Great for toddlers!
I got this for my son when he was 18 months - he's two now, and he loves it! He plays with it a lot. It seems durable and the noises are not too loud and they don't last that long (only when you push the person down). The boulders are also interchangeable with the ones from his Litte People quarry. I would say that this is a great toy for all little boys who are big into construction vehicles!

Needs an on/off or volume switch
This toy, although cute, can be very annoying because it is really loud and there is no on/off switch like many noisy toys. And not all of the little people can fit into the seat of the truck. All the seats for the little people that I have seen, including this truck, are a really tight fit and that makes it frustrating for children. Not very impressed.

One of my son's favorite toys!
I bought this when my son was one and he still loves it. He's 21 months now and we can't put this toy away. He also loves the school bus and the firetruck (all little people toys) They are very durable and take a lot of abuse. The only downfall is that it is easy to lose the boulders that come out of the cement mixer, but it's not a big deal. Oh, and it makes great noises, but doesn't talk like the other toys. Otherwise it's wonderful!! ... Read more

buy something else!
My husband braved Toys R Us when our son was 4 months old and came home with this. Our son was teething at the time and put everything in his mouth and this was just too hard. At that age, he would also shake and rattle everything he picked up and one of the keys would always knock him in the head. Since this is made of very hard plastic, it would most often produce tears. Although the yellow and red keys were of no interest, he did somewhat enjoy the blue key which has a button which would activate sounds and music. However, my son is now 8 months old and that button has stopped working. He is now developing the "pincer grasp" and I'm hopeful that he may develop some interest for the moving parts of the yellow and red keys. Maybe 3 months is too young and FP should change the age recommendation. I was also disappointed that the ring linking the three keys together opens too easily and I found myself retrieving and putting the four pieces together several times a day. I can honestly say that I spend more time doing so than my son does playing with it. This is why I would suggest buying something else. For a little more money, I would recommend The Lamaze products like the Pupsqueak which is much more "noggin friendly" and much more entertaining. You'll definitely get your money's worth.

Isn't worth it.
I bought one of these and tried it out. Everything was fine except the ring part. If you shake it only a couple of times the ring part pops open, to the point that once, the blue key flew off the ring! If my baby had been playing with it, it might have hit her in the face! I took it back and tried another one, but it did the same thing. It's not safe enough for my child. I was very disappointed because I liked it alot!

ring is useless, but music blue key is great
We received this as a gift right after our daughter was born. The blue music key made changing time a bit easier in the early weeks when she hated being stripted down. The sounds got her attention for a moment. We learned that the 'wheels on the bus' tune was the best. Now at nearly 5 mo, we still play the key everychanging time. And sing wheels on the bus a thousand times a day, while changing her or anytime she becomes upset, restless or bored! We play games with the music key, place it near her feet or hand, show her once where it is, by touching her limb to it to make the sound. She will begin kicking or hitting it to make it go off... she has been doing this for several months already.

The ring the keys are on is too flimsy. We use with out it. She has just begun being able to grasp any of the keys because of the bulky size, but really enjoys trying. I think FP should redesign it, if you tried attaching it to anything, like the diaper bag, it would fall off and get lost.

Our blue key stays on the changing table. We would be lost with out it.

love it
i bought this for my son when he was six months old and he loved it from the get go. he loves being to play with the keys individually or all together. He's definately learned better eye-hand-finger coordination from it. He's 10 months now and still plays with it. In fact, it's a must bring where ever we go.

Terrific for crawling baby
This is a great toy for a baby 8 months and older. It is apparently labeled for younger babies, and although it is safe for them, it is difficult for them to enjoy. If you have a 4 month old, get them a Bumper Jumper instead.

Why should these toy keys be appealing to a baby aged 8 to 14 months? It probably has something to do with the fact that there is just enough challenge in attempting to handle the keys to make it intriguing. Also, there are numberous contours to feel and gum that are interesting to this age baby. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Cheerful Way to model Good Grammar
My baby girl received this toy for her first birthday, and it has become her new favorite. First, there are lots of buttons for Susan to push (including the caterpillar's nose) and happily, it does not take a lot of strength or dexterity on the part of the baby to push the buttons. The buttons light up and flash, and happy songs or complete sentences play at an appropriate noise level. Parents do not have to assist the baby to play with this toy - they can do it all by themselves!

My favorite thing about the caterpillar is that the sentence structure is manipulated by the baby; little "pages" are turned (reinforcing concepts about print!) and the babies can choose and alter the subjects of the sentences to their liking. At 12 months of age, I have seen my little one focus and play with this toy for longer than any other one we own. She likes to drag it along on its "leash", and it ripples up and down as it moves along, just like a real caterpillar.

As an elementary school teacher, I think that little ones need to be exposed to as much correct grammar as possible, early on - through books, conversations, media. There are settings where the child can work with individual word names, all the way up to extended sentences (my favorite!). And here is a toy that will read to her, that she can play with, and that makes her smile and laugh.

5-0 out of 5 stars great line!
My parents bought this toy online for my sons first birthday. We first encountered it on a trip to his doctors office, and even with no batteries (this toy lights up and says words, makes sounds and does sentences) he still fell in love with it and ignored all the other toys there. He still loves it especially how it says thigs like "cat goes MEOW" or "car goes ZOOM ZOOM". My son is at the verbal stage where he's going from the sound 'da' to "dog" so this toy's verbal learning method is a little high for him. Fisher-Price offers 4 toys in this line, but only the cattapiller is offered on Babies-r-us.com.
First Sounds Bee: For babies at my sons level, just learning first sounds and words.
Mouse's Word House: Introducing words that build on early sounds. names things typically found around babies house.
Silly Sentence Caterpillar: First words, Simple sentences and songs when you pull it along behind you. (which I use to get my son to follow me around when I need him too, VERY helpful...)
Travel Around Story Town: which has characters that go around town telling people baby stories.
All have the turn pages and light up.
I wouldn't refund this toy but if I had known about the other toys before we bought this one I would have gladly started on the first level and gone all the way up. I might still buy the bee if I can find it in a store. No matter what age you child is they will love the fun sounds that this toy makes.

Best Bug In Town
This has to be the one toy my 15 month old always goes back to. She has had it for 5 or so months now and still plays with it!!! It is just such a happy, bright, enjoyable toy. There are many buttons for baby to press and pages to turn, if your little one loves to use those little fingers, this is a great toy. The one small glitch with this toy is that it falls over way too easy, but it can be used just as good laying on its side so that is fine for me and my baby!

BABY'S FAVE
My son simply loves this toy!! He use to never want to get down to play with any of his other toys but now he will sit and play with this toy for over an hour. He is only 11 months old and is trying to say the sounds it makes when it tells him the animals and objects :) And I love the fact that it tells him short stories.

Just Imagine him as a Butterfly....
My encounter with Babbles to Books Silly Sentence Caterpillar, though brief, proved to be one of the most delightfully inspiring moments of my life. After I chanced upon it inching carelessly along the sidewalk a few feet from my mailbox, I must admit I was immediately drawn to its playfully flippant demeanor and the bright fire engine-red exoskeleton it was sporting. I asked it if it was heading anywhere in particular, to which it responded nothing whilst clambering along carelessly into my feet. I picked it up and examined its side markings, all of which were rather generic colorful advertisements for various monosyllabic nouns and verbs. The caterpillar seemed to have no problem being held, so I invited it in for a brunch of fern leaves and twigs I offered to gather from my rear porch. Again, it replied with nothing and maintained the same reckless stupor on its face as when we met, so I carried it inside.

After propping Babbles to Books on my kitchen table, I noticed a switch on his throat with four settings reading "O," "1," "2," and "3." My mind afforded me no solid guess of its purpose; I could only assume it was for some form of evolved caterpillar speed control or post-tracheotomal voice box. Incidentally my intrigue led to my turning the switch to "1" (after asking the caterpillar if it minded), causing the caterpillar to somehow emit the words "Frog dog bus carnival up in this" in a deranged Bobcat Goldthwait-esque voice saturated with superfluous voice inflection and pitch change. "Well that was quite silly," I told the caterpillar as the appropriateness of its literally speaking out of its rear (there was a speaker on the back left side of its abdomen) sank in. "Wacky cake for lunch like every day," it responded. I suppressed my laughter and told it to wait right there while I gathered a meal for us both; it popped a wheelie and responded "pronto beans."

I returned with a salad of backyard greens in my hand to find Babbles to Books Silly Sentence Caterpillar upside down wedged between a shoe and a TV Guide muttering things like "done dabbed it in moon sauce," "santa aint real," and what I presumed to be lyrics to Snoop Doggy Dogg's "Gin and Juice." Fascinated, I turned him back over and switched him to "2," to which he immediately responded with a lap around the trash can backwards, staring aimlessly in the vague direction of the yard salad being choked out of my excited fists. "That's just absurd!" I exclaimed. "Woo-wee, got no arms!" it returned in a half-mocking, half-sincere air of equal excitement. The thing that bewildered me most about the caterpillar was the manner in which he carried himself; he would lure you with silly, mindless babble, and then completely own you by leaving you certain he knew what he was talking about. I have no doubt, to this day, that Babbles to Books Silly Sentence Caterpillar's every move and utterance had been carefully calculated to not only entertain me, but teach me new and exciting ways to form sentences and communicate. This sort of premeditated nonsensical off-the-wall spontaneity was all I needed to go forth and be productive in society.

Rejuvenated, I picked up the genius caterpillar, fed him the greens, switched him to 3, and sent him on his way. There I stood on my front porch with my hands on my hips, shaking my head with a smile as Babbles rolled off sideways into a pile of dog poo and a sprinkler hollering "cared for the janky" or something of that nature. Reader, I was reborn, and I recommend with the full fervor of my newfound inner source of energy that you arrange an encounter with this enchanting caterpillar as soon as you can. It would be silly not to. ... Read more

This is Great!
I bought this for my 5 year old son yesterday. He already loves and has many Rescue Hero's. He loves airplanes, thanks to my husbands job. I can not say enough about this plane. I like the fact is different from all the other planes he has. It has 2 clamps that can either hide under the nose or be out on the side. The clamps are easy to pop in and out . The legs store easily also! I like the handle it has to make it easier to pretend you are flying it. It is very durable, just like his other Resue Hero toys. The size of it is nice also. I think it was worth the price. My son has not stopped playing with it since we brought it him. It's another must have! ... Read more

The Rescue Heroes vehicles are made just like the heroes themselves:sturdy, colorful, and chock-full of play possibilities. This bright red dunebuggy sports wide, knobby black tires for gaining ground over any terrain, aspacious driver's seat to accommodate one of the large-footed figures, and astanding platform on back with room for an additional Rescue Hero. But to savepeople in distress, the heroes need special equipment. Good thing a raft issupported on racks along the bottom of this buggy. With a quick push of thebutton on the vehicle's hood, the watercraft is released and ready for action. For divers running low on oxygen, the air tank and launcher should come inhandy. Mount the launcher to either the buggy or the raft and push the button toshoot the air tank (and attached face mask) toward its target. Decals fordecorating the dune buggy are included, but all of the brave rescues andadventures to be experienced are up to the imagination. --Pam Lauer ... Read more

thumbs up!
the dune buggy is the most used rescue hero toy we have. sometimes the heroes ride, sometimes it's just zooming around the house under boy power, but there's something about the dunebuggy that just connects deeply with all the boys we know.

Long live imagination!
My son got this toy when he was 4. He is now almost 7 and still plays with it! It has held up very well to some very rough play. It even looks great after spending some time outside!

I love that with Rescue Heroes my son is playing with action figures and their vehicles that actually help others, not destroy others. In this day in age when violence is seen everywhere, it is nice to have a toy that promotes imagination as well as active adventures in rescuing people.

Add character to your furniture legs
My 4 yr old son and his friends are helping me add a really great distressed look to all the vertical surfaces in my house they can find...and I love it! This car crashes again and again and stays in one piece. (Just don't lose the rescue bouy in the van...it's mayhem until it's found.) They share well after being told that someone has to take turns with the removable raft to rescue the heroes from the torential storm in my blue floral sheet set now laid out across the family room floor. Rescue heroes evoke imagination beyond compare to other toys with just a little prompting from mom and dad. The new mission select toys are nice, but my son and his friends enjoy playing outdoors in the summer with the "non battery" ones because they can go in the kiddie pool I fill with water just so Gil Gripper can find a way to drown and be rescued by Matt Medic. They hang from our arborvitae and swing set. They get lost in sand box avalanches and abducted by our golden retriever. This dune buggy is larger than the other non-battery vehicles like the four wheeler, and helicopter (whose windshield never stays on). Loads of fun, tired out munchkins, happy mom.

Don't buy just one if you have more than one child
I would just like to say that I purchased this toy for my 3yr old nephew for his birthday and it has received a great deal of attention. First leat me say that it was the hit of the party. All the other toys were cast aside as all the children were trying very hard to get their turn with this one.
Once the toy got home, my sister-in-law told me that both boys (the 3yr old and 4yr old) were constantly arguing over who could play with it first.
As an uncle it made me feel wonderful to know that such a toy existed, but when I thought about it further I realized that this was the kind of toy that was so good ... it will take getting one for my other nephew, so that my brother and his wife can get some peace.
I recommend this toy to anyone who wants to hear the squeals of joy and delight from a child they love.
You won't go wrong here ... I've seen it for myself, and I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true.

ps
if you have more than one child and you only get one ... you might want to get some earplugs for yourself ... kidding of course.

Rescue Hero Freak
Okay, my 5 year old son is a complete addict of the Rescue Heros. We have the Fire Truck, Cop car and the dune buggy was just added to the collection. So far the dune buggy has been through the house, over the bed, around the yard and landed in my neighbors pool. Like that pink bunny its still going. I am thinking that this is his favorite vehicle so far.

He usually has Sandy Beach in the drivers seat and this lifeguard has rescued dog toys, dust mites, and various other unmentionables. I highly recomend these two items if you have an active 5 year old like we do. ... Read more

Great toy
I bought this for my 2 year old for Christmas. She still plays with it. It is a little hard for her to change to the next picture, but with practise, she can do it now. I ask her what she is seeing and she gives me the full story. We like it.

Explore a New World of Dora
"Say cheese!" Okay, so my daughter (age 3 yrs 9 mos) is a little confused. She thinks her new Dora View Master is a "camera." But she loves viewing a 3D Dora story on this viewer screen almost as much as she does the TV screen. At first I had to show her how to insert the reel right side up. The yellow handle on the right-hand side is easy for her to shift. Limited by reel size, the stories are brief (seven scenes per reel). It helps if the viewer is already familiar with Dora and the characters. Three or four lines of text accompany each scene. Since my daughter can't read, she makes up her own story to go along with the picture. While the text includes some Spanish words (such as agua, amarillo, and azul), this toy is more entertaining than educational. Two of three stories ask the viewer to identify colors. The view master is made of durable plastic. The reels last as long as they aren't torn or bent (no easy task in a house with a toddler and preschooler). The toy comes with three reels entitled: Rojo The Fire Truck, Dr. Dora, and The Golden Explorers. All stories are based on the earlier TV season (no starcatching!) ... Read more

Like all Imaginext toys from Fisher-Price, the Attack Wagon will suffer a ton of abuse before it shows so much as a crack. The wagon has great attention to detail too, with green holy and black ropes on its sides, thick silver studs on its tires, and a face on its back with black eyes that have red catlike pupils. It also comes with two three-pronged clubs that attach to the sides and a red drill that fastens to the back for attacking castle walls. (The drill doubles as a nose for the face on the back of the cart.) All three twirl when the cart is pushed, and the cart itself can be configured in different ways or even combined with other Imaginext toys for endless variation. The set includes a Troll Warrior with little beady-red eyes and black boots. Articulated at the arms and legs, he can don his bronze-colored armor and grasp both his black plastic sword and his shield. Review Of Art Safari Pixter Rom Pack
This item is GREAT!!!! The cool drawings, races, and, stamps. I reccomed this item alot!!

Fun toy!
My 9-year-old daughter received a Pixter for Christmas and has really enjoyed it. It is well worth the money and we have definitely gotten our money's worth out of it. I highly recommend it. I even have a lot of fun with it. Give it a try!

Good cartridge, not so educational...but fun.
I have almost all the pixter cartridges and this one though it is a good one does not get used as much as the others. It has various activities such as habitat stampers. A set of animal habitat scenes with stampers that make animal noises. Then there are different animal art games that involve drawing and completing animals. The main thing I would point out would be to watch out with this one with younger children. One of the games is a set of slider puzzles that are fairly hard to work with. Little ones would probably get frustrated without mom or dad's help. It is a good cartridge but not one of the best. But if you got an animal lovin' little one this would be great for them.

Editorial Review

Doodle Pro is not as challenging as its predecessor-sketcher, but it's just as intriguing for younger kids, who will ponder the mystery of the sketching surface just the same. Unlike with the trusty Etch-a-Sketch, kids who are just developing spatial and coordination skills don't have to worry about an increasingly complex, unbroken line of metallic dust, and there are no knobs to contend with. That's all too tricky: they just want to draw! To that end, there's a fat, easy-grip stylus with a magnetic tip, and four magnet stampers stored in a pull-out drawer. When the molded forms are pressed on the 10.5 by 7.5-inch doodling surface, shapes are created. And, instead of shaking (again, exertion), there's a sliding eraser for starting over instantly. Because there's no mess, and only a few loose pieces, it's also great for travel. --Diane Beall ... Read more

If your child is building a Loving Family Home collection, this "family room" set will fill at least one of its rooms with classic, if miniature, décor. The set features a wide, comfy-looking sofa with a cushion, a matching side table, a coffee table, a coffee service, and a photo album. The centerpiece of this tiny common area, as in most real homes, is its 5.5-inch high entertainment center. It contains a DVD player, movie library and, on its main shelf, a cleverly made, big-screen TV. Push the button protruding from it and the TV's screen simulates channel-turning, by flipping three separate, themed images--a ballet, a cartoon, and a "celebrity." Its low tech, but seems more realistic because the images are back-lit and accompanied by different music samples. Required: 3, "AAA" batteries.Diane Beall ... Read more

Very realistic, perfect for fostering imagination.
My 3 yr old got this for Christmas to help furnish her Sweet Sounds Dollhouse. The couch and footstool are well made, material hasn't come off at all. The TV is very sturdy, you can either push the screen or the button, both are very secure........trust me this gets a lot of use and it doesn't show it at all.
The tea set interacts not only with the house itself, but the dolls talk about it as well when both are placed in the house at the same time.
The only minor complaint is that the pink scrapbook/photo album comes apart pretty easily........doesn't hurt it, just a pain to always be snapping it back together.

I love the bubble sound
This one makes a bubble sound, parrot squak, meow, and ruff. So cute. It's nice that the animals are not attached, so you can play with them around the dollhouse. It doesn't really fit anywhere though. When my daughter plays, it usually ends up in a separate "room" she has to create on the floor. However, this one is a must for the dollhouse because it is so fun!

Loving Family Pet Set-AWESOME
This was much more then I expected! The dog, cat and bird all come off their "pet bed/cages" so your child can play with them in other places of the playhouse. EVERY pet area makes a noise too which is wonderful.....the fish tank even lights up!
I have been use to buying Mattel(Barbie) items for my six year old, and I bought this and alot of other Fisher Price house accessories for my 2 1/2 year old and their is no comparsion in quality and fun! In fact I find my 6 year old trying to take her little sisters Loving Family dollhouse stuff to put in her Barbie dream house!

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC TOY!
This is sure to make any kid happy. Kids love animals and most want one of these in the set as a pet. What I love about it is each one makes a sound, even the fish tank, when the child touches the top of the animal/cage. Parents will appreciate the fact that the birdcage, fishtank and both beds for the pets are non-removable from the cabinet they sit on or are attached to. Only the kitty and puppy and food dishes are removable. This would make a great gift for little hands and fingers with big hearts of love but not quite mature enough for a live pet (yet.) Parents can use this toy as a "test" to see if their child is ready for a live pet by reminding them to "feed, water and play" with the pets daily and observing. For all these reasons I give it 5 stars all around. ... Read more

Editorial Review

If your child is building a Loving Family Home collection, this "nursery" set will fill at least one of its rooms with classic, if miniature, décor. A large pink crib is decorated with gingham, ribbon trim, and a detailed mobile, which plays a simple lullaby. There's also a hamper, a dresser with working shelves, and an attached changing station. A throw rug, toys, and activity gym complete the room. A blue teddy bear is added as Baby's companion, even though a baby doll doesn't come with the set. The teddy, however, speaks when you place it in other pieces of Loving Family furniture (sold separately). Required: 3, "AA" batteries.Diane Beall ... Read more

Very Cute addition
We bought this four our four-year-old daughter because she liked the mobile and the music, but as soon as we took it out of the package, the mobile stopped turning. She was disappointed with that, but still loves to hear the music and put her babies in the crib. It is a very cute addition to any dollhouse though. ... Read more
