 2 Years
We got this for my twins shortly after they turned 1. My daughter has never shown much interest in it. My son liked to push the button that made the music play, and would sometimes stand on the blue surface, which would also make the music play. Neither child has really used it much for "fingerpainting," and this toy is really not up to the task. The mushy blue surface just doesn't work that well for drawing. I tried showing my kids how to use the plastic pieces to create shapes on the screen, but it still didn't seem to capture their imagination. The kids are almost 3 now, and still don't play with it. My son long ago lost interest in pressing the music button, and now it's just a big, heavy, unused toy taking up space on the toy shelf.

Also, the stand on the back is flimsy, and after repeatedly falling off, we just took it off, and tried using the toy laying flat. I thought this toy looked really cool when I bought it, alas, the kids just never really got interested in it.

For what its worth, other moms in my twins club seemed to have the same disappointments with their kids.

I see a lot of these being unloaded at yard sales these days.

Waste of money
This toy plays fun calypso music, but that's the only good thing about it. You have to press really hard to "fingerpaint" on the screen, and my toddlers were not able to do it. They played with the shapes that accompanied the toy, but would just ignore the rest of it.

Great musical toy, but what easel?
My daughter received this as a gift when she was approx. 7 months old. She loved it from the get-go. The music entertained her from the beginning and she still dances whenever she hears it. At first she just watched while Momma drew on the colorful screen and made the music, but now at 1 year she can press down hard enough to make color and make music. She also likes to move the bar back and forth to clear my artwork - although it does take considerably more than one pass - but she doesn't mind at all. She even puts her little feet on it and does a little tap-dance to hear her music. Her dad and I love to see her shaking her little behind and bobbing her head to the tropical tunes. Just one question: What easel? Mine didn't come with one. I took it out of the packaging myself and never noticed the cut-out shape until just a few moments ago when I ran to her room to check it out after reading a few reviews. That is a minor point, though. Even if your child doesn't have the strength to make a colorful musical mark yet, she will get plenty of fun out of watching you do it, and she'll learn from you as well.

Couldn't agree more...
I thought this toy would be great for my then 18 month-old. The screen is too difficult to "draw" on with tiny hands and even with the tools. The music is slightly annoying, too. I, too, am selling it at a yard sale. ... Read more

Although not for the very youngest pirates, this 15-inch ship snaps together easily enough, and does so in three different configurations. Features include a deck with working hatches, an anchor that can be pulled out for anchoring at secret islands, and then retracted for a quick getaway, and a mast that collapses when a cannon ball hits the right spot at the base. The spring-loaded triple cannons below deck fire something that looks more like a missile than a cannon ball (but let’s not quibble). The plastic sails are emblazoned with the skull and crossbones, and three ne’er-do-wells are also included. The cap’n even travels the seven seas with a parrot and a pet iguana. Easy wordless instructions are included. --Richard Farr ... Read more

Little guy loves it
So far the little Dude loves it. It has lots of little pieces to lose so of course he'll love it. It comes with inter changeable pieces so it keeps the imagination going. His little girl cousin enjoys to play with him. I wish it did not of the propelling weaponry -- I removed those parts. The ship comes apart easily which is great for more mature kids, and a pain for less mature or mechanically able kids.

Fun for all ages
My son, age 3, first played with his cousin's (9)Pirate Raider and was so enthralled with it that we purcahsed one for his birthday. He plays with it constantly! It does come apart easily, but can quickly be reassembled. Ours needs to be put back together 2-3 times a day as it gets shipwrecked alot. Recently we took it with us on a trip to visit the grandparents and the 11 and 12 year old cousins played with it as much as my son did. They asked, "Why didn't they make these toys when we were little?" This is a great toy for any pirate lover. It has provided my son with hours of imagninative play!

wouldn't buy this ship for kids younger then 6
my son got the pirate ship for a gift and he is 4 years old. he got so frustrated with it because all of the pieces kept folling off. the mast wouldn't stay up for anything! and the nets to the mast would not fit. I don't know what fisherprice is thinking with this toy line but this one was horrible.

Limitless Adventure!
This toy is my favorite in the Imaginext line, because for one it looks really cool, especially when you take out the middle section! It is chock full of details, and all the acessories it comes with are really neat. My only problem is the lack of more pirates, and I'm waiting for the Phantom Pirate ship to come in!

Ahoy Mates!
The Pirate Raider ship is great! My boys are 7 and 9, and it really holds up well when they are playing with it. It snaps together easily, and stays together for the most part. My boys love the canons and other accessories it comes with. We have also bought some of the other Imaginext pirate toys sold separately. My boys really like the Phantom Pirate crews. ... Read more

Now Billy Blazes and Wendy Waters can get to their missions in a sturdy red fire truck! The truck is made to interact with Mission Select Rescue Heroes, but any of the Rescue Heroes can take a ride on this rescue vehicle. Mission Select figures plug into the fire truck and, depending on which disaster your kids have dialed in, they'll talk about the mission with each other. Other cool features include: realistic sounds like; a siren, idling engine, and honking horn; water-launching missiles, and detachable ladders. Made with the impressive durability we've seen with other Rescue Heroes products, the only disappointment was that there is no steering wheel. Requires 3 AA batteries (not included). --Megan Sullivan ... Read more

Fire Truck Rocks!!
My 4 year old son received the truck for his birthday and has not let it out of his sight since. All of the neighborhood kids are coming over to play with it!! He loves the sounds of the truck and the mission control radio. The ladders store easily and snap together well. An extremely durable and fun toy. I plan on getting more Rescue Heroes vehicles and figures for him. I would recommend it for older children as well, my 6 year old is enthralled with it too.

Rescue Hero Fan
My son is a huge Rescue Hero fan. He loved this firetruck until it broke. The top piece that shoots out "water" snapped off. He was really upset but he continues to use the truck without the "water" shooter. I was dissapointed in this toy, but I continue to be a huge Fisher Price fan.

Very Pleased
I agree with other parents who complained about the water missles, ours never worked right either. However, my children have never lost interest with the truck since Christmas. We are new to Rescue Heroes and have become big fans. The truck is great as long as you can see past the missles, we lost them pretty quick anyway! It has stood up to crashes, tosses, and all kinds of rough play! I'd buy it again!

Christams dissappointment
I bought this toy for my 3 yr old son who just loves rescue heroes and fire trucks. I was so excited to give it to him for Christmas and he just loved it1! Until one month of ruff play made the siren stop working and the mission select feature to stop working. On the up side fisher price sent me a voucher to replace the truck. out of all the rescue heroes toys we have though it seems to be the least durable.

Durable toy
My son is 20 months. He recevied this gift from his Godfather for Christmas. He plays with it on a daily basis. The action figures are sold separtly. Which is a downfall. At least one should come with this. It still works even without the figures. It is loud so be prepared! ... Read more

All aboard this big Geotrax train set, which features a black train engine controlled by a joystick-style remote or pushed along by hand. The train winds up a sloping green hill and across a steel bridge. Use the gantry crane to remove crates, move the hydraulic shovel to drop in a batch of coal, or load pipes at the pipe works. The assorted stop, yield, and railroad-crossing signs have lips that snap into place underneath the track, and can be positioned where you'd like. The remote can also slide into the back of the depot building to function as a de facto command center. While it ain't Thomas & Friends, it is a relatively nice product, with rail-track pieces that snap together cleanly and combine into a variety of layouts. Required are six AAA batteries, sold separately. --Andy Boynton ... Read more

A great toy for kids 4 and up!!
I read so many review from parents who bought this toy for kids under 4 years old. The toy clearly states it is for kids 4 and up!!! We bought this for my son for Christmas when he was 3 1/2 years old. He loved it, but had a hard time putting the pieces together. We helped him a lot, but he still really enjoyed it. Now that he is 4, he plays with it all of the time and can easily put the pieces together with a very little, if any, help. We have several of the add-on pieces, as well as the pirate ship and boat rescue set. He plays with them all and uses his imagination to put pieces from the different sets together. We plan on getting more sets/pieces this Christmas. It is a great toy!!! I really rely on other parents reviews on products before I purchase toys, especially the expensive toys, but when parents write bad reviews because they bought a toy that was obviously not intended for a child too young for it, it really bugs me.

Mom of 4 Yr Boy
My son loves this toy. He has had it for 6 months now and plays with it all the time. He loves to role play as the construction workers. I do agree that there are a lot of small pieces so I would not recommend it for a child under 3 (Neither does the manufacturer). We have not had problems with the pieces staying together as long as we play with it on a hard surface. It did not work very well on carpet.

What a mess!
My 2 year old son saw this toy in a catalog at Christmas time. He loves trucks and all kinds of construction equipment, so we thought it would be perfect. What a terrible mess! It will NOT stay together and has way too many small pieces! I just threw all of it in the trash except for the dump truck that came with it. I do NOT recommend!

My son loves this toy.
My son loves this line of toys.He is 5 and very into police , fire and rescue play.He has saved the boxes. He likes to look at the pictures to guide him in his building. He sometimes needs help from Mom!I am very happy with the quality of these sets.

COMES APART EASILY!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
Comes apart too easily for a 3 1/2 year old. Constantly needs adult help to snap together. What a disappointment. It is "going to the farm" very soon! :( ... Read more

Parents who responded to piano lessons by kicking the instrument mayappreciate this toy as much as a baby will. Two ties hang it from the side ofthe crib, five "keys" on the soft cover conceal five buttons, and colored shapesabove each "key" light up when they are hit or kicked. In one mode, the five"keys" play individually, like piano keys; in another, they play a medley of 10tunes; in a third, they sound out animal names, numbers, and other concepts thatare keyed to the pattern on the cover. The Kick 'n' Learn Piano includes anon/off switch, auto off, and high/low volume control. Requires three AAbatteries. --Richard Farr ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Baby's First Piano
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, when she was six months old. She has two music lovers for parents, so we weren't surprised to see that she loved music more than anything else when she was born. It was about time to retire the mobile, and I knew she wouldn't let go of it easily, so I thought maybe this Piano would be the answer. She was totally thrilled with it when she opened the package and got to play with it. She loves to kick every toy she has, and this one was made for it! She loved being able to hit the keys with her feet and make the songs change. Well, it's two months later, and the first thing she does when we put her in the crib, and when she wakes up, is roll over to the piano and push one of the keys to start the music! After that, she will play with it for almost an hour before falling asleep or wanting out of the crib. She doesn't even look at the mobile any more, so I can finally take it off the crib. (It should have been off the crib months ago, but she isn't pulling herself up yet and it hasn't been a problem.)

good toy that has lasted and is still used!
we received this toy at my baby shower. it was one of the few 'electronic' toys that we received because i didn't register for any. i did not put it in my daughter's crib but used it during morning play time on her back and on her belly. she used to giggle at the animal sounds. now she is 10 months old and crawls over to it on the floor and can play the buttons like a piano or still laugh at the animal sounds. this was a great gift that has definitely lasted!

5-0 out of 5 stars 6 yrs & still going strong
I bought this for my son when he was 6 mos old & placed it in his crib. I loved that I could set it so that it would play for 15 mins each time my son kicked it. My son will be 7 in August & he still sleeps with it in his room in his bed up against the wall. He loves the fact that the music plays & the lights light up whenever he touches the keyboard. Not every child is the same but my son loves this toy and after 7 yrs it was well worth the money I spent on it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing
I was eager to expose my son (4 months old) to this toy, especially the piano function. But with it attached to the crib wall, he showed very little interest in the toy; from the lying-down position, he can't see the toy at all and it therefore did not hold his attention. The Kick & Play gym was much more successful for us. Now that he's older (8 months), I have been trying the piano on the floor for tummy time, and he similarly shows no interest. I would not recommend this toy.

5-0 out of 5 stars not interesting to my child
This toy was never a hit with my baby, and even now when she is two she never ever played with it. Sometimes she enjoyed listening to the tunes but you can get that from any other music instrument. The fact that the lights are ABOVE the key boards was confusing to her when she was little and she kept pushing the lights, which of course produced nothing. Also, the elephant sound scared her. I would not buy it. It also started to make funny sounds after a while - not durable. ... Read more

Young kids love trucks and Fisher-Price''s Little People collection so this entertaining set should only fan those flames further. It''s a white truck with red cab and an earnest looking driver sits inside holding a silver coffee mug. Press down on the driver''s head and the truck makes one of three standard truck sounds (horn, engine noise, and a beeping sound like when a truck backs up). Also included in the set are boxes of toys and tomatoes as well as a truck scale and a fence piece with rollers to help unload the cargo. As always, this set is completely compatible with other Little People toys. --Charlie Williams ... Read more

Dumpety is great for kids, but loud for parents
My son loves this toy, however it is loud. But don't let that be a deterant for you. It's really cute. A word of advice though...the boulders are small enough to be put into little one's mouth's and they look a bit like a Dunkin' Donut munchkin. So as a parent who's been there, keep an eye on those boulders!! But overall my son who's going to be 2 has enjoyed this toy since December. And it's the first one out of the toybox!

GET IT CHEAPER
I bought this for half the cost shown here, at Big Lots. Little People, like most Fisher-Price toys, are fun, fun, fun, and extremely durable for the younger players.

The Best!
We bought this as a last minute purchase for my son's first birthday. Because of the price, we just couldn't pass it up. We also bought the cement mixer at the same time. My son just loves them both! He cannot walk into his playroom without playing with the boulders and pushing the trucks. Everything has a "place to be put away", but these trucks sit on the playtable because of how often they are used. It took him about 2 weeks before he could figure out how to put the boulders where they belong, but as soon as he did, he began clapping. He looked so proud, and it was truly a great moment for us as parents to see his accomplishment! Now he is a pro! If you are looking for something cheap and durable, this is a great purchase for a little boy!

heaps of fun and a giggle on the side
I bought this from the hopital gift shop for my four year old son to paly with while confined to bed on an Intravenous drip on a recent stay in hospital. He didn't play with it much and I thought that I had made a bad purchasing decision, even though we have a large selection of the Little People toys at home that he and his two year old baby sister (and even his thirteen year old big sister, but she'd never admit it) play with almost daily.
However, when we got it (and him) home from hospital, the situation changed, and the "BRRRRUM, BRRRUMMM" (the "Dumpety" character that is the truck actually speaks the sound) and backing signal echo around our house what seems like all day. It could be an annoying sound, only it always amuses me to hear the truck SAY "BRUM" instead of hearing a sample of a real truck engine noise. The tipping sound is a bit more disturbing, with the "crash tinkle tinkle" at the end, it has tricked me a couple of times.
I am not overly enamored with the two boulders that come with the truck (and indeed with the other items in the construction set), they are a menace to stand on, and I hate hollow things that can be crushed and/or fill up with water and grow mould. I am also always finding them in odd places around the house, neither of my two little ones seem to believe that they should go with the truck, or indeed in the Little People toybox at all! I think that children are quite resourceful enough to find something to put into the tip-tray to dump out again( mine are anyway! It's currently filled with whole peanuts...), the boulders were an unneccessary addition. ... Read more

CHOKING HAZARD-----keep your eyes on this one!
We bought this to enhance my son's "ramps around garage." My son, a 22-month-old, plays fairly gently with his toys. Last week, as he was playing with this, the yellow "gas" hose that attaches to the toy broke right off. It broke into two separate pieces, one about an inch, the other about 2 inches....definite choking hazards! My son was confused about what happened, so he brought the pieces to me. Luckily, he didn't stick them in his mouth. I contacted the company, and there are not any recalls or replacement parts for this item. I don't think I would recommend this toy, but if you do have it in your home, I would strongly recommend sitting right by your toddler whenever he or she is playing with it! I was only a few feet away, but he still could have tried to swallow the pieces!

Mom of 3 boys
This toy was mainly bought so we could have more vehicles for the big garage, but the last reviewer was right, this toy is pretty junky. I expected more from this toy especially because it is Fisher Price. They love the Little People videos, they watch them over and over again, all day long. The car wash part of this toy is pretty lame overall, but my 7 month old likes to chew on it so at least it gets some use.

very disappointed
we bought this toy for are 3 year old, well very disappointed. The car wash is junk the ramp is hard to move up and down. I can't see how they expect a 3 year old to move it when I have trouble moving it. Will be returning to the store. The only good thing about it is the tow truck and the extra car with hood that opens. ... Read more
