5-0 out of 5 stars A fun toy.
First I advise you to buy an Anakin figure, then go ahead and buy this starship. This toy is fun to play with. The cockpit does not look too big. The stickers were not that hard to put on(and I hate putting on stickers),but trying to put these stickers on in the cockpit is hard. The glass might come off, but it is very easy to put back on. Overall this a great toy.

3-0 out of 5 stars it's pretty cool
this item is pretty cool, but i would recomend u wait and save up 4 the LIGHTSABER BATTLE GAME.

4-0 out of 5 stars cool,fun,cool
when i saw this toy i i started jumping. i wanted this toy so badly. and when i finnnaly got i ripped it open! i loaded in the missiles and put on the stickers and did the finishing touches. and when ilooked at it sonething was wrong! the cockpit looked waaaay to big! it looked goofy to me. but it is way fun! if you dont care about the cockpit, this is a must buuuuuyyyyy!!!!!!!! (except when you put on the decals, there will be extras, so yoll have to put them where you want)

5-0 out of 5 stars ROTS Starfighter
This, the last expected episode in the Star Wars saga should certainly bring about a long line of product that might seem never ending. So, it begins with the Sneak Preview line of toys, which to date includes 4 figures, and Anakin's Starfighter

We've seen starfighters before. We've seen x-wings, a-wings, tie fighters and virtually every vehicle and weapon in the Star Wars saga. So, is this Starfighter any different?

The answer to that is, yes, and no. No. It's not a whole lot different. The price is typical of Hasbro's Star Wars line of vehicles this size. There's not a lot different in that it has two firing missles, and the wings open up. The cockpit opens, and allows for an Anakin figure to fit in. A nice novelty is that it comes with a "generic" R2-D2 who's dome spins, and, can be removed and replaced with an actual R2-D2 figure. A really nice touch.

The design itself is rather cool. (Leaves one to wonder where the engine is at, though). But, it's unique design is definately
cool.

Durability? Quality seems similar to previous starfighters. Drop it too hard, and I'm sure something will break. But, not super fragile, either. It's pretty decent heavy duty plastic quality.

Kids who like Star Wars should like this as much as any previous version of starfighters. The fact it comes in a cool box and has a cool design doesnt hurt things.

As is typical with Star Wars products, "Figures not included".

One annoyance, at least to me, is with the decal instructions. The Star Wars vehicles come with a 2 dimensional picture that looks different than the actual product. If one is not looking for a purist's placement, then it will not matter. For those who want the decals placed in the proper place, this might be a bit annoying.

For collectors, I won't swear that this is going to increase in value; however, if I were to guess it, I'd think it should. The reason is, with this being the last episode Lucas plans on making, I do believe we will see the largest line of toys ever.

That said and done, this Sneak Peak starfighter could be of interest to collectors down the line. I say this because I suspect that this packaging won't last too much after the movie is released, and the new line comes out. Therefore, this may be in demand later. At least that's my gamble. And, if not, at least it's a cool looking starfighter.

Bottomline: This is a must have starfighter for collectors and fans alike. It's cool, not overly expensive at $20, and, pretty fun for kids. A definate thumbs up on this one.

SCORE: 95 of 100.

5-0 out of 5 stars a good ship
This starfighter rocks! you can fit the soon to come episode III anikan into it. it fires missles. The R2 that comes with it can be removed and its dome spins! the wings pop open and it is very durable. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game
The new Star Wars plug-in video game is awesome. There are five different games that are included: The Gunship Battle, Grievous Onslaught, Coruscant Attack, Droid Invasion, and Utapau Chase. You are wielding lightsabers deflecting blasts from droids in one game while you are piloting a Jedi starfighter launching an attack on Separatist battleships on another.

My favorite game is the Utapau Chase. I am Obi-Wan Kenobi tracking down General Grievous while being chased by enemy Bogas and avoiding turret gun fire. I can upgrade my blasters, armor my Boga, or acquire extra lives. This game combines the classic arcade game graphics with the versatility of a great video game. It is fast paced and fun. I would recommend this game to both Star Wars and video game fans alike.

5-0 out of 5 stars Utapau Chase Rules!!!
I just got this game and it rules! It's cool because it brings back the old school gaming with a new school attitude to it.All you do is actually plug it in and play it.The game is all self explanatory and comes with instructions on how to play any of the five games in it.The five games are great, but I have to say the one I like the most is the Utapau Chase. Also another cool feature is that it saves your scores. The graphics and the gameplay are both smooth and i didnt find any bugs playing this game, like you normally would find.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny....
The games are fun for the most part and the controller is very comfortable. The space battle game reminds me of the 80's arcade game Bosconian (with much better graphics). All the games control perfectly with the analog stick (yes, it's a REAL analog) and the sound effects are sampled right from the films. My 3.2 year old son actually enjoys these games, but a couple are VERY hard (rescue Palpatine comes to mind). Overall, this is something I will never tire of, and for 20 bucks....it's a steal.

5-0 out of 5 stars 80's-style gaming with a modern edge!
As a 33-year old who has not yet commited to a game platform, this plug & play was a real treat. As it says in the title, it is 80's-style gaming with a modern edge.AND you can save the high scores!I found myself playing and enjoying it for hours. All 5 of the games included in this plug & play emulate a classic 80's arcade game, but incorporate characters and locations from the new trilogy of prequels. This is not a complaint, I thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of the toy, as did my 36-year old brother. (And 2-year old son.) You may find that you quickly master a few of these games, but the time spent getting there is well worth it.It is cool looking, has a great controller, and the games are challenging and well-designed, indeed. Enjoy! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Lego out did them selfs...... NOT!
My friend has this toy and i can't say much about it because i have not played with it much, but i'll tell u what i do know. There are a few minor problems with the toy First I saw starwars 3 and when anikan and obi-wan fought niether of them were waring a camp and obi-wan never had his hood on. Also it sucks that u can't move the hand that has the light saber plus it stinks u can't take it apart becase when obi-wan an anikan are fighthing obi-wan cut anikans legs at the knees and cuts off his regular hand but u can take tha hand off. And last but not least when the battery tha lights the light sabers up dies u have to throw the figure away. All in all i don't think this is a very goog toy.

3-0 out of 5 stars Much ado about nothing
As far as Star Wars is concerned, Lego is usually at their best when they create Star Wars vehicles.I haven't been all that thrilled with some of the Lego Star Wars set pieces I've seen. But this may just be a personal preference.

This set builds a set piece that serves as the stage for a duel between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Both minifigs have a light-up light saber, and both of the light sabers are blue.Push down on either guy's head to light up his weapon.

The set piece has three platforms connected to a central platform by narrow pipes. At the end of each of the three platforms is a collapsible tower (and they fall over with the slightest touch).Above the middle platform is a small receptacle with three transparent orange "lava" pieces that you can dump over on one of the combatants. At the left and right sides of the arena are stunt stick mounts. Each stunt stick has a platform with pegs where you can place a minifig.Put each guy on a stunt stick platform, and our two guys are ready for a light saber duel.

The construction here is all pretty basic.Nothing too complicated.Colors are very dull.Light gray, dark gray, black, some brown, and transparent orange. There are many transparent orange 1x2 smooth plates here, numerous transparent orange single-peg round pieces, and six flame pieces. There is also a lava wall piece, a transparent orange base plate (8x8), and some angled plates in transparent orange. This is the place to come for transparent orange pieces.

Our set piece's durability is pretty good.I've been moving mine about with little trouble. The stunt stick mounts aren't attached to the set piece all that well.If you're using this set on a stable, flat surface, it's all good.Otherwise, the mounts might fall off.

The stunt sticks are kind of fun but also somewhat problematic. We can move them in any direction; however, when we lift a stunt stick up off of a floor, the minifig's weight causes the guy to tumble upside down.If you want to have Anakin or Obi-Wan perform a jump, there's no way to get him standing straight up again, and you have to use your other hand to set him right-side up (which defeats the purpose of using a stunt stick to begin with).Twisting on the stunt stick causes your guy to turn. You can turn him all the way around. The stunt sticks can be used to easily position your guy just about anywhere on the set piece.Personally, I find these devices to be rather cumbersome to use.If I want my two guys to duel, I'll just hold one guy in each hand and have them duel.

One final gripe, then I'll shut up.The batteries in the minifigs aren't replaceable.I'm not sure what we're supposed to do when Anakin's or Obi-Wan's battery runs dry.The light-up light saber is held in the right hand, which isn't movable. You can move his arm up and down, but you can't pose his hand. The light saber is held at an angle. But these are very minor complaints.I suppose that's the price we pay for a light-up light saber.

I wouldn't say that this is a bad Lego set.The set piece here is reasonably durable and well designed for the most part, if not all that attractive.I like Anakin and Obi-Wan with their light-up light sabers.I'd say that this is a good effort by Lego, but they're in their element when they're doing the vehicles. My verdict:one thumb up, one thumb down.

5-0 out of 5 stars best set in rots lego line
This set is sooooo cool it's like having the movie right there in front of you!You can do cooooool combos with the sticks and figures. It's very durable.Any fan of lego or star wars will love this set.A definate must have! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A good toy, or is it?
Sure it may be good for a toy, but for collectors it may not be, this is because the seat is on the GODAMN SIDE OF THE VEHICLE! yes, that's right. Just watch the film and you will be amazed by how inacurate it is. Also you get general gievous figure which is ok BUT, if you watch the film he is not white, but a light beige. And, the model can be snapped quite easily. get it if your a kid, but it may not suit collectors.

4-0 out of 5 stars unstable
this toy is very fun but be warned, if you think
the little 'bonus' qualifys for not getting general grievious,
you're wrong. it also sometimes the part where GG sits moves
independently from the wheel, looking weird.
and it may roll on its own.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Exlusive" Figure is Crap, But Everything Else Looks Good
For the most part we, the consumers, purchase a VEHICLE set for the vehicle, not an extra pack in meant to draw in unwary buyers. So listing the absolutly terrible "Exclusive"Greivous as a downfall for the set as a whole is just picky. The vehicle in itself (the main attraction of the package), isn't all bad.Sure, it isn't the greatest of vehicles but it is very likely the only wheel bike that will come out, and you can bet that the wheel bike will hold a special place in the movie (f.y.i. the Obi-Wan Greivous chase scene), so that alone makes it worth buying.Don't let the other reviews make this package out to be absolute crap, after all, it's a plastic vehicle made for playing with; NOT made for perfect acuracy. It's out there to be fun to play with along with your other 3/4 inch figures, and it does that job exceedingly well.So what if it's balance isn't flawless, you purchase it to play with, not display (at least most people do).Bottom line:enjoy it for what it is:a good representation of the new movie vehicle. Not what you THINK it should be.This is a good purchase.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT AS COOL AS IT LOOKS...
It looks cool. It wants to be cool. I WANTED it to be cool. But it's not.

Here's the skinny:
~ The exclusive figure does not fit in the chair.
(be warned the "Wheel-General" is barely articulated)
~ The piece is ill-balanced.
~ It rolls unsteadily (when it rolls).
~ It stands poorly.
~ It's awkward to hold and clumsy to play with.
~ and to top it off, it "feels" cheap.

Do not be swayed by the stunning packaging. Do not be fooled by the exclusive figure. This is a weak offering from the Hasbro team. Don't get caught up in the hype, learn from my mistake.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wheel Bikes Rule
This is a great set. It comes with a wonderful wheelbike toy that goes just about anywhere and has lots of detail. On top of that you get a bonus, a limited edition General Grievous action figure that cannot be found anywhere else. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars NOT AN R4!
This toy is increadably kewl but is deffinately not and R4 unit, it's an R2, althougfh it has an inaccurate name it is still and awsome looking and durrable little toy! a recomended buy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice R4 Unit
I'm looking forward to seeing this guy in Episode III. He is a gold-colored droid that apart from his color looks alot like R2D2. Cute little guy and a fun toy to play with.

5-0 out of 5 stars R2-D2 with a k-razy paint job!
Ok,it's not so k-razy,but this R2-unit is a really fun little guy.Place him near any light source and his 'eye' glows orange. His arms/legs/whatever are poseable as are his feet/hands/whatevers and if you spin his dome around - presto - his little third leg (I'm sorry,I really don't know what else to call it) extends downwards or stows back in his body.

And,big plus - that stupid looking blue ball thingy can be easily removed and thrown away - I mean, stored for the day when this becomes a valuable collectible.

Good for kids of all ages, except those young or strange enough to try and eat it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Proof positive that the piece count doesn't matter
This was the first Star Wars Episode 3 Lego set I bought. After looking over the selection, I decided to start here.I believe it was a wise decision.I've been very satisfied with it.Having seen much of the remainder of the Episode 3 series and what it all has to offer, I have to say that I started out with one of the very best.

While the Wookiee Catamaran does have fewer pieces than the cheaper Arc 170 Starfighter, this didn't have an affect on my decision because the piece count of a set never really does affect my buying decisions.Quantity does not necessarily equal quality. If you have a hundred pieces of blank paper, you've got a hundred pieces of blank paper. But if you have twenty-five dollar bills, you've got $25.I was looking for quality, not quantity.

And the Wookiee Catamaran delivers quite nicely, considering the (retail) price of admission and what we get for it.This set has six minifigs. Two clone troopers, a wookiee warrior, Chewbacca, Yoda, and Luminara Unduli with a light-up light saber. Each character has his own weapon. The clone troopers each have a blaster, the wookiee carries a spear, Chewbacca has a bowcaster, and Yoda carries his walking staff.Luminara Unduli (a female Jedi) has a green light saber that lights up when you push down on her head. This is a great assortment of minifigs for a single set to have.Very nice.

The Wookiee Catamaran itself is a hovering boat with a turbine engine and two long pontoons. Each pontoon has a small compartment where you can load small blue "bomb" pieces.A lever mechanism drops the "bombs".It also has a spring-loaded missile with a soft silver tip. This model goes together easily with the detailed instructions, and there's some clever usage of some vertical hinge pieces to create the sloping sides of the pontoons. The colors here are primarily brown and dark gray, with a bit of light gray and light sandy yellow. There's no odd hodge podge of colors here. This is a great-looking vehicle. The power plant for the turbine engine has bronze and silver pieces.Very cool.

This set gets an A++ in the durability department. The turbine engine and pontoons are securely attached to the vehicle and won't threaten to fall apart during play. You can pick this puppy up by the turbine engine in the middle and move it about, and nothing's gonna fall apart on you.For a Lego model, this thing is rock solid.Very impressive.Exceptionally good durability. The only pieces that might come loose during play are the large side panels of the pontoons; but they're only likely to fall off if you're rough with it, and they're large pieces that probably won't get lost.Just snap 'em back on there. No big deal.

The clone troopers have their own hovercraft, which is sort of like a swamp boat.It has swiveling gun turrets and a movable engine.Again, the durability here is well above average. It's a nice little vehicle.

I have two small gripes with this set.Luminara Unduli's battery isn't replaceable.I'm not sure what we're supposed to do when her battery runs dry.The light-up light saber is held in her right hand, which isn't movable. You can move her arm up and down, but you can't pose the hand. The light saber is held at an angle. But these are very minor complaints.I suppose that's the price we pay for a light-up light saber.

This is a great Lego set with a good variety of characters, a good variety of pieces to work with, and an exceptionally durable vehicle. The durability of the finished model is especially appealing.I had a great time assembling it and playing around with it.The clone troopers are cool, the wookiees are very cool, Yoda is cool, and Luminara Unduli is great! My verdict:thumbs way, way up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Looks that kill
With all the recent re-releases in the Star Wars LEGO line, I had been anxiously awaiting the new Episode III sets. And looking through pictures of the sets before they were released, I was particularly attracted to the Wookiee Catamaran. I was not, however, as attracted to the price of the Wookiee Catamaran. After all, this set has 20 fewer pieces than the (equally as striking) ARC-170 Starfighter; and yet it costs $10 more. It really doesn't seem to make sense... until you have the Catamaran assembled and sitting gorgeously on your dresser for the world (or your friends) to see. Just by looking at the set on display, it appears there's more than 376 pieces. And of all the new Episode III sets I have put together, this one has to be the best-looking. It's dashing and simplistic at the same time.

Putting the set together was very easy, which can be either good or bad depending on the person. Because the two sides of the catamaran are basically identical, when you build the second "wing" you almost get in a groove and don't really even need the directions, much like with the legs of the AT-AT. The durability of the set would look as if it were a bit flimsy; and during the building process it is. But once you have it together, if you grab it by the center you shouldn't have any problems moving it from one spot to another. Also, putting the strings on the two holding areas that drop the blue neon balls was almost as tedious as threading a needle. But that's neither here nor there and inconsequential after you've finished.

As for the minifigs, you get 2 new Clone Troopers (who get their own neat little vehicle here), a new Wookiee Warrior, the too-often-used Yoda and Chewbacca, and Luminara Unduli, who's equipped with LEGO's newest fixation/trademark: the light-up lightsaber. Not a bad guestlist. So in conclusion, I'd recommend the Wookiee Catamaran to anyone who's got extra money to spend on something they'd love to have people gawk over in envy, but not necessarily play with. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Tie fighter
This toy is awesome! I got this for the pilot, but it's better than I expected. It's really fragile, but it is really cool. I was dissapointed when I saw the pilot. It has no face! I feel sorry for him.

I only have one issue, Darth Vader can't move his hand. He can't come apart either. But thats just me.

5-0 out of 5 stars easy to assemble
I have a little boy as obsessed with Star Wars as his Daddy. (ok, Mommy likes it too.)This is super easy to assemble, unlike some lego sets. It does not stay together well, but what was a tie fighter today is a blaster tomorrow, right? As I said SUPER EASY to put together.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tie'd for the best of the re-releases
Being that I didn't get into the Star Wars Lego line until early 2003, I missed out on a huge number of sets. Now, I am not a big fan of re-releases--mainly because I was able to get about 85% of all the Star Wars sets I wanted thanks to [...] anyway, and also because the originals then become sort of obsolete. But the #7146 TIE Fighter was one I failed to obtain (at first; I have it now), and I was glad to see Lego changed almost nothing from the original. And what they did change was for the better (although they did get rid of the Stormtrooper).

The sleek look of the TIE Fighter is exactly the same as before, the colors are all identical, and they enhanced the Vader minifig by giving him an illustrious light-up lightsabre. I believe this was the first set to include that detail. And while they replaced my favorite minifig, the Stormtrooper, with a TIE Pilot, they also did away with that ridiculously unsteady stand thing (the main reason there's 10 fewer pieces on this set). Had they included that again, the durability would've been about a two, at best. The TIE stands better on its own anyway, although it is still a bit unstable. Oh well. Putting this set together took no longer than a half-hour, which is pretty average for a piece count of 159. It was a very easy set to assemble, with most of the building time going into the two (identical) wings.

The TIE Fighter is one of the most recognizable ships in the Star Wars universe, since it appeared in episodes IV-VI and is set to appear yet again in Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. Although I don't consider this set to be part of the Episode III line, it was released at about the same time and compliments a Lego collection very nicely either way. If you already own the original TIE Fighter from back in 2000, ask yourself whether or not a light-up lightsabre is worth the price of an almost-identical set. Otherwise, pick this up before you miss out on it. Again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Toy
This TIE Fighter is the best toy I've ever had. At first some of it kept falling apart. But then I tightened it the best I could. So now, I can play with it as tight as can be.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Set
I really like the Tie Fighter in this set. I don't really like the Darth Vader light-up light saber. It's one of the strongest sets I've ever built. This set has a great form and also can be a link to Death Star II or the Imperial Star Destroyer. ... Read more

im a 40 year old dad and i must protect my family. i carry this cliped to my belt and when i think somthing is dangeruos i whip it out and defend my kids and grandma and grandpa. one time i brung my presious son to the toy store and it will be the hardest battle i had to over come he wanted to buy some star wars figers so we went into the star wars isle little did i know that many others were there to i saw a 10 year old kid whip out a light saber and swung it around it was a little too close to my son so i said bring it i whiped out my saber and i slashed a hard blow at his torso he screamed but he dueled his hardest i was scared i almost had to retreat but i stayed and fought the battlethen when his gaurd was down i swung it clear at his face and i defeated my foe i suffered many wounds myself. this light saber wont break on you it is a great realiab;e saber.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Sith warriors view on lightsabers
Whether your battling the sepratist armies, or your older brother, this saber is awesome! I am a big Star wars fan, and have qquite a few lightsabers, and this one is up there with the best! The only reason i give it 4 stars instead of five is because i have witnessed how destructive the non-electronic Darth maul saber is, when used correctly. My top 5 sabers are Vader's, Darth Maul's, Count Dooko's, this one and the silver/blue one. I recommendthe sith lightsabers for someone withbetter balance and more control ( expecially Maul's and Dooko;s) because they are a bit less balanced, but deadly when used right. The Jedi Sabers are good all-around fighters because of convienient grips and good balance. This one, Mace Windu's signature one, and the blue/ silver one are all good for beginners because they are easier to use than sith sabers, and have light hilts. I use dual- wielded Vader's and Red/ Black sabersBecause the later is easier to use, and Vader's is just soo cool, but Dooko's or Maul's are the ones that always get me. I highly rercommend them to any lord who is deft of the blade. I will Say thi and be done, DO NOT buy the flashy electric ones. They do not contract all the way, break very easily, and ( My opinion) are not very imaginative. It is good to have a realistic weapon, but the non-electric ones are realistis, too, and they are much stronger. Hope this helps!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very strong and durable
I bought this lightsaber so i could play with it. i battled my hardest against my brother who had a cool darth maul electronic ligtsaber and i accidentally broke it when we were battling. this purple lightsaber is much stronger than those more expanseve electronic lightsabers. so i bought another one and we battled our hardest, they didn't break or crack anywhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a very fun toy.
This is a very cool toy. It is better than the electronic light sabers because it comes into itself all the way. This makes it smaller and easier to transport. Also, it doesn't weigh as much as the electronic ones and you can fight more swiftly. When it is fully extended, it locks so it remains in place while you fight. It has a little trouble coming into itself, but this is not too difficult to overcome. I have a ton of fun when I play with this toy. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic takes place just a few years after the Mandolorian Wars, thousands of years before the events in the Star Wars movies we know and love. Two Jedi, master Revan and his apprentice Malak, led the Republic's forces to victory and pursued the Mandalorians into deep space only to return as Dark Jedi at the head of a huge fleet of Sith warships. Only the Force powers of the Jedi Bastila prevented the Sith from overwhelming the Republic's weakened forces. At the start of the game Malak has usurped control of the Sith by betraying Revan and has attacked the ship carrying Bastila and yourself. In true Star Wars style, the game begins with a bang.

The storyline could have been a standard coming-of-age yarn but is instead a genuinely interesting adventure told with humor, compassion, and respect for the source material. Your character has a mystical bond with Bastila, and the two of you share some kind of connection to the Sith villains Darth Malak and Darth Revan. The game's planet-hopping adventures are driven by your exploration of these connections and how they relate to your larger goal of discovering the source of the Sith's sudden fleet. During your adventure you can explore side quests minor (such as racing swoops or gambling) and major (such as uncovering the fascinating back stories of your companions). Star Wars fans will get a kick out of the rich lore introduced in the game, particularly the Tatooine storyline that reveals the origin and history of the Sand People.

Gameplay is an abbreviated form of Wizards of the Coast's d20 Star Wars RPG game system--anyone who has played Dungeons & Dragons will be familiar with the abilities, stats, feats, and bonuses in this game. The player creates a character as a member of one of three starting classes (soldier, smuggler, scout) and then later chooses a Jedi class (guardian, consular, sentinel). Joining the player's character are other Jedi, warriors, thieves, droids, a wookiee, and even a Mandolorian. Unlike the faceless non-player characters of other games, each member of the supporting cast has an intriguing history and even agenda. Up to two of these other characters can join your character at any time. Depending on who you chose to take with you, new dialogue and even intra-party arguments come into the game (put the Mandalorian veteran with the Republic patriot and you'll see sparks fly). Combat is real-time turn-based, meaning the turns are seamless but the player has the option of pausing the action at any time to issue orders or direct any character to use a certain Force power, ability, feat, or item.

Graphics range from adequate to exceptional. Building and character models are not impressive--about what you get in GTA 3. Lightsaber graphics and environmental effects (like waving grass, clouds, and weather) bring the world to life. Battles are just brilliant, with characters pumping out blaster fire at Jedi who dash, dodge, and even deflect the bolts back toward their assailants. Complete with sounds straight out of the movies, the thrilling combat is pure Star Wars.

All in all, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a masterpiece of Star Wars gaming. The pacing, balance of action and dialogue, clever puzzles and quests, and loving attention to detail have set the bar very high for role-playing games in general and Star Wars games in particular. Consider this a must-have game.--Mike Fehlauer

Pros:

  • Captivating storyline
  • Clever dialogue
  • Star Wars feel
  • True story and dialogue support for either Light Side or Dark Side play
  • Brilliant combat graphics
  • Fascinating characters (the loyal--and homicidal--droid HK-47 is truly unique)
Cons:
  • Occasional bugs in dialogue, movie playback
  • Cannot transfer equipped gear between characters while on your ship

5-0 out of 5 stars Gripping
It is not a good idea to start playing Knights of the Old Republic if you have other things to do or if you're behind on your sleep schedule. This is the sort of game that sucks you in and compels you to keep playing long after you really should have gone to bed.

The graphics are decent, but nothing to write home about. The control scheme is simple but effective. But where this game really shines is in its storyline. Multiple interlocking ministories weave around the main tale, the saga of your character and his struggles to retrieve the Star Maps and defeat the Dark Lord Malak, while coming to terms with... well, I won't spoil it. Play the game and love it.

The Star Wars universe translates very cleverly into an RPG world. Feats of skill mesh more or less seamlessly with Jedi powers allowing amazing flexibility in character development while remaining controllable. The game does suffer from a mild lack of balance: Jedi characters are so much more powerful than non-Jedi that I rarely interacted with the rest of my party once I had it full of Jedi. But this is a marginal defect in a stellar game.

The game supports content download via Xbox Live. As of this writing there is no extra content, but I hope Bioware gets some up soon. This game left me hungry for more, and I'll be first in line to buy the sequel.

5-0 out of 5 stars It Really Doesn't Get Much Better Than This in Console Games
Let's get right to the point ... this game is one of the top 2 or 3 console titles produced to date, period. Hype? Not at all. It's simply a wonderful gaming experience start to finish.

Disclaimer -- I am not a huge fan of console gaming, I tend to prefer PC games. However, this game is an outstanding example of what a console game *can* be when it's done right, and boy what a ride this one is.

The game is hard to categorize. It's technically a RPG following the D20 pen-and-paper Star Wars Role Playing Game rules and system presented by Wizards of the Coast, which closely follows the new DnD rules. However, the game plays more like an interactive movie than a typical RPG .. there is combat, but this isn't a predominantly hack-and-slash game. It's a great search, explore, find type of game, with a wonderful rendering of the Star Wars galaxy environment, and frankly the best dialogue and character interaction I have seen in a computer/console RPG-type game. The storlyline and characters are deep, compelling and they draw you in ... you begin to really care about what is happening, about the story that is developing, and it is not the banal story often slapped on to a RPG as a colorful backdrop for endless combat scenes, but a real cinematic-type story.

I would go as far as to say that this game justifies purchasing an X-Box, if you don't own one. It's really that good. And if you own an X-Box, obviously you have to have this game -- it's the best one out there for that, or any other, console platform.

5-0 out of 5 stars To be blunt, this game is simply phenomenal.
Ah, the realm of Star Wars... Filled with so many good - and bad *cough hayden christensen cough* things. And to not name Knights of the Old Republic amongst the good should be punishable by law. To be blunt, this is game is simply phenomenal.

As it should be in any good RPG, KotOR features an insanely good plotline. You'll begin your journey at one of three "professions." Soldier, Scout or Scoundrel - all either male or female. It's up to you as to whether you'd like to customize each aspect of your character or just have the computer create a quick one for you. You're stationed on a Republic Battle cruiser - the Endar Spire. From here, it's up to you to escape your doomed ship and make it off to Taris - the planet you're in orbit around.

Right from the first minutes of the game, you're choosing your side - or path if you will - which will ultimately result in your fate and place in the galaxy. It comes down to you to choose through your actions and dialogue whether you will side with the Republic - or the Sith.

Those who are not very familiar with RPGs (as I've noticed in some of the other reviews) sometimes find the combat style of Knights to their disliking. I myself am a fan of first person shooters like Halo. You'll soon find that Knights in the COMPLETE opposite of Halo when it comes to combat. Combat is turn based and auto- targeting and while you might formulate a picture of a slow tedious time watching the computer aim, fire, miss aim, fire, hit... it's quite the contrary. Utterly unlike Halo, combat doesn't resolve around pumping your opponent with as much lead as fast as possible (which is awesome, don't get me wrong) but around strategy. You main characters and accompanying party members each wield different skills. A Jedi might use a skill like force choke to mercilessly drain the life from an opponent while a soldier might use grenades and the rapid fire skill to take out targets. Trust me, if you're willing to try it and get into the game, combat is far from a con.

On top of the stellar storyline, combat, and the ability to decide how the game's going the end - Knights wields additonal positives. One thing I was impressed about right off the bat - before I even got into the storyline - was the sound and graphics. The voices of each of the main characters are performed by actors who do a great job with tone and rate. The sound of a lightsaber springing to life or a blaster going off are instantly recognizable. On one particular planet, you can hear the breeze blowing across the plains. The music is decent. The most important things is that it doesn't get really annoying after a lot of gameplay time. It changes accordingly during exploring time and time spent in combat. The graphics are impressive. Those displayed during the various movie clips are better than the in-game ones, though the in-game graphics are still satisfactory.

Finally - plus the graphics and sound, Knights features great replayability - something that sometimes hard to find in XBox games. The variation of games you can play are stunning. You might play your first game as the Light Side male soldier while you take a couple side quests because you're still getting the hang of things. Then you may go back and play the game as a Dark Side female scoundrel with a completely differnt set of powers and storyline. You may take a few more side quests - opening up further possibilities. Depending on the side quests you take, game might anywhere from 24 hours to 40 hours.

Overall, I'd go back and shell out $100 dollars for this game. I can't say enough about it - as is obvious by the above.

Hope I've helped give you some insight into one of the best games I've ever played! (BTW, look for the sequel on December)

1-0 out of 5 stars I even hate Star Wars RPGs!!
I'm a big Star Wars fan and I love Star Wars games (Shadows of the Empire, Clone Wars, Episode 1 Racer, Jedi Academy, etc.) but KOTOR is awful!! Like the other negative reviewers, I agree the computer does the work for you, has limited mobility, and is too wordy. You have to switch characters alot to get doors open at the beginning and you rarely fight. When you do, the game asks you if you want to fight, and when you do, the game locks the target for you (often misses) and the part that pisses me off the most, its turn-based fighting. I was really frustrated with the game play and all of the wordy stories from people you run into. I realised this was an RPG and I quit immediately afterwards. I'm glad I only rented this instead of shelling out $50. I'm also glad that I have Clone Wars for XBOX and Shadows of the Empire for my N64. For non-Star Wars games, I suggest Halo, MechAssault, Red Faction 2, and Turok 2:Seeds of Evil. I'd play Shadows of the Empire anyday over KOTOR!!

One of the best!!
This game is one of the best games ever made, I've been playing video games for many years and i am pretty picky about the ones i buy and praise. But i bought this game as soon as it came out. Even if you are not a star wars fan you will love this game. not only for the story line but for the features as well. It treads the line of 3rd perspn shooter to Rpg extremely well. ... Read more

Now Luke Skywalker, You Will Die
The Unleashed line of toys continues with this figure of Darth Sidious. His face doesn't really match the one seen in RETUN OF THE JEDI, but the amount of detail and action in the sculpt help make up for it. The figure comes with two pairs of hands. One normal, the other features blue lightning bolts shooting out from his fingertips. I found it was best to display the figure with one regular hand and one hand with lightning. If you attach both hands with the lightning at the same time the amount of lightning looks a bit ridiculous plus his face can get obscured from certain angles.

Drawbacks - You'll have to find a safe place to store the hands not attached to the figure. The lightning bolts seem pretty sturdy, but I'm sure if they got bent they would break. On my figure the paint job on the pair of hands that have lightning is rather sloppy.

I recommend this figure, but it doesn't reach the high standard set by other figures in the series. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You can wait til May 19...
...or you could get this now and see tons of footage from Return of the Sith [sic] a few weeks early. That's really the only reason I bought it, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Many questions are in the form of a movie clip, and there are quite a few questions on Episode 3. And none of it is from the 11/04 teaser trailer or regular trailer that's been out for months. Though if you really want to see these clips, you're best off just playing the DVDs, rather than actually playing round after round of TP with them...

5-0 out of 5 stars Okay, so I couldn't possibly have played it yet.But C'MON!
Sure, it's not even out yet and I'm rating the holy hell out of it.But C'MON!Imagine if the original Star Wars Trivial Pursuit and the game Scene It had a kid together...There's no way it wouldn't be great!

Again, I argue...C'MON! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars lego has done it again
it blows my mind how lego can make whatever they want out of lego first its darth vader or chebacca now A GENERAL GRIEVOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! thats just amzing 5 stars for grievous 4 for the set. WELL DONE LEGO!

3-0 out of 5 stars 4 thumbs up for General Grievous (3.5 stars overall)
This was the last Episode III Lego set I bought, simply because I didn't really like the way it looked. Sure, people say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but through the years and the hundreds of thousands of bricks I have learned you can usually tell when a Lego set isn't going to completely satisfy. But I bought it anyway. And while this set has its moments, the General Grievous Chase is no outshining star. With just 111 pieces, there isn't much substance; and therefore there isn't a lot to get excited about.

The real treasure (and main reason for even buying this set) here is General Grievous himself, who comes equipped with four lightsabres (2 green, 2 blue). His body is basically a glorified Episode I droid, but white and with two extra arms to hold all the lightsabres. (On a completely out-of-context note, the body used here for GG would have been perfect for all those previous droids, since it allows for the arms to move away from the body. That way, their weapons could have gone from side to side... you'll see what I mean if you buy this.) I guess all I could think about when I was putting him together was how cool an actual duel between Obi-Wan and Grievous would be, in film, with the plentiful lightsabres. Obi-Wan's minifig is in standard form, while his giant lizard-thing is a rather "puffed up" version of the Mos Eisley Cantina's infamous Dewback. It's actually quite ugly. Assembling all this took me under 20 minutes, which is expected with such a small piece count. Oh, and trying to figure out how to reposition the legs of the wheelbike (correctly) so it could roll took an addition two to three minutes.

All in all, the General Grievous Chase is an average Star Wars Lego set; nothing too special, and certainly not among the best of the Episode III line. Still, if not for simply finalizing your collection, Mr. Grievous is probably worth the price alone. This set is very durable, a decent displayer and reasonably priced, considering the aforementioned pluses. Let the force be with you.

4-0 out of 5 stars asome!!!!!!!!!!! (sort of)
It is good, but not super good
it comes with 5 lightsabers, wich is good plus they are not like the light-up kind because the light-up kind can't come out of the guys hand.

Greivous and his robot is awsome and Obi-wan is good too.
But the set should have more pieces and the lizzard thing isn't
the coolest. Still it'zz awsome

3-0 out of 5 stars Gray light saber hilts?Hmm...
This is another Star Wars Episode 3 set that doesn't thrill me all that much.General Grievous rides his wheel bike, while Obi-Wan Kenobi chases him on some sort of four-legged beast.

Obi-Wan wields his trademark blue light saber.Grievous has four! Two green, two blue. These aren't the light-up type, and it should be noted that the hilts are light gray (as opposed to the usual silver).Grievous is reminiscent of the martians from the Lego Life On Mars series. If you remember Life On Mars (which was very cool, by the way), think of a martian with four arms.He has a unique torso piece, and an equally unique head piece. While Grievous is cool, his hands aren't posable. All he can do with his four light sabers is slash back and forth.Oh well. He's still a cool guy.

Grievous rides a strange contraption with two big wheels in the center. This vehicle is mostly constructed from Technic Bionicle parts. It has some silver and light blue Bionicle connectors (the type used for Toa and Bohrok ball joints). The vehicle has four walking legs (light gray Toa arm pieces), and it can convert back and forth from "walking mode" to "wheel mode".There's not a whole lot of construction going on here, and the vehicle's guns are kind of fragile.Still, I like this half of the set better than the other half.

Obi-Wan rides a four-legged beast who has a hodge podge of colors.Dark green, light green, brown, dark gray, and sandy yellow. The beast goes together easily but isn't all that posable.Once you've seen a real "action figure", Lego beast figures pale in comparison.I had the same reaction to the storm trooper's riding beast in the Mos Eisely Cantina set. However, while these beasts are smooth, rather dull in texture, and lacking detail, they do fit into the Lego motif quite well. This beast has a very detailed head, which looks sort of out of place on his smooth and dull body.

My verdict on this set is one thumb up for General Grievous and his wheel bike (cool); one thumb down for the beast (not as cool).I kept the wheel bike and gave the beast to my sister (she likes Star Wars beasts).

5-0 out of 5 stars COOL
This was my first revenge of the sith lego set and the best. Im not a big fan of lego, but this is cool. The mini grievous is cool as is the mini obi wan.I reccomend this set for any lego and star wars fans ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Another title to add to the Star Wars gaming shelf, The Clone Wars picks up where the movie Episode II: Attack of the Clones leaves off. In fact, the very first battle in this game re-creates the climactic battle in the movie, with you leading the clone army and blasting every droid in sight. Not big on strategy, Clone Wars is your basic arcade-style shoot-'em-up game. If you liked Star Wars: Starfighter, this game’s for you.

You control the Jedi leading the Republic's clone army, sometimes fighting as Anakin, Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, or other familiar Jedi as the war takes you from planet to planet. As the leader, you may issue squad commands to teammates, allowing them to act independently and assist you in your mission. Your ships and weapons are varied, giving you the pleasure of piloting everything from zippy speeder bikes to the impressive Republic Gunship. Soar over ice fields and desertscapes, or maneuver through labyrinthine galactic scrap yards, leaving robotic wreckage behind as you blast through enemy ranks. And every so often you actually get to use your lightsaber as well.

The game is fun to play, the controls easy to master--but you won’t find a lot new or challenging if you’re an experienced gamer. Also, unlike its sibling, Bounty Hunter, the graphics leave a bit to be desired, but luckily this aspect of the game doesn’t detract much from the gameplay. The pure pleasure in this game lies in becoming a part of the Star Wars universe. And, of course, blowing up robots. --Maile Bohlmann

Pros:

  • High-intensity play
  • Fun, classic Star Wars music
  • Four multiplayer modes

Cons:

  • Silly voiceovers
  • Graphics aren’t very detailed and color palette is limited
  • Plotline is threadbare
  • Overall, not very challenging or unique

2-0 out of 5 stars The Clone Wars are just plain boring.
I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I pretty much have ever game with Star Wars in the title. After Rouge Squadron II on the GameCube, I couldn't wait for The Clone Wars, which can roughly be described as Rougue Squadron on the ground. While the graphics are amazing, the game play that has made so many Star Wars games fun to play was lacking in this game in my opinion. The single player missions are fun, and the difficulty on Jedi Knight is extremely tough. I just didn't get into the game. I did not like the ground based fighting game and only found fun flying. The times when you are a Jedi are laughable. If one has played Jedi Knight II, on PC, they will understand what I mean. The multiplayer is absolutely horrible. I played it with 3 of my friends and after 10 minutes, we played something else, due to the lack of entertainment and fun. If you are a hardcore Star Wars fan, you'll probably like it, if you are a gamer looking for a challenge with great multiplayer capabilties, get Time Splitters 2, and pass on this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars This will be the Greatest Star Wars game of all time.
If Rouge Leader was good, combine it with Shadows of the Empire and Attack of the Clones to get Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Spectacular graphics look like the movies just pop from the theater to your tv. A great story line connects with the movies even episodes 4,5,and 6. Gameplay variety allows you to fly around blowing up tank droids in a Republic Gunship then get out and cut some Genosians in half with your lightsaber as Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. And to top it all off, the first Star Wars game for Gamecube to be Multiplayer. Grab a friend, a second controller and start blowing each other to Kingdom Come. "Begun the Clone War, has"-Yoda, Jedi Master

That was the preview now for the review.

The game itself has pretty good graphics, on the vehicles especially. The storyline dates back to events before the Republic was formed. Although some of the character voices and designs could leave something to be desired, it could be worse. Although there could be some more missions and some better bosses (one in a Gunship for one) the levels are fun, especially when you're in a Gunship. Overall it's a five star game with some minor downsides.

3-0 out of 5 stars Like Rogue Squadron on cheats
With Episode III of the Star Wars saga hitting theaters next year, Lucasfilm licensing is taking the time to flesh out the battles of the Clone Wars through various forms of media - this video game is one of them. You start out at the battle of Geonosis from Episode II and work your way through the war campaign by campaign.

If you've ever played any of the games in the Rogue Squadron series (and by extension Battle for Naboo and Starfighter) you'll know what to expect. However, whereas those games required a more thoughtful and tactical approach to each mission, Clone Wars puts the emphasis on all-out carnage. Mission objectives are really vague excuses for you to blast and blow up the hoardes of enemies the game tosses at you. There are missile and health refills aplenty, and the convoys you occasionally have to protect are in nowhere near the danger the ones in Rogue Squadron faced. I wouldn't say the game is easy, but it's not nerve-wracking either. It's like a cheat version of Rogue Squadron where you get to blow stuff up and go crazy without worrying too much about the consequences, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

The graphics are okay. Emphasis was placed on getting as many bad guys onscreen with a respectable framerate instead of making everything look pretty, and it was a smart decision. You'll be too busy staying alive to care that the visuals aren't as advanced as other titles. Sound and story, which LucasArts usually excels at, are disappointing here. The in-game sounds are great, but the cutscenes are compressed. The story itself isn't that great either, with bland voice-acting. I'd rather fight seperate, non-related missions than have them all link together with a convoluted story.

In the end, Clone Wars is a decent game to pick up and play for a few rounds of mayhem. It's not a standout game by any means, but it's a recommended purchase for Star Wars fans and anyone wanting mindless excitement.

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific
Star Wars The Clone Wars is an exceptional game. It is my favorite one out of them all. You can play in single player mode or up to four players. It has mind-blowing missions. You can receive bonus points to win mulitplayer maps and that's not all you can win. You can find out the rest of the surprises by buying the game now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stupendous
Buy it for the awesome Conquest Multiplayer mode. (like Freedom Fighters multiplayer). Single Player is also long and great, with incredible graphics. It's a great deal, so pick it up. ... Read more
